D.I. Telbat continues the COIL Series suspense in Dark Vessel, Book 4, when COIL founder Corban Dowler is forced underground after he is the target of a car bomb. On the streets of Manhattan, his vigorous covert investigation begins when his Muhammad ibn Affal alias is compromised. But the knot of darkness he hopes to untangle is more sinister than he could imagine.
Italian spook, Luigi Putelli, rises to the COIL challenge, and attempts to stand vigil in Corban's absence. Luigi scours the world to help those in need—even when his past threatens to stop him. From New Jersey, to Bangladesh, to Nigeria, Luigi is determined to serve Corban's God.
Chloe Azmaveth, ex-Mossad agent, hunts down every clue she can find to locate Corban. The web of deceit grows complicated as a government agency goes rogue to cover up a deadly secret. The closer she gets to Corban, the more her hope wanes, and it seems that Corban Dowler may be beyond saving!
Join COIL in Dark Vessel by D.I. Telbat, with cover design by Streetlight Graphics, as it rallies its best agents for a battle against darkness from the streets of New York to the tropics of the Caribbean. With evil forces at work, and the Dark Vessel raising his ugly head, we learn that…there is no redemption without sacrifice.

I've been writing novels and short stories since I was a young teen. God has greatly impacted me, and I now desire to honor the Lord with my life and writing.
My stories can be read in several online and print publications, as well as three anthologies. My bestselling COIL Series include novels Dark Liaison, Book One; Dark Hearted, Book Two; Dark Rule, Book Three; and Dark Vessel, Book Four, and are available at most e-retailers, as are Jaguar Dusk, a Christian Special Forces novel, Sea Scribe, a Covert Christian Mission Suspense, and End Times Novel, God's Colonel. See my website for other novels and stories added often, including Dark Cover, COIL Book Five, to be out late 2014.
I offer free weekly Christian short stories, or serialized novels, my Author Reflections, and occasional challenges to the Christian Church on my Telbat's Tablet blog at http://ditelbat.com.
When I'm not writing, I'm very involved in Christian ministry. I've kept my home office in the NW U.S. where my assistant, Dee, lives and helps with my editing and writing needs.
My motto: There is no redemption without sacrifice.

Dark Vessel is another fast-paced, suspenseful novel in the COIL series. Corbin and his family come under attack. Depressed and hunted, he is plunged into a dark night of the soul.
Breaking from his normal format, Telbat writes this novel in first person rather than third person. Three perspectives are presented throughout four separate sections in the story. Though I normally do not like multiple first-person perspectives in one book, Telbat pulls it off well. Not only are the divisions long enough to get into the head of the character, but Telbat’s ability to give each a distinctive voice kept me well immersed in the story without wondering whose head I was in at any given time.
Telbat’s writing is clean and exciting, though the realities of pain, suffering, and even death are woven into his stories. Those who do God’s work gain enemies who want the world to remain enslaved to darkness. Telbat recognizes there is spiritual darkness and evil as well as human evil acting in the world today. Much to think about. I look forward to continuing this series and I recommend Dark Vessel.
If you've been reading the previous books, you might be feeling that the characters are old friends. I certainly do. I enjoy getting so caught up in a book that I hold my breath when the characters do and have to stop at times to relax tense muscles during the more suspenseful parts. Those things happened often while reading this one.
In this book Telbat uses the first person story telling from several of the lead characters point of view. It was a really nice diversion from the typical story telling style in the other books. As always the character development was extraordinary and I found myself really pulling for each of them.
Corben, Luigi, Chloe and the rest of COIL operatives still have a spiritual battle to contend with, and I'm looking forward to seeing the amazing things God does with them!
This book challenges me to remember that God is in charge always. And that it is easy to try to do it all myself. Thankfully, His rope is never cut from beneath me.
Second time I am reading this serious. Brilliant. Can’t put it down. As I do short term mission in safe countries. I can understand the ca;lung of the COIL operatives
Dark Vessel is the fourth book in the COIL series and another good suspense! I liked how Corban was back to being a main character in the book. In the last book, Dark Rule, he didn't appear that much, so Dark Vessel felt more like the first two books and I loved that!
The story had suspense, some intense moments, and great characters. I loved that Corban went into hiding so he could investigate without the people who targeted him with the car bomb knowing he survived the attack. That made the story even more interesting to me. :)
All in all, Dark Vessel was a great read and if you enjoy Christian suspense, I think you'll enjoy this series. I'm looking forward to reading the next book!
