Hoping to escape her mother’s control and a fiancé she doesn’t love, Elinor Travers switches places with her best friend, Addie, who is having second thoughts about marrying her own fiancé—a Montana hay farmer named Gideon, who offers the life that Elinor has always dreamed of.
Abandoned as a Boy…
Gideon Cartwright spent years denying his own dreams so he could raise his younger siblings after his father abandoned them. At last, he can concentrate on his farm, and settle down with a wife of his own. But will his mail order bride’s charade remind him too much of the father he resents, and cost Elinor her one chance at true happiness?
[A sweet historical romance novel of 77,095 words. Although it contains NO sexual content whatsoever, this book is NOT Christian or Inspirational, and there may be allusions to mild sexual tension.]
Elinor Travers is tired of the life her parents have forced her to have, and with the pending marriage to a man she does not love she feels as if she has reached her limit. Gideon Wainwright is a lonely hay farmer in Montana who has spent his life raising his brother and sisters and he wants to find love and a companion to share his life with. In her book “Mail Order Runaway,” Juliana Blake has created a love story that faces the adversities of the time as well as deception of identity, but somehow she shows in the end love will conquer all.
A good story about a girl who jilted the man her parents picked. Her best friend intended to be a mail order bride but did not want to go to Montana, so Elinor takes Adelaide's place. Elinor lets everyone think she is Adelaide. But she was brought up in a well to do family and cannot cook, sew or clean like Adelaide's letters promised. This is an interesting situation for a plot and with the subplots it is well worth reading.
A very nice story that is well written and clean. There are some unexpected twists and turns in the story but that is what makes it a good read. It’s a nice story that is about two people that fall in love. It is a quick short read and entertaining. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes mail-order bride books.
The interesting premise, though not completely unheard of, had a few details that set this story apart (in a good way) from others of its kind. The characters were flawed and their actions more believable for it, especially the heroine's weakness. Only wish the turning point on Elinor and Gideon's relationship had been different, despite it working perfectly as is.
I love the Mail Order Bride books because they take you back to a simpler place and time. This one was different as things took awhile to work out but it was just as good.
