This review is going to be a bit of a mess, I just finished reading it and I usually take a day or two before I write the review just to get everything in perspective. Anyways moving along….
Basileios Argeneau is a 3,538 year old immortal who is now a lawyer. I guess he’s vampire in more than one way (get it cause lawyers are considered bloodsuckers…no? I’ll stop) He is Lucian and Victor’s brother. He is said to be bossy, stubborn and quite a lot like Lucian which is why they often have arguments and Basil prefers living in New York.
Sherry Carne is the owner of a kitchenware store in Toronto. She is also very much a mortal. Her mother died a couple of years ago and her father abandoned her after her brothers death when she was a child. She is a workaholic and really wants her business to thrive which is why she doesn’t many friends or other hobbies.
Let me start off by saying that for quite a few years I really loved this series, it had cool vampires, a lot of humor, sweet and soft romance with some sexy time but something changed in the last couple of books.
There was just a lot of stuff happening in the book. The romance was practically non-existence, they only met a couple of days and while some books manage to make me think that the protagonists are actually in love after only meeting each other a couple of days, this book didn’t. Also the I love you’s came a bit too early for me considering they don’t know each other and yes I know they are meant to lifemates and most of the couples in the series had only known each other for a small amount of time as well but those couples atleast spend a lot together and were not just trying to find some immortal criminal or were hiding from some criminal immortal with a whole bunch family members.
Quibbles: Apart from the lack of romance, Basil had 22 oh sorry 26 children (four of which died) with another woman who was not his lifemate, she was his ‘friend’. Seriously unless the children were born from in-vitro, you have to feel something for the woman you have 22 children with. Basil said that it was because him and Mary were lonely, tired of living and wanted a reason for living, fine I could understand that I could even understand having till about 4 children together but 22. Are you kidding me?
I guess whenever they felt tired of living again, they decided to have a child and I think the reason Basil doesn’t have more children is because of the 1 child per a hundred year rule. He says that they don’t now and have never lived together, how does that work if they both wanted a child and both of them raised them? Their youngest child is only 25 years old. Sherry is only 32 years old herself and she doesn’t have children or is planning to. Now she’s a step mother to 22 children. How can Sherry be okay with that, maybe it would have been different if had children with some women and not just one woman nope I don’t think so. How can anyone be ok with that is beyond me…

Other than that Elvi (Victor’s mate from The Accidental Vampire), she really annoyed me, her behaviour first when she accused Sherry, then making Sherry dress up in her choice of clothes and then her apology to Sherry…it just bugged me. Lastly, Sherry I felt for her, the poor woman’s life gets uprooted and she ends up in a house full of vampires but she took it quite well too well…the immortal presence in her life and the fact of how quickly she forgave her father for all he did, did not sit well with me either. She was mad at him for a couple of minutes and then BAAM she forgives him because of a something Elvi says.
I miss the older books style where the couple actually had alone time without their whole family in the same house and meddling with every little thing/aspect of their life. Give them space people! I also miss the humor.
I know I sound pretty harsh but I just expected more from this book. *sad sigh*
Overall, this just didn’t work for me….I might still read Justin Bricker's story if he ever gets one but for now I’m be giving up on this series.

---The bad guy---
Hey, if the bad guy had been this funny the whole time, I would have been rooting for him. But, darn, he's only funny in this book, and things don't end well for him.
This book was a big step-up from the last one because there was actual personality to the characters instead of them being cardboard cut-outs. Because, everyone knows that cardboard has the least personality of all of the boards.
Oh, I take that back...
These guys are more interesting than our book characters in the previous book.
So in this one, we have Sherry and Basil. She meets with a teenage vamp when the bad guy comes storming into her store, looking to kill the girl. They run together and end up in a pizza place. Cuz, you know, running is tiring. Stopping for pizza makes sense.
And, while stopping for pizza, after just witnessing the bad guy make a pregnant lady slit her own throat and then barely escaping him by taking a cop's gun and shooting him a bunch of times, why not talk about boys. That's what we girls do, after all. We can't go more than a few minutes without talking about boys or our uterus's will jump out of our bodies and go look for a better host.
So, teen-vamp tells Sherry that she has a vampire life-mate and he is on his way to meet her - here at the pizza joint. It's a blind-date, y'all!! And, like most blind-dates, he shows up and she finds out he is thousands of years old and has no sense of humor.
Sherry makes a joke because his name is Basil, and teen-vamp is pronouncing it like the spice. She says he's more like pepperoni..
“As in you’re the pepperoni in her pizza,” Stephanie said, and burst out laughing.
Basileios stared from one to the other blankly, and then asked Stephanie, “You’re quite sure this woman is my match? There is no mistake?”
Sherry wrinkled her nose at the man. “Be nice, spice boy. I woke up this morning on earth. Five hours later I’ve stepped into the twilight zone. Cut me some slack here. I was just teasing you to let off a little steam.”
“Hmmm,” he murmured.
So, I immediately like Sherry and dislike Spice-boy. But, Basil gets better as the book goes on and I eventually liked him too. He must have worked that stick out from his ass.
Or this guy showed up.
Another good thing about this book was that there wasn't a bunch of waffling and angst over the whole life-mate thing. Sherry listened to everything and accepted it pretty easily. She was sensible about everything, but still had a great sense of humor and rattled Spice-boy enough to make me happy. Overall, it was entertaining and best-of-all, it was the last one of these I had to read to get to the book I've been waiting for forever.
Please don't let me down, next book!!

The heroine: Sherry Carne - owns a store that sells kitchen appliances, gadgets and everything you could possibly need in a kitchen. She has worked very hard from the time she was in college to make her store a success and it is.
The Hero(es): Basileios Argeneau - an immortal who is over 3000 years old, born in Atlantis where they were technologically advanced. Atlantis is where the nano’s were created that heal them from nearly everything and keep them at the age of about 25, but require more blood than the body is able to produce to keep working. Basil is on the north American council and is the brother of Lucian who is the head vampire in charge.
The Story: Sherry is minding her own business in the office of her store when a teenage girl runs through the store and into the office. She hides behind the wall and sneaks peeks through the one way window to the store. Sherry sees men enter who are looking for the girl. So she tries to help the girl get away.
Sherry finds out the men were vampires and the young woman tells her she is as well and she has a surprise for sherry which turns out to be an extremely handsome and somewhat formal speaking man. Sherry also finds out that she is possibly the fated mate of the sexy man and that they have to keep her with them for her safety.
I liked this story because it flowed well and though Sherry seems to take everything well at first she kind of freaks out in her head a few times at all the crazy information she finds out. It is also pretty funny that all the immortals she encounters (except Basil) can read her mind and do so often especially when she is freaking out.
The romance was great, the book was steamy and I liked the side stories about the no-fanger’s that were out to kidnap the girl and about the fact that there may have been another immortal in Sherry’s life that she never knew about.
The narration was fine, but I like dual narration with a female and a male narrator. So I take off one point for the narration. I will definitely continue to read more from this series. I like that each can be basically read as a stand-alone since I started at book 30 and am now jumping around to whatever books sound interesting to me. I don’t know why but I like when the male is the immortal/vampire better than when the female is.

February 8, 2018DNF@50%. I was utterly bored by this book. It drags and drags on things previously covered on the series, such as the origins of the immortals. This is probably with intent on making them standalone. I get and respect that, but way too much page space is used with that purpose. It’s stunting progression significantly and losing me completely in the process. Absolutely nothing of note has happened in the last 30/50%. The main characters are also not very interesting and I don’t feel a connection to them and between them. I’m not sure if I’m willing to try another in the series. I loved so many of them but am feeling burnt out on this world and there’s just not enough variety anymore.

This formula is getting extremely stale. It is all so rote by now that you know the heroine will have had the entire vampire life explained to her by third chapter, then we know Leo is going to show up and menace, then we spend dozens of chapter protecting her in an authoritarian fashion while introducing as many past couples as possible until time to end the book, one chapter of plot, denouement, and then boom we are in love forever! Even one of the characters brings up the ridiculousness of all these supposedly immortals suddenly finding all these mates. I really hope the author didn't bring up Basil's 20-odd kids so she could extend this another 20 odd books.
And seriously, you can't spend 20 plus books talking about how lifemates can't influence each other and then expect me to buy this repeated "well maybe this mysterious vampire thinks you're his lifemate" thing. Hello, did you seriously forget that plot connivence that drives every book toward the middle of this one? I mean if several characters repeat the "can't influence" evidence then these same characters discuss whether this other mysterious vampire might think she's his life mate as though it is an actual option. Without saying that the vampire would have to be a moron who knew nothing about how lifemates really work.
I guess I would have just been left with a ho-hum read, but then I got the "mama was raped" part of the storyline which the author immediately retcons into being ok because you know it wasn't rape rape and she really wanted it anyway. WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK? WHY AM I READING THIS SHIT? Rape in romance novel is bad enough but the main character literally goes from hating the dude to "don't hurt my daddy" in two pages of bullshit. And the not really rape part makes me so angry. Don't fucking bring into the story in the first place if you are going to treat the subject so poorly. You want her father to be an actual vampire write it in better.

Basileios is my least favorite Argeneau brother, I disliked him even more than Jean-Claude.
He was suppose to be more like Lucian but he was nothing like him. He didn't have Lucian's sense of honor or his strong values for family or his protective instinct. Basil is the guy who was in a sexual relationship with a " friend " and they had 26 kids together... considering you are only allowed to have one child every 100 years, that is a lot of years to be with someone.. he spoke about his over 2600 years of being with the " friend " mother of his 26 children in few sentences and acted as it meant nothing... Because according to him, " we didn't live together." but he raised the kids with her and was very much part of their individual lives. His youngest child is 25 years old,,only 8 years younger than Sherry. That means Sherry can not have a child for the next 75 years. I can't believe any women would be ok with hearing her lifemate was spreading his seeds with another woman, a woman who was part of his daily life for that many years, the mother of his children but the relation wasn't serious enough. sorry, I don't buy it. But the same idiot knew he was in love with Sherry after 5 days while they were either traveling, spending time hiding, hunting the bad guys, being with other couples, spending time in bed or eating pizza. Yeah, Sure!
There wasn't enough humor and Elvi was very annoying. I am not even going to comment about Alexander or Sherry's mom.

In a welcome change of pace, chapter one of this book--#21 in the Argeneau series no less--brings the unsuspecting mortal life mate of an immortal into emergency contact with all three kinds of immortals and a pretty thorough explanation on the run of what they are.
Right on page one, Stephanie, the teenager who was turned immortal against her will by Leo the evil rogue, runs through Sherry Carne's kitchenware store in Toronto and slams into Sherry's private office to hide from Leo. When Leo and his gang enter the store, using mind control on the customers, Stephanie and Sherry flee out the back, and Sherry witnesses several of Stephanie's superpowers in addition to Leo's.
And one of those powers is like Marguerite Argeneau's--Stephanie can sense a life mate for some immortal. Stephanie and Sherry take refuge in a diner, the evil ones pass them by, and Stephanie explains she's already called the Rogue Hunters for help, they're on their way, and they're bringing Sherry "a surprise."
Sherry's surprise is Basileios, born in 1529 BC in Atlantis, who lost his life mate in the fall of Atlantis and has been unmated since--but not celibate; his daughter Katricia (only 1600 years old) is now life mate to Teddy, the immortal-friendly police officer of Port Henry, Ontario. So sometimes, 3500 years later, a lonely immortal can get a second chance.
So Sherry knows the whole deal with immortals (don't call them vampires) from the start, including the life mate part. There is some hesitation (for a day or so?) about the life mate thing with Basileios, because the main indicator of a life mate is the immortal's inability to read his/her mind and Stephanie can't read Sherry either. Hmm. But then other immortals admit they have trouble reading her too. There's something about Sherry that makes it hard to do, but not impossible (and one or two of our immortal friends can read her easily), and that becomes the main mystery of this story. The solution is quite surprising and definitely changes everything Sherry knew about her life.
The other indicator of life mate status comes on immediately, though. That's the reawakening of pleasure in food and sex for the jaded old immortal, and Sherry and Basil arouse each other instantly and wind up having sex like they've never experienced it before, in great detail of course. There are a lot of erotic scenes as they discover each other--you may want to skim some of them; I did.
And there's humor here and there, or at least drollness. And, of course, action with Leo and his equally evil sons. Stephanie is as much fun as ever. Sherry, sensible business person that she is, is remarkable for her ability to adjust quickly to the Argeneaus' world...but will she agree to being turned into an immortal? Basileios is okay, I guess, but as with some of the other super-old ones, I didn't see much effect from having lived so long.. All in all, enjoyable reading, so four stars, including that half star each book gets for the author's brilliant idea of Atlantis and the nanos.
Right on page one, Stephanie, the teenager who was turned immortal against her will by Leo the evil rogue, runs through Sherry Carne's kitchenware store in Toronto and slams into Sherry's private office to hide from Leo. When Leo and his gang enter the store, using mind control on the customers, Stephanie and Sherry flee out the back, and Sherry witnesses several of Stephanie's superpowers in addition to Leo's.
And one of those powers is like Marguerite Argeneau's--Stephanie can sense a life mate for some immortal. Stephanie and Sherry take refuge in a diner, the evil ones pass them by, and Stephanie explains she's already called the Rogue Hunters for help, they're on their way, and they're bringing Sherry "a surprise."
Sherry's surprise is Basileios, born in 1529 BC in Atlantis, who lost his life mate in the fall of Atlantis and has been unmated since--but not celibate; his daughter Katricia (only 1600 years old) is now life mate to Teddy, the immortal-friendly police officer of Port Henry, Ontario. So sometimes, 3500 years later, a lonely immortal can get a second chance.
So Sherry knows the whole deal with immortals (don't call them vampires) from the start, including the life mate part. There is some hesitation (for a day or so?) about the life mate thing with Basileios, because the main indicator of a life mate is the immortal's inability to read his/her mind and Stephanie can't read Sherry either. Hmm. But then other immortals admit they have trouble reading her too. There's something about Sherry that makes it hard to do, but not impossible (and one or two of our immortal friends can read her easily), and that becomes the main mystery of this story. The solution is quite surprising and definitely changes everything Sherry knew about her life.
The other indicator of life mate status comes on immediately, though. That's the reawakening of pleasure in food and sex for the jaded old immortal, and Sherry and Basil arouse each other instantly and wind up having sex like they've never experienced it before, in great detail of course. There are a lot of erotic scenes as they discover each other--you may want to skim some of them; I did.
And there's humor here and there, or at least drollness. And, of course, action with Leo and his equally evil sons. Stephanie is as much fun as ever. Sherry, sensible business person that she is, is remarkable for her ability to adjust quickly to the Argeneaus' world...but will she agree to being turned into an immortal? Basileios is okay, I guess, but as with some of the other super-old ones, I didn't see much effect from having lived so long.. All in all, enjoyable reading, so four stars, including that half star each book gets for the author's brilliant idea of Atlantis and the nanos.

While The Immortal Who Loved Me fit the typical Argeneau MO, I was in this case severely disappointed by something the author integrated into the story. Due to that, I feel too biased to review the book in a non-personal manner.
That being said, I'm sure most fans of the series will enjoy the book. It sadly doesn't introduce anything innovative/new, but it also never promised to do so and to my knowledge, fans don't count on anything the like, either.
Regardless, I'm sure it could be an enjoyable read as long as you don't mind the fact that the issue of mind control/consent/rape that had been criticised by some reviewers in the past was first addressed and then belittled. If this is a sensitive topic for you, I would personally recommend you skip this title.

The Immortal Who Loved Me

I am absolutely flabbergasted. If I were talking instead of writing, I would be practically speechless. We're up to book 21 in the Argeneau series, and while Sands has at times struggled to remain fresh and coherent, it has still been an enjoyable series. But this book? I had problems with this book. Don't even bother reading if you don't want spoilers, because that is all I am going to be doing here.
The book starts off kind of novel, lots of drama and violence, and Stephanie (the teen Edentate i.e. vampire without fangs who isn't crazy from previous books) is the heir apparent in finding life mates. And this time, instead of maneuvering, Stephanie is very up front, hey vampires are real and this is your life mate, this is what a vampire is, all of that, it is right out in the open. Consequently, I think a new reader could actually start here, which is unusual for such a long running series. Everything was going along fairly smoothly, and while Sherry and Basil's chemistry wasn't the best (nothing like Basil's bother Lucien and his lifemate Leigh) I was enjoying this more than the previous couple of books, and then we hit the first speed bump: the hero Basil, has been having babies every 100 years or so over the past 3000 years with a friend of his, and as recently 25 years ago. Ok, that threw me for a loop. But he explained and while I was still not precisely thrilled with it, I understood his motivations, life is boring and they found having children fulfilling. So on we went. Then we got closer to the end and we started realizing Sherry had been controlled by a vampire her entire life. Turns out her father, while an effed up drunken immortal 19 year old, used mild mind control to convince Sherry's happily married mother to have sex with him. Later he found Sherry's mother in a hospital after she tried to kill herself over a pregnancy from an infidelity she couldn't understand, and he used mind control on them to try to fix his mistake and he stuck around. When Sherry's parents eventually divorced, he stepped in as an uncle. As Sherry aged, he wiped his image from her mind to show back up as her best friend. Later he did it again and got her to hire him for her new business. And all the while wen she went off the rails, so to speak, he would control her or wipe her mind to "fix" things. Naturally, Sherry was completely devastated and righteously angered. But then Elvi, who seemed a reasonable and sensible person in her own book, turned into a sociopath and explained how what Sherry's sperm donor did was alright because mortal parents would do it if they could, and the rape really wasn't that bad because it wasn't a violent violation. WTF? Then Basha (from a previous book also) finally had to/got to kill her own son Leo, who is the true villain of this current story arc. And Sherry realized everything is hunky dory and she looks to go rescue her dad from the horrific punishment he is due (violent though the punishment was, it seemed like an appropriate one to me). Sherry and Basil admit their love, they find out Sherry's paternal grandfather will be showing up, and the book basically ends.
So basically, I am not at all pleased with this book. I am not pleased with the way this book handles consent, and I am not pleased with this lopped off ending. I honestly don't know if I am finished with this series, but unless something spectacular is happening in the next book I am doubtful I will continue. I am sorry to say, but this story has negatively colored the entire series for me. No rating from me, only disappointment.

There comes a time, when things should just stop. With this book, that time has come for this series.
I have all of the Argeneau books, I love the characters, love the humour, love the storylines - but not this time.
This book brought nothing at all to the series, the main characters were one dimentional, the plot was weak at best, there were too many old characters popping in and out. I suppose the writer wanted to revisit...but it did nothing but distract.
The villain of the piece was not the no fanged Leonius but the lack luster writing and disjointed story line.
Im sorry, but the idea that an immortal, upon finding that he forced a woman to have sex with him (read slight mental push)and got her pregnant, just happened to come accross her in a hospital and realize his error, then spends the next 32 years loitering around the family to watch over his child bothers me. I can slightly get my head around the Uncle Al persona, but pretending to be your childs best friend is just wierd. And then in the space of less than a chapter have our heroine forgive daddy, realize that he really hadnt done anything any parent would do and rush to his side just does not compute.
I realise that not everyone has read all the books in this series, but for those of us who have, do we really have to go through page after page after page of the same explanation of the origion of the vampire. Would not at this stage an explanitary chapter at the beginning of the book surfice. Those who needed to read it could, those of us who do not could skip it.

After 20 some books the series has had it’s up’s and down’s for me. I have my favorites and the not so great ones, but this time around I wasn’t disappointed and had a marvelous time returning to the Argeneau series.
I’d say this book can be read as a stand-a-lone or be a starter into the series.

The Immortal Who Loved Me delivers a new storyline with a little mystery, humor, and a sweet romance.
I loved the start. Sherry won me over on the very fist page. I liked her and liked that she had a good head on her shoulders. Stephanie, a little girl we have seen pop in and out of the books, was a nice addition. The poor girl has it ruff. I liked her interaction with Sherry and loved her comparing lifemates to pizza when explaining things to Sherry. Made me laugh.
The humor was remarkable in this one. I loved the miss pronounce of Basil (pronounced Baw-zil). Took me by surprise and had me smiling. Then their was Bricker he was kinda of an ass in this one, but boy did he have me laughing when he spit out all the different names for a mans penis. Yes, their are several names to call a mans penis and that whole scene was hilarious. Really, you need to read it.
Basil was adorable. He totally screwed up explaining things and had Sherry thinking someone slipped her something, until they shared their first kiss and then, well she starts to rethink things. I loved Basil and Sherry. They had several great moments. It was just so much fun reading about these two.
It was fantastic for me as a fan of the series to see old favorites pop in. I just love seeing old characters in any storyline show up.
We finally and I mean finally get closer on Livius, one of the bad guys who has been reeking havoc throughout several books. I’m glad that’s done, but we still have one more bad guy and all of Livius sons to find, but part of this plot comes to a closer and I’m glad.
I did have some issues with the book.
- I didn't like how abruptly the ending was. We learn that Sherry’s paternal grandfather will show up and then the book ends.
- I also wasn’t to found of how this book handles consent when we learn some very disturbing things about Sherry’s mother’s past and who her really father is. This was explained by Elvi, but how it was explained ya it makes some sense, but still it’s rape in a form.
- I also felt that Basil and Sherry needed to talk more about the kids. Basil has had a kid every 100-years with a friend. This was just said and then they move on. I can understand where he's coming from, living so long, but still it's a hard issue to tackle and I felt the author didn't tackle it. I wouldn't be able to move on from this very easily.
Even with the few issues I had, I still ended up really liking this book. The Immortal Who Loved Me brought me back to what I love about this series. A fun loving story filled with characters to fall in love with and humor to keep you laughing.

The Immortal Who Loved Me es el libro numero 21 de la saga Argeneau creada por la autora Lynsay Sands y narra la historia de Basil ( hermano de Lucian ) y Sherrry, un nuevo personaje.
Esta saga es una de mis favoritas de todos los tiempos, no solo porque es distinta a otras de este estilo sino tambien porque le tengo un gran cariño, tiene ese algo que la hace especial y aunque quizas estas ultimas novelas no sean tan increibles como los primeros libros, es algo normal al ser una serie con tantos libros, aun asi siguen siendo historias divertidas y singulares que te hacen pasar un muy buen rato.
La historia de Sherry y Basil es agil de leer y muy entretenida, sigue la misma linea que los libros anteriores, por lo que si te han gustado las novelas anteriores, estoy segura de que disfrutaras esta lectura y si no has iniciado esta saga, te la recomiendo.

She then meets a man she will learn is her life mate, Basil Argeneau. Basil has lived for centuries, and lived when they first lived in Atlantis. Has had many children, and already had one life mate. But that was eons ago, and feels more alone than ever. He keeps busy with keeping their kind supported financially, being a member of the council, and bugging his brother Lucian. He definitely keeps himself entertained, but always goes home alone. When he is asked to guard Sherry, he finds that he can’t read her, and with other signs, he knows that she is his life mate. A woman with wit and humor, that is driven and not afraid to speak her mind. As they discover each other, and the danger circling them, there is a secret from Sherry’s past that could hinder everything.
The Immortal Who Loved Me is the 21st installment of the series. And my, I can’t believe how this series has grown. I remember when the first book came out, and Sands introduced me to vampire romance (yes before Twilight came to being), and I fell in love. Her writing is still just as phenomenal as it was back then. It is always fun to see those earlier couples take a role in the later books. And my favorite couple, Lucian and Leigh, definitely take a major role. Which I loved, and with the hero being Lucian’s brother, who definitely see that brotherly affection, and some horrible yet entertaining teasing (but Lucian so deserves it.). Well this story was quite a fun ride, and I had such an enjoyable time with this one. Now it wasn’t as good as some of the other books of the series, but I really liked seeing more of the teenage girl Samantha, and we see the old villain Leo. He still isn’t dead yet.
The characters were so good for each other, and I loved this pair. Well I have loved every pair of this series. However, I found Sherry and Basil a bit more unique. One being with how old Basil is, he is one of the oldest of their kind, and has waited hundreds of years for a life mate. And there were some twists to his character that I didn’t see coming. I won’t reveal them, but trust me; you will love him even more. Quite a hoot when Sherry learns of them though. Sherry is a heroine you can love. She is strong willed, passionate, and a fighter. I loved her spirit and her humor.
This story is a fun vampire romance, with all the humor and wit you can expect from Lynsay Sands, enough adventure and intrigue to keep you at the edge of your seat, and the writing so engaging you wonder where all the time has gone while reading. Guaranteed that you get lost in this story and fully involved in this story of romance, passion and suspense. PAGE TURNER!!

A lovely romance that was both sweet and sexy, The Immortal Who Loved Me was a fantastic read. It was a great book from an author that never disappoints and I really liked it.
Sherry was a great heroine. She was calm in the face of chaos and more resilient than she gave herself credit for. I thought she was lovely.
Basil was wonderful. He was a sweet, kind man who was very devoted to his loved ones, whether it was his children, brothers, or life mate. He was likable as well.
The romance was both sweet and steamy. Sherry and Basil obviously cared about each other right from the start. Not to mention that super hot chemistry between them. Definitely turned up the heat. I thought they were a lovely couple.
The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely.
The Immortal Who Loved Me was a wonderful paranormal romance that I really liked. Romance loves, this is a book worth checking out.

Okay this is book #... I forget but who cares I love this series. However after about 20 plus books characters can be forgotten or mixed up. I confess I blanked on a couple until bam it clicked again.
Basileios "Basil" Argeneau meets his life mate Sherry Carne.
Sherry didn't even know vampires "immortals" existed until Stephanie hid in her store followed by Leonius and his sons. Needless to say she is soon thrown into a whole new adventure for her. Filled with running from the Rogues, finding out vampires do exist, being a possible life mate to a hot guy named after a spice, to uncovering a mystery that has surrounded her her whole life. Either that or she's crazy.
So on top of a new mating couple we get to revisited some of our favorite characters from previous books. The setting is Canada; Port Henry, Toronto, and London. With plenty of vehicles, beds, and rooms in between...
I was looking forward to this book and I wasn't disappointed at all. A little curious on what happened after it ended but not disappointed. Basil and Sherry were cute together and complemented each other nicely. I loved her humor and how she just kept bouncing back even after everything that was revealed and happened. Stephanie was also a high point in the book. I can't wait to see more of her I find her an extremely entertaining character.

Filled with running from the Rogues, finding out vampires do exist, being a possible life mate to a hot guy named after a spice, to uncovering a mystery that has surrounded her her whole life. Either that or she's crazy.
So on top of a new mating couple we get to revisited some of our favorite characters from previous books. The setting is Canada; Port Henry, Toronto, and London. With plenty of vehicles, beds, and rooms in between...
I was looking forward to this book and I wasn't disappointed at all. A little curious on what happened after it ended but not disappointed. Basil and Sherry were cute together and complemented each other nicely. I loved her humor and how she just kept bouncing back even after everything that was revealed and happened. Stephanie was also a high point in the book. I can't wait to see more of her I find her an extremely entertaining character.

Until now I considered "The Lady Is a Vamp" the worst Argeneau novel, but now we've got another strong contender, "The Immortal Who Loved Me". If you had thought that Jean-Claude was the weakest link among Argeneau brothers, think again when never-mentioned-before Basil appears. A sperm donor for 26 babies, a father of those children, who never loved, married nor lived with the mother of his offspring. A Milennia-long friends-with-benefits arrangement. Yup, definitely a perfect catch.
Not to mention his idea of a romance is checking if all lifemate symptoms work immediately after his first meeting with a prospective lifemate. It's closer to a medical examination than a romantic encounter. He doesn't need to woo a woman when all symptoms are there. There's no romance, no chemistry, and no efforts are needed to bed her. She's just too willing to do it in any place, public or private. All things considered, Basil and Sherry seem to be the most boring and uninvolving couple in the whole Argeneau series.
It's also quite weird that the only truly interesting character in this book is a repentant immortal rapist who used mind control to coerce sex when high on drugged blood. His storyline was controversial, the rushed family reconciliation unconvincing, not to mention Elvi's convoluted logic of defining rape.

It was a story with several interesting elements like Sherry, the heroine, being someone with a past that took some time to understand, there is some advance in the overall plot but the romance could have been more challenging even with the life mates matter.
There were a few moments I found funny.
I just think the way the romantic relationships are develop could be more dramatic or funnier like in the first stories. The life mates notion and the expectations that come with it can be a little too predictable and repetitive.

The serie is repetitive but all the same I liked it, and I can´t stop reading(or listening as in this case) them once and again.

This isn't my favorite in the series. While I enjoyed the opening, Stephanie is running from Leo and his no fangers and tries hiding in Sherry's kitchen store. This kicks off Sherry finding herself dragged into a world she doesn't understand or know anything about. I loved Stephanie in these first scenes too (actually she's probably my favorite character in the whole book). She's smart and funny. I find it interesting that she can see the energy connection between potential lifemates.
But after the initial kick off to things, well things frankly became a little boring through the whole middle of the book. I've heard the lifemates business explained so many times now it's repetitive and boring, add in that basically we now just get the group commenting on all of the things that they know are now going to happen because, yeah another new lifemate couple, and really we don't get anytime for Basil and Sherry to actually get to know each other. It's just oh you're my lifemate, non-immortal: I don't know but I just can't help myself with you, immortal: I love you immediately and completely.

Sherry Carne likes the way her life is going. Sherry finally has her dream business, a kitchenware store going great and making money. Sherry has no stress in her life, that is, until one afternoon, out of no where, a group of no-fanged vampires rampage through her store and start attacking her customers and employees. From that moment, Sherry is immediately thrust into the paranormal world of vampires. Her whole world just got turned upside down. Sherry now has to run as fast as she can, and put her trust in a another vampire, who just happens to be a young girl that these no-fang vampires are after. How on earth is Sherry going to comprehend what just happen and the fact that her store in now under attack? Oh and if that wasn’t enough on her plate, Sherry has also been told that she is a life-mate to a vampire and he is drop dead gorgeous!

Sooo. I skipped this one because of the reviews and read Bricker's story first and then came back for this one. After 20 books I couldn't just give up at the last drop. ^^
Surprisingly I liked it more than I thought I would after some reviews I read and a few good spoilers. (I don't mind spoilers, I actually love them). And I understand that some topics and stuff in this book can seem pretty bad for a few,but I didn't find it as bad.
I found Elvi's behaviour a little upsetting but I didn't really like her so that wasn't much of a surprise anyway.
I loved Basil. Everyone keeps shunning the poor guy but despite being a perfect gentleman I don't see what he did wrong. Because he kept having kids? If I were to live 3500 years I would start having kids as well. No offense.
Sherry was very good and impressive in the beginning.
When too much talking became even more talking and doing nothing it became obvious that there are problems. Too many people tried to interfere with their relationship. Too much drama added because of other people.
Why the hell was Elvi mad at Sherry? That was just crap.
Why the hell became Sherry after being a normal vampire accepting a panicky idiot blabbering person? I hate this kind of character jumps where for no apparent reason a character does a 360 transformation.
And Sherry woke up to reality after sleeping with the guy a few times. Well. Sure.
And don't blame me for my opinion but after reading 20 books on controlling people and 20 books in which vampires tell you how they constantly use mortals for sex with no reservation i don't see how Alexander's approach should be reprimanded. I mean Bricker talks non stop about womanizing and when such a case appears everyone seems to think it was brutal. Like hello, we'd been reading about this for 20 books good for you to wake up. Nice.
I don't blame Alexander. HE was young, as he states so, 19 is young for a boy. And he took care of his daughter. Anyway.

I have loved Lynsay Sands' Argeneau vampire series books since I read the first one. They are a light read, full of humor and romance. I got an advanced reader ebook of this in exchange for a fair review (the book doesn't come out until February). I was wondering if I was going to be tired of the same old "nanos pick the life-mates" thing, but this one had both main characters being told they were life-mates upon meeting instead of being "accidentally" thrown together, and I found I enjoyed Basil (who I don't remember too much about) and Sherry's story, and also learning more about one of the other character's abilities. It continues the series' storylines regarding the Rogue Hunters and Leo, but I don't know where she is going to go from here. I would recommend pre-ordering The Immortal Who Loved Me if you enjoy this series.

I love Lynsay Sands spin on the "vampire" genre. Instead of the typical vampires she instead writes about immortals who have come from the fallen Atlantis. It's different and refreshing.

Revisit old friends and meet new ones. I adore this series and always anxiously await the next installment. In this episode we meet Sherry Carne kitchenware supply store owner and according to Stephanie and Marguerite Basil’s life mate. Watching the two come together all the while dodging Leo and trying to unravel the other secrets in Sherry’s past is another fine romp. Lynsay Sands makes me laugh and fall in love with each of her characters.
