This story really shot itself in the head, especially in the end.

There is nothing wrong with the premise and I can see why people would like it. It has a lot of potential to be a very good thriller, a story full of passion, fear, manipulation and of course the question "how far would you go?"
And the story knows how to make you hate characters, at least that is how it was for me. Seriously a few of them could be psychos on their own some day.

However, this book has some problems that in my mind weigh too heavily to just ignore and they drag the story down, severely in fact. It comes down to two points:
1) The way the author chose to isolate the characters from their surroundings
2) The stakes
Point 1 was a bad joke and I thought "seriously, you couldn't come up with something better than this cliché?" The kids, albeit I think they might be adults already, simply late high school, don't seek help from anybody. And when the police is brought up it is really the old cliché of them don't believing it. I was "Are you fucking kidding me?" The messages are on the kids' mobiles, two of them were found hanged after the messages told them it would happen, a third one died similarly and the fourth clearly committed suicide. Even if you do not believe the story about the game killing people the evidence at least, at the very least, points to it having such a strong hold on their minds that it has already gotten out of control and you do nothing?? That is too ridiculous for me to just accept. It is as if the author didn't even try to come up with something better.
Point 2 was… well for the most part the stakes were pretty good, however the last two had their problems and the very last one, the cliffhanger, was really were the story killed itself. That the kids don't think about the possibility of their death vote to pick no winner and no looser I can sort of understand since it would be next to impossible since at the time they were of uneven number, but not so the last one. Now the last stake was that the boy Naoya had exactly 10 minutes to have sex or otherwise he would be burned alive. And his best friend Nobuaki rather thinks about getting some stranger to have sex with Naoya, even shortly considering raping that woman, instead of thinking about the obvious: Do it yourself. I am not kidding, there are two people in the room that Naoya could have sex with. Nobuaki and Chiemi, one boy and one girl. And Naoya is apparently not asexual so either one would be a choice and this is about their best friend's live. So solution:

And don't tell me cultural differences or something would prevent them from thinking about this. That they don't seem to consider it doesn't make them scared, it makes them idiots. This ultimatum at the end is so easily solvable that I cannot see it as an actual conflict, not the way this book portrays it at least. It could be a problem due to time restraints but the basic solution is too near at hand to make it in any way believable.

I have no desire to read the other parts. This was the first and final try for me.

La idea que plantea este tomo es bastante escalofriante, algo que comienza como un juego chistoso e inocente pero que va ascendiendo cada vez de nivel, volviéndose algo completamente perverso y conflictivo.
Me ha gustado bastante, los dibujos están muy bien realizados y el final me ha encantado, dejar con ese deseo de seguir leyendo, eso solo lo puede conseguir una buena lectura.

Tohle byla moje první manga. Nebýt výzvy asi se do mangy nepustím a možná bych udělala dobře. Slibná anotace mě neskutečně moc navnadila a teď jsem celkem zklamaná. Druhy díl ale nejspíš zkusím, protože jsem prostě zvědavá a chci vědět, kdo je Král 🤷🏻‍♀️😁

Pro mě úplně první manga a velké zklamání. Zbytečně sprostá slova, překlad často velmi groteskní. Téma příběhu by mohlo být zpracováno o o hodně kvalitnějším způsobem. Rozhovory jsou nerealistické a celková vulgárnost až nepříjemná.

Tahle manga má neuvěřitelně ďábelskou a poněkud zvrácenou zápletku, která možná není úplně originální, ale zpracování mi kupodivu vcelku sedělo. Tenhle příběh je neuvěřitelně akční, čtivý, dost psycho a musím přiznat, že mne to dost rychle vtáhlo do sebe a já se od toho nemohla odtrhnout.
Pravda, trochu mne zaráží, že se tu nevyskytují skoro žádní dospělí, kteří by řešili, co se to se studenty děje. Ale kdo ví, třeba si to autoři nechávají na další díly, nechám se překvapit. Pro tento díl to je jediná drobnější výhrada, co tu mám.
Postavy jsou vystaveny bizarním požadavkům, které zpočátku nikdo nebere moc vážně a spíš se jim většina směje, ale autorům se skvěle podařilo vystihnout, jak atmosféra postupně houstne. A tehdy se z toho stává právě dost psycho. Z postav je znát strach, bezradnost a hlavně bezmoc.
Teorii, kdo a proč za královskou hrou stojí, momentálně nemám, ale jedno je jisté - dost brzy si objednám další díly, protože potřebuju vědět, co bude dál.
Tento příběh mne dost zaujal. 4 hvězdy jsou na místě.

This is a review of the entire series.

A high school class, containing 32 students, all receive a strange text message on their cell phones one night. It welcomes them to the Ousama Game, in which they are given specific tasks to carry out in a 24 hour period. No one takes it very seriously at first, as the tasks are trivial things like having one student kiss another. Soon, the tasks escalate beyond what the kids are willing to do, and they learn that the cost of failure is death.

Stories about games of death always have a lot of potential to be mysterious, full of extreme tension and psychological manipulation, but they also have the potential to be devoid of logic and throw away clever suspense in exchange for cheap shock value. Unfortunately, this story starts off with a lot of promise but completely falls apart in the end with some extremely lousy reveals. The opening chapters aren't very good, but the middle section of the story begins to build up to something genuinely interesting and suspenseful only for the ending to take several steps back and ruin any sense of mystery, plot twists or shocking impacts. It ends up feeling cliche, nonsensical and the purpose of the game's creation becomes completely implausible. Battle Royale remains the best of the death game genre in manga in my opinion.

Nobuaki Kanazawa umí příběh dobře gradovat, a tak dochází na jeden skutečně skvěle promyšlený úkol, který s několikrát zlomí a vy jen čumíte, jak to vlastně dopadlo. Tohle se hodně povedlo, co se nepovedlo, to je zapojení policie. Jako kdyby byl Nobuaki Kanazawa raději, kdyby policie neexistovala. Možná, kdyby se jí vyhnul úplně, bude to lepší. Takhle to vypadá, že ji použil jen z nutnosti a stejně nemá moc význam. Hitori Renda pak dává postavám ty správné výrazy a hlavně ty vyhrocené, expresivní, jsou velmi povedené. Komiks "Královská hra 1" tak zafungoval. Tohle je první díl, který mě bavil, má skvělý konec, kdy se doslova těšíte na další dění a je správně úchylný, což se mi taky zamlouvá, i když osobně bych uvítal, kdyby se jednalo i o komiks velmi explicitní. Takový "Královská hra 1" není. To nic nemění na tom, že příběh zaujme. Teď si jen počkat, jak se to vyvine.

Nobuaki Kanazawa dostane sms od Krále s názvem Královská hra, tuto zprávu dostane každý student 1.B Prefekturální vyšší střední školy v Tamaoce. Ve zprávě stojí, že jde o hru pro celou třídu a proti rozkazu krále není odvolání, navíc je hraní povinné. Každý den o půlnoci všem přijde nová zpráva s označením studentů a úkolem, který mají splnit do následující půlnoci. Jenže s každou další zprávou se úkoly stupňují. Navíc, když někdo úkol nesplní, bude potrestán. A tresty jsou různé...

Trochu předvidatelný, ale i tak napínavý děj. Rozhodně bych se do podobné “hry” nechtěla dostat.

Not something really original and the kids are pretty stupid. They have seen that someone actually died and that one whose girlfriend had to sleep with Daisuke just got so angry that he just had to give him a command to hang himself? Just why.
After Daisuke "hanged himself", the kids told the police about the messages and the game and the police didn't believe them? Why wouldn't they what the hell?

Anime bylo špatný, protože smíchalo tuhle sérii s jejím spin-offem. Myslela jsem, že je to ale jen animací a až směšně overdramatic death scénama. Oh well... I když byla Ousama trash, svým způsobem mě děsně bavila. Manga na tom je úplně stejně. Máme tu třídu plnou úchyláků (hlavní hrdina je největší), kteří ve většině případů nemají ani mozek.

İlginç bir konusu olan manga. Kurgunun kahramanları her ne kadar lise öğrencileri olsa da içerik olarak yetişkinlere hitap ettiğini ve bazı bölümlerinin aşırı olduğunu söyleyebilirim.

[¿!Se dieron cuenta que el nombre del autor y el protagonista es exactamente el mismo!?)

El Juego del Rey, que ya cuenta con un anime que pausé solo para poder leer esta serie, es un juego de vida o muerte que aterroriza a los 32 estudiantes del salón B de primer año.
Un juego en donde los participantes reciben órdenes, mandatos, y estos mandatos deben de ser obedecidos antes de que se acabe el día, de 24 horas, o si no un castigo será recibido. Todos los alumnos de la clase están obligados a participar y no hay forma de salir del juego.
Nobuaki y su salón reciben la primera orden, y es fácil y nadie duda sobre el juego, piensan que es una broma, pero con el paso de cada uno de ellos las cosas comienzan a volverse extrañas.
La primera persona en desobedecer muere y es ahí cuando las cosas se tornarán serias.

Tiene mucho tiempo, no tanto en realidad ahora que reviso, que conocí esta historia y ya tenía ganas de leerla. El anime salió a finales de 2017 y en 2018 compré los mangas, pero todo quedó en pausa hasta ahora que me dieron ganas de verlo, entonces era justo y necesario leer esta historia antes de su adaptación, que valga la pena haberlos comprado con anterioridad.
Ou-Sama Game (王様ゲーム) ha sido una buena lectura, sin embargo no me destaca mucho de entre muchas otras que he leído en mis muchos años de otaka, me dio una vibra similar a Mirai Nikki (未来日記). Este primer tomo es interesante porque te deja con esperanza, miedo, incertidumbre y dudas de lo que pasará en el futuro. Ya veremos que sucede en los siguientes.

Die Idee hätte so gut sein können - wenn sie etwas realistischer gewesen wäre. Ich hab die ganze Zeit den Kopf geschüttelt und gedacht "So ein Schwachsinn". Die Polizei kommt offenbar trotz Beweisen gar nicht auf die Idee etwas zu unternehmen, obwohl die Leute reihenweise sterben. Nö, warum auch. Ist ja nicht so, als wäre das ihr Job. Die Leute sterben allein auf stellenweise brutalste Art, aber das Wie (ich will ja nicht spoilern, erfahren wir in Band 5) konnte mich nicht überzeugen. Das halte ich einfach für unrealistisch. Und das hat meine Lesefreude doch empfindlich getrübt. Da ich die ganze Story nicht ernst nehmen konnte, konnte ich auch keine Sympathie für die Charaktere entwickeln (Abgesehen davon, dass wir auch wirklich sehr viele Charaktere haben, die stellenweise natürlich nur kurz angerissen werden können).
Immerhin ist der Zeichenstil sehr gut und wirklich hübsch und detailreich.
Fazit: Das Thema kriegt Death Note definitiv besser hin. Verschenktes Potential.

I can't believe how this isn't discussed as much. It's insanely good! It's creepy, and stuffed up but it's really interesting. It doesn't drag things on, it was a great start to the series. There are gruesome scenes in it, so if you're squeamish about that, I won't recommend it.

Ousama's Game (King's Game), is a dare game aimed at a high school class. Everyday after midnight, the name and the student number of a student is sent out with their dare. The "King" proceeds to give instructions and gives people time until midnight to complete it. The dares start of with simple kisses, and even one of a student licking the other one's foot, until things begin to get extreme... Those who do not complete their dare are severely punished. No one knows who, or what, this "King" is, but he is unstoppable.

Сів читати не будуючи великих очікувань на не популярний твір і це зіграло зі мною злий жарт! Адже манґа дійсно виявилася цікавою і доволі напруженою, через що шкодую що немає під рукою 2 та 3 томів)

Тут, як прийнято в підлітків, підвищене захоплення сексуальними темами, на чому грає "гра в Короля"! По суті так і є, тому персонажі відчуваються живими і їхні реації на дуже дивні речі цілком зрозумілі (не обійшлося без дурників). В парі з гарним малюнком манґа мені дійсно сподобалася і я раджу спробувати хоча б перший том, я так точно хочу вже дочитати до кінця)

З мінусів відмічу лише загадкову появу гри в Короля, вона просто існує і нам ніяк не хочуть пояснити це явище! Скоріше за все це розкриють в інших томах, коли в першому ми краще познайомилися з героями класу (зручно що на початку є зображення усього класу з їхніми номерами)

Es basicamente un juego extremo de "Simon dice"... la historia sigue a un grupo de preparatoria (32 estudiantes) que se ven obligados a participar en este juego donde tienen 24 horas para cumplir las ordenes o serán castigados (el castigo generalmente es la muerte). La historia esta contada desde el punto de vista de Nobuaki, por lo que nos preocupamos más por él, su mejor amigo Naoya y su novia Chiemi (o al menos esos son los que me preocupan a mi). Este manga de sobrevivencia esta interesante veremos como van descubriendo el origen del King´s Game y pues quién sobrevivirá (y a costa de qué o quién).
También me gusta que es un manga cortito (5 volumenes) y tengo entendido que la historia sigue en el anime que está en emisión en esta temporada.

Das Spiel wird zunächst für harmlos gehalten, bis der erste Befehl nicht befolgt wird...
Meinung:
Den ersten Band fand ich insgesamt nicht schlecht. Man wird mehr oder weniger direkt in die Geschichte hinein geworfen, aber es dauert nicht allzu lange bis man sich zurecht findet.
Die Zeichnungen finde ich okay und sie passen zur Geschichte.
Der Band hatte schon einiges an Action in sich und ich bin gespannt wie es weitergeht und hoffe, dass es in den nächsten Bänden noch spannender zugeht.
