This is perhaps the most important book of the New Message to me, other than Steps To Knowledge, partly because it states something very important that all people today should be aware of already or need to become aware of soon, placing this right up front as the most important issue facing us today; something about the nature of the life around us and our place in it. From Chapter 28, Greater Community Realities:
"There are several different interests which are represented by your visitors. They are not aligned with each other and in some cases are even in competition with each other. Yet, there is a general consensus, given the priorities of advancing races in the Greater Community, that your environment must be preserved even if your race destroys itself. You see, in the Greater Community, environment is considered more important than racial survival. Here you have a natural world with millions of species of plants and animals, a magnificent creation, the result of millions of years of development, all now at risk because of one selfish race that is spoiling the world out of ignorance and greed."
In this book we are given a detailed look at our neighbors' (and others') assessments of us, their encounters with us. And we are put on notice; we will not be allowed to destroy the biosphere of Earth with our radioactive products and our plastics and our poisons. This is a warning that we can and will be replaced for being very poor stewards of this rare gem of a world, this beautiful paradise of a garden planet which our neighbors regard as a biological storehouse, one they need to maintain access to in order to ensure their own survival.
