Finding the body of a dead man would freak out anyone. Even someone with Dani Foster’s gruesome job. She can’t help but join the search for this murderer. Maybe because she found the body, or because her friend is a suspect. Maybe the deep-seated drive to work on the case is to stay close to Crime Scene Specialist Jay Hunter. She excuses her actions as the normal ones of a detective’s daughter. Though no one’s supposed to know about that. Jay Hunter can’t escape the sharp eyes and keen mind that Dani has, or her beauty and fun-loving spirit. Her help might be exactly what he needs to secure the promotion he’s been hoping for. Though he can’t stand the thought of her being in danger. Not after the last time. This is the second episode of the Grime Fighters series. Dani's troubles aren’t over, and the relationship between her and Jay is only beginning.
Marji is a "graduated" homeschooling mom who's thrilled to avoid the empty nest for a while longer. She lives in the Dallas area with her hubby of 35 years, her twin daughters, and a rescue pup named Rosie (or Madam Barksalot, depending on the day).
When Marji isn't editing or formatting for her authors or writing on her own projects, she leads a ladies' Bible study, works with the women's ministry at her church, and sings alto in the adult choir. As often as possible, she's playing strategy games and card games with friends and family.
She prefers mountains to beaches, dogs to cats, Tex-Mex, white roses, and the Pumpkin Pecan Waffle candle from Bath & Body Works. Her watching preferences include Hallmark mysteries, NASCAR, NFL games, and Perry Mason reruns.

Grime Wave is book two in the Grime Fighters series. I believe that readers could follow along fairly well in this story without having read the first book of the series, Grime Beat, however, I think that they will feel much more connected to the characters if book one is enjoyed first.
In Grime Wave, Dani Foster lands right in the middle of a murder and must navigate a disturbing investigation while trying to figure out what the future holds for a possible relationship between herself and Jay Hunter. I really like these two characters. They are trying to get to know each other better, but they are human and life keeps getting in the way. The doubts that sometimes creep up for both of them as they attempt to take their friendship to another level seems very realistic.
Once again, although classified as a novella, I felt that Grime Wave delivered a full story with great characters, plenty of suspense, and a touch of romance. An exciting addition to the series, book two left me looking forward to someday reading the next book in the series! I definitely recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Another wonderful mystery by Marji Laine! It begins with a murder to clean up after, and moves through layers of clues and motives, sandwiched in between tender, first blushes of a clean romance beginning to bloom. Dani can’t reveal the true facts of her past, even to her closest friends, so that leads to some definite relationship stresses. Great suspense, character development, and plot movement.
While this is a very interesting book, I don't think it qualifies to be called a Christian book just because someone asks about God's behavior in it. It really doesn't have a lot about God in it or Christianity in it. It is more about a murder mystery suspense and romance with a lot of action in it, but with a little mention about God. The book was very interesting
The storyline keeps me involved and I can hardly wait for the next book. Jays heart for God gives the story a wonderful flavor and encourages the reader to think about God and His ways throughout the book.
Dani is back, but this time she and a friend stumble on a freshly dead man when stopping by her friend's office to pick up a forgotten phone. Before the book ends there is a serial killer to be caught before he catches a very clever Dani! "Her" policeman, Jay, finally realizes how much Dani means to him! Such a good mystery concluded in a thrilling way! Straight on to the next book as I try to figure out Dani's "real" story!
I like the sense of humour in the lead character, Dani. This character intrigues me and I'd like to know her full back story. I am just not sure that I am interested enough to keep reading this series of novellas at this time. I am older and tend to appreciated older characters more than younger ones most of the time.
I loved this second book in the Grime Fighters series. Things that appealed to me in this book were, how Dani talked to God, the clues, the puzzle, and her impressive research. This book is recommended for anyone who likes Christian cozy mysteries.
