Do you want to boost your organization's performance? Out perform your peers? It may be as simple as looking outside your own field.
Wise Beyond Your Field shows how creative leaders use ideas from far beyond their own fields to do things differently and out perform their peers. The book reveals secrets and examples from leaders who compete with the best and soar beyond the pack. They come from sports, law enforcement, high tech, the arts, and more. What could a dancer learn from a football coach? What could a coach learn from a sheriff or CEO of a software firm? Much more than you might expect. Guaranteed to help you go beyond your own world, you'll learn and use new ideas right away. The best part: you'll have fun in the process.

This is a great book about using perspectives outside you industry to improve you work. I love the idea of creating a gang and then feeding off of the differences you each have to cultivate creativity. Loved the book and it's short read.
I was required to read this book for my Specialist Degree and enjoyed the multiple ideas on how organizations are lead effectively. Living in Boise, I really enjoyed that all the examples, whether from sports teams, to performing art groups, to CEOs from local businesses where from leaders living in the great state of Idaho. Some of the ideas where practical, but most were philosophical and sometimes difficult to relate to the organization I currently work at. Definitely a quick read that I might go back to pages I have tabbed when thinking about moving my teachers to the next level.
The book was written about a group of men and women in the Boise area who are considered quite successful in their respective fields. They get together and brainstorm and share information. This books encapsulates some of the rules, guidelines, and suggestions for thinking outside your own employment field.
Bought it out of curiosity, and glad I did. This book really got me thinking "outside the box." I've already passed it along to a colleague to whom I recommended it.
Interesting and quick read. My favorite sections were the ones about BSU football coach Chris Petersen but it was interesting to read about the style of the other leaders too.
