So hard to love Jamie! Ok, So it was honestly hard for me to push through this. I had to keep reminding myself that the book is supposed to be about him being a promiscuous guy. It just makes you angry at James/Jamie because Jamie is all about everyone, IN the moment. Which is fine on the one hand because he's upfront about it. On the other hand, he ended up hurting people who loved him.

First, the story tells you that this one person is who he wants, possibly loves only for him to do a 180 like she's mess on the bottom of his shoe. That's hard to wrap your head around when she showed empathy and compassion for him that the other woman did not and refused to. From my take, there's not enough accountability. Not when more than one person was mistreated. The way she was treated the last time she saw him was so awful. All of a sudden, she's portrayed as this crazy person. The conversations with Don were so repetitive. Jamie cries over and over about wanting someone to love him, but when it happened, he couldn't handle it with either one. At one point he tells him he's never seen him like this about a woman BUT he says that to him about two different women. I didn't end up feeling sorry for Jamie. I would have had he admitted that he also hurt someone else that was owed an apology. I loved finally meeting his brothers, I liked them more honestly. I'd like to read their stories even though something tells me it would be just as frustrating but I'm game. Tristan was definitely my favorite! I'm excited to read about him next. I'm actually a police clerk so I know this side of them all too well, some of them definitely are just like Jamie which is why I avoid dating them at all costs 😂 The writing was great, I just don't like the sudden turn on the one who loved him and was always there at the drop of a dime. Theres's ways to end things with respect to what you've shared. But that's what guys like this do so I guess it works for the story.

Jamie and Laurel’s Story . . .

This is the first I a new series and this is Jamie and Laurel’s story.
This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, engaging and realistic characters, trust, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and small town romance.

The only way I wouldn’t be afraid of the police is if they looked like the man on the cover of this book, which, admittedly, is part of the reason I picked this up. With the fact that I’m easy put aside, I will say that I enjoyed this one a bit more than I thought I might. I found the pacing and point of views a little jarring at first (one character’s narration is randomly interjected for two pages, for example), but things ironed themselves out fairly quickly. By the end, I was satisfied with a fun, albeit typical romance about a man who wants to change his promiscuous ways when he finds the right woman to capture his heart.
