Lynn Cahoon is the most prolific mystery writers out there, and with the 6th full novella/novel in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries, things are coming together quite well. Mia's ex comes back to haunt her, but it helps set direction for her future relationship with Trent. Levi and Christina take a step forward, and we learn a lot more about the larger coven. Toss in a beauty pageant where the contestants and their mothers all have secrets to hide and cause quite a stir about town. Thankfully, Mia's boss is dealt with so we can have one less drama (tho he did create a few good side stories). Great installment!

Over the years I've read several of the Kitchen Witch Mysteries by Lynn Cahool, so I was glad to pick up another one. These are always fun!

Description:
New York Times bestselling author Lynn Cahoon continues her enchanting Kitchen Witch Mystery series featuring everyone’s favorite, spellbinding kitchen witch Mia Malone. In a triumph for Mia’s catering business and cooking school, Mia’s Morsels is chosen to host a fall festival event in their Idaho mountain town—which means managing a bunch of stage moms and their social-media obsessed daughters as they get ready for the big beauty contest. There’s a lot riding on the results of the Harvest Moon Festival—it’s where the local coven leader is chosen for the following year. With a week to go before the coronation of the new queen, Mia must draw on her sleuthing powers to find out what’s going on—and whether this competition has gotten a little too cutthroat . .

My Thoughts:
All the fun characters are back in Magic Springs, Idaho. I really enjoy spending time with them. That coven is just scary in the lengths they go to in order to get a seat on the coven leadership. Each member who has a daughter seems to be going to extremes to make sure it's their own daughter who is chosen as the winner, despite the ban on using magic to influence the contest. And then there's a murder.

Also, there are some other things going on in at the same time. Mia is still having issues with her boss, Frank. Mia's ex-boyfriend turns up and causes problems. Christine is having security issues.
Trent gets a companion. Grans is working on a major issue. (I really like Grans as a character - she's fun). I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes cozy mysteries with a paranormal feature.

As I started to read #SixStunningSirens #NetGalley, I knew I was going to be in for a wild adventure.
Mia is a fun, lovable character, and I knew that I was going to love this book.
Mia owns Mia's Morsels, a catering business that she is determined to make a huge success. Unfortunately, Mia still needs her job as catering director for the lodge, after all, she still has bills to pay.
Her boss makes life difficult for her, but Mia sees through him and makes all her events memorable.
When her own business wins the contract to host the Magic Springs Harvest Festival, Mia has her hands full. One parent will do anything to have her daughter be crowned queen, and it's up to Mia to figure it out.
This is my favorite book in the series so far, it captured my attention from the beginning and I couldn't put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

This was an excellent addition to the Kitchen Witch Series!! I have grown to really enjoy Mia & Co. [and have completely fallen in love with Cerby!! ] and I look forward to each new book. After a run of disappointing books, the fact that this was just so good and I didn't want to put it down to do other things just warmed my soul!!

Mia has her hands over-full in this one and her "to-do" list just seems to keep growing! With a temperamental [::ahem:: re: moronic, jealous, troublesome etc etc ::ahem:: ] boss on the warpath [note, Karma works V E R Y well in this one. IYKYK ] and scheduling events and not telling Mia, a paranormal "beauty" pagent, that has a a history of sabotage that seems to be continuing that tradition, some serious bullying of a young, vulnerable girl and then a dead body [because, naturally ], along with all the regular stuff that Mia has to daily deal with, and Mia is about to explode. It was a real treat to see how she deals with all of it, how everything comes together and how the mystery [I had NO IDEA who it was!! How GLORIOUS!! ] is solved [add in Gran's special treat for Mia, and Christina's news, it makes for a really interesting ending ]; it was a touch rushed IMO, but this time, it really added to the drama and I found I didn't mind it as much as I typically do.

The way the book ends kind of made me feel like this was the last book [I looked for info on if another book is forthcoming and came up empty ] in the series and if that it so, it was a good ending, but I'm hoping not as this truly is one of my favorite series and I will be sad to see it end. I guess we can only wait and see.

Wow, Mia has her hands full! Our favorite Kitchen Witch has way too many irons in the fire! Her boss at the Lodge, Frank is on the war path, trying to set her up to fail by not tell her about events until three days before they are scheduled, after Mia's Morsels, being managed by Abigail steals a big event from the Lodge. While Mia's excited that her catering business has a big job, she's not sure she wants to be involved in the Fall Harvest Beauty Pageant, this event has a history of nasty consequences as part of the prize is a position on the powerful coven council and means many magical shenanigans. Mia's right hand and little "sister" Christina has graduated from culinary school and is ready to move on, and Mia's grandmother is up to something big. When bodies start falling, you know it will take everything Mia has, to hold it all together, stop the carnage, and keep everyone she cares about safe! Come along if you dare! Dollycas's Thoughts

We return to Magic Springs, Idaho just in time for the Harvest Moon Festival. Mia's Morsels has been selected to host the big event including the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant. This means building a stage for the contest and dealing with the contestants and their mothers or the significant person in their lives. The winner gets a seat for a family member on the local coven council for a year, bringing in enough money to change a person's life.

The coven believes there is some magical interference when contestants quit or are forced to leave the competition. Mia decides to investigate the situation herself with just one week to go before the new queen is crowned.  Someone has cast a spell. Mia needs to find out who before anyone else gets hurt.

_____

This is such a great series filled with witches and their familiars. Mia has her hands full with the happenings at Mia's Morsels, her second job at the Lodge, and all the things happening in her daily life. Ms. Cahoon has surrounded her with a wonderful supporting cast. They become more developed with each story.

The old school where Mia and Christina live and that houses Mia's Morsels is a fascinating place with new surprises always coming to light. Hosting a festival and beauty pageant there adds to the novelty of the place. While Mia is not a member of the coven we do meet several witches that are.

The mystery was full of twists, secrets, and several suspects. The suspects are witches and that makes it all that more entertaining. It was fun to see Mia juggle and follow all the clues with a little help from her friends and grandmother, although her grandmother has a private project of her own. Mia's problem was most of the clues were based in magic so how could she give the mortal police chief the evidence he needed?

Six Stunning Sirens is a charming mystery that kept me captivated as the pages practically flew across my Kindle. Magic, mystery, and a little romance come together in a smashing paranormal culinary mystery set in a unique old building that is sure to please everyone who enjoys this genre. For me, it was A Perfect Escape.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Kensington Cozies and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

Lynn Cahoon's Six Stunning Sirens is about Mia struggling to make her grumpy boss (who sabotages her at every chance) happy while also trying to help put out the Harvest Moon Festival events with her small business, Mia's Morsels. Everything is going according to plan, or as according to plan as a festival of witches and wizards can go, until someone's magic bounces back and kills them. Mia must find out who has been using magic to tamper with the events before someone else ends up dead.

I really liked Six Stunning Sirens! I thought it was really fun for the fall season. I'm starting to get into spooky season books and holiday books and this one came at the perfect time. I really like Lynn Cahoon's writing here, I thought the whole thing was charming. My favorite part was that I did not figure out what was going on until it was happening in the page, all my guesses were wrong. While I really enjoyed the book, it took me a few days to finish which means it was more of a leisure read than needing to know what happens next, that's why I gave it 4 stars.

"Six Stunning Sirens" the 6th instalment in the "Kitchen Witch" Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon which releases September 24, 2024

Mia Malone is looking forward to catering the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant, part of the local coven’s big autumn celebration—until death puts a chill in the air . . .

I love visiting Magic Springs, Idaho and catching up with Mia, Grans, Christina and Abigail. This time it’s the Harvest Moon Festival and a coven beauty contest that Mia and the gang are hosting , what could go wrong…

I adore Trent’s familiar, a cute little Maltese Cerby and the things he was getting up too. Can’t wait to see what Cerby gets up to in the next book as they learn to raise a hellhound…

I found the mystery very interesting as well as entertaining, full of twists and turns that kept me guessing till the very end. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Mia and Mia’s Morsels in book 7.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

While Mia toils as the event coordinator at the local Lodge, her boyfriend's mother, Abigail, has taken over running Mia's catering business--Mia's Morsels. When both venues bid on hosting the annual beauty contest for the Harvest Moon Festival, Mia's Morsels wins the contract. For Mia, it's a win-win. At least, that's what she thought before reality hit. Not only does she have her regular job (with its odious boss), but she's also stepping in to help Abigail get ready for the pageant. Making matters worse, Mia learns that this pageant gets cutthroat and that people have literally died in prior years. She's determined to see things run smoothly, but even with increased vigilance, one stage mom ends up dead and another in the hospital. Compounding the stress is the fact that Mia's assistant, Christina, is not just fighting with her boyfriend, but she's also begun applying for other jobs. Mia is both proud of Christina's accomplishments but also sad that she'll be losing her. It's going to take all of Mia's skills as a kitchen witch to make sure no other lives are lost.

This was a fast-paced read with intriguing action and wonderful characters, but I was utterly gobsmacked by how blasé everyone else was about the vicious nature of the pageant. They were all like, 'Oh, remember the year that two contestants and a judge died? LOL!' Both Mia and I had WTF all over our faces. There was all kinds of relationship drama between Christina and Levi, Abigail and her husband, Mia's grandmother and her beau, and Mia's ex-fiancé showing up on the eve of his wedding to whine about how it should have been Mia he was marrying. Ugh. These books always seem to have so much going on, and this one was no exception. Things worked out nicely, although I don't feel the eventual villain got the appropriate comeuppance. Hmpf.

Very good, probably deserving five stars, but I'm withholding one for the aggravations I endured while reading this.

Six Stunning Sirens is the sixth cozy mystery in the Kitchen Witch Mystery series. Mia Malone has been juggling her catering business and her full time job for a while now, but when Mia’s Morsels lands a huge job she may just see the end in sight. The Harvest Moon Festival’s big beauty contest decides who the coven leader for the next year will be and Mia’s Morsels is catering the event. The payday should be worth the drama of holding the event until someone turns up dead. Suddenly Mia is tied up in another murder investigation and will stop at nothing to uncover the magical wrongdoings that are threatening her business.

I have been a fan of this series since the beginning and enjoyed getting to visit Mia and the gang again. This magical mystery was fun, fast paced and full of great characters. I really enjoyed the back story and seeing how everything in Mia’s life is playing out. It always amazes me how extreme the coven can get, but it is entertaining all the same. This is a cozy mystery series I will keep coming back to because I love the characters so much. I can’t wait to see what comes next for this series and recommend it to cozy mystery fans!

Another excellent book added to this series! I love this series and this author. The bigger picture story lines in this series always have me coming back to see what is going to happen. The mystery in this book was a good one, I really didn’t know who did it until the end. I highly recommend this series and this author. Can’t wait for another one.

Magic Springs is brimming with magical activity as the annual Harvest Queen Contest is about to start, but not all the magic is positive and sweet. A wonderfully woven plot that is fun, complex and entertaining! Several story lines are woven together to make one extremely well written plot and compelling story! If you haven't read the entire series, I really recommend that you start at the beginning as each book builds another layer to the main characters' personalities and creates back story that will be more impactful if you are in the know during this book! I love a good well written cozy mystery and this book definitely delivers that! I'm only sad that I am now waiting for the author to create the next story in the series so I can find out what is happening next for the characters in this wonderful magical town!

My heart leapt into my throat when I finished this because I thought the series might be over, and this was my favorite of all the books so far. I checked and thankfully it isn’t. This latest is so much fun, and we learn more about everyone’s past, more about the citizens of the town, the coven, and just so much more. All the while, poor Mia is trying to run her business, run the Lodge’s business, and solve the latest in murderous mishaps. I just love all the characters, and I hope there are many more stories. Oh, why did I think this series might be over? Read this and find out! A wonderfully well-written addition to the series; can’t wait for more! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

We are back in Magic Springs, Idaho with Mia Malone. Mia morsels was chosen to host the Harvest Queen Festival for the magical community. There's been a history of drama and casualties. Mia is again busy working at the Lodge and dealing with Frank drama. When a dead body is found at the school. Mia must find the culprit and find out if the death was magical or human related.

I really enjoyed the mystery and following clues with Mia. I love the paranormal aspect of the book and learning more about the magical community. The writing is fantastic and hooked me right away. A perfect read for the Autumn season.

It's another great installment in the Kitchen Witch series. Learning more about the world that Mia could be involved with was a great twist in this one.
Hopefully, Mia's dealings with her ex are over, as I can't wait to see what is in store next for her and Trent! I can't wait for the next installment to see what Mia and the crew handle next.

Mia’s Morsels got the catering job for the Harvest Festival pageant and there couldn’t’ve been more drama if it’d been special-ordered. When a contestant’s mom was killed, Mia had to wonder if there was magic afoot and just what someone might do to ensure their own daughter won.

There were some good side stories too which were pretty fun. Everything ended with the fellowship of the Sleuthing Club in Mia’s kitchen along with some more good news. There wasn’t anything happening to worry about at the end, just a nice ending. I really hope there’ll be more books because now I can’t wait to see what’s next!

As the series goes on, I feel that the plot is happening around the characters without them being a part of it. Oh, a dude might be held hostage in a basement and need help? Guess I’ll go work at a beauty pageant instead.

A beauty pageant that takes competition to the next level but it isn’t the girls who you have to look out for…it’s the magical moms. Mystic Springs is a little different than most towns in Idaho, and Mia is a little different than most chefs. The one thing that they both have in common is magic. The town has a coven of witches and a few not so into the coven scene, like Mia, who is a kitchen witch. The main characteristic about being a kitchen witch is being a purveyor of peace. Mia has that talent in spades at least when it comes to anything or anyone with the exception of her boss Frank at the Lodge, oh and her cheating ex-fiancé, Isaac. Mia is a great character that does a great job of following the leads, juggling job and business, making time for boyfriend Trent, and being a big sister to bff Christina. The story is engaging, the clues are good, the food descriptions are amazing and the misdirection is well staged.

Mia’s only reason for working at the Lodge is to keep her catering dream, Mia’s Morsels, alive until it can thrive on its own. One would think that getting the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant job would be a windfall and a blessing. Believe it or not, in an effort to avoid getting the contract for the pageant, Abigail, Trent’s mom, submitted an outrageous price on the opportunity to play host. No such luck, the pageant officials like that they won’t be dealing with a mortal company. There still ends up being issues, hexes that bounce back, a murder, a mystery that involves the past, and a couple of couple issues. The big payout for handling the pageant catering and location could be enough money to get Mia out from under Frank’s thumb at the Lodge. That man is out to get her for no apparent reason, causing Mia more stress than she needs. You know what is good for stress, comfort food. The best sort of comfort food is nice warm soup like the chicken soup that Mia had prepped and ready in the freezer. Incidentally, the recipe is in the back of the book so you too can have a little comfort. Another bit of comfort is learning that there will be more books to this series because there are some big changes coming up for Mia and the gang. I am looking forward to the next books in the series.

Book Review: Six Stunning Sirens by Lynn Cahoon

Rating: 3 Stars

I just finished reading Six Stunning Sirens, the latest installment in Lynn Cahoon's delightful Kitchen Witch series, and I have to say, it was quite the charming read! This book follows Mia Malone as she gears up to cater the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant, a significant event for her catering business, Mia’s Morsels. Set against the backdrop of a cozy Idaho mountain town, this story combines the charm of a small community with a dash of magical intrigue.

Mia is excited about the opportunity to showcase her culinary talents while managing a gaggle of stage moms and their social-media-savvy daughters, all vying for a chance at the coveted title of queen. The stakes are high—winning means gaining inside access to the local coven's power, making this event even more intense. But just as the excitement builds, things take a dark turn when one of the stage moms is found dead and another is rushed to the hospital. Naturally, the coven starts to suspect that some magical mischief is at play. With the coronation just around the corner, Mia has to put on her sleuthing hat and figure out what's really going on in this cutthroat competition.

Overall, I found Six Stunning Sirens to be an entertaining addition to the series! I’ve really grown to enjoy Mia and her crew, and I've completely fallen in love with Cerby—their adorable hellhound companion. The mystery was well-constructed, keeping me guessing until the very end. Plus, the cozy setting made it easy to lose myself in the story. The pacing felt just right, with moments of tension balanced nicely against lighter scenes. And as a bonus, we even get some delicious recipes at the end!

While it didn't completely blow me away, it was still a solid read that kept me engaged from start to finish. If you’re looking for a whimsical mystery filled with magic, charming characters, and a touch of culinary flair, you might want to give this book a try!

Six Stunning Sirens by Lynn Cahoon is a Kitchen Witch story. Fun, for all. And now Mia’s Morsels is hosting the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant. They had won the bid over the Lodge, despite the fact fact that their vid was higher. Seems the Coven was worried about some of the “problems” the pageant had had the last few years and thought it could be better contained at the old school house. That meant Trent and Levi would have to build a runway in the back, though. Couldn’t have those spike heels sinking into the grass! Frank was doing everything he could to make her life miserable at the Lodge, where she had taken a full-time job as event coordinator to help pay the bills at the school house. She wan’t giving in, though. She would quit when she was ready. Hopefully she could hold out. Levi andChristina were fighting, which was never fun, but so were Trent’s parents. In fact his mother had moved into the school house with Mia. His father was a judge for the pageant and she was worried for him. He wouldn’t budge. She and Trent were fine, even though Isaac had made a last minute trip (days before his wedding) to Magic Springs to convince Mia to take hime back.

Mia is a fabulous character as are all of her friends. She comes to magic hesitantly, but respectfully. She has seen both good and bad and although her mother wanted nothing to do with it, she was coming around. Trent was the perfect boyfriend. Thoughtful, kind, giving. Lynn Cahoon has created a bevy of interesting and clever folks to round out this fun series. The mystery is a good one, rooted in magic, but easily solvable without resorting to magic, which make the local cop happy. Rooted in the past, as so many are. It is just, flat out, a good time.

Six Stunning Swans, the latest book in Lynn Cahoon’s Kitchen Witch series, is an excellent entry. Mia Malone is working a job she hates, mostly because of her truly despicable boss who goes out of his way to make her job and her life untenable. While she is working full time at The Lodge to cover her mortgage, her boyfriend Trent’s mother is running Mia’s Morsels. This presents an interesting angle in that Mia is the owner, but Abigail is currently the manager. The “six swans” referred to in the title are six contestants in a local, coven based beauty contest. Mia is indeed a kitchen witch and nearly all the characters are magical, as well. I’m not someone who normally reads paranormal books, but this series has grabbed and held my attention, mostly because the characters are human first, witches second. There is a murder and attempted murders and there are many suspects, which adds to the fun. One thing I truly love about this series is that the characters and their lives continue to evolve. So many other series that I read don’t do that and suffer as a result. I truly enjoyed this book and buzzed through it in just a couple of days. Lynn Cahoon has become one of my go-to writers because I know I will enjoy any books she writes. I highly recommend this book but do think the reader should read the previous entries in the series first. Four and a half stars.

This delightful series is enchanting and such fun to read. This is the Sixth in series in the Kitchen Witch Mystery Series. This was a charming and exciting addition to the series by cozy author Lyn Cahoon. Thank you to the author,Net Galley and to the publisher for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own.

In this excitng next in series our savvy protagnist is hosting a unique Fall theme beauty contest for daughters of the coven. When a murder occurs of one of the Mothers everyone is under suspicion. In addtion Mia is learning her powers and craft from her Grandmother that are not working and someone is attacking the cooking school with magic. Add in a new familiar in the form of a adorable small dog for Trent who adds humor and antics and everyone is on edge. Cats are added to the crew and much fun is going on while the cooking school is busy with orders for delivery and preparation for the contest. Mia and Trent are the perfect couple supporting each other. I love all the characters and how the author writes them all with such depth and fun.

This was one of the best cozy mysteries I have ever read. It was hysterically funny, engaging and a joy to read. I love the authors writing style as the well crafted characters are all a great addition to the series. Well done to the author. I cannot wait for the next in series. I read all her books cover to cover and love everything she writes. This is a outstanding paranormal series !

I have enjoyed the Kitchen Witch series as Mia has learned to embrace and master her witchy abilities whilst holding down a demanding day job at the Lodge and building a catering business, Mia’s Morsels. Along the way she has mentored the sister of her former fiance, fallen in love and tried to help remove the warlock spirit that inhabits her familiar, Mr. Darcey. The series has been chocked full of great characters and the reader has felt deeply invested in their trials and tribulations. So this book feels like it is tying up a lot of loose ends and if this is the last one of the series, it has ended on a high note.

This time Mia is involved in a harvest festival queen contest but not just any pageant. The contestants and their mothers are all part of the coven that is trying to get Mia to join. And since they all have magical powers, the normal course of competition is heightened when someone is determined to fix the contest using some dark means. Just who is behind it and why is not revealed fully until the end and before hand all sorts of nefarious deeds are committed including murder.

All the people that Mia loves join together to solve the mystery. They all have storylines that have neat conclusions. Karma is a great leveller and it has done its job with the characters who deserve comeuppances. It is a good end to a great series. Five purrs and two paws up.

Mia Malone is working two jobs to keep her dream of running her own business alive. Her catering company and cooking school needs help to get established, and so she is also working at The Lodge, in Magic Springs, for the foreseeable future even if her boss there is driving her nuts!

Boyfriend Trent's mom, Abigail, is running Mia’s Morsels for her and has just won them the contract for the Miss Magic Springs Harvest Pageant, which is hosted by the local coven and, as Mia is about to discover for herself, attracts problems every year. When the body of one of the mom's is found, Mia reluctantly begins an investigation knowing that the beauty queen business is anything but beautiful!

Book six in this great series didn't quite work for me. I liked the premise and the main protagonists were as good as always with Trent and Levi's relationships with Mia and Christina really fun to read about but there were also parts which were too stereotypical and formulaic which spoilt it a little. That said, there are hints of forthcoming events that I hope I will get to read about before too long.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Kensington Publishing and Kensington Cozies, but the opinions expressed are my own. Although I enjoyed this, it didn't quite reach the series normal heights. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

The sixth Kitchen Witch mystery doesn’t disappoint as we journey with Mia and the gang through the world of pageantry witch style!

Mia is still working hard to keep Mia’s Morsels afloat by working at the Lodge as the event coordinator while Abigail Majors her boyfriend’s mom and Christina run the company for her.
Fall is fast approaching and after winning the coven pageantry contract Mia is taking a week off from the Lodge to help get everything ready. It's all hands on deck, with difficult parents and hijinks abounding!

I understand and enjoy the alliteration of the title. After reading the book… the sirens portion throws me off. I took it to mean that we would be dealing with a new kind of witch. Totally not the case! We have a bunch of vain moms who are willing to maim and even it turns out...
kill to help their little precious win. Christina’s brother finally gets married and announcements abound! I feel like this is a very pivotal book in the series and should not be missed.

Not much looking back in this book, the mystery is completely contained within this book making it an easy and enjoyable read for the new and old readers alike. I look forward to reading book seven, which seems untitled now.
