Anchor Point completes the steamy smalltown Newman Fire Series in this second chance with the one that got away romance.
One fifteen-year-old secret…
This was it. After years of hard work and long shifts, I finally landed my dream job. Grateful for the opportunity to start over, my daughter and I packed our bags and moved south. Small town Newman, meet Olivia Hawkins, your new fire chief.
Two fates intertwined…
As a seasoned firefighter, I know how to keep the rookies in line. How to systematically clear a burning building. How to prioritize work over romantic entanglements. And while I’m normally the teams problem solver, I, Mac Collins, have no clue how to react when my new boss turns out to be an anonymous fling from my past.
Three lives in the balance…
Truth? I never stopped thinking about Olivia. And if my math is correct, every time she looked into her daughter’s eyes, she likely thought of me, too. It’s been years since I imagined a family of my own. I’m not husband material, let alone a father figure. Besides, she’s my commanding officer. Playing house would incinerate both our careers. But when an arsonist threatens my town, I realize there’s nothing I won’t sacrifice to protect my girls.
And a love that deserves a chance.
Return to small town Newman in this steamy, second chance, workplace romance, where Mac, the grump we’ve come to love, gets bowled over by his sunshine of a daughter, and her one-that-got-away mother.
Having not read the other in this series I wasn’t sure what to expect. I did throughly enjoy this journey. Rosie, Olivia and Mac. Rae Fields had me laughing, crying, wanting to punch the mayor, and extremely happy all in the same book. It kept my attention the entire time. I now plan on reading the whole series (I can’t wait).
OMG! Mac is just so hot! He's all gruff and grumbly, and tends to keep everyone at arm's length. When the people in his life need him, though, he's always there for them. But when a blast from the past comes barreling back into his life very unexpectedly, he's at a loss. His simple life just got really complicated, and he's not quite sure what it all means. He's scared, but excited for the future - the solitary man suddenly thinking about a family that he never thought he'd have. Olivia and her daughter move to Newton to start a new life away from her ex-husband. She's just taken the job as Fire Chief for the town. She's worked so hard for this, and she can't wait to get started. But fate has a sense of humor, because on her second day she sees a face she never thought she'd see again. One she searched for 15 years ago, but could never find. Her daughter's father. Mac has aged well, and Olivia is just as drawn to him as she was so many years before. But she has to stay professional. And a relationship could cost both of them their jobs. Not to mention they have targets on their backs from the arsonist still on the loose. But not being together is its own torture. Mac knows these two are the most important people in his life now. They're his girls, and he has no intention of letting them go. OMG! I just couldn't get enough of this man! He's strong on the outside, but a teddy bear on the inside. He's sweet and hot, and supportive of Liv and his brothers in arms. You'll recognize the characters from the series so far, and we get little updates on them. The arsonist is again a presence throughout the book, and that storyline gets wrapped up well. I can't believe this series is over! It was so good, and I just want MORE!!

Social media helps with Rosie's determination to find her father.
Olivia Hawkins is the new fire chief in Newman. Mac Collins is a captain in the fire department. Fifteen years ago, they met while on an island vacation. She was celebrating graduation from the fire academy and wanted a vacation before starting a new job. He was trying to recover from being left standing at the altar on his wedding date. The only personal information they exchanged was their first name. Later, when she found out she was pregnant, she had no way to find him. Their daughter, Rosie, didn't have that problem!
Rosie had been snooping and had found her mother's journal and letters written to Mac but never mailed. She found a photo of Olivia and Mac and was able to find Mac's calendar picture that the firemen had posed for. She also discovered there was an opening for a job as Fire Chief in the same town. She also hit the internet to ask for help finding her father. One huge flaw she never saw coming was the anti-fraternization policy within the department. It's the reason the last chief lost his job, although the circumstances were entirely different in his case.
Now Rosie is dealing with mean girls at school and a school suspension. Olivia is being threatened by a crazy arsonist or someone else. Secretly, Mac's moved them into his lake house with him. Mac's dreams of an early retirement may be out the window. Olivia and/or Mac could be fired. Mayor Smith, along with other City Hall cronies, are certainly sketchy and suspect in whatever is going on there.

There were a number of things that made this book stand out for me. Foremost it was how Mac reacted to the news that he had a fourteen-year-old daughter and the truly heartwarming way they began a father-daughter relationship. The second was Rosie herself, who was a girl who wore her heart on her sleeve, who was wise beyond her years and who gave two people who had loved each other for fifteen years a second chance at happiness. And if these three characters don’t do it, Buster is sure to win your heart. I could see that happy-go-lucky dog cavorting by the lake clearly in my mind. Olivia seemed a bit stiff to me at first, a bit too formal and regimented, but then again, this may have been a defense mechanism after her unhappy marriage and divorce. I like how tough she was in the man’s world she’d chosen and could empathize with the misogynistic behavior she had to put up with on a daily basis. Though I haven’t read the previous books in the series, I could sense that Mac was a bit of a loner and it was somehow so satisfying to see him not only find the family he didn’t know he needed, but also to realize that he’d never really been alone and that his colleagues were also his friends. Olivia and Mac were hot and heavy in the past and there is a slow burn of heat in this book as they come face to face with their past. The only trouble is that Olivia is Mac's boss at the firehouse and they never exchanged information in their past so there is a secret that could mean all kinds of things for their future.
Rae Fields writes this book with a mix of sweetness, humor, heat and love....and a lovable dog named Buster. Dog lovers will fall for him as well as Mac.
I loved Mac's personality and how he handled his relationships. He truly is a memorable character.
If you love romances and shows like Chicago Fire, this is definitely the book for you! It has all the elements that make the show great with a whole lot more from this talented romance author. I couldn't wait to keep reading each day and wish I could have devoured it in one sitting.
If this is your first Rae Fields book, you can get more of her steamy fire novels by grabbing the rest of the books in this series.
I enjoyed Mac & Olivia's story. Mac & Olivia burned for each other from their first glance. Their brief encounter resulted in Rosie. I love her character. I love how she went in search of her "MacDaddy". lol. "you can't call me that", "you can't call him that". This had me cracking up. I was happy the author included some of the other characters in the series and that Mac finally had his family. He finally got what he didn't realize was missing in his life. I am also glad Loren was finally stopped. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in the upcoming "Cal" book. If you love hot steamy firefighter series, I recommend this series.
My heart went out to Olivia and Mac, for what they had each been through and for what they went through after meeting again. Rosie was a girl on a mission, she wanted to know her Dad and wanted to see her Mum as happy as she was in 'that' photo. I enjoyed seeing their strengths and vulnerabilities, how they handled the changes in lives, some dodgy leadership, old school mentality, some danger, and their rekindled feelings.

Arsonist Loren Watson has escaped to continue his crime spree in this fourth and final book in Ms. Fields's Newman Fire Department series. This time, there's a new firechief in town, Olivia Hawkins, Captain Mac Collins's ex and the mother to Rosie, the daughter he never knew he had. Will Mac and Olivia rekindle their romance and will Rosie be able to enjoy being with both parents? Will they catch Loren before it's too late? Read the book to see.

Rae did an excellent job in crafting Mac as a tough grumpy fire Capitan with a soft sweet centre. Your heart melts for him. Liv though made to be tough is reasonable in some aspect & made reading the book enjoyable. Rosie was a firecracker. I loved the whole friends & family vibe with a touch of venerability. Abit of danger thrown in to keep things interesting & having Liv kick ass was fun. An enjoyable finish to these brave men & women. Honest review.
Mac and Olivia. Shes Newmans new fire cheif. Hes a firefighter and nothing deters him but the woman he had a fling with from his past that is now his new boss. But when he looks into her daughters eyes he knows who her father is. And when his town is threatened by an arsonist he'll go any lengths to protect his girls. Loved it. What a great story.

This was my first Rae Fields book, and I kind of started in the middle of the series, but I'm so glad to have discovered this author!
This book was so heartfelt. It's got amazing father-daughter bonding, a delicious burn between the two main characters, and a whole bunch of internal and external stakes. Combine that with great writing, and you can't really ask for more from a romance. Highly recommend!
I now need to go back and start the whole series in order.
I really enjoyed meeting Olivia, Mac and all their family and friends! It was wonderful having a woman in the top position and reading about that dynamic in the relationship. It was satisfying when they worked their way through the obstacles to their happily ever after.

I loved this book. Mac and Olivia get a second chance and Mac gets to meet his daughter he didn't know about. The reader gets the thrills of firefighters and the romance as they get to see how Mac and Olivia rekindle their love. Add in the old ladies of the town and this becomes a page-turner.

Being a women in an all men job as Chief of firefighters and having a Mayor who runs your but. The guy you had a fling but never know his full name now under you at work. The daughter he knows nothing about and her look out for her dad. It has great characters and great story line.

This is the second book I've read written by Rae Fields; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the fourth book in the Newman Fireman Department Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Olivia & Mac; she is a single mom and finally lands her dream job as the Fire Chief; he is on the fire department.
Mac and Olivia were once hot and heavy but went their separate ways. Fifteen years later they meet again and are going to work together. There is still a clear chemistry between them but what happens when he finds out the secret she's kept from him all these years? Will they get a second chance to get it right?
Olivia and Mac had a vacation fling that led to Rosie. Olivia is now the new fire chief in Newman. Rosie was looking for her father. He got the job as the new captain in the fire department. Olivia is in danger. Will Mac keep her and Rosie save. This is a great must read story.
Loved this series! This book tied all the books together, and there was a perfect ending. I could relate to these books b/c my husband works for a fire department, and all the City/County politics that were in this series happens in the real world too. Loved all the love stories in each one!
