I absolutely loved this first issue!

It was a good choice to drop right into the action and build back to it, there's an immediate hook to the issue. We cut to the credits page with a fun banter filled introduction and then the furthest point back in the timeline; I like that this ties quite nicely into the Gang War aftermath in that it functions as a way for Peter and Miles to repair their relationship, with them making a point to connect as mentioned by Miles. The jokes about how long Peter and Miles have been around were fun and the background gag with the various Spidey titles.

I've been a fan of Greg Wiesman since The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, coming to it as an adult turning 30 when it broadcast. I enjoyed his short lived Starbrand and Nightmask series too that came out around the time I started reading comics again.

One of the things I love about the TSSM animated series is how much Weisman's fandom and research comes through especially with deep cuts; go check out his Ask Greg website for BTS insight. We see this again with the cast for this issue with Raymond Warren making an appearance and brought in as regular series from the animated series. I hope we see more of this, using Peter and Miles's supporting characters.

Another thing that I love is the seeding of future storylines that pay off later, we see this in the Young Justice animated series too; I'm hoping we get to see these all come to fruition.

The callback to animated show with the play scene was fun too.

In the past I've liked and not loved Humberto Ramos's art, most recently from ASM with Nick Spencer and Champions with Mark Waid, as although I do like stylised work it doesn't always work but it really does here. The dynamism is just perfect for the two agile leads.

I'm really looking forward to the next issue.

Peter and Miles decide to make a conscious effort to have more personal time together in order to get to know each other and bond over stuff that is more normal, of course nothings ever that simple for our friendly neighborhood spidermen.

The banter between Peter and Miles was great and I loved the artwork, however the story is a bit choppy here pacing wise since there’s quite a bit of going back and forth between mini flashbacks. Still enjoyed myself though, the focus here was on fun and I think Greg Weisman and Humberto Ramos delivered. Not sure where the story will go but I’m curious.

Fantastic introduction to the series, rightfully focusing on the dynamic between the two Spider-men which was a LOT of fun. Some might not like that this issue is pretty much JUST that, but I have faith that future issues will create an interesting story too. Already quite intrigued by the mystery set up in this issue.

Fun, Meta and Zippy

Some solid character work and fun Easter eggs in a fun first issue. Rare to see Miles and Peter being friends in their normal lives. Interested to see what comes next

This series is off to a great start! Though truth be told, I enjoyed the personal interactions between Pete and Miles far more than the battle with the roided Jackal. It was fun to read and I am looking forward to many such issues to come.

This just did not work for me at all. It’s one of the most shallow depictions of either Spider-Man that I’ve seen. An extreme amount of quips but no real story. Completely unnecessary and awkward time and location jumps as well. It was just…annoying. Such a shame.

It’s about time this book became a thing. Hope it continues to function as both a look back at the characters in the web of the Spider-Men as well as an expansion of it as well.

This book is also very punny, perhaps too punny? Is there such thing? Who cares I’m having funn with it.

Ya no comulgo mucho con el arte de Humberto Ramos, pero en esta ocasión marida bien con el guión, este Peter chavorruco y sus terribles bromas.

Honestly this is what a Spider-Man title should be, something fun lighthearted where you can read it and not put much thought into it. You even get a chuck of slice of life in this, with Peter and Miles having some downtime to grab a coffee and catch up.

Of course that doesn't got to plan and they have to start Spider-Maning, they take on a new Jackal and a mystery starts. If you can't tell already I really liked this, a lot of Spider books of late seem so busy with no clear direction, it's nice to have something that knows what it wants to be and has an ideentity of it's own.

While the banter between the Peter & Miles is undeniably fun, this debut suffers from a lackluster plot and a very questionable narrative justification for why this series even exists.

Greg Wesiman wrote some really fun dialogue between these two heroes. Their witty exchanges and friendly jabs provide a lighthearted tone and had me giggling most of the way, save for the slightly cringe talk of picking up girls in a college coffee shop. However, the story itself felt uninspired. The two decide to just “hang-out” once a week to chat? Ummm, ok. Can that reasoning really sustain an ongoing series?

The issue’s conflict unfolds predictably, offering little in the way of surprises or tension. @ramosland’s art is undeniably energetic, with dynamic layouts and action sequences that leap of the page. His signature style perfectly captures the movement of the web-slinging heroes. However, the non-action sequences felt a bit boring.

Overall, this was a fun but ultimately shallow team-up issue that feels like it could have happened in either of their own series. While the interactions between Peter and Miles are a delight, the lack of a compelling story and questionable thesis held this back for me, especially considering the awesome work Cody Ziglar is doing for Miles’ in his solo ongoing.
