Luca Birch can talk to rocks if he has to. So why does he struggle to connect with White Knight Security’s latest client? Because the man is gorgeous, and Luca has seen him on stage? Or because Jax Monroe lives to push Luca’s buttons?

Luca may be a tiny bit starstruck, but if he can’t figure out who is attacking Jax and how to stop it, he won’t ever get the chance to unravel Jax’s many layers and find out what’s beneath.

And that’s a failure his heart might not be able to take.

3.5*

While I enjoyed this one, I don't think it flowed quite as well as the first two in the series.

Also, some of the geographical descriptions are a bit unclear for anyone not familiar with the regions of Scotland.

Luca heads off from a festival at Sidmouth in Devon, travelling north west to the Highlands of Scotland, only the next minute, we're then heading out of Inverness - which is on the east coast...

Now, he does mention the A82, but it's a hella long way round via Loch Ness and the Great Glen to get up to the ancient county of Caithness!

Still, that aside, I thought both men were lovely people, Luca's definitely a nurturer, while Jax was more closed off, but still someone with a strong personality who needed some tlc.

The steam's "less steamy" in this one, which was a bit disappointing, and there was an odd plot point that came out of left field and then just dropped out of the narrative.

I'll be interested to see if it's mentioned again in Fritz's book, but it provided an interesting way of solving the threat to Jax that Luca had been sent to protect him against.

Overall, though, it follows pretty much the same premise as the first two books, with both men together at the end and looking forward to their relationship progressing.

Luca's Turn To Protect

Luca & Jax
Rating: 2.8 ⭐

- Bodyguard/Singer
- Harassment
- MM Romance

The prequel to this series "A Knight To Remember" introduced the guys of the White Knight Security group. I was intrigued to see how they all settled down and found love. In this third installment we get Luca, there's been something going on with him since he first arrived at White Knight Security with his team but he hasn't confiding in anyone yet. This installment didn't flow as well as the prior books and just seemed off. The author even said they were having trouble with Luca's story, which is why they wrote the prequel and some other bonus chapters outside of this story. I honestly feel like it would've served better to put it all together and just make the story a bit longer so it didn't feel so incomplete. This book is also less steamy than the prior books and the one scene that's even close is more of a fade to black, which kind of sucked.

Luca has been a fan of Jax's for years and his music even helped him while dealing with the fallout of leaving his family behind. He was assigned to help Jax with a harassment case that's starting to escalate to attempts on his life. Luca for some reason keeps putting his foot in his mouth from the first moment he meets Jax face to face, the poor thing is star struck and his brain just goes offline. Like the other couples, they grow close quickly but Luca has the tendency to get hyper focused on something and make the other person feel like they're not even in the room, so you can imagine the relationship struggle in this.

Up next is Fritz (Cap) to get his new assignment that leads to love.

Fritz Bronnley watches over the teams breakfast meeting. How quickly it has grown, with the additions of Spencer and Kris. But rules are rules and Fritz doesn’t allow any communication devices at the table. Kris is almost beaned with a biscuit, but Rylan is there to save him. Kris isn’t breaking the rules, as he explains that there’s a serious emergency. Fritz has the perfect candidate for the job.

Connor Graves has been in the music business for twenty years but now he’s in a panic over Jax Monroe. He manages the up and coming Jax, who is now getting threatening notes and it has escalated to something more dangerous. Kris is a colleague of Connor’s and he reaches out to Kris.

Jax Monroe has just come off a two year tour and is burnt out. He’s now gone home to his solitude to recover and just spend quiet time writing new music. Recovery is taken time and he’s finding it impossible to even write. Getting all types of communication he doesn’t realize how serious things have gotten.

Luca Birch is on an excursion at the NightFlight music festival on the Sidmouth coast. Luca is known to get caught up listening to his music, wether he’s working on Matilda or his electronic devices. When he get’s the call he can’t believe he’ll be protection for Jax Monroe. He has to admit he’s a fanboy and he acts just like one when he meets Jax. nPoor Luca he can’t seem to get into the professional mode and things he says lead to misunderstandings.

As Jax and Luca start to share their personal lives, Jax starts to believe Luca “sees” him for who he is. But as Jax’s situation becomes more dangerous, Luca slips up and it brings a heart ache of miscommunication. The White Knights are always there for each other thru thick and thin. They can solve the case but can they mend the issue with Jax and Luca?

Jackie Keswick gives us Luca Birch at his speechless time when he meets Jax Monroe.
Luca always has something to say and it always around Fritz, Rylan and Grant so they’re used to his ways. When it comes to Jax Monroe, he certainly shows how starstruck he really is. With Luca’s story the author brings out his expertise in technology and how focused he becomes when trouble escalates. There’s a fine line in the relationship between Luca and Jax because of their upbringings. Both have felt that experience, as if they don’t exist and it leads to doubts. I also thought it was appropriate that their intimacy was keep very minimal, as they are both young and Jax seemed to worry about his inexperience.

“Luca” was interesting, as I was waiting from the prequel, to find out what was bothering Luca when he first moved into Knigtdale Court. The mystery in this book was a strange one to figure out.

As always, I love this mini-series of the “White Knight Security” and I’m looking forward to the next tale from Jackie Keswick. The next one should be very interesting as the man himself “Fritz” will be on the hot seat!

Loved another White Knight Security book. I laughed when Jax meets Luca, who is a huge fan of his music, and exclaims that he didn't know he was so short! Of course Luca hadn't slept in 3 days so was not at his best and he continued to insult him. The threats against Jax were bizarre and scary when someone tried to run him off the road first and then run him down. He is not taking the threats seriously enough and resents his manager calling in security but Luca learns that how serious it has become even though the police didn't take it seriously at all. When the house is invaded it was unusual how they went to the cave that Jax like to hang out in and Luca learns more about Jax and they get closer. Then Jax shuts him out while trying to find out who was threatening him and drives Jax to see the person himself and the team help out when the guy pulls a knife on him. The reason he was being stalked was odd and the other person who was involved was shocking. I want more stories about all of the guys.

M/M insta love first time romance. Book 3/4.
This is Luca and Jax’s story. Luca is an Ex soldier who starts the White Knight security agency and home base with his army buddies Fritz, Luca and Rylan.

Luca is tasked with providing close protection to his celebrity crush Jax, a musician. Luca’s character is all over the map, supposedly a sweet talker and highly observant except in this situation where he manages to always offend Jax. Jax is ornery and a bit femme, not my cup of tea so the chemistry was hard to see.

As with all of this series the plot is told from dual POV and is insta-love and simplistic, where everything happens under a week. Zero to sixty on the villain escalating and also the falling in love. The villain didn’t make much sense and for someone so desperate he seems to have a lot of resources to inflict several attacks. A lot is left unanswered and unresolved such as Jax’s !

It is not clear if Jax is pansexual or just on some kind of spectrum but the scene of his first time was harried and mostly fade away.

There was something about this story that drew me in almost immediately and I read it in one sitting. Maybe it was the fact that I fell in love with Luca and Jax right away and the fact that although there was an instant attraction it wasn't the same as with the characters from the previous books in the series. It wasn't perfect, there were a few things I had quibbles with but overall the story was a good one.

● Contemporary
● Quick easy read
● Bodyguard/Famous client pairing
● Combatants (not to the enemies status) to eventual lovers
● A mystery
● An instant attraction but not insta love/lust more a mild slow burn
● Some sweet moments
● A virgin but there was little to no sex
● Loved the MCs... Luca & Jax
● A few miscommunications (had a problem with these)
● Characters from previous books play a part
● Great friends
● Satisfying enough ending but left open
NOT a stand-alone

Smooth-talking comms operator Luca is the third of the White Knight quartet to find romance when he is hired as a bodyguard for rockstar Jax Monroe, who is receiving mysterious and increasingly dangerous threats.

It was thoroughly enjoyable to see Luca lose the gift of the gab when confronted by his musical idol. I really enjoyed the miscommunications between these two, and Jax was a great foil for Luca and a terrific character in his own right. I also loved the descriptions of the Scottish setting that really set the atmosphere for this romantic suspense story.

So, the bad guy was a professional thief who thought Jax was the one who stole the pearls from an exhibition. As it turned out, the one who stole it was Jax's twin sister, who grew up in the same foster care as him but got adopted by a different family. While the problems were cleared, what about Luca and Jax's living arrangements? Jax said he was renting a house near Luca's, but it didn't satisfy me at all.

Why are these books so short? There’s barely any background — it feels like some chapters are missing. One moment the characters are meeting for the first time, and the next they’re already in bed. I kept hoping they would get better (the 0.5 book had promised a good start), but they fell flat. I won’t bother with the next one

There was a lot of humor in this story--from almost the very beginning when Luca told Jax that "he was short." There were several more instances where Luca spoke without thinking. He also made several missteps in dealing with Jax. Good story, recommend reading.

Enjoying this series

I felt like the first two books of this series were short but complete. This one felt like it should have been longer as Luca and Jax were still finding their way without much resolution as it ended.

I didn’t enjoy the chemistry between the mc’s. The relationship was too much work for an instalove romance plot.
