Viz is a British adult comic magazine founded in 1979 by Chris Donald. It parodies British comics of the post-war period, notably The Beano and The Dandy, but with extensive profanity, toilet humour, black comedy, surreal humour and generally sexual or violent storylines. It also sends up tabloid newspapers, with mockeries of articles and letters pages.
Usually get this as a stocking filler. Took me longer than usual to get through, but just in time for this year's Christmas one to replace it. Some of it is crap, but the letters page always makes me laugh and some of the old favourites such as Roger Mellie, Biffa Bacon, etc. are always welcome for a revisit. A few one offs - Ricky Gervais having a religious dog, Richard Branson's space shuffle were also rather funny.
Always get this as a stocking filler every year, and usually have it read from cover to cover by the first few days in January. The top tips & letter-bol***ks segments never fail to make me titter during the and after the festivities are done with.
Not only not as funny as it used to be, it all felt a bit tired, as if no new characters are sticking and they're reduced to repeating the same old gags with the same old characters.
