They had nothing in common but a desperate passion…
Billionaire Jason Denning lived life fast and hard in a world where anything could be bought and sold, even affection. But all that changed when he met “Greta,” a beautiful stranger ready to explore her hidden desires. From a blue collar family, Gia Angelotti wore a badge, fought for right—and opened herself utterly to love him. Blindsided and falling hard, Jason does the first impulsive thing of his life and hustles her to the altar.
Until a second chance proved that forever could be theirs.
Then tragedy ripped Jason’s new bride from his arms and out of his life. When he finds Gia again, he gives her a choice: spend the three weeks before their first anniversary with him or forfeit the money she receives from their marriage. Reluctantly, she agrees to once again put herself at his mercy and return to his bed. But having her right where he wants her is dangerous for Jason’s peace of mind. No matter how hard he tries, he finds himself falling for her again. Will he learn to trust that their love is real before Gia leaves again for good?

Short novella as part of the 1001 Dark Nights series, this entry is written by Ms. Black and stars billionaire Jason Denning - when the story begins he is trying to track down his wife, who he hasn’t seen in almost a year. They literally had one night of passion and then she just left.
The Good Hot sex? Check. Sexy billionaire hero who will do anything for his woman? Check.
The Not So Good I tried to sympathize with Gia. I really did. But she dropped the man she supposedly loves for a year because she didn’t think he would want to deal with her family troubles? Really? At every turn, she completely dismissed his feelings because of her incredibly low self-esteem just had me threatening to throw my kindle. I just didn’t quite believe that she really loved Jason, probably because I didn’t think she loved herself at all.
The Bottom Line Hot sex doesn’t overcome an incredibly frustrating heroine, so I can’t quite recommend this.

Forever Wicked is the first book in the 1001 Dark Nights. I have been wanting to work through these a bit more here. Forever Wicked is a story that I really had fun with. I love marriage in trouble setups and this one was very interesting. I enjoyed how the author had this hero pining after the heroine. I didn't really understand her motivations on why she was always pulling away. The hero has to really pull some alpha moves to get her to give them a second chance. We see a man that is determined to fight for his marriage and he does it so creatively. The interactions between her family and the hero was perfection. The romance was a great erotic romance theme. There are deep layers within these more sensual scenes where we see this couple learn to reconnect.
Overall I had a good time with this one and enjoyed this Shayla Black and definitely want to explore this series more.
This was the 3rd and last try... Ms Black just isn't for me
The few notes I made while reading it[they are from the last third of the novella] - Don’t worry about money, Gia. I have nine zeroes in my bank total. I can handle a day of shopping. I feel a headache coming -This relaxed version of her husband was giving, fun to be with. I don't understand what this means -OMG this dude wants to learn what love is by reading the dictionary! -Why can't they talk to each other?! Is it out of fashion to communicate?! -This isn't underhanded, at all.
This book was WICKEDLY delicious! I freaking LOVED Jason. Holy moly this book is awesome. I hate that he has such a toxic relationship with his mother.
I love the he doesn’t think he knows how to love but he does he really does and the one person he finally loves well , that just happens to be his wife.
FANFREAKINGTASTIC narration I love with Christian Fox narrates these books!
1001 Dark Nights, "Forever Wicked" is a decadently sweet read. Left confused and still wanting his wife, Jason plots to get her back. Rich and used to getting his way in life, he sets about a devious path of blackmailing her back into his life,
and bed.
But he didn't count on the strings Gia would bring to the bartering table.
Look this book has been on my TBR for an eon. I'm not even sure why I added it in the first place. I've always been a read the whole series in order sort of person, so I had been avoiding actively reading this because I hadn't read the rest of the series. Awhile back I finally got around to picking up the first book in the series and didn't enjoy it all that much. I was despairing of ever getting to the point where I would read this. But, it fit a challenge I'm doing and well I got over my series hang up by reminding myself that all of the 1001 books can be read in any order and are really stand alones. And that is true of this book. Yes, it exists in the Wicked Lovers universe, but reading the rest of the series isn't necessary for this book. That being said while this book was ok for me, I don't know that I'm going to continue the series. If this book had been fantastic I would be more interested in trying to read the rest and seeing if the series got better after book one, but this still didn't really do it for me.
I like my alpha men and all, and ultimately I like Jason as a character, but there's a difference between being the alpha I want to protect my woman and taking all choice and decisions away from her. I want my women to be strong too. Gia needed to learn she can trust Jason to stand beside her, but I liked that she was a strong woman. The weakest part of this book for me is that Jason's "caring" for Gia leads her further and further from being the capable woman that she is. Being her Dom doesn't mean wrapping her in bubble wrap and taking away every decision she makes for herself and handling it because money solves everything. This is tempered by the fact that at least by the end of the novella they were talking about things and communicating why his high handedness, without even talking to her, was a problem. This is where I come back to that ultimately I liked Jason as a character. He did truly seem to care about Gia. I was happy they worked things out and have a chance at a HEA.
wow this one actually had me in tears a time or two which rarely happen on a novella. Loved these two crazy lovebirds and so glad they work everything out. hope to see them in the next story THORN & CALLIE FINALLY!!!!!
The Wicked Lovers series by the fabulous Shayla Black is an all-time favor of mine. Like all fantastic series, we find we have our favorites within, the ones that stand out, the ones we’ll read over and over, the ones that stay with us long after we’ve finished, and Forever Wicked falls right into these categories. I loved this story of Jason the billionaire and Gia the blue collar cop who meet and become attached after sceneing with one another at Club Dominion, the local BDSM club. They subsequently marry but Gia is forced to leave on their wedding night after a tragic incident involving her brother. The story begins a year later near their one year anniversary, and they are on the verge of divorce. Though it wasn’t an easy road, it was so satisfying to watch this unlikely couple discover the promising potential of their future together.
Jason is so used to women falling at his feet, mainly because he’s so wealthy but when Gia doesn’t seem interested in his money he realizes there is something different about her. What I loved about Jason, well besides he’s an ALPHA male and will do anything to make his wife happy on top of keeping her safe and satisfied, is his determination. I love it when a guy will do whatever it takes to win his woman back and I fell in love with him fighting for her and for them. He truly WANTED to be married to her. He was raised by some really cold people so he’s a little warped when it comes to love. In his world, money buys affection but since Gia isn’t interested in his money, it thows him off. However, it doesn’t stop him from trying to show her how he feels and that he enjoys buying her nice things, taking care of her, spoiling her, and helping her family.
Gia is a stubborn but lovable character. She’s Italian, doesn’t that explain it all? She’s loyal, to the extreme, and willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the sake of the people she loves. She can’t understand why a person like Jason would want to be with her and feels she doesn’t bring very much to the table, but being the lovable guy he is, he shows her how much she means to him. It takes a few nudges from Jason to help her realize maybe she went about things the wrong way. I mean, she’s not the only one to blame for their issues but it takes her longer to figure it out. This book was really emotional for me. There are two places that stand out, one is a wonderful scene towards the end with Gia and her mother at the restaurant where her mother shares some wise words. And the second was a scene with Gia and Jason in his car when everything is on the line. I really felt bad that Jason had such awful parents but Gia’s family totally makes up for them. Her family was great and I enjoyed reading their heartfelt moments.
Even though this is a novella, Shayla Black has crafted a second chances story that feels like a full length book. It is chock-full of emotion with the SB signature sex scenes that cause those little zings through all your girly parts. Her alpha males always end up on my book boyfriend lists. They are to die for.
From the moment we got our first glimpse of Jason and Greta in Logan’s book of the wicked lover series, I knew there had to be more to the two of them than the dominant submissive relationship. They are the opposites attract couple.
Jason Denning is the powerful and wealthy man who is used to getting what he wants, pretty much when he wants it. He is also a sexy Dom at our favorite club, Dominion. He comes from the corporate high class world where things like marriages and children are arranged and contracted. Love is not a word Jason knows the meaning to. Jason has to learn that there are things money can’t buy.
Gia Angelotti aka Greta, is what you would call a good woman. She a civil worker, kind hearted and loyal beyond belief to her family, but she also had secret needs. Joining club Dominion To express and learn about personal side, Gia got more than what was included with her monthly dues. Her connection with Jason lead to be more just a dominant submissive relationship, he got her to marry him. On their wedding night, while eloping in Vegas a tragic accident the falls upon Gia’s family. She leaves to care for her family. Meanwhile not speaking with Jason for almost a year.
Jason and Gia have to have one of my favorite stories from the wicked lover series. Touching, thought-provoking, emotional and sexy as hell, these to go on a roller coaster ride that shakes up both their lives. They both are so different and I think that what makes them so good together. He wants nothing more to have that woman by his side to be able to provide for her.
Gia wants to be loved, not just take care of. Gia is special because she gets to teach Jason what love truly is and that money can’t buy true happiness.
A must read for anyone who enjoys the Wicked Lover Series or a good d/s story.
Now what is a Dom to do when his perfect sub that he married disappears on him for almost a year? Well after seriously pining for her he tracks her down and tries to bring her back into his life using any tactic he can think of. But can he convince her to stay forever?
For a novella this story really captured your attention and had emotional depth to the characters. It has a great storyline; two stubborn people from very different walks of life finding their way back to each other, both admitting the mistakes they made at their beginning. Gia and Jason are interesting and so likable; you can feel the chemistry and the deep love that is between them. You really wanted them to figure things out and get their HEA.
I just loved the scene where Jason, the cynic on the concept of love, realizes that he actually does love Gia since he checked everything off the list on the definition. It was so damn amusing. Shayla Black has a great sense of humor in her stories. This was a most enjoyable sexy read.
I'm actually surprised that I liked this one as much as I did due to how Gia was introduced, as the wife that ran from her husband. I felt sorry for Jason, he just wanted his wife back, but wasn't sure where she was. Yes, he had the money to really find out, but he was giving her the space she asked for.
I actually liked the plan that Jason came up with, even if he presented it as something other to Gia. I knew with the time that Jason asked for his biggest push would be to win her over and that is what he did, but pampering Gia. I loved that on the day that they ran errands Jason gave the big push, one that should have been done long ago. I loved how things turned out for Jason, for Gia, and especially for those that they met with.
This book was certainly out of my comfort zone as a reader. Upon saying that, I will say I enjoyed this novella. Jason Denning meets Gia under circumstances I would not consider love forever after. He did, however, see her true character and needed to be with her. He convinces her to marry him and the novella begins. She, too, has an immediate attraction to him and agrees to marry. But she put the marriage aside to help her family in crisis.
For me as a reader I looked beyond the Dom/ Sub taste these two characters enjoyed to the story. This is a love story of two needy adults with baggage galore but both had the ability to converse and be truthful with each other. I did enjoy this book.
I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It was a nice intro to the 1001 Dark Nights series. It's definitely intrigued my interest in Black's Wicked Lovers series. I'm eager to read more. I enjoyed mostly every aspect of Forever Wicked. Jason was solidly alpha, a bit high-handed at times, but utterly likeable. Gia meant well...she really did...but, she made me want to punch her at times. She totally took Jason's choice away from him early in their marriage and then went ballistic when he did to her--to protect her. Beyond Gia's lapses into throat punchable territory, I enjoyed the story! It was a quick and sexy read.
I must say this was a good book Show that each of Jason and Gin had a problem if what they thought what Love was. Jason thought it was buying Gina love which in this case wasn't the case and Gin thought keeping Jason away from her family and be the woman she wanted because she thinks everyone around her wouldn't understand why she married Jason.
I really enjoy this books you don't have read them in order because each book is a diff kind of story which I love about it.
I'm surprised at how much I liked this; it had a lot of my pet peeves. A couple who do not talk, trust, and make assumptions about each other. Jason got Gia benched (which could make case she would have been benched anyway since she wasn't following protocol- or got dead. But either way it was high ended and I didn't like it). All that aside, I was pleasantly surprised.
I know, I know, we all know BDSM isn't my thing. This is ... BDSM lite? Like, some of it seems ... random? Clunky? In that it's just thrown in there - what's interesting to me is this is basically [IMO] a book of "after happily ever after" - it starts a year AFTER Jason and Gia have been married. Of course, they've been living separately for a year. So there is that. Low key I wanted to smack both of them. Gia especially. Bitch YOU MARRIED HIM. FUCKING TALK TO THE MAN YEAH? Vigilante crazypants. >.>
And Jason, where everything is transactional. At least so he thinks, only not really. Mr. Emotionally Stupid. Which ... in part I can excuse him because of his history and experience but maybe USE THAT FANCY ASS BRAIN OF YOURS?!
It is sexy of course, and it's sweet that Jason is obviously STUPID in love with Gia ... but he just doesn't realize it/can't "accept" that.
I have no idea where/how/why this fits into the Wicked Lovers series ... I mean Throne is there? But ... anyway. [Maybe one of the later guys - in Holding on Tighter? use Jason's jet? I can't recall. ANYWAY.]
I liked this book fine, but not as much as some of the others... but also more than some. Like ... Jason wasn't at least as much of a jackass as Luc. I did get annoyed at him though when he was suddenly all "Gia can be bought" oh my GOD you IDIOT - you throw money around like used tissues but you can't realize she needs some to LIVE and is supporting a family of 3? *insert ten thousand eye rolls*
Also ... this is totally minor, but I had major [major!] >.> at the birthday scene, where yes it's TOTALLY sweet he gives her dad a big gift card to his favorite restaurant. And hell I would be THRILLED to get a $1k restaurant giftcard to ... almost anywhere. But don't be all "omg it's so much we could eat here weekly for a year and have left over money!!!" ... Honeychild, I know "maths is hard" but 1,000 divided by 52 is less than $20. [$19.23 I think?] So ... don't try to tell me a family of SIX PEOPLE can eat at a sit down restaurant for $20. ... Hell I don't think you could even eat at McDonald's for $20, feeding six. ... Maybe if you all only ate off the value menu? ...
...
...
Anyway that obviously really annoyed me. [>.> Shit like this is also maybe why I lowkey think I have OCPD] But! I did read this book cover to cover, so there you go. :)
Gia Angelotti was arresting a man when Jason Denning first saw her and knew he had to have her. When she came to Club Dominion, he became her Dom. Not long after they first met, they eloped to Vegas but the honeymoon ended when she learned her brother had been shot and killed. She flew home to her family and the funeral and excluded Jason. He tried to see her and call her but she would not respond until he gave her an ultimatum. Prior to their one-year anniversary, stay with him for three weeks 24/7. If she wants a divorce after that time, he will sign the papers and give her the money they agreed upon. If she wants a divorce now, he will sign and she will get nothing. It is up to Gia.
She took it upon herself to help with the family after her brother's death without asking for help from other family members or Jason. She did not even tell her family she was married as she didn't think they would approve. She shut him out of his life even though she was still in love with him. He was in love with her but wanted his wife home with him not looking for the criminal who killed her brother.
It was perfection! I love every page and it even though it was a novella, it was definitely the right length. I couldn’t be more happy at the end of this story. Jason and Gia are the perfect couple! I loved how the author wrote everything and how everything came together at the end. The control that Jason gives can be felt in the words and the way Gia wanted to ignore it was there, but she always gave in.
Jesus! Jason is a “saint”. They have been married almost a year and they haven’t “seen” each other since the night they got married. If I was him, I would have been way pissed. But he stayed there. He didn’t know, but he loved her then and will do so in the future, I am sure. Gia understood that she fucked up, and it was adult enough to confront it and say it. Sometimes apologizing is the hardest thing to do. So I’m glad everything came together beautifully. A quick romantic read that I fully recommend.
Okay, I liked that this was sort of a twist on Cinderella.. but Gia was just unlikable to me at times.
Forever Wicked was an okay book. More meh to me because things that Gia did just made me roll my eyes. I just feel like she was a smidge selfish for stupid reasons. I totally get not wanting to be someone else's baggage.. but she quickly dumped someone she loved because she didn't want him to deal with anything?
I feel like it shouldn't matter if they both truly loved one another - ya know? It wouldn't just be her baggage.. it would be their baggage (or maybe I'm just trying to make this more realistic ?). I don't know.. it just didn't work for me.
Overall, the romance was good but couldn't save the book for me.
It's an okay book, short fast read, but it wasn't one I would rave about. I never really connected with the characters. I did like Gia, and felt the closest connection with her BUT Jason is a whole different story. At the beginning before they reunited I liked him, afterwards he was kind of a asshole, way to controlling that even when he finally admitted his love for Gia I didn't believe it. Also the same argument kept happening over and over so by the end I was just rolling my eyes and passing over the sentences, not really reading it.
Even though this is a short novella I felt like it still had a lot of the key points that you needed. I just wish that you would have gotten to know more about when they first met and got married. I think my favorite part is when Jason looks up what the word love means. I loved it!
This is a great start to what the Dark Nights series could be.
This book is narrated by Christian Fox, he does an excellent job.
I'm goddamn annoyed!!! The lack of communication is so frustrating 😤! Come on just talk to each other for God's sake! There wouldn't have been any story if those grown ass adults just have talked to each other instead of ignoring each other's and doing what they think is the best fo the other. I guess this is the proof that marrying someone without knowing that person is a very bad idea. You need trust and communication in order to make a relationship works.
I love each book in this series. I got this story in the 3 book bundle. Jason has never seen what love is, his parents weren’t a good example. Loved how quickly he married Gia but she left him. Can he get her back? She wants love and he doesn’t believe in love. I felt heartbroken at one point, but thankfully they finally get a happy ever after. I actually had some happy tears in the end. I highly recommend this book.
I think this is one of those times where being a longer novel would have been really helpful (for me). The emotions and stuff felt like whiplash and just when I felt like maybe I was starting to really get to know or understand a perspective, things changed and it was hot and cold, sweet to douchey, and I never got time to really be invested in either MC (though I like Denning better than Gia by a lot) so as a couple i wasn't really into it. I don't know.
