This is the sequel to Henrietta the Dragon Slayer. I received book marks from the author. I can't remember how that happened. Maybe it was one of those giveaways I joined and not remember anymore. Anyway, I emailed the author thanking her for the bookmarks. She also asked me if I already have a copy of Henrietta and the Battle of the Horse Mesa, Book 3 of this series. I already have it but mentioned to her that I do not have book two yet. She was so generous that she sent me this book. Thank you so much, Beth Barany.
This continued the events following that of Henrietta the Dragon Slayer. It picked up right where the first book left off. Henrietta, with the dragon stone in her possession, set out to go home and heal her sick mentor-the Master Blacksmith. Unfortunately, she came a bit late and more devastating surprises are awaiting for her.
I was not so impressed with the first book but I did enjoy this second installment. I finally appreciated the story and found myself rooting for Henri. I have seen the light of day and now I am converted. I am now a fan. I liked that more of Henri's character is revealed in this story which I think helped in my conversion. Henri is shaping up to be the heroine I would gladly follow in her adventures.
A new set of characters were introduced in this story. Henri met new friends and new allies. She is back in her hometown and old wounds and pains seemed to have reopened and visited Henri again. Her failures are now back to stare her in the face and she can't afford to fail like just before. She has to succeed in her new mission.
A new enemy also threatens the peace and order of the Five Kingdoms. Henrietta does not know who this evil is and that he is also after the dragon stone. This book is promising an onset of a war. I am looking forward to know what new adventures and perils await our heroine and her friends in the third book.
I give this 4/5 green stones. Finally, this story has captured my interest. This adventure is just starting for me. I am excited for the next book. I am sure Henri would be able to fully showcase her skills.
A trust forged in the fire of adventure is steadfast for life.
Henrietta And The Dragon Stone is the second book in The Five Kingdom series by Beth Barany. I have read and reviewed the first book, Henrietta The Dragon Slayer, and as compared to the first book, this book was verrrrry fantastic. The first book's ending got me really excited, and thanks to Beth that she sent me both books of the series together, so I didn't had to wait!
Henrietta And The Dragon Stone starts with a new quest for Henrietta. She is no more a dragon slayer but now the ambassador of Oro Islands. Not only she is struggling to control the Dracontias but also trying not to fall for Franc. With a new quest and a starting of a relationship, this book is a killer! Henrietta has a girly side too! I never knew that. Henrietta has been given the responsibility of passing an important message from Jaxter (King of Oro Islands) to King Mattias. If she didn't pass it in time, a war can occur. Franc as her guard is always with her and she doesn't mind! Shocked right? Henrietta is controlling her feelings for Franc. Aside from this some powerful sorcerer is after Henrietta, as he wants the Dragon Stone (Dracontias) from her. If that sorcerer united the five powerful stone he will become the ruler of the Five Kingdoms. Henrietta also gets kidnapped, and she and Franc struggle to get out together. The relationship was confirmed in that scene. I knew that they were gonna be together one day or another. The little brave boy, Antoine, and Leoni were very nice additions. Can't wait to read that how Beth is gonna make Henrietta finish the sorcerer. *bites nails* I definitely loved the sayings, legends, chantings etc... above the starting of every chapter. Books featuring female protagonists are always adored by me, and this series is one of them. So, I loved reading the second book of this series and yearning to read the third book, which is in the editing process. I hope the third book will be awesome like the second book and that Henrietta fans like it! Click here to read my review of Henrietta The Dragon Slayer, book 1! Henrietta Rocks!
This is another fun installment in The Five Kingdoms, a series I’m enjoying more as I go. It’s full of adventure, heartbreak, tenderness, and growth (for Henrietta). While there is plenty of action, I felt that the focus of this book was more the budding romance between Henrietta and Franc. I didn’t mind at all. It was sweet, tender, and touching to watch the two of them come to terms with their feelings for each other. To let go of their own issues and let love in.
The story had some surprises, and Henrietta is still an awesome protagonist. She’s a kick-ass female hero, and proud of it — as she should be. She’s got skills and heart. I liked her a lot in this book. I also loved Franc (book boyfriend, for sure), and wanted to see them together sooner!
In all, I liked the story and characters better than I had in Henrietta the Dragon Slayer. This is a touching story that I found myself getting more and more engrossed in as I got further into the book. If you like fantasy and kick-ass females, then this book is for you! Not just the book — the series (I can’t wait for more)!
This book picks up where the last one left off so I hope you're wearing comfy shoes because you're up, running - and fighting - within the first few pages. There is so much action within the first few pages of this that I felt as exhausted as Henrietta! But it isn't all about fighting. There are relationships to be rekindled, choices to be made, people to protect, it all goes on here.
One of the things that I really liked about this is the evolving and deepening relationship between Franc and Henrietta. I won't say anymore as I don't want to ruin any of it but let's just say that I really enjoyed how it played out.
If you like your bad guys 'bad', your good guys 'good', with bits of mystery, suspense and plot twists then this is indeed the book for you.
I received this book from the author for my honest review. This isn't a type of story I usually read, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I found myself quite drawn to the story and the characters. It was full of magic and mystery. Henri Etta was such a strong, complex, fascinating character. It was quite interesting to follow her journey of adventure and discovery. I enjoyed reading the secondary characters, they were engaging and added so much to the story. I look forward to reading more from this author so find out where she goes with these characters and what journey she takes them on next.
I was really happy to get a chance to read this book. This was a great follow up to Henrietta the Dragon Slayer. The book returns with action, sword-fighting and adventure. I really like these types of stories where characters go on a quest. The story also give us a look on Henrietta's past and see what the powers of the Dragon's Stone hold. I also like seeing Henriette and Franc get closer in the book. I did miss seeing some of the other characters like Jaxter and Paulette because I really liked them in the story but oh well. I can't wait till the next book comes out.
Not kindle unlimited, read the prequel {listed at bottom of all this} and then found had the #1 book, which didn't like as well as the prequel but then again those are made to be short and if you realize it is prequel obviously there is only so much going in to it, but a lot considering but liked this. This one, #2 had even more going on, and that can be a problem when using the audio reader on the tablet {lets me get names mixed up and sometimes lose the plot a bit and have to go back just a bit, but that's not really a problem with the book but more with the audio via kindle android for tablet with their reader not audible}, lots more going on with this book. Got this one from the writer after signing up which got me the prequel, #1 on freebie day {instafreebie think} then #2 for actually reading reviewing the others {was asked if wanted the follow up book} and said yes.

Review :
The next book in the Five Kingdoms trilogy, Henrietta and The Dragon Stone is based on the aftermath of Henrietta's adventure when she brought to the knowledge of the people of Oro Islands the sorcery of their false king, King Singfan's and Jexter turned out to be their true king. She is appointed as the ambassador of King Renaldo for the Oro Islands. And her first task is to go to King Mattias' Solscite Opening (King Mattias is the king of Bleuve, Henrietta's home and they at the moment were not in good terms) to deliver to the king an important, delicate message. No matter how much she is unwilling to face King Mattias, her faithfulness to Jexter and the call of duty forces her to set out for her task, as also the fact that she has to return to her master in time to cure him.
Now she has her old companion, Franc to come along with her in the journey. No sooner does she reach her master's village that she finds that the village is on fire and people being killed by the Varangians. She couldn't save her master. She kept running from one hiding to other along with Franc, Nanette (her mother) and Antoine (her master's apprentice) to protect themselves. But attacks increase and her mother falls cold as well.
In the book, one can see the constant fear Henrietta has to go through for the life of her loved ones. However, Henrietta is not a woman to back down and give up. She fights her way and takes her message to King Mattias. But he seems not to give much importance to that and is rather obsessed with Henrietta presenting him a fight-till-you-drop-dead fight. She senses sorcery and as she slowly gets close to uncovering the dark secrets, both Franc and she are imprisoned, separately. What happens next gives such a thrill that just a review can not convey.
To know more, pick up the series and enjoy the thrilling journey.
What a wonderful story and cast of characters in Henrietta the Dragon Slayer! Beth weaves the story through a fantasy world where the main character has slayed dragons and has seen her fair share of war for such a young woman.
As she stumbles out of a tavern after hearing tales of her heroics, she meets a pushy knight named Franc, who insists that she return with him to the Islands of Oro to face the Emerald Dragon, Mimoto. However, Henrietta has other plans when she hears that her master has fallen ill and only the Dragon’s Dracontias stone can save him.
Henrietta is a strong female role model who is on her hero’s quest with some unexpected and unlikely traveling companions. The young witch, Paulette, adds personality and innocence to the band. The pushy Knight, Franc, is stoic and harsh, yet finds his compassion in this quest. The Jester, Jaxter adds comic relief and helps blend all of the characters’ personalities. Beth creates a story of intrigue. The book is an action-packed fantasy with moments of real human emotions and turmoil. I adore Henrietta’s no nonsense, warrior ways. She has a sharp tongue and attitude befitting her legendary status as a dragon slayer.
Henrietta the Dragon Slayer flows and is easy-to-read. You won’t find any offensive language or sexual content, though there is some mild violence that stirs the action, but no blood baths. Throughout you’ll hear Henrietta mention in thought and deed that she is tired of killing. Beth’s fantasy world is detailed to the point that you can picture yourself in the tale, the mark of a good fantasy book, yet she doesn’t get the reader mired down in too much fluff.
As far as young girl fantasies goes, this is a GREAT read! Super-empowering for females of all ages. Perfect for your summer reading list! I can’t wait to read book 2: Henrietta and the Dragon Stone!
I really enjoyed reading Henrietta and the Dragon Stone. This is the second book in the Henrietta Dragon Slayer series. It has a lot more action in this adventure than in the first book. It starts off where she had finally gotten the stone she needed to help save her mentor. The question is can she get to him in time or will she be to late? Her friend now King has asked her to take a very important message to another king along her journey. Will she get the message to him? Looks like someone is following her, but who? There seems to be a lot of magic at play here which Henrietta does not like. Will her family and friends survive before she can find out who and why someone is trying to hurt her. Well I am not telling you will have to read the book. This book was very exciting. It is happy, sad, thrilling and maybe romance. I really enjoyed this book hope to read more in the series. This book was very well written and thought out. You actually think of yourself right there with the characters. Great Read!! I did receive this for free or at a discounted rate for my honest review which I have given.
Henrietta and the Dragon Stone by Beth Barany is book #2 in The Five Kingdoms trilogy. I really love this series. It features a strong female heroine. I feel that this is something you do not see enough of. Taking place in a highly imaginative world filled with magic and amazing creatures it is engrossing and entertaining. This well written book will quickly ensnare you in Henrietta's continuing journey as it picks up after book #1. So yes, you should definitely read the books in order. A great blend of YA action, adventure and possibly the very first seeds of romance make this a fun and exciting book. I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC copy of this book.
Awesome. Intrigue and double dealings abound. The epic saga continues in this fast paced 2nd book. Henrietta tries to come to terms with the powers associated with her Dragon stone. Although all she wants is to lead a quite, solo life it is not to be. Allies bent on making her a heroic leader are all around as are deadly enemies. Can she survive to carry out her diplomatic mission? Will she be forced into the role of leader, lover and protector? A grand scale saga on the same level as Brooks and a very welcome return to old style fantasy. I got this copy for a honest review.

4.5 stars (review request submitted by the author for an honest critique)
Henrietta and the Dragon Stone WAS NOT a slow-paced book. As a whole, this story had more battles, bloodshed, suspense, danger, magic, sorrow, and love than its predecessor, Henrietta The Dragon Slayer.
Henrietta was lucky she had Franc guarding her back. He was also fortunate she was watching his. Apart, they are strong. Together though, they are unstoppable.
I am rooting for them in their upcoming battle. I’m sure they will reign supreme, but the journey is sure to be challenging and exhilarating. I am looking forward to reading Henrietta and the Battle of the Horse Mesa (book three).
This is the second book of the series and it has a good story line, plenty of action, danger, adventure, mystery and suspense. Henrietta has decided to give up the sword however her trip home changes everything, and she sees she must once again pick up the sword if she is to survive her missions and protect her friends. The evil sorcerer, Bjirn Eyvindir, has not given up getting the prized gem for his plan to rule the Five Kingdoms but another also wishes to rule so he intends to keep the Dragon Stone for himself. Henrietta must figure out how to use the power of the Dragon Stone if she wishes to save the Five Kingdoms. This entertaining story is definitely worth giving a read and I look forward to reading the next book.
Henrietta finds herself well outside her experience when she has to carry the dragon egg to her mentor, and things go badly. Villains, treacherous terrain, misunderstandings, hopes and fears- each one affects all the others making a dynamic adventure come alive. I thought I'd outgrown tales like this, but I'm a fan now, ready to travel on with Henrietta.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Henrietta and The Dragon Stone is an engrossing story with a strong female protagonist and a good plot. Henrietta grows and matures in ways that makes her more engaging. A fine and fun read.

4/5 STARS! This was so much better than book 1. I loved Henrietta in this & the start of the romance. The writing was a lot better, adding an emotional depth to the characters that the first one didn't. It also had less editing errors, which was nice. I flew through this fun adventure & would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantasy journey.
You can read and appreciate this book without having read the first volume, but honestly, you will find yourself wanting to know more, so I suggest you begin with book 1 and continue with each addition. Henrietta is the ultimate strong female protagonist. However she is also a well rounded human with a full range of emotions, including a few insecurities. Used to being alone, she must learn to trust and depend upon others to attain her goals. Having earned her reputation as a dragon slayer, her new role as political ambassador is even more of a challenge. She travels into different sorts of danger and fights a foe she can't identify or see. It is battle by battle without winning ground or security. The secondary characters are also likable and I enjoyed watching them develop also.
A wonderful fantasy adventure for high school age through adult. As the book ends you will be so caught up in Henrietta's world you'll be screaming for the next installment.
