The Price of Dreams is the third book in Toni Shiloh’s new Christian Chick Lit series, Faith & Fortune. Although this book could be read as a standalone, it is recommended that the Faith & Fortune series be read in order, starting with The Trouble With Love, since the characters and storylines continue throughout the series.
In The Price of Dreams, principal ballerina Octavia Ricci’s devastating injury may have ended her ballet career. With the help of physical therapist Dr. Noah Wright, Tavia is determined not to let her injury sideline her forever as sparks begin to fly between the two.
The Price of Dreams deals with topics that continue to remain relevant in today’s society, such as the struggles of interracial relationships and the acceptance of those relationships or lack thereof from family and society as a whole. Tavia’s experiences growing up with an African American mother and a white Italian father showed her the difficulties of interracial relationships at a very young age. Through the characters’ struggles, Toni Shiloh beautifully incorporated faith elements in to the storyline.
The friendly banter between Noah and Tavia was so entertaining to read, and I loved the bits of humor throughout the book. Toni Shiloh’s characters are so well developed and seem real to me. I wish I could be friends with Holiday, Tori, and Octavia and be a fourth roommate in their townhouse. Although I loved all of Toni Shiloh’s books, this series is definitely my favorite of hers!
The Price of Dreams is highly recommended for readers of inspirational fiction. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to add it to your TBR list right away!

Oh, such fun! I’ve been anxiously waiting for Tavia’s story and Toni Shiloh surely doesn’t disappoint! Written from the first person point of view, we get to see the heart and mind of this beautiful biracial topnotch ballerina who has sustained a possible career-ending injury. I loved getting to know Noah, her concierge physical therapist, through the eyes of this hurting but determined woman who has lived and measured her whole life by what others say about her. Her emotions run deep and raw; her misgivings about her childhood and her divorced parents which lead to misunderstandings and misconceptions that shape her adulthood are heart-breaking and her path to reconciliation is certainly rocky. But Noah is a wonderfully steady and constant source of encouragement and he gently points Tavia back to the One who gives all comfort, peace, and purpose.
This is book 3 in the series and while it can be read as a stand-alone, I know you’ll want to read the entire series once you meet Tavia’s best friends Holiday and Tori.

I'm happy/sad after reading this book. Happy because I love Shiloh's Faith & Fortune series and sad because this the last book. Sniffle.
I'm actually surprised at how hard I fell for the series -- which isn't me dissing the author, honest! It's because I'm not into glam anything ever. A spa day sounds like torture to me and I'm too busy reading to social media stalk the rich and famous. Though....come to think of it...if some of my favourite fictional heroes or heroines had an instagram account or posted regularly on tiktok I could defintely get into the social media frenzy! But, I digress. Back to this review.
Octavia and her friends are rich and famous but also real and vulnerable and very much down to earth as in 'I'm not going to let a jaunt to Italy in a private jet go to my head.' :-) The fact that Octavia lives out her faith in a perfectly imperfect kinda way also helped to soothe my trepidation. If this is what 'billionaire' romance is all about, I could get on board with it.
So, we have Octavia -- famous principal ballerina and currently out with a horrific injury, with no guarantees that dancing will ever be in her future again. And Noah, physical therapist extraordinaire who brings a personal drive and compassion to every patient he works with.
Only in Octavia's case there's passion too. Oh la la, the romantical tension between these two is divinely delicious. All edgy and complicated with Octavia determined to make it more so and Noah in hot pursuit. Thud! Seriously, clear the fainting couch and grab your smelling salts before you start reading.
Love the camaraderie between Octavia and Holiday and Tori. Though this is Octavia's story, their special friendship is definitely at it's heart. Loved the girl chats and texts. Theirs is the kind of enduring bond that will last a lifetime. No worries if you're not familiar with the series, The Price of Dreams reads fine as a standalone, but once you've met this trio I'm betting you won't be able to resist catching up with Holiday and Tori in the previous books.

A sweet romance with delightful characters. Third in a series, I hadn’t read the others but was able to fully enjoy this one. It explores the challenges of an interracial relationship in a way that pulls back the curtain on the challenges. Highly recommend for those who love clean, inspirational romance.

Nice conclusion to the series!
As a professional ballerina, Octavia's world is rocked by an injury. I loved getting to know her better in book three. It was especially good to go deeper into her relationship with her father and the Italian side of her family.
Look forward to what Toni Shiloh will write next!

A great conclusion to a fun series. Ballet, friendships, and new-found love. Noah was a great hero. Patient and sweet. Steadily encouraging all along the way. ❤️ Without posting a spoiler, I thought the end made a great poetic circle.

Loved it!
I enjoyed the struggle and reality in this cute romance. It gave a picture into the life of a famous athlete/performer and made her personable.
As she struggled with accepting her injury, I knew the feeling well. You are giving up everything you have worked so hard for, and the fear of looking at things differently freaks you out. The author walks us through her journey, you cannot help, but see yourself in her shoes.
I highly recommend the whole series! I was struggling with reading books a bit, which is unusual for me, and these hit the spot with something to sink your teeth into, but also giving you that happy story as well.

Author Toni Shiloh really nailed it with the third book of her Faith & Fortune series. It held my attention from the very beginning and I read it straight through. It could be read as a stand alone but parts will make more sense if you read books 1 and 2.
The characters are so well written that I’m sure I could meet them walking down the streets of New York. I really enjoyed the relationship between the ladies. Tori and Holiday will make you laugh as they push Tavia in the romance area. And the guys in all three books are swoon worthy but true to life. I loved all of them.
Octavia is complex and as we see her hope for what could be with her career and the struggle to achieve that I found myself cheering her on. We also see her struggle with being biracial and attracted to a white man. It breaks my heart that this is even an issue. Shiloh handled it very well, yet was truthful.
At first I wasn’t sure about this series. I have nothing in common with three superstars, or so I thought. But we all want to be loved and accepted, and we all want to grow in our relationship with God. Read this series. You’ll find things that resonate with you!

“Ballet was the ultimate visual art.”
These words describe the beginning of this book magnificently! The way Toni Shiloh opened this story with a stunning scene of the main character doing a ballet dance was breathtaking! I was captivated from the first page to the very end!
There were many aspects of this book that tugged on my soul. The struggles Octavia had to deal with physically, spiritually, and personally were areas I could relate to. The author did a wonderful job of showing the intense battles this heroin dealt with daily.
She brings her characters through some pretty tough stuff and shows there is hope. These characters are just like many of us. Often, we hold on to pain or hurts so long that we can’t heal. Even still, God desires to heal those hurts, and give hope for the future!
The book also spoke to my heart through Octavia’s struggle to hear God and have a deeper relationship with Him. It was so beautifully written I cried and highlighted many parts so I could dwell on them and apply them to my life.
One of the struggles Octavia dealt with was the question of interracial/international relationships and all the prejudices that come from it. It’s sad to recognize our world today is still dealing with these concerns and battles.
The author, Toni Shiloh, has a wonderful way of writing touching stories that speak sweet lessons of life. Her stories flow with great dialog and wonderful word pictures of places, people, and relationships. Each one has a realness and honesty that brings the issues each of her characters deal with, in a relatable way.
As a reader, I am always touched by what she writes.
I totally enjoyed reading this book, and the whole series. I highly recommend you pick it up to read.

A great conclusion to a wonderful series! I loved the way Ms. Shiloh paired lighthearted banter and chemistry with deeper issues and tension. A fun addition to the chick it genre, but also filled with plenty of substance.

Tavia and Noah are a wonderful set of characters, they lead with their faith and hearts through life.
Toni Shiloh has closed her series with another beautiful novel. Yet, I am sad it's over. It's like enjoying the last piece of chocolate in a high-end candy box. It leaves it sweet notes within as you find yourself wanting more.

I have enjoyed being immersed in the lives of these characters. Each person is truly unique. They find their way through obstacles such as a knee injury in this story to find hope and love. From handling family issues to racial issues, this is a great story. Author Toni Shiloh writes stories that touch the heart and soul. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Oh I have been waiting for Octavia's story and boy was it worth the wait! First of all, I have to say that this new series from Toni Shiloh has taken me by complete surprise. It's different then what she usually writes, and I absolutely LOVE it! I can't even pick a favorite. And if I'm being honest - it just feels like I read one long book, not three separate ones :)
The humor, the swoony feeling, the stubbornness, Octoavia's mom, Dr. versus Noah, all of it - I can't think of one thing I did not like. Here's the thing - Shiloh has taken some "high-end" characters and made them relatable. That's hard to do in my opinion, because how could someone like me relate to a high society level person? But she does it and it totally works. Plus, the humor. I have laughed through all three books and have loved it. Some of it is banter, some of it is witty, and some of it is just fun!
This series is a must read!! I encourage you to start from the beginning, so you get to know all the characters and enjoy them in each and every novel. The Price of Dreams continues the Faith & Fortune series with the story of Octavia who had been hurt by Tori's stalker in The Truth About Fame. Octavia is facing a long recovery after her surgery with the possibility that she will never dance again. For someone whose whole identity is tied up in her identity as the principal ballerina, that's a problem. Add in the fact that God seems to have gone silent and the complication of an unwanted attraction to her physical therapist and things get interesting.
The Price of Dreams is more than just a story of a pretty black woman who falls in love with a good-looking white man. It's a commentary on all that's wrong with the world when people start seeing others in terms of "us" and "them". Octavia had to overcome her objections to dating outside her race and the backlash that comes with that. She also had to deal with finding a new dream when all she's ever wanted was the acceptance and love of the people around her.
The Price of Dreams is a powerful story about love that thrives despite all odds and the joys (and fears) that come with finding a new dream. It's a reminder that God is always with us even when He feels absent.

Honestly so sad that this series is coming to an end. Would miss these three wonderful ladies. I love that the books were so relatable. Loved getting to read Tavia's story.
It's really sad how racism has made the world so sad to live in.
I loved Tavia's spirit, I loved her passion for dance and even with the accident I loved watching her navigating through all the changes, learning to forgive and also trust God with her love life.
I loooooved Noah! His patience and willingness to wait but also fight for his love with Octavia made my heart happy
I'm going to miss these ladies but I'm glad I can go back and visit them again 🙂.

The Price of Dreams grapples with real life issues of faith and belonging, and Toni Shiloh weaves in a sweet romance with just the right amount of tension. A satisfying finale to this fabulous series, Tavia's story (and Dr. Swoony-Swoon) will capture your heart.

Filled with so much heart...
“Where are You, Lord?” I whispered. “Why can I not feel Your presence?”
The heart of this book is learning to wait on His still small voice, calming the mind in the busyness of the world to focus on His will in our lives. This is shown through Octavia’s experiences, when a life changing injury happens she must reevaluate the direction God has for her career as a Principal Ballerina. She struggles with where she belongs, especially with her friends finding love. After reading the first two books in the series, “The Price of Dreams,” was calming to my soul. The focus pans away from the suspense of a stalker and focuses on what happens next between Octavia and her friend’s futures. Shiloh looks at the heart, the soul, the mind, and how we deal with standing out in a world that wants everyone to meet their standards. How we fight against the cookie cutter images the world expects of us.
“It was bad enough I had to waffle somewhere between Black and white, but add to that being American and Italian? Headache city.”
Another key element of Octavia’s story is her self-perception and how she is viewed by others. She is concerned with what others think of her and the struggle with her status in her community and family. Her heart is torn with family issues and how she relates with her father. This has impacted her trust level with men. I love how her PT, Dr. Noah challenges her to see beyond those struggles to grasp all that God has for her. Their banter was fun to watch play out while trying to hold back on a relationship. I loved seeing their romance unfold...

He laughed, and the joy echoing in the studio warmed my heart. He had a wonderful laugh. I closed my eyes, trying to push the delightful sound away before I fell under his spell any further.”
Another unique perspective Shiloh wrote about was Octavia’s struggles in choosing an interracial relationship after seeing how much her parent’s relationship affected her. I loved seeing her walls come down, accepting the love God has for her, and letting go of others’ expectations. Noah was a fresh wave of grace that spoke to the soul, fighting for her, and yet giving her the space to figure out what was best for her. Handling racism and interracial struggles when pulled between your heritage and other’s expectations was a heart tugging story. I loved the honest conversations about real life issues between her best friends, too.
A beautiful story with so much heart that deals with the struggles of today’s culture. I recommend this to anyone who loves contemporary romance with real life issues surrounding family and interracial relationships. God’s love and devotion is interwoven beautifully in the storyline.

The heart of this book is learning to wait on His still small voice, calming the mind in the busyness of the world to focus on His will in our lives. This is shown through Octavia’s experiences, when a life changing injury happens she must reevaluate the direction God has for her career as a Principal Ballerina. She struggles with where she belongs, especially with her friends finding love. After reading the first two books in the series, “The Price of Dreams,” was calming to my soul. The focus pans away from the suspense of a stalker and focuses on what happens next between Octavia and her friend’s futures. Shiloh looks at the heart, the soul, the mind, and how we deal with standing out in a world that wants everyone to meet their standards. How we fight against the cookie cutter images the world expects of us.
“It was bad enough I had to waffle somewhere between Black and white, but add to that being American and Italian? Headache city.”
Another key element of Octavia’s story is her self-perception and how she is viewed by others. She is concerned with what others think of her and the struggle with her status in her community and family. Her heart is torn with family issues and how she relates with her father. This has impacted her trust level with men. I love how her PT, Dr. Noah challenges her to see beyond those struggles to grasp all that God has for her. Their banter was fun to watch play out while trying to hold back on a relationship. I loved seeing their romance unfold...

Another unique perspective Shiloh wrote about was Octavia’s struggles in choosing an interracial relationship after seeing how much her parent’s relationship affected her. I loved seeing her walls come down, accepting the love God has for her, and letting go of others’ expectations. My thoughts: 🔖Page 40 of 210/218 Chapter Seven - Well, this is a surprise I just knew she was going to end up with the Chris Hemsworth lookalike bodyguard, but there's a good-looking doctor in his place. I have never heard of a doctor performing physical therapy sessions so I'm just going to ignore that part for now.
🔖69 Chapter Eleven - This is a bit slow but I'm sticking with it. It seems she has a lot of racially motivated insecurities.
I wasn't crazy about this one. The story was good but I didn't care for the trope and Tavia seemed hyperfocused on negativity. I didn't understand why she wanted to dance professionally when she was already excelling past her prime in the first book, you were already on your way out before the accident you had a good run. She had issues with Noah's race long before anyone else did and her friends added their 2 cents in when she mentioned her feelings. They came off as racist themselves but blamed it on others before they even demonstrated any reservations and happily called out the racism of others without acknowledging their own racially motivated thoughts. I also wonder why her proud Italian father had an Irish name.
Recommend to others: Sure, especially if you want to finish the series.

What a fabulous conclusion to the Faith & Fortune series! I have been eagerly anticipating Octavia's story since reading the first book in the series, and it exceeded all my expectations! I love all three of the heroines in this series, but I think Octavia is my favorite. I could so relate to her feeling that God had left her and being unable to feel His presence, as well as trying to figure out what is God's plan for your life when you don't know if the dreams you have for yourself will ever come true or not, these are all thoughts and feelings that I have had and sometimes still have, so needless to say Octavia's story touched my heart very deeply!
I loved Octavia and I wish she were real because I think we'd totally be besties!
Noah was an awesome, swoon-worthy hero, I loved him so much (though I have to say that Fox is still my favorite hero of the series!) Noah's tenderness, patience, and steadfastness were amazing, and his tendency to embarrass himself and end up blushing was totally and completely endearing! Humility and humor are two of my favorite traits in a hero and he has them both in spades!
I loved The Price of Dreams from the first page, and I hated to see it end!
I adore the Faith & Fortune series and most highly recommend that everyone read it, though I would suggest starting with The Trouble with Love as this is a series that is best read in order!

I’ve been excitedly waiting for Octavia’s story since I first read The Trouble with Love. Tavia was so quiet, sweet, and mysterious that I couldn’t wait to read her story. I also LOVE ballet so I couldn’t wait to read a story on a ballerina! And The Price of Dreams did not disappoint. As a former dancer, the ballet elements were absolute perfection!
Tavia is an intriguing character and I loved learning more of her background. She’s extremely driven and perfectionist and has a lot to learn about her identity and God’s love. Since these are two issues I struggle with as well, I found Tavia extremely relatable and loved the truths that were present in this story. And Noah was the perfect guy for Tavia! Gentle, kind, and thoughtful, he helps Tavia believe in herself and learn to relax and trust who God says she is. There’s one specific scene that will give you all the heart eyes.
Add in Holiday and Tori’s wit and humor as they support Tavia and push her to take a few risks in life and love and you’ve got another sweet, fun story that is the perfect conclusion to this trilogy! I’m not sure I can pick a favorite book! I’m not gonna lie though— I really hope we see more of Holiday, Tori, and Tavia in the future!! Whether that’s a Christmas novella, a vacation with kids, or a spin-off of some sort, all of these characters are definitely worth revisiting!

This book, as third in the series, fulfilled everything a reader could have hoped for. If you have not read the first two books, you can still read this one and enjoy it. But, if you have read the other two books, this one will be an especially great read. Octavia is a wonderful character. We see her grow through her struggles, her accomplishments, her insecurities, her spiritual struggles, her spiritual growth, and her relationship challenges. Octavia’s therapist, Noah, is a fabulous character as well. I enjoyed seeing the characters interact and how their relationships with each other evolved and changed through the story. I think that Octavia’s parents play an important part of the plot and the character development overall in the story. I appreciate the spiritual lessons as well as the interpersonal/social lessons that each character learned during the story. I highly recommend this book. I’ve already read it twice!

Reading the Fame and Fortune series is like sitting down to chat with best friends; heartwarming, invigorating, soothing, lots of laughter, love, and happiness.
The Price Of Dreams was simply amazing. The sweet good doctor Noah was just so loving and amazing. His patience, love, care and concern for Octavia made me jealous. LOL! I loved what they had. I admired how he was willing to fight and wait for her through her worries and pain.
I greatly admired Tavia's strength. I loved how driven she was to get back on her feet despite the odds. Even in her relationship with God, I loved that she valued it and did not want it to suffer.
This book was a wonderful conclusion to the Fame and Fortune series. Absolutely brilliant series.

The Price of Dreams follows Octavia, a ballerina who had surgery from an injury, and her relationship between her and Dr. Noah Wright, her physical therapist. The Price of Dreams addresses topics relevant to today's society such as interracial relationships and not having to live with people's expectations. Octavia experienced the difficulties of an interracial relationship because her parents. an African American mother and a white Italian father, divorced when she was young. Octavia learns a lot of lessons as she navigates her growing relationship with Noah amidst people's opinions about interracial relationship and her relationships with her parents and her dad's family and her dreams of returning to being principle ballerina may have to change.

What a way to wrap up an amazing series!
I related to The Price of Dreams on so many levels. As a dance mom whose daughter takes classes in several dance styles, including ballet, I appreciated the dance references and could visualize many of the ballet moves. Having been an interracial relationship before, all the nasty comments and looks sent Noah and Octavia's were all too familiar. Then, I've also torn my ACL and needed surgery where they used my hamstring just like Octavia. It was funny to me just how many things I related to in this one book.
Since my daughter dances, I was definitely looking forward to this book after having read the rest of the series. And like with the other book, I was not at all disappointed by this story. It was so heart-warming. I could certainly understand Octavia's concerns with dating Noah but it was a great journey to watch her find her worth outside of the ballet and what others may think of her relationship.

I am so sad that this series have ended. It is great to see a positive friendship among young black women. Olivia's story is the final one being told. Her story showcased the bias and prejudices that we all have and do not recognize until someone points it out. She understands what it is like to be biracial and do not want to enter a relationship with a white man. She has seen the pain it can cost. She wants love but she is so bound by her own expectations and convictions that she does not want to admit the truth about Noah. I am so glad that Noah confronted her on her hypocrisy and fears. I like how God used her tragedy to bring things to light and to transform her dreams.
