Lee Halverson had been happily living his life away from Serenity Point… until he was laid off from his job and his girlfriend broke up with him. Now he’s back in his small hometown, but he isn’t sure if that’s where he’s going to stay.

Uncertainty has infiltrated every part of Lee’s life, from his job and his ex-relationship to his knowledge of his past. Though he's taken steps to achieve some stability in his career and to gain the information he wants regarding what led to him being adopted by the Halversons, Lee's still not sure what direction his life will take.

Though Aurora Harlow-Gray has parents and several siblings, she lives a solitary life. She's alone in a crowded world, only seeing her family when they need something from her. Like watching a spoiled cat.

Currently between jobs, Rori has come to Serenity to cat-sit for her mom so she and her latest wealthy husband can go on a cruise. When the snobbish cat refuses to purr for her, Rori decides to take her to the vet just to make sure everything is okay. The handsome vet reassures her the cat is fine, which leaves Rori feeling embarrassed at having overreacted.

Still, on a whim, Rori asks if the vet clinic has an opening for a receptionist. When it turns out they do, she makes the decision to uproot her life and move to Serenity. Not to be closer to her mom, but to live in a beautiful place with a name that appeals to her.

Though she assumes she’ll continue to live a solitary life similar to the one she's left behind, Rori quickly learns that won't be the case. The new people in her life seem to actually want to be around her. And in addition to their offers of friendship, they introduce her to a faith that brings her a hope she's never had before.

Then there’s Lee. A man who's as sweet as he is handsome. It’s no surprise to Rori when she develops a crush on the man. But knowing that nothing will come of that crush, she figures friendship is the next best thing, not realizing that Lee comes with a bunch of siblings who are only too willing to welcome her into their lives. It's all very new to her, however, so she's cautious about accepting their overtures of friendship.

Lee hadn’t planned to get involved with a woman again until he had some answers about his past. However, his heart cares not even a little bit about that plan as he gets to know Rori. But when he receives information about his birth family, Lee regrets not moving forward with more caution.

Will he and Rori have the strength to deal with the revelations that have come to light? Or will fear gain the upper hand and destroy what they've been building together?

Lee is another sibling that we don’t know a lot about before we get to his story. And in someways, it’s a really sweet story however… There’s a darkness here too.

So I’m going to know that this might be a bit of a spoiler alert, but it’s definitely a trigger warning…

Lee is adopted and a big part of the story is him seeking out information about his biological family. What he finds out is beyond despicable and tragic. Thankfully, the author does not go into gruesome detail however just knowing that abuse and murder are key causes the imagination to run rampant.

I do love that there’s no quick fix once he knows about his biological family. There shouldn’t be, but I think some authors would have tried to rush through and make it all good quickly. Instead, Lee struggles and wrestles with the information. And it’s clear when this book ends that while he has much better and moving forward, it will always be a part of his life.

A beautiful story of God’s grace in the midst of struggles, abandonment and pain.&

Rorie’s childhood was characterized by trauma and left her feeling unworthy of love. Lee was raised in a Christian home and his commitment to his faith aided him as he sought to show Rorie that she was indeed a child of God and worthy of love. But an unexpected revelation causes Lee to question his very existence and everything he’s been taught. This novel is a very powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness in the midst of our storms.

Always five star worthy!

Once I read my first book by Kimberly Rae Jordan I knew I had to read more of her work...so of course I binge read all of her series and now I wait with great anticipation for her next novel to be released.
She has an incredible way of writing each story to make you feel like you are part of each family that she introduces. And, she also has such a gentle and real way of talking about the Lord in her writing that speaks volumes to my heart and soul.
Always a job well done and a book worthy to be read!

Excellent book!

Rori and Lee has a past that is very hard to deal with. Rori is faced with a family that treats her as a nobody. Finding people who believe in God and extend their faith to her, has taught her a lot. Also, meeting Lee has helped.
I enjoyed reading about the faith, hope and inspiring way problems are dealt with. This is a very inspiring story. Wonderful job Kimberly. Keep these books coming.

Rori and Lee
As always I love these books and watching the couples meet get to know each other and realize how they feel with the help of God. Rori feels that she doesn’t give anything to the relationship with Lee and his family but in the end with the surprising news of Lees birth you see how Rori is right there with him to offer support. You truly see how God brings people to your life at the right time.

This was another great book by Kimberly Jordan. Lee and Rori meet and start working together, then dating. It was all going along a little too smoothly ... and boom, Lee gets a bombshell he didn't expect. Lee has to learn to trust God and Rori as he attempts to recover from this bombshell. Loved it!

God’s Faithfulness

This was gut wrenching but through it all you could see the hand of God upon Lee and Rori

It doesn’t take much to show love and kindness to each other. The Halverson’s do show this with open hearts.

Thanks KRJ for sharing your gift and love of weaving stories.

For some reason, the final conflict in this book had to involve something horrific (child abuse). I wish I would have known this because I would not have read the book. Even after the happy ending, the disturbing images brought to my mind didn’t leave. Otherwise, the book was enjoyable. That just ruined it for me.

Lee and Rori

You know the song “Let me tell you about my best friend”? You can’t use that song for Rori because she never had one because of her mother and father, nor step mother nor step father. This broke my heart. Now dr Lee is an adopted Halversons’ child. Just wait and read it word for word. You will be glad you did. PS you’ll need lots of tissue while reading.

Healing for the broken-hearted. Moving to Serenity begins a series of firsts for Rori. A first kiss, faith, and a first chance at love. Lee has lived a life of love and security. Will his faith protect him when storms rage? Check in with the Halversons as they welcome Aurora and give her wings to fly.

Love overcomes when God is in the mix

Ms Jordan has once again stolen my attention. I enjoy getting to know each of the characters in her stories and I've read all of her series to date. With God as a center piece, she creates situations where there is good vs evil and how faith in God will always triumph in the end. Thank you for sharing your gift!

If anyone be in Christ

That was the first verse Rori memorized as a new Christian and it was that verse from her that pulled Lee out of the funk when he found out about his birth parents. I’ll let you read for the details. But this, again, was a wonderful redemption story for both of them.

Great story

A great story of Lee, a vet & his girlfriend. Lee was adopted & belonged in the Halverson family. He returned home after time as a vet in Chicago. He finds he enjoys the smaller town & less pretentious life in the city.
Lee ends on the winning side, a winner over the sad stuff in his past

I like Jordan's series that follow a whole family, since the members already featured keep showing up in the new books. This one has a pretty heavy plot twist thrown in, right when things are going so well. Jordan handles it well, but just be prepared. Can't wait for the next one!

Wonderful

What a wonderful and uplifting book. It deals with rejection, insecurity and heartache in such a good way without being overly dramatic. I looved the fact that Christianity is the base on which the story rests. Can't wait for the next book.

Kimberly Jordan is one of my favorite authors, and again she’s succeeded

There is a twist to this story. The one who appeared weak in this story turned out to be the strongest.
