We know time is precious, yet we waste it. We never earned it, but we can spend it. It’s worth more than money, but we can’t save it for later. The real value of money is not to buy more things, it’s to “buy” more time to spend with people and on activities we cherish most. Time is the most used word in the English language, its meaning so obvious, until we try to explain it. By reading this book, you will learn how science has revealed the true nature of time, how to understand it, value it, and experience more of it.
As someone who has mostly taken time for granted for the past 60 plus years, Ryan’s book has opened my eyes to the true value of my only personal resource which, in my opinion, IS time. The section which resonated closest to me personally was “Maximizing the time we have.” It is mentioned that time speeds up, at least our perception, as we get older. The important takeaway for me was “our sense of time passing is impacted by how absorbed we are in the world around us.” Have made the conscious decisions to continue learning new things, tackling fulfilling and possibly difficult new challenges, traveling more and lastly, expanding my time with loved ones thus slowing down the passage of time. Mr. Ryan artfully translated a potentially ambiguous subject into an interesting and comprehensive read. Thank you.
