Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Pretty standard edition of One Piece with plenty of action, silly escapades and some bananators. I think I've left this a little too long between volumes because I did forget who a couple of the characters were outside of the Straw Hats, which left me a bit confused. My own fault, I'll try not to wait so long for the next volume.
More of a build-up to the grand finale as a war is about to take place if the crew doesn't stop with the help of the princess and a battle between Crocodile and Luffy finally begins as they both have all the reasons needed to let it rip at each other.
An improvement from the previous volume but still a lot of setup for what I imagine will be the big showdown in the next couple volumes. I am really enjoying the Alabasta arc
Sanji pulling a fast one on Mr Zero was hilarious and fun. I do feel like some characters: namely Zoro and Usopp are really sitting on the back burner and I want more from them
One Piece, Vol. 19 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (167–176) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon continues the Arabasta Arc. Karoo brings news of Crocodile's treachery to the king, who decides to attack Rainbase and sends Pell – the country's strongest soldier, to scout ahead. Smoker awaits the Straw Hats in Rainbase and chases several of them into Crocodile's casino, where they fall through a trapdoor into a cage. After defeating Pell, Crocodile's partner Miss All-Sunday captures Nefeltari Vivi and brings her to the casino and Baroque Works' final plan is set in motion.
The king is abducted, and the rebellion supplied with weapons. Mr. 2, impersonating the king, admits stealing the country's rain. In response, the rebels attack the capital. Crocodile leaves the cage surrounded by his oversized crocodiles, while the room floods with water. Tony Tony Chopper lures Crocodile away from the casino, while Sanji enters it and fights the crocodiles. One of them spits out Mr. 3, and Sanji forces him to open the cage by creating a key.
Smoker, aware of Crocodile's plan, calls for reinforcements while the Straw Hats head for Alubarna. Monkey D. Luffy, however, stays behind to take on the warlord.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. The narrative continues the Arabasta Arc as the Straw Hats are headed for the fabled Rainbase – the town of dreams. There they accidentally attract the unwanted attention of the Baroque Works security and gets trapped by Ms. All Sunday as she invites the crew to the casino's VIP room.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 19 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
This was more interesting than the previous volume. We made it to Crocodile's domain, and the rebels are making their way to Kingdom to confront the King.
Luffy and crew get trapped in a cage by Sir Crocodile and Vivi has to fend off a horde of banana crocodiles while trying to save her friends.
Seeing Vivi's passion for her people and how hard she tries to save them is admirable. I really enjoyed this volume because we get to see how strong Vivi really is - less crying, more action on her part.
I also really enjoyed seeing Sanji pull a fast one on Crocodile. Homeboy was PISSED. Looking forward to the next volume and seeing how the final battle commences.
This continues to be my favorite arc so far! Things are really escalating in Alabasta and the Baroque Works crew led by the ferocious Mr. Crocodile are the worst villains the Straw Hat gang has faced yet! I love the character designs and also the environments. They’re so whimsical and creative and I can’t wait to see what other things will come in the future!
This volume was pretty much just setting up for the next one, but it was still so fun to read! I am very excited for the next few volumes, I really do love this arc!
this is so exciting!! that part where smoker was chasing the crew inside the casino, then suddenly in the next panel all of them were caught inside the cage. i don't know but i laughed harder than i should because of that. and sanji taunting mr. crocodile is just so satisfying to see!! sanji is a living proof that mr. crocodile was once fooled by him. i'm enjoying this arc so much!!!
Look. I know I'm taking out some of my general anger at manga out on this volume. We'll all survive though, I'm sure.
Rant 1) Every single person in this series has a devil fruit. Do they sell these on the corner?
Rant 2) This woman just defeated the country's strongest warrior, who also had a devil fruit, in a single page. But she's going to be defeated later, certainly. Which means our heroes are even stronger.... so why the crap do they not end battles with normal foes in a panel? Why do they ever run from the navy? Argh!!!
Rant 3) Oh yeah, they have someone who can take other people's forms. "Seems almost too easy for the grand finale." is a direct quote. Seems boring is what it seems. You just destroyed all trust this city will ever have when they meet anyone, especially if they find out the truth about the shape-changer. Weak plot is weak. Unless... unless they actually raze this country and everyone of import dies. Then it won't be weak. It'll be amazing and tragic. But that isn't going to happen.
----------- Ok, rants over. :D Sort of...
The last third of this, once Sanji shows up, is actually really good. The trouble with the first two-thirds is that the bad guys' plan was bought into 100%. There's going to be death. And even if the truth is revealed, some won't believe it. Some won't care. And everyone, due to the nature of the deception, will lose all trust in even what their eyes tell them. That's devastating. This country is screwed for decades regardless of how this turns out.
And actually... that's fine. That's some Song of Ice and Fire level crazy. But that's not what is going to happen. Somehow things will be mostly ok. Which is garbage, because no it won't. Not with what has happened so far. It can't. It just can't.
But it will. Because manga. So it gets 2 stars.
But for real, the last third with Sanji is really good. :D
This volume is quite intense, even though it took me longer to finish this because of work and Mara Dyer, haha! This volume continues with the journey of Vivi and the crew on finding Crocodile, one of the royal shichibukai (which means pirates who are recognized by the world government) and also the boss of the Baroque Works. He is just pure evilness, cunning and cruel. They met Smoker again and then the revolution starts according to Crocodile's plan, except the assasination of the Mugiwara crew. This scheme failed because of Mr Prince, who is also our cool Sanji... I loved Sanji a lot, he's very expressive, a gentleman, and an awesome cook! His fighting style and skills are not that bad and kinda cool too! This arc just reminded me how cool he used to be, of course he is still cool, but he's too perverted for my taste right now, so, I'm a bit disappointed with the potrayal of Sanji 2 years later. Vivi is a very great princess and Cobra, her father is one of the best kings that I've encountered in the world of One Piece. A king who thought of the country a lot more than himself, and that's why his daughter is also an awesome princess who loves the country so much. Kouza, Vivi's childhood friend has been introduced as the head of the rebel. He's hot-headed, brave and most of all, his love towards his country that make him a rebel or rather a revolutionist. Revolutions are inevitable, I guess... Pell, another favourite character of mine appeared in this volume for a short while... Wohooo!! So many things happen in one volume, entertaining and enthralling! 4.5 stars!
