The Evers Series ... All in One Place! Have you ever dreamed of being magically transported to another location? To travel through time? To open a portal and visit other worlds? Then this series is for you!
The Ancestors' Key Fifteen-year-old Lola just said goodbye to life as a loner. One minute she’s living with her mom in Baltimore and hanging out with her best friend Jane and the next she’s receiving the keys to a southern mansion, boatloads of money, and an ancient family secret. She has no idea how she’s going to cope with a long-lost dad, an eccentric aunt, and a drop-dead gorgeous boy that keeps popping up everywhere she turns. Not to mention the magical book and the skeleton key that just appeared out of nowhere . . .
The Academy "This must be the strangest birthday letter ever!" Lola exclaimed.
Just when Lola Evers was settling into her new life in Virginia, making summer plans with her aunt and her new beau Jackson, she receives a letter summoning her to a two-week Summer Program at . . .wait for it . . . Magic school!
It seems the magic Traveling key she inherited comes with a catch: mandatory attendance at The Academy. Within days of arriving at the Academy, Lola realizes that Traveling instantly between places is the least strange thing she has done so far . . .
The Time Walker When she returned from the Summer Program at The Academy, Lola thought the rest of her summer would be filled with family trips to the beach, lounging by the pool, and getting to know her new brother. Instead, life at the Evers Mansion is even more complicated than it was before with the appearance of new magical artifacts for Time Travel and World Jumping—which have caught the interest of some unsavory players . . .
The World Jumper As the Evers Series reaches its climax, Lola and Devlin uncover more about their peculiar heritage and ancestors and spend some time with the High Elves on Summerset Isle, —a world that no longer adheres to the constrictive notions of time and space. Between kidnappings, break-ins, the loss of her parents, and newfound magical abilities, will Lola find the happy ending she deserves?

Marie-Hélène is a Canadian author. She writes young adult quest and adventure stories rooted in the world of fantasy, magic and time travel. With important coming of age lessons at the core of her writing, children and young adults alike will revel in the fantastical journeys of her characters. When not immersed in the worlds of magic and mystery, you’ll find Marie-Hélène hiking, cycling, or lying on the beach with a good book.
Having read some other books by Mrs. Lebeault, I was interested and liked the main idea of magical portals. The plot itself is interesting, albeit convoluted, following a newly orphaned girl finding a new family and fantastical things otherwise in fairytales. Additionally, most of the writing is well done, such as the beautiful descriptions of the settings or some of the sensations that the main character feels.
However, I also think this story needs some work. Notably in the first book, there are a lot of problems that led me to struggling to finish the boxset. There are some grammatical issues and typos, though they are few and far between, not enough to take me out of the scenes or anything. There are a few lines as well that struck me as odd in their wording, not how people in the South or otherwise speak. Additionally, the character building needs some growth. Like Lola is described as a loner, but she spends almost the entire series surrounded by people. Or outside of her apparently being attractive, I’ve not really seen much in her personality to draw beau’s to her.
Additionally, there are scenes like when Lola finds out about the portals, and asks a pointed question, but the aunt just laughs, and the question is left unaddressed. There are a near infinite number of questions I had as a reader when finding out about this, but they discuss it in a short window and then move on, as if all has been explained. This left me frustrated and took me out of the story because it felt unrealistic.
To someone like me, the most challenging and frustrating part of the story is some of the themes that I disagree with. For example, making it sound like anyone can fall in love if they answer a questionnaire and spend 90 minutes together. This seems to misunderstand what love is, that’s just attraction at that point. I also really struggled with Lola because I found her to be feckless when it comes to relationships. To have the expectation of engagement with someone, then within two weeks already making out with another person while being attracted to a third killed any of the joy I got from the otherwise well written romantic scenes. And I find it wrong to imply that you have to experience multiple partners to understand what a good relationship is.
Overall, I think this story has a fun, fantasy driven plot with a wide range of characters and mostly good writing. But the themes, an understanding of love that conflicts with my own experience, the need for more character building, and unaddressed plot points took me out of the story and made this a very difficult read.
I found the first book a bit boring but thank goodness i stayed with it because the next 3 books where interesting and exciting they where certainly different from any series i had read previously, When Lola's mother dies she is sent to live with her Aunt where she is given a Magic Key that unlocks doors to any destination, then Lola is summoned to a two-week Summer Program at a mysterious magic Academy. she finds that she has Magical powers. The Traveling Key she inherited comes with a great responsibility of being the Heir to her "deceased" Fathers estate. Time travel and portals to other worlds in the magic mix, there was also romance and Intrigue the only other complaint i have is the story is not as exciting at the end as i would have liked even though the ending is exactly as you would want it to be. So please stay with it because on the whole i really enjoyed these books.
I enjoyed this story. While there was a lot going on at times I enjoyed the series overall. An entertaining pretty clean adventure story with surprises as poor orphan Lola finds out she is not alone and makes friends and discovers magic exists. I laughed and groaned and shook my head at times when Lola showed her young age. But I found it easy to read and get sucked into the story and wonder what was in store for Lola next. Most questions and troubles were solved.
I truly enjoyed this entire series. The characters stand out for having a different perspective on what is happening around them. The writing is clear and straightforward - and keeps the story moving along. Definitely worth the read.
An amazing story for everyone. Whether you love fantasy or not, these books are for you. Going through a Portal, ending up in a different place, definitely magical. I was lost in another dimension for awhile and wanted to stay forever.

Clean Interconnected Romantic Suspense Fantasy Boxset
I am so thankful I got this series as a boxset. It covers a few months in the life of a 15 year old girl named Lola. It starts shortly after the death of her mother and she's moving to live with an aunt she doesn't remember. She has no clue how much her life will change. Full of twists and surprises.
I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
