About the author:

Sally Louise is an artist and author who lives on the mid-north coast of Australia with her menagerie of pets.

When she isn't writing, she is drawing. And when she isn't drawing, she is working her way through her extensive TBR.

Despite popular belief around the usual creative person (in writing and/or art), she did not excel in English or Visual Arts in school. Mostly because the creative writing she handed in wasn’t exactly suitable for her catholic school’s curriculum, and the art she produced for her art teacher was rarely ever what they were practicing in class.

It wasn’t until after leaving high school early that she dove into that creativity and began molding it into a potential career.

Since 2015, she has been running her own business with commission work - drawing portraits - and continued her creative writing on Wattpad. It wasn’t until 2019, when she began posting the chapters for her first full length novel, The Wallflower, that she realised the life of an author was just in reach. So she knuckled down in finishing that story on Wattpad and talking all about it through social media and her own artworks of her characters.

In 2024, she officially became a self-published author with her book The Wallflower.

Sally is currently working on The Wallflower’s sequel and has plans to publish a romantasy trilogy in the coming years.

1.5/5 stars

I dont know why I keep doing this to myself. By all the 5 star reviews, I expected some good stuff with so much character development and an insane amount of chemistry, what I got instead was so much worse. I was mostly skimming this book. I badly wanted to give it a five star because that was my prediction at first. I loved the authors writing style, it was good and had so much potential but that's about it

Character development? It was non-existent. Where was the chemistry? Probably flew out the window.

The guy was stupid as hell, all the author described him as was that he had a heavy brooklyn accent, was italian, smoked a concerning amount, didn't like people BUT gave attention to every single girl except the fmc. The heroine practically saved his useless ass and he was such a ungrateful little shit to her. Man didn't feel an ounce of desire towards the FMC and only looked out for her because he felt 'guilty and responsible for dragging her into his world' *tired sigh* he was so fucking arrogant and had an ego the size of his head and had a god complex(please it wasn't even attractive I wanted to laugh)

oh, and his pov starts as he's getting a blow job from a woman he's had a fling on and off with. He doesn't try to stop her advances and sleeps with her throughout the middle of the book. By this time, he already knows the FMC and didn't think much about it and continues his shenanigans with that clingy woman who got on my nerves. I seriously did not want to know how much fun he had with another woman while the FMC was already a part of his world.

And people finding him attractive instead of the repulsive and disgusting pig he is, well, I guess everyone has their own opinions but STILL

The FMC, well, the typical virgin mary who was naive and didn't have a backbone. She was repeatedly getting sexually harassed at her workplace but didn't know to stand up for herself. Woman, your freaking twenty two years old and your dad's a cop, why would you keep your mouth shut about it and not file a complaint?? AND it was her moms company she worked at. The author constantly kept reminding us about her size and her fragile demeanor so much that it felt repetitive. We get it, shes small and he's a huge experienced giant. I'm getting tired of this shit. I've read plenty of female characters that were portrayed as small and short but was a badass and knew how to stand up for herself. So I had no idea why her size and shortness should shape up her personality too

Again, It's not that I do not recommend this book. This is just my opinion

5⭐️ UGH I LOVE THIS BOOK SO FUCKING MUCH. The way that it will literally be my new personality is INSANE. ROMANCE. ROMANCE. ROMANCEEEEE. This book was such a slow burn but I ate it up. The way that I was absolutely sat, like devouring this book, the way that I didn’t care that they didn’t kiss till the 70% mark of the book, or that the spice didn’t hit till the 80% mark, AHHH. I was literally smiling, blushing, giggling and kicking my feet, and laughing out loud, to being on the edge of my seat and turning the page because i wanted to know what was going to happen next! I loved Lily’s character so much as i related to her when it came down to being a people pleaser and having severe anxiety, and I love the way that Dean slowly but surely protects her when she accidentally gets involved in his world and gives her the confidence to stand her ground, BUT, i also loved that Lily helped Dean to be more happy and to find joy in life, like this man literally says : “Lily made me appreciate all the little things. Like flowers. I had never given two shits about flowers until now.”

I absolutely loved the writing style of this book as I wanted to read every word, it literally felt like I was watching a movie for days. Ugh, this was top tier romance, yet subtle. I love this so much. Here are some of my favorite highlights:

He made me feel like I had been deprived of touch all my life. I wanted him closer.

Without a thought, I mumbled, “Why me?” He paused, and I swear held his breath too before he said quietly, “I like how I am when I’m with you.”

I couldn’t get enough of her.

She was dreaming and I wanted so badly to see it. To get a glimpse of the way her beautiful mind worked; to figure out why she still chose me after everything I told her.

She couldn’t fix me, but she made life bearable. She had my heart.

I didn’t know what hurt more; the idea of ever losing her or falling in love with her.

"I like you because you're you... You don't make fun of me for having hobbies. And I feel comforted by you... If all the books, paper, and pencils suddenly disappeared from the world tomorrow, I’d be okay with it because you’d still be here.”

I need everyone to stop what they’re doing and go PREORDER THIS BOOK. I HAVE OFFICIALLY FOUND MY NEW OBSESSION!

Every once in a while a book will come around and completely consume literally every waking thought. I have a few that have really stuck with me over the years. This one is being added to the list.

Before I get into this longggg and raving review, I want to note that the author has done ALL THE ART for this book. The cover is of our two main characters, Lily and Dean, and she also has lots of art on her instagram page @sallylouisewrites so please go check it out!

As a reader, you are IMMERSED in the story that Sally has created. You meet Lily and feel every anxious thought and feeling that she has. You meet Dean and are intrigued by his mysteriousness. You question who is good and who is bad and you grow to love the people you shouldn’t, right along with Lily.

The characters are so well developed and have so much depth. We discover Dean and his likes and dislikes right alongside Lily. He loves cars and fixing them, he has a soft spot for kids, he is a great cook, and he might have a woodworking hobby 👀 Sally puts so much thought into small details and facts about her characters. Very small subtle details in their mannerisms that add depth to their character and personality.

The character development throughout the story is top tier. We see Dean and Lily bring each other to life in two totally different ways, while making simultaneously making each other better. Lily is the one person Dean allows himself to be vulnerable around. And with a police record longer than a CVS receipt, he has his reasons for being guarded.

Seb is just a straight up good person. He’s a great friend to Dean and can read him so well. I love the relationship he has with Lily, being the brother she’s never had and I’m excited to see where things go between him and Kira.

While this book is thickkkkkkkkk, I have to note that it isn’t wordy or winded. Every chapter, every scene matters and has a purpose. Whether it’s plot building, character development, or relationship growing, every word in this book is there for a reason. There aren’t any parts where I looked back and felt “oh yeah that scene could probably be cut to make it shorter”. NOPE. I’m sad it’s over and honestly wish it was LONGER.

One thing I love about this book (that I feel we really get robbed of a lot of times in other books) is that we get to see Dean and Lily as a couple. Don’t get me wrong, slow burn takes its good ‘ole time, but when things start moving for them, we are SHOWN not TOLD. We not only see them grow into a relationship, we get to see them IN their relationship. Where many other books readers are robbed of seeing a couple being domestic.

This book is also extremely satisfying. Being thrown into the world of the mafia and underground illegal fighting, Lily runs into some bad guys (and not all are from this new world she finds herself in) and all of them get a kiss from karma.

And Grandmother Gwen must be protected AT ALL COSTS.

I can’t thank @sallylousiewrites enough for sending me an ARC.
The Wallflower comes out May 21 so please go preorder it and read it so we can obsess together!

I received an arc of this lovely novel and I can say wholeheartedly that this is in my top reads of the year. I consumed the entire book in 48 hours, totally entranced by the story.

The characters are so well written and developed, I was always so excited to see what they were going to do and how they would react to certain situations. The love I have for the main characters is on borderline obsession.

The storyline is superb. I can honestly say that I wasn’t expecting a lot of it and was pleasantly surprised at the ride Sally took us on. I am so so so looking forward to the next installment

I am not the best at words, but I highly recommend and encourage everyone interested to check this out!!

This extremely SLOWWWW burn of a story had me trying to turn pages faster than my eyes can go.

"You're my escape, outlet, and everything in between."

Ugh my heart.

The cliffhanger though 😭😭 RIP to my heart until the 2nd one comes out.

Also have to say, Seb, is one of my favorite characters. His sense of humor — everyone needs a Seb in their life.

This book came in my Probably Smut box, and I didn't know a thing about it. Having been stuck in a reading slump and some good ole depression, I decided to give it a go.
Not this old hag reading 434 pages until 2.45 am and then picking it up early this morning.
This book is everything I wanted and needed. People shitting on Lily have clearly never been raised by a narcissistic mother. As the story progressed, so did the characters. They grew and matured, and I was totally engrossed in their lives.
I have only one complaint "WTF SALLY LOUISE, YOU LEFT ME HANGING OFF THE CLIFF"
What am I supposed to do now? Just move on with my life?

Thank you Sally for sending me an E-Arc in exchange for an honest review! I can honestly say that I am in love with this story and am anxiously waiting for it to continue.

I originally read this story on Wattpad as Sally was developing it and I am so happy she has decided to publish because I am absolutely in love. The Wallflower is one of my top reads of 2023 and I need it on my shelf as well.

There are so many layers to this story, Sally has created such fleshed out characters that just jump off the page, you easily are taken in and fall in love. We follow Lily, who is the quiet bookworm who has lived a relatively sheltered life thanks to her upperclass, (uptight) parents. Who happens to, because of her carefree plant girlie best friend Kira and her boyfriend (does not deserve to be named), stumble into the underground world of the Italian mob. Dean is a cage fighter, and "errand" boy, our resident mr. grumpy. On a job gone wrong, he finds himself in the care of Lily and her apartment and their story has officially begun.

The banter, the dual POV, the struggles, the character development and their personal growth. It's hard to believe this is Sally's debut novel because she absolutely hit everything out of the park. I honestly am struggling to find the words. This book was one of those that made me upset that it wasn't longer.

You honestly have to go into this book blind, you need to discover the story and fall in love without any knowledge of what's to happen. I need the next book desperately, I have a feeling we've only scratched the surface of how deep into the inner workings of this world we can go.

If you love morally grey men, mafia romance, grumpy/sunshine, witty banter, watching the building of a found family, read this book. You'd be doing yourself a favor.

4/5⭐️
2/5🌶️

This was a fun read, which was one of my physical TBR books from my Probably Smut box. She is a THICC one! Good girl, bad boy trope at it's finest, this was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend for those who love the very young and ingénue FMC, bad boy / playboy trope. It was pretty slow going; this was a book with the SLOWEST of slow burns! I don't think there was even a kiss until after 60%, despite the tension and the yearnin' and burnin'. What a twist for the end! I was crying! So many emotions! And the small cliffy at the end has me in knots. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This book hooked me in and would not let go. Sally’s writing was fantastic. This book was originally on Wattpad until Sally decided to publish it (and I’m so glad she did!).

The slow burn and the suspense of something bad happening kept me so intrigued! The main characters were ones you fell in love with, especially knowing their flaws, insecurities, strengths, and hopes.

The side characters were all fun and broke up some of the intensity between the main characters (not that it was needed!). Kira, Seb, Jane, and Xavier were all dynamic characters themselves, each bringing something unique to the story and to the main characters’ journeys.

The dual POV was amazing and I only wish the book was longer. I need more, Sally!

I would highly recommend this book for fans of morally gray men in contemporary romance.

If you were to ask me how I define my taste in books, I would say this: my favorite books are the ones that make me genuinely feel something (yes, I’m depressed, why do you ask). In reading this book, when Lily felt hurt, I felt hurt (and I looooooove love love feeling hurt when reading, I’m a sucker for angst). I think part of that emotional depth comes from Lily’s personal relatability (which I’ll get to), but I also think part of it stems from the character development itself. The characters are written in a way that makes you care about them. It makes for a lovely, heartfelt, genuine story.

Honestly, I think one of my favorite parts about this book is Lily’s characterization. I adore female-centric books, but I sometimes have a hard time relating to the female main characters, because there seems to be this unspoken rule in fiction that all female characters have to be written as bold and steady and unafraid to challenge the status quo in order to be perceived as “strong,” as true heroines. That’s wonderful, we love that type of strong female character. But as a shy introvert with crippling anxiety who cries a lot and prefers silent reflection over verbal quips, there is only a certain extent to which I can relate to that type of head-on strength in a character; that representation of strength only accounts for a very narrow portion of feminine strength as a whole. Sally does a phenomenal job in this book at relaying the message that there is strength in softness as well. Women can be brave and fearless and awe-inspiring AND painfully shy, quiet, anxious, and prone to crying under duress. Strength and gentleness are not mutually exclusive traits. I think Sally understands that, and I think her storytelling is stronger for it. I know I’m focusing a lot on the female aspect of this story (spoiler alert: I am, in fact, a female), but it’s important to mention that this applies to the men in this book as well- yes, Dean is strong. Yes, he is muscular and able to throw a punch. But he is also gentle and kind. And I don’t think his character would resonate nearly as much with readers if he was physically strong and stereotypically “heroic” but didn’t have that softness to him, which is something to think about.

As a whole, I would say this book is certainly worth reading (and I say that as someone who generally doesn’t venture much outside of reading fantasy). A huge thank you to Sally for the eARC, which I will treasure forever (however, I want to emphasize that this is an honest review, and the fact that I was given an eARC had no effect on my overall rating). This book owns my heart. I can’t wait to read the next part of the story (especially after that ending, @Sally where you at, I just want to talk).

I’ll leave you with these final thoughts: Dean is the quiet warmth of a bookshop in a bustling monochrome city (although I’ll tell you what, I’ve never had the urge to punch a bookshop before, so one specific part of this book was a first for me), Lily is the soft glow of a candle on a cold winter night, Seb is the first ray of sunshine after a heavy storm, and Kira is a plant slowly wilting in the dark that needs only a bit of sunlight (say, the type after a heavy storm…) to bloom back to vibrant life. They should all be protected and cherished at all costs.

This book falls somewhere between a 2-3 star for me, primarily due to the complete lack of editing and proofreading. I found the spelling/grammatical errors and plot holes really disrupted the book and it felt like they printed out her WattPad version without having it checked by a copy editor. I did enjoy the characters and story, and had a hard time putting it down, but the quality falls very flat.

The Good:
🖤 The character development is actually pretty flushed out, and the slow burn is right on point
🖤 The overall storyline was great and supported the romance
🖤 The banter and humour was great

The Bad:
❤️‍🩹 "souls of my shoes"
❤️‍🩹 "I had severely underestimated how much space was in this closet" YOU MEAN OVERESTIMATED.
❤️‍🩹 Dumpsters don't work like that?? You can put your garbage in them anytime? The whole initial set-up to get them to meet was beyond flawed. Who hears gun shots at 3am and then decides they'll wander outside to take out the garbage??
❤️‍🩹 Whilst I did enjoy the storyline and plot, it was unnecessarily long with way too much happening in the last 10 chapters compared to the rest of the book. The ending was rushed and didn't really match the characters behaviour with the rest of the book, and the epilogue felt like a messy way to leave us curious about the next book she's writing
❤️‍🩹 A complete lack of respect for 1) time (cocktail parties do not start at 9pm, and when are these people sleeping??) and frequent plot holes where the author simply ignores aspects of the storyline/routine for convenience
❤️‍🩹 We get it, she holds her bag strap a lot and has light-brown, shoulder-length hair (except on the hardcover version of the book...)
❤️‍🩹 Spoiler about the resolution:

Overall I enjoyed this book, and I will read the next one, but it does have its issues. It's worth reading if you want something cute and mushy and aren't too worried about the quality!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 40%.
I received this book in my Probably Smut book box and was so excited about it. The summary seemed like it would be a good read. I'm all for reading about an underground fight club. In the book group majority of people seemed to like the book but did say that the beginning was slow. I tried to push through, I really did. Just to make it to 40% was a struggle. This book is just way too long. By 40% something should be going on but there just isn't anything. The love interest so far seems disinterested in the FMC. I get that its a slow burn and I love a good slow burn but there should be something by 40% pointing to the MMC actually liking the FMC. This book is just so slow paced that its actually putting me into a reading slump so I am calling it quits. The bones of the story are good but I think that this book needed to go through another round of edits. A lot of what is in the first 40% could be condensed and some stuff just taken out completely. All in all, this is a bummer for me, but if you are someone that doesn't mind a story going at a glacier pace to get to anything good then you might enjoy this book.

It’s been awhile since I’ve screeched to myself about a book but The Wallflower brought it out!!
I’d like to thank Sally Louise for writing this amazing novel!! I got to read this early as an ARC reviewer and I’m so glad I got to!

This book was exciting, heartwarming, romantic, spicy, heart wrenching and everything you want from a book!!
I loved Lily and Dean’s relationship, the push and pull was stressful but amazing and I’ll recommend this book to anyone and everyone!
Seb and was also hilarious and I loved Kira’s bravery. I loathed Roxy but even she sorta came around in the end… Antonio though, he can die in a fire (he seems to like burning buildings) better yet make him fight like he forces Dean too!!!

I can’t say much more without spoiling the book but it’s amazing and five stars!!

I really enjoyed this book but felt like it was a little too long- too drawn out. But overall a great read.

I loved how Dean and Lily were such opposites in almost every way except that they always go above and beyond for the people they love. The found family they both have was so funny and special especially Seb.

I have to say the mob boss and his shady activities didnt affect me as much as Aiden. I got skivvy vibes from him since the beginning.

After finishing this book, I had to give myself a few days to rewind. I cannot express how much I loved this story. Lily and Dean are complete opposites and it just meshes so well. The writing was perfect, the story was perfect, and the slight cliffhanger was not heartbreaking but enough for me to be excited that there’s going to be at least one more book on this couple. This may be my favorite book couple so far. I don’t know where Sally Louise has been but I am glad she has come out of her hiding hole

Re-read on August 2024.

I want to hug this book (and these characters) forever. I cannot recommend this enough.

*

Big, big fan since the wattpad days, I'm so happy to finally see it published!

This book is a MUST for those who like:
- a sweet slow burn
- a wallflower fmc falling for a tattooed grumpy boxeur and viceversa
- a dash of mafia (but not to much - mmc is an errand boy for a boss)
- 3/5 level of spice
- and just, like, sweetness and tenderness overload

I personally can't wait to read it again!

Dnf. I disliked the FMC and MMC so much that I could not continue. She was an annoying baby. He was a rough & gruff fighter, which normally I would love, but his personality was super off putting. It was a struggle to make it as far as I did (which admittedly wasn't' far). I was completely unengaged.

I'm hooked. I am invested. I'm in love with Dean...and maybe even more so with Sebastian.

But wait, let me start from the beginning.

When I initially saw the small print on how many pages there were, I knew this was going to take me a second to read. But then the story started and I was flying through this.

Also, when I saw this was a story about underground fighting, my mind went immediately to Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire and I was nervous it was going to be just like it. I AM SO GLAD IT WAS NOT AND THAT THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER.

I was so captivated by the main concept of this and the storylines for each character. Lily is from a conservative, protective family. She's the innocent one, the good girl. Until she stumbles upon the wrong kind of guy, just trying to help him. Opposite of everything she is, she finds herself in a situation she can't get out of.

Lily is a brave character, considering how innocent she is portrayed to be. The situations she finds herself in are not for the faint of heart and I commend her for handling them so well. She's being tested time and time again, all while proving her loyalty and hiding the truth from her family. She's a kind soul but has a fighter within her. I really loved seeing her character development, as subtle as it may have been.

Dean is a drool worthy, smooth talkin', tatted up hottie fighter. He has this standoffish person but might just be one of the most kind hearted souls for the ones he loves. He fights because he knows nothing else but man does he love, too. He will literally do anything to protect those he cares for and he's just such a dark, broody, but dreamy kind of guy.

I absolutely loved their initial meetings/feelings towards each other. I love a good written slow burn and this was a GOOD written slow burn. It takes a while for us to get something but the wait is totally worth it.

Seb might just be one of my absolute favorites characters. He is the comic relief, the golden retriever, the friend who always has your back. He is a genuine, kind soul. He's funny and down to earth and always has the one liners at the ready. I might just be a little in love with him. His friendship with Dean is adorable. It's giving adult Johnny and Gibs vibes and I'm totally here for it. I can't wait to get more of him. I'm really vibing with him and Kira. I think they would make the BEST couple.

Side characters were great. Xavier and Jen are hilarious and such great friends to have. I do wish we had a little more of them towards the end but they were definitely great pieces of this puzzle. Even the villains and enemies in this were written really well. Dean's mom is adorable and I really love their relationship. Lily's family are obnoxious and annoying but I think that's the point. Roxy is forever and always a bitch and I don't trust her and I think she's not done being shady. In the end, everything came together perfectly.

I really enjoyed the intensity of this. We get some suspenseful moments and some really intense moments. I always felt like I was waiting for someone shady to show up and make a turn of events. I loved how all of this was written. It kept me on my toes and had me truly at the edge of my seat, wanting more.

I will be very honest and say this was very long with very descriptive writing. There were times I might have just skimmed a few paragraphs because it was all inner monologues or descriptive thoughts over a scene. BUT. I wouldn't want this story written any other way.

Every storyline/subplot was just written so well and I love that it didn't feel overwhelming or throwing all this extra fluff into a story. It all flowed so nicely and I'm so glad to know we are getting more.

We are left on a cliffhanger of sorts and I AM SO EXCITED FOR BOOK TWO. I cannot wait to see what happens but man, am I nervous. I just love how this ended and gaaaah I just knew it felt too good to be true.

I am invested, I am hooked, I am in love with these characters and this story. This is a story that will stick and these are characters you will remember.

I pride myself on the fact that when I write reviews, they are in-depth, honest, and real. This book was one of the first contemporary romance books I read and it opened up the entire genre for me. I would not change a single part of it and highly recommend anyone read it.

I have always been more of a reader of thrillers, fantasy, anything that was about escapism. But this book? This book makes you feel. The plot draws you in immediately, every chapter constantly keeps you wondering and wanting more.

Not only is the plot perfectly woven, the characters are so real. As you read about every character, they make you feel so deeply. Some much you beyond angry, some make you roll your eyes at the same time as the main characters, but above all, there are so many characters you will fall in love with.

The romance in this book will make you want to read the entire book in one sitting. I originally read it as my first book on Wattpad and waiting for every update was a constant highlight of my week. Beyond the romance, it takes a unique story to make you want not only read more book about the protagonists but also about the magnificent side characters.

I have had the pleasure of reading and commenting on all of the parts I adored while reading this book originally on Wattpad but getting an ARC to re-read this book was amazing.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the physical copy of this book to re-read again, annotate, tab, and treasure. If you want a book that will make it hard for you to put it down, will have you wanting the sequel immediately, and introduce you to your newest book boyfriend, “The Wallflower” is for you!

Truly amazing debut from Sally Louise. The Wallflower has everything: tension, slow burn, a bit of mystery, high stakes, and of course the bad boy with all the charm in the world, that we all wish we had in our lives.

From the witty best friends, the shenanigans, to Lily’s relationship with her sister, we really get to be immersed in Lily’s life very early on, and quickly learn who she is, her passions, struggles and her family dynamic. Then enter Dean, the swoon worthy, boxer who is here to shake up her life, and awaken a part of her never knew she was capable of.

Soon after, things truly start to take off, not only with the chemistry between Lily and Dean but also in the world of crime that Lily finds herself suddenly thrust into, with no easy way out. Which I found to be one of the more thrilling parts of the book, rapidly turning the pages to find out what would happen next! It's a whirlwind of drama and tension that'll keep you hooked till the very end.

Overall, The Wallflower is an entertaining, emotional, action packed, gritty sports romance that blends into the world of the mafia. I’ve truly never read anything like it. Throughly enjoyed how Dean and Lily really complemented each other and brought out new sides in one another, and I’m really really excited to see what’s next from Sally.

CW/TW: gore/violence, gun violence, attempted assault, sexual harassment, toxic relationship, DV, alcohol abuse, death

Thank you to Sally Louise for the ARC

First and foremost - the fact that I thought this was a stand alone only to be left on a fucking CLIFF HANGER WAS disrespectful on another level

This book reaffirmed that I am indeed a sucker for a slow burn romance. Literally just had my heart the whole entire time. There were some moments that were cheesy but there were so many more moments where I was laughing and at the edge of my seat.

Surprisingly, I really like Lily. I usually do not like FMC’s who are more demure and shy, and for lack of better phrasing, goody-two-shoes. I think her character was really well written and there is clear character development throughout. I do hope in the second book that she grows even more without the help of Dean though.

Dean is a sexy teddy bear who will kill for the women in his life and he deserves happiness and all that he wants. That’s all.

Smut: 5/10 There was smut! Not that much, the book indicates the spicy chapters and it wasn’t bad,
It just wasn’t the focus of the book. The scenes were romantic and hot but would not tell people to read it for the smut by any means.

Miss Sally Louise I am impatiently waiting for the second book.

I will start off stating that Sally Louise is on THIN ICE with me. It was one thing that the MMC has my father's name. It was another thing when a secondary character with my daughters name was introduced & then proceeded to suck off the MMC. I REALLY considered a DNF right then & there but I kept going knowing that with the FMC there things would eventually dissolve with other "love" interests. While I enjoyed the story overall, there were a couple of editorial hiccups I noticed that threw me off - the best friends name being misspelled once & a few English words/phrases being used in an American setting (torch instead of flashlight, hospital instead of THE hospital). Spice level was fairly tame - slow burn for sure - but picked up nicely as the book went on. Kudos for nothing overly ridiculous happening or unrealistic body part size comparisons. The ending had me all over the place in a good way. I was angry, I was sad, I was gasping, I was page turning like a mad man. And the epilogue??? MA'AM??? I suppose I ought to look out for a sequel then.

Really fell in love with this book. I was tabbing it like crazy! Had some funny lines and tons of cute moments between friends/family members that were relatable to my real life moments. Lily was portrayed as the perfect wallflower to a T and how Dean just gravitated toward it was unstoppable. I really loved their romance and it was I crazy super slow burn. 2 spice level- can’t wait to see what happens next!

So when I got this book in my book box I was excited. Loved the cover PS BOTM did. Finally got around to reading to reading it and boy was I not impressed. There are books that are a slow burn but heat up and then are books that burn so slow they fizzle out completely. This is one of those. I felt like the author was trying too hard to make this into something more but just never made it over the hump. There was so much potential but sadly this one just didn’t make it for me. I give this a 3.5 star read. Spice level 1.

This was good. Nothing really special about it. It definitely could have been shorter but the length didnt bother me too much. I enjoyed the characters but really wish the heroine had grown a backbone at literally any point during the 500+ pages of this story. I’m curious about book 2, but almost wish this would have just finished here. I’d be down for a Seb and Kira book. If you’re looking for something with innocent good girl/illegal fighter bad boy vibes - this is it. Very slow burn.
