When Evangeline Lockwood witnesses the murder of a prominent politician, the killers will do everything they can to make sure she can't testify. Since Evangeline's father was once Deputy Director of the CIA, he knows just who to call to protect his only daughter—MacKenzie Security.

The last thing Cal Colter wants is to get stuck with a babysitting job, but Declan MacKenzie has assigned him the task and he has no choice but to accept. Cal especially doesn't know what to do with the quirky computer nerd who covers her lush body in baggy clothes and her stunning violet eyes behind glasses. But if Cal knows anything, it's women, and he's just as determined to peel back the layers of this unusual woman as he is to keep her alive.

Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).

Liliana began reading romance novels with all her new found free time, and when she ran out of things to read, she decided to write her own novels. The result was a 150,000 word thriller—a dazzling adventure—where the heroine was a thirty-year-old virgin assassin (Yes, you read that right). She couldn’t imagine why people weren’t knocking down her door to read it, but she persevered and began writing a second book. She finally got the hang of things, and eventually learned that losing one’s virginity wasn’t all that romantic after all. All of her books involve some kind of suspense (she just can't help herself), laughter, and a lot of steamy sex.

Since the failure of her first attempt, Liliana’s books have won awards such as: The Daphne Du Maurier, The Suzannah, The Linda Howard Award of Excellence, The Maggie, and many others. Her affiliations include Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.

Liliana loves to cook, and is addicted to reading, Internet Boggle, kickboxing, and Bones. She lives in a big, rambling house in Texas with a couple of cats to keep her company. She loves to get emails from readers.

Enjoy the Adventures!

Is it me or this book was too short?
I'm a big fan of the series and I was waiting for this book for so long. And now I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting something more.
I truly hope that the next one is like the rest. As amazing I mean. Because something was off with Cipher. I wasn't as impressed as I expected.

The story starts well, intense scene from the past, where groundwork is laid down for the story to come, I got excited and my hopes got up, but unfortunately, the story didn't deliver, and I was left wondering.
Evie and Cal seemed interesting, but their characters didn't get much development, and they fell flat. There was so much potential with them at the beginning, I don't think they got what they deserve. Also Evie is 30 years old, and behaves rather like a teenager, and being so super smart, not seeing the true error of her ways when she was younger, just surprised me. The sex scenes are explicit, and detailed, even though the emotional connection was not built up again, after 10 year separation.
The suspense and action part seemed like an afterthought, the ending was so rushed, they even forgot to check if the villain was still alive, these 'best of the best' agents. Right.
The scenes with Shane MacKenzie were interesting for those following the series, like I have, but they were interruptions from the main storyline, and took away from Evie and Cal.
When you add all the editorial mistakes, (thing I usually don't mention, since I often read an advanced reader copies, and those are not final, print ready copies of the book,) I was floored. To pay $4.99 for a novella, that has light and rushed storyline, and little to no editing, I just have to wonder what happened to one of my favorite series. Sorry, but this wasn't what I expected at all, for the beginning of the story

I did enjoy reading this story, as a novella it is expected to be short but I would have loved to see more story with the 2 main characters actually together as a couple. The story did wrap up super fast.

Absolutely wonderful.

The characters jump off the pages, the story is compelling and pueblos Nguyen is hot!!! What more can you wish for in a book? The MacKenzies are so vibrant and bigger than life and now we get a better look at Cal, an operative who works for MacKenzies Security. There have been glimpses of him in previous books but this time we get more. We also get some bonus info about Shane MacKenzie and his story. It only serves to make us pine for the next book which will finally tell Shanes's story. MOST Definitely HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Another good read. I still don't know what happened with Taber though. Cal and Evie's relationship still seems a bit on the fence as well. Why did he get married if he knew all along that he wanted her, seems like Julia died for nothing. Hate how Shane's story keeps getting pieced in with the rest of them in little snips. Ready to read it and see what's really going on with him and Shaw. Seems like she has a story of her own with the ending. Guess I'll wait to read the next one.

This is book six in the MacKenzie Security Novel series!

When the lovely Evangeline Lockwood witnesses the murder of a prominent politician. Evangeline knows that the killers will do everything and anything they can to make sure she can't testify against them. Ever since Evangeline's father was the Deputy Director of the CIA. Her father now knows just who to call to protect his only daughter—MacKenzie Security.

The last darn thing that Cal Colter wants is to get stuck with a boring babysitting job. Declan MacKenzie has assigned Cal the task and he knows better than to not accept it. Cal definitely doesn't know what to do with the quirky computer nerd. The quirky computer nerd that covers her lush body in baggy clothes and her stunning and beautiful violet eyes behind glasses. Cal knows many things and how to play the game. The game is women, and Cal's just more than determined to peel back the layers of this woman; as he is to keep her alive.

Can Cal & Evie work together to keep her safe and maybe find their happy ever after?

Liliana Hart's books are so amazing, i love it how she writes 5* books

( I don’t think I put any spoilers in but I’m putting the warning up just Incase lol)

Wow. Honestly all I can say is I’m pretty disappointed. The book started off so well with an intense flash back to show some backstory, but full disclosure that’s probably the only part of the book I enjoyed. Because there was at least a LITTLE detail. Then there was a couple graphic sex scenes, a freaking two page gun fight and a quick I love you to end the freaking book! I’ve loved all the books prior to this but I’m so disappointed in this one.
I really feel like Cal and Evangeline’s story was rushed, and their characters weren’t as developed as the should have been. They were pretty plain in my eyes. Like, ok cool Cal has trust issues and is scared to get his heart broken... ok but WHY? Was there a reason?!
Whatever. This had the ability to be an amazingly sexy, slow burning, action packed book and instead I ended up paying $4.99 for rushed 15 chapter novella. I honestly could have found something very similar for free on Wattpad. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Crave...

MacKenzie Security book 6. Another awesome story for a pretty fantastic crew. This is Cal story which has parts of the MacKenzie family in it. Cal finds forgiveness and love. And don't let the computer greenness fool you, he is all alpha. Sexy and dramatic with plenty of laughable WTF.

Good story, but not as strong as the others and I felt it left alot unanswered with regards to the wife who passed away and the secret life of Evie. Was a bit short but I still enjoyed it within the whole MacKenzie family/ MacKenzie Security world. A really neat family to read about.

Addictive

Book 6 starts with a shooting that set the stage for Evie and Cal's adventure. It immediately pulls you into the story line and holds your interest. The MacKenzies are a tight knit family we all want and thru these books we are able to feel that special bond.

Mackenzie Security 6

Cal and Evie have been in love since they were teenagers. When Evie witnesses a murder by a hired gun, will Cal and Evie be able to stop the hired gun from killing Evie before they tell each other how they feel about each other?

It was all going along smoothly until . . . anyone smell a trap?

Don't read more of this post unless you want a clue to the ending.

It ended too abruptly. Is Tabor dead? Is the file closed? Where were Cal and Evie headed next? Why weren't they at the fireworks?

OK, this one was better than others I think. It was nice to see a story similar to the first one in this series, where the H and the h have known each other. It doesn't seem like SUCH an instalove thing. This series is REALLY bad with the instalove. And honestly, what makes that so funny is that I don't actually MIND instalove. I mean, it's a romance novel, so it doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother other people, but this series is just BAD with it.

I liked Cal a ton, but I didn't really like Evie. It bothered me that I thought we would find out more about what she had been doing online for the past 10 years, but that didn't really happen. I don't know, it was OK, better than others in this series.

Good. Not the best

I love Liliana Hart so I was a little disappointed in this book. Typos, inconsistencies and I’m unsure if the bad guy died. I will continue to read everything but she is too good for these types of mistakes.

"“You scared the hell out of me. The closer we got all I could hear was gunfire. It sounded like a
war zone.”
“It felt like one.” She laid her head against his shoulder and he held her while her body
processed the adrenaline and her shaking subsided.
“I love you,” he said. “You know that, right? I’ve loved you for a long time. We were meant to be together. Work together. Love together. Do you trust me to keep loving you?”
She looked up and touched his cheek gently, gazing into the blue of his eyes. “For most of my life there’s been one person who took the time to invest in me—even when we were stupid kids with no sense of self-preservation between us. You’ve always had my back. I know that. And I know that you love me.”
She kissed him softly. “I love you, too. Have loved only you since I was old enough to know what those feelings were. So yes, I trust you. To love me, to work beside me, and to live with me. For as long as we both shall live.”
“Are you proposing to me, sugar?”
“I figure it’s my turn to lay out the rules of the game this time.”
“How about we negotiate,” he said, nipping at her lip, the wicked look in his eyes sending her hormones into overdrive.
“Why don’t we,” she agreed."

Liliana Hart writes more than decently but 'Crave' is a disappointment in so many ways, not least because it felt like a novel with its spine and half of its narrative ripped off. There is a threadbare plot and unfinished business between 2 childhood friends, but what went wrong between them was never really addressed properly before the sexual attraction and the sex scenes took over.

How, for example, had Cal Colton always 'loved' Evie when he actually married another woman? The insta-love proclamations came too fast, too soon and I simply felt too frustrated with the lack of character development - let's not even go into depth and some basic grammar and spelling mistakes that should have been eliminated in the editing process - give this book a higher rating.

'Crave' seems to be too overly concerned with furthering Shane Mackenzie's story (yes, I'm impatiently waiting for that, though I'm afraid the same thing would happen with Shane's story too) and in the process, compromised so much when it didn't give Cal and Evie the justice and attention they deserve.

Cal Colter started hacking at a young age. Luckily before he could get arrested the CIA Director took him in and put him on the right track.

Evangeline Lockwood the Director's daughter and six years younger than Cal spent her young teen age years with a huge crush on Cal. She began hacking and made a huge mistake that could come at the cost of a lot of lives. Cal had been tracking the hacker known as Black Lily and when he came face to face with her to his surprise is was Evangeline. He made a deal with her quit hacking or he would turn her in.

Years later she is bored working for a Gaming company but it is keeping her out of trouble. Until she is the eye witness to a major hit. Her father knew the best was to hire McKenzie Security Services and Cal was the agent who was assigned. He didn't want to get near Evangeline again because his feeling for her never left.

Having to work side by side to keep her alive brings on the tension. Neither one want to be the one to break down and give in first.

See what happens when the two of them try to outstand the other.

For all you McKenzie fans there is a little update with Shane. *Bonus*

I am a massive fan of The Mackenzie Family series and I always find myself devouring these books in one sitting.

The series has expanded quite a bit and no longer just focuses on the Mackenzie family, but also on the men who work for Declan Mackenzie at 'Mackenzie Security'.

One of the things I love most about this series is that there is a lot of action threaded through the stories (shoot outs, hit men etc.) as well as smoking hot sex scenes. Crave is no exception to this rule buuuuut it just didn't have the same excitement or pull I've come to expect from this series.

I really wanted to love this book but it just fell a bit flat for me, I didn't connect with the main characters, I didn't feel they were developed enough and I felt that the end was too rushed.

I absolutely cannot wait for Shane's book but I don't understand why Shane got his own POV's... it was just totally irrelevant to the story and took up pages that could have been used to develop the lead characters better.

unfortunately, whilst I will remain a fan of the series and will definitely be picking up the next book, This one just didn't do it for me.

I'm rounding this up to a 4 star, but if you want honesty I would rate this as between a 3.5 and a 3.7 star. Don't take that as me not liking this book because I did like it. I was just disappointed at the anticlimactic ending with Evie, and Cal. It was rushed...extremely so. We never find out what happens to Taber...it's left to assuming that he died...BUT no one actually checked to make sure.
With Cal and Evie both being hackers...they were hardly ever near a computer.

I will say this, I was extremely happy with the scenes including Shane. I want him to have a book, but it looks like his story my just take place throughout many books as a background story...which makes sense with what has happened to him up to this point.

I really am hoping that the next book ties up better than this one did. as much as i wanted to love this book...I didn't which makes me sad because I love Liliana' s books especially this series.

Yet Again Another butt on edge of seats reading & the what If's, will things be up in the air or coming down with an 'OH NO'
Where at the start in Russia we see Cal & the Mackenzie Men hunting down Black Lily the amazing hacker who is nearly as good as Cal's Cypher. Cal tracks her and is shocked to find it's the amazing girl he grew up with retired Director of CIA's daughter Evie Lockwood
10 yrs later Evie isn't the woman she was since she was barred by Cal doing her 'computer work' which she loved until one day she gets caught up with the shooting of a senator and the assassin's after her do Lockwood wants Cal to protect her. Evie now hates Cal for what he did and is fuming that He's there to be her bodyguard but she still craved his body and wants Him.
Will she forgive him and will she have his body and have the MAN she has loved All Her life.
