Not overly impressed with this one, readers, so I dnf it at page 96.
Why? Was totally appalled at how the men behaved towards women, and in this day in age, who wants to read about that kind of hoo har.
The thing that encouraged me to keep going a little was the yummy treats, and yes, there was a positive spin where these girls did stick to the slim classes and loose weight, but honestly we want peace and harmony, not sweet and sour.
Oh how my reading choices have changed somewhat, this was a free ebook that I purchased a few years ago, so my reading and choices have matured and so they should at my age of 59.
So with that little speech over with I'm giving a well deserved
This book was ok. It sounded like the sort of book I would love, three women all with different problems, join a slimming group and find themselves.
Unfortunately it turns out all their problems seen to be man based. Their men arent good enough for them and that's the route of their problems. I would have ordered some diversity, some recognition that people can be happily married or in a fulfilling relationship and still have issues with confidence or sadness or unfulfilled dreams.
Having said this the characters were likable enough, the story fairly engaging and the ending predictable but satisfying.it was a shame the slimming group colder have a different slogan than "because your worth it" as it just made me think of beauty product advertisements!
I enjoyed this but at times I could have punched some characters. The characters were well written and were believable. You end up rooting for some, while others you think a truly nasty. The characters were recognisable and true to life.
I don't often bother writing a review but this is so awful i felt i had to. It reads like it was written by a12 year old . The plot is ridiculous and predictable, stereotypical nonsense Can't believe this even got to print from a good publishing house. Unfortinately once i start a book I feel compelled to complete it, otherwise would never have wasted the hours on it.
Terrible pointless book. Couldn't empathise with any of the characters. Flat, non developed plot. Couldnt see any genuine reason to finish it, not even interesting as chick lit, endless descriptions of sexual exploits, and obviously the author has no idea about domestic violence. Very black and white characters who supposedly had enough money to spend endless amounts on designer clothing even on a teacher's wage. very far fetched. Deleted it from my reading list.
I liked this, and most of the female characters, but there sure were a lot of dysfunctional marriages in here, with husbands ranging from cheaters to wife beaters. On the other hand, the female friendships were lovely to see, and the men they ended up with in the end were a big improvement over their original spouses.
What a fun yet emotional read. From the highest to the lowest of emotions this book contains real life, imperfect marriages and the growth of women throughout it all. Humor, tears, excitement, unexpected turns are all found here.
I really liked this book. I enjoyed the story of each of the women and I love, that this is all about empowering these women and their journey. And when it could be a cliche about weight loss and self-esteem, it certainly isn’t. It’s about achieving goals.
There were many ups and downs in this book with the girlfriends just as there are in real life. I enjoyed reading about the friendships in this book. It doesn't sugar coat reality. I would recommend this book to all women. I think they would enjoy it.
First of many by this author, looking forward to reading more books by her. I enjoyed reading this, dysfunctional marriages and all! Danny and Diana should’ve gotten more of what they deserved IMO. Good for Kate for having the confidence to do what she wanted! I wouldn’t have been as forgiving as Marcia. I was happy to read that Jenny and Conor finally realized their feelings towards one another.

Because we're worth it was a nice summer beach involving a few friends who are affluent and in bad marriages. They go on a diet and lose weight, gain confidence and change their lives. I found it very predictable. It takes place in Ireland so the weight loss in in stones which I had to look up. Other wise it was very cute.
This is a beautiful charming story of a set of couples whose lives are intertwined. The ladies join a slimforevr group and make friendships that will last a total life time. Well written and lovely to read.
I really enjoyed reading this book! It was easy to read,. I liked the twist and turns of all the characters. I wondered how it was going to end, but the ending was perfect!
I enjoyed this book; it was an easy read. The story is about women who join a slimming club and make new friends. They support each other through good and bad times, it just seemed all their problems were to do with men!
Lawless bring to her readers another warm and lighthearted read. I enjoy when friends come together in support of each other to uplift during bad moments. Makes me thankful for the friends I have.
Loved the ease of friendship these women found. I wish it was that easy in real life. I liked the characters and the realistic conversations. A fun read.
Worth the read and then some!! Great read, so well crafted. Loved the characters, most any way. HEA for those that deserved. Escape to Ireland, please!
