UPDATED with more content. This book now includes more photos and a lot more methods and techniques, and it has an improved structure. This book was originally published in 2013. Since then, I’ve added more tools and techniques to my Bible marking toolbox. This second edition covers a lot more of each. I’ve also made some major changes to the book’s structure. The goal is to have your own system that’s easy to use. If you’ve tried other inductive study methods and found them too tedious then this book is for you. This book will show you how to mark your Bible with a simple, easy to remember method that will help you grow deeper in God’s Word. Bible marking is an effective inductive method of Bible study. It can be simple or complex. It can be confusing or systematic. It can be haphazard or methodical. To get the most out of Bible marking it is best to be systematic and methodical, but it doesn’t have to be complex. Many Christians want to mark in their Bibles but they’re not sure how to mark and what to use. This marking guide will teach • Bible marking for deeper Bible study • What marking tools to use for writing in your Bible • 12 marking techniques • 20 things to mark • How to develop your own color code • How to develop your own symbols
I am always looking to increase my knowledge and understanding the Bible and the text therein. Sometimes that means that we must look at the text in a different light and study in a different way. Color coding is but one other way to study the Word of God. Instead of highlighting the text and passages, perhaps, we must single out the specific words and wording within the text. This book is what I used to find new ideas and new ways to learn the Bible. It is always worth it to look at newer and different ideas to help/aid you to increase your knowledge and understanding of the Bible.
I’m a fan of Randy’s videos and often check his reviews before purchasing a Bible. This is a good resource for someone who is wanting to be a little more intentional and interactive with their Bible study. The content in this book will help you move from Bible reading to Bible engagement. Randy’s wisdom at the end of the book is worth noting as it relates to Bible marking, “Your marking should be part of your Bible study- not take the place of your Bible study.” This is worth picking up if you want to begin or refine your Bible marking skills.
Lots of methods to choose from. I found that the tips presented here offer some great ideas for personalizing our Bible study and marking. It will lead to a deeper relationship with God and the Bible.
From presenting multiple marking styles to offering advice on what kind if pens, pencils, and highlighters to use. This is a very handy guide to learning to effectively mark your Bible so it means something to you.
This is a very practical book for beginner Bible readers all the way up to die hard Bible readers. This book is easy to read and has very practical advice for one to mine the treasures of Scripture.
Ive always struggled with Bible marking - what system to use, particularly. This provides some really practical suggestions i hadn’t thought of before.
I am pleased that I purchased this book. It is slim, around sixty pages (my book has an index but there are no actual page numbers). I finished reading in one evening and found lots of new inspiration for scripture marking. For example I plan to immediately begin marking the Meta-Narrative throughout my Bible. General Rules for Interpretation was extremely well done. I found myself reading out loud the seven rules for scriptural interpretation to my husband.
A very useful guide for beginning Bible marking. Also a helpful review for veteran Bible students who would like to refine or expand their Bible marking technique. Offers a simplified inductive study system that is less cumbersome and more user-friendly than some others I have seen.
