Author of 29 books, Lynda Page was born and brought up in Leicester. The eldest of four daughters, she left home at seventeen and has had a wide variety of office jobs. She began her prolific writing career with her first novel during her 45 minute lunch hours at work. The book took 18 months to complete and was snapped up by the leading UK publisher, Headline, and she has been under contract to them ever since. She lives in a village in Leicestershire and is a full time writer.
Now or Never has a great atmosphere, small town vibes, mostly good-natured characters, wholesome moments and a low-stake plot that doesn't lean too heavily on the drama and angst. However, this book is dated.
The characters are likeable, with warm, kind and good personalities, but they lack nuance, act predictably and aren't intriguing or memorable. The characters don't seem realistic. Even the antagonists are stereotypically bad.
The story might have predictable moments and unrealistic coincidences, but there are some aspects that caught me by surprise.
Ultimately, Now or Never offers a pleasant journey with cosy and charming vibes!
This is the first book I have read of Lynda Page and I don't think it will be the last. I wasn't sure when I started reading if it was going to be enjoyable or not and almost gave up with it in the early stages. However I'm glad I persevered as it was a thoroughly good read with an unexpected twist at the end Will be looking for more of Lynda Page.
