I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "A DEAL WITH DEATH" This was one very exciting, interesting, entertaining, addicting, mysterious, magical storyline with a few twists you didn't see coming.
Odette Allemand died as a baby and her mother made a deal with death and she was brought back along with powers to see and talk to spirits and help them cross over.
Odette's Uncle Mathias knew of her powers while training her he used her for his own nefarious reason he was stealing souls put in ouangas the magical jars Baron Samedi possessed her body to shatter all the jars to release the souls.
Mathias went balistic on Odette attacked her and Emile hus son pulled him off her and he started attacking his son that's when she used her power to through him across the room breaking his neck.
Emile and Odette buries Mathias in the swamp and never spoke after that her dad showed up and she said she wanted to move away never to use her powers ever again.
Odette returns to New Orleans where her BF Natashia who was a Momba a Voodoo Priestess who owned a Voodoo shop she was helping her cleans the new 19th century mansion she just bought.
James Malveaux was a Werewolf with Crescent City Pack he'd been having dreams of a woman his wolf wanted to claim as their fated mate but he didn't know who she was.
James works for Mason Remodeling he was sent to Odette's to make sure that what she wanted was all set, Luke was going to come but his sister who had premonitions said that it should be James to go.
Odette opens to James not sure at first who he is then sees the truck invites him in they went to high school together but she disappeared for awhile they would be working together on her remodeling they was definitely chemistry there.
James gets attacked by the spirit Nikolas who inhabits her mansion jealous because he says this is his home but she tells nit to do it again cause it's now her home.
Odette has met her soul mate a few times but it always ends in a horrific murder so she's not looking for another soul mate but she can't deny the chemistry between James and herself they've awaken the monster.
Baron Samedi Spirit of Death needed to help them in hopes of breaking the cycle will they get their HEA so much happens in this book you just can't stop reading Carrie Pulkinen did an excellent job writing this phenominal paranormal read with spirits, Werewolves, witches, loas, and other interesting paranormal creatures tbe characters were well developed, interesting, entertaining, captivating, they pulled you right in to this amazing story I so can't wait for the next book I would definitely recommend it won't disappoint.

A great read about control. Odette is a voodoo practitioner associated with the lua spirit Baron Samedi, the god of Death. She moves into an old house in New Orleans and lives her life without living or giving into her mysterious powers. But when ghosts walk through the house and her soul mate returns, fate seems to have other ideas. Desperate to avoid fate, Odette will have to find allies and use powers to save him. Can she do it or run from fear of her powers?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn't put down. Well developed characters like Odette standing up for herself but vulnerable and afraid underneath or James determined and cocky but kind and caring underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the fun friend Natasha or the no nonsense Noah.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the house with its bright pink walls and little windows, inviting and welcoming but still large enough for a sense of unease with empty rooms wonderfully written. Or the use of colour throughout in the small details like the purple veve scarves and the cards for a splash of colour in a harsh world around them. Or the use of the senses with the taste of rum or the smell fot he forests later on so strong its as if you're actually there.
A wonderful example of world building with this magical society coexisting alongside humanity with their own laws and rules. A wonderful example of building upon the sequel with added fantasy elements such as ghosts and priestesses and fortune telling and the Rougarou later on.
I also loved the sense of culture this novel includes with the voodoo and its Haitain roots with tis gods and rituals and offerings, giving it an unique flavour to draw readers in and a sense of community between characters and loved the inclusion of its language and terminology which was a lovely touch. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4)
By: Carrie Pulkinen
5 out of 5 stars

The story A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is an awesome and amazing book to read. It pulled me in right from the start and didn’t let me go until I had finished the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Odette Allemand and James Malveaux. Odette is a smart, strong, independent, and beautiful woman. The only problem is that every time she meets her soulmate things end horrifically. Then she meets James. James is a werewolf who feels that he is broken. He remembers Odette from back in school. He is finding that his wolf wants to claim her as his mate. There is a deep attraction between these two. There seems to be a connection between them and there are sparks when they are together. Are Odette and James destined to go through an ending that never seems to change? What does their future hold? Read this book to find out. This story creates an atmosphere of suspense that had me turning pages to find out what is going to happen next. I got caught up in the romance and the emotions of the characters. I grew to care about Odette and James with each chapter that I read, and I couldn’t help but want things to work out for them. I enjoyed the bantering and interactions between them. The author has created a story that you won’t want to put down with unforgettable characters that come alive. I highly recommend reading this book.

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack #4) by Carrie Pulkinen was an engaging, original read that had me hooked.

I have been waiting for this book, and I'm all in a good feels place cause the wait is over, but I'm sad at the same time cause I want more books from this series like yesterday.

This series has been by far my favourite of the year, and I can't get enough of this world that Carrie Pulkiene has created. This book opens with a dark bang, and it sets the stage for the crazy good to come. I love how there's always a mystery, and how the female MC's are always kickass and brilliant. Sure they have their hot alpha male werewolf, but they're no push over, and this book is no different with Odette. I loved her, and I think she's probably my favourite MC so far. Sure sure, James is great too, but Odette, she was just outstanding, and I have a major girl crush.

Overall this book was quite the read, it was as I said, fresh, original and just one of those wow reads that gets your blood flowing. The detail was on point, the plot solid, and the dark themes helped keep your mind engaged. There was enough romance to break it up, and keep it light while not overpowering the characters.

To end, this book this series is a must read, and it gets my super high recommedantion and my golden stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

Dang this was a real eye opener for me regarding voodoo and its religion. The different titles and that not all are evil even though that might be your first thought. Anyway this is informative, realistic, full of action, angst an of course a splash of romance.

As a newborn Odette had died and Baron Samedi granted her life again while giving her powers that she didn't fully grasp. Her father since he knew nothing of voodoo sent her to her uncle to learn however he knew the full scope of her power and used it for nefarious purposes and when the Baron found out he was keeping souls in special jars (don't remember the spelling for the name) he was angry and took possession of the young Odette.

James is a second born werewolf meaning he had a human as one half of his parentage, he began having dreams about a mysterious woman that his wolf had claimed. So when his Alpha and his boss sent him to Odette's house to go over the specs she wanted he started having feeling for her and was torn in two.

Discover how these two troubled characters found forever love within this series opener. I'm sure you will be glad I know I was.

I voluntarily chose to read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for my honest opinion.

Every time she meets her soulmate, Odette Allemand’s life ends in a horrific murder. She’s determined to survive this time, but a sexy werewolf seals her fate with his enticing kiss. James Malveaux wants to claim Odette as his mate, but without the help of the Spirit of Death, they can kiss their lives goodbye.

This New Orleans romance immerses readers into a chillingly wonderful culture that the author has brought to vibrant life. The characters are strong, bold and easily draw readers into their inner circle as they try to fight fate and unravel the mystery of their past lives. The romance is a very suspenseful one full of passion, chemistry and emotional angst that makes this heroine and hero life like and their situation very intriguing.

The fast paced plot builds the suspense up to hair raising and spine tingling heights as Odette and James try to appease Baron Semedi and the Loas in order to change their fate and defeat an evil monster. The setting of the story and the author’s wonderful depiction of the New Orleans and the Voodoo culture adds great ambiance to this story making it easy for readers to believe in and become completely caught up in this splendid and fascinating romance full of werewolves, spirits, chemistry and passion.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. A Deal With Death is the fourth book in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series. Now here is a book that will take you on a wild ride! I really enjoyed Odette and James' story. I can't tell you how many times the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end while reading this book. If you have no experience with Voodoo (and even if you do), Carrie Pulkinen gives a very basic and respectful view of this religion and its practitioners. With an exceptional eye to detail, a colorful and mystical world unfolds along with the complications and ramifications of dealing with Loas. Past life regressions, curses and ghosts are just a few of the situations that Odette and James will have to face if they want their chance at love. I absolutely love that this book (in my opinion) was written in pictures. New Orleans came into sharp focus and I could practically smell the city and the swamp and feel the sticky heat. A great addition to her Crescent City Wolf Pack series. This sexy read is for Mature Readers Only Please!

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is another exciting book in this series. It is a paranormal story that encompasses wolves and voodoo and is set in New Orleans and can definitely be read as a standalone but I know you will enjoy the other books in the series just as much. It was one intriguing and interesting read especially learning more about voodoo and it’s craft and religion. Add in werewolves and demons, death and fear, possession and spirits and you have yourself one addicting story.

Odette has always been a child of death but she has pushed aside her teachings and faith after one awful night when her life changed forever. Now she is in a race against time to stop a cycle what always ends with her death.

James has just found his dream renovation and the girl that held his interest in school. What he finds along the way is his mate but unless he can break the cycle in time he is facing certain death.

I look forward to more.

While I enjoyed this story it was a little out of my realm. There was a lot of voodoo talk, Ghosts and going back Into the past. This does focus on the relationship between James and Odette. I really liked James in previous books and while he didn’t disappoint he didn’t raise any higher either. Odette is into voodoo and after a childhood accident she doesn’t practice as much as she used to. She has tight control on herself and has become very stodgy. James wants to break that control but something else is in the mix. Can they survive what is coming?

This is my fourth book in the series. Each one is different and it’s Not Necessary to have read them first. Again the story was a little off for me...I did learn a lot about Voodoo practices and guardians but to me it seemed to stray away from the werewolf packs. The characters seems nice and strong but I didn’t love them like I was expecting too. Was I on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen? Yes I was but it didn’t seem enough. Sorry this one just fell short for me.

A Deal With Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen
4 Stars

This is another amazing shifter romance by Ms. Pulkinen. It is part four in the Crescent City Wolf Pack Series but you can read it as a stand-alone. The story is filled with love, death and voodoo. Odette Allemand is a voodoo practitioner who’s Met Tet is the god of death. Unfortunately she’s been on his bad side for the past few years. She’s stuck in a cycle of rebirth and violent death and vows to never fall in love again. James walks into her life and throws a wrench in her plans. Now she must beg forgiveness from the god of death if she wants to survive this life.

This is a story that will hook you in from the start and not let you go until the end. With mystery, danger and suspense, you will not be able to read fast enough to see what happens. I loved the book and found it to be original and engaging. I hope there will be a part five.

A Deal With Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen
4 Stars!!!!

Yet again another book that hooked me and reeled me in . I really find that I enjoy this series and find the author's writing style to be quite refreshing. I found that the characters just jump right off of the pages. There was also a well balanced world of the supernatural and everyday life. I really enjoyed how the author brought in the world of Voodoo and built the story around it.

I really found Odette to be quite the character. I liked how the author was able to build the story around her past and how all the characters fit into it. I felt that the chemistry between Odette and James really added to the drama that unfolds around them. The author has such a creative style and brings the whole world she is writing about come to life. I could feel the spirits as Odette tried to help them. I really cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal/fantasy romance. This novel follows in the series closely with the previous books, but could be read separately. I do highly recommend that the books be read in order so that you get a full understanding in the depth this series provides and additional background on some of the characters that appear throughout the series.

In A Deal with Death spirits and shifters are the focus; the story line is high speed and exciting from beginning to end. Carrie Pulkinen had me sitting on the edge of my seat practically biting my nails as I crested page after page to see what fates were about to be unfolded next in this book. Odette and James are magnificent in this story and I loved how they were each missing something, but were drawn towards one another regardless. This author is highly talented and a great story teller!

A Deal with Death by Carrie Pulkinen is the fourth book Crescent City Wolf Pack series. This is brilliant series that does not need to be read in order however I would highly recommend you give them all a go.
This book has got to be my absolute favourite one so far. I was drawn into the story and the characters immediately. I felt such a connection to Odette. I couldn’t honestly say what it is about her I like so much I just did.
The whole story was excellent as well. I thought it was unique and interesting. It easily kept my attention the whole way through – to be honest I could not put this book down. I read the whole thing in one sitting and wanted more when it ended. This whole series has been a fantastic read and this one just excels. I would definitely recommend you give this series a try as the author has done a brilliant job with it so far.

This was so exciting besides the shifters, there are ghosts, voodoo priestesses, possession, a Rougarou, past life regression and a sacrifice to beat all others. James always felt like he was lacking but none of the rest of the pack felt like that. He was one of the best hunters they had. Odette was extremely powerful but afraid of her powers. Even though they went to middle school together and hadn't seen each other for years, fate seemed to remind them. If they thought they could ignore the draw to each other, they both had another think coming! Again Carrie Pulkinen has given us a glimpse into the paranormal world in New Orleans. The city has so much history and magic I wish I could visit her world for a bit. Especially Natasha and Odette. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Odette had a terrible experience as a young girl with her Uncle who took advantage of her magic for his own wicked purposes but with the help of Baron Samedi and her cousin the tables are turned but unfortunately her uncle is killed in the exchange. As a result she chooses not to use her magic anymore but does do past life regressions and finds out that whenever she meets her soul mate it ends in their gruesome murder so she is equally determined never to let a man in hoping that she can avoid the gruesome end but when she meets James and James realises that this is his mate it won't be so easy to deny what fate is in store. Can these two avoid the curse that has been plaguing them through lifetimes. The characters are excellent, the danger will make your heart race as will the passion between them.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

A Deal With Death is the fourth novel in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is my fourth novel by this author.

Odette Allemand is a woman who doesn’t fear death since she practices Voodoo. She also gets reincarnated after she dies whenever she meets her soulmate. Not wanting to die this time, she is sure she can beat the cycle.

James Malveaux is werewolf who hasn’t seen Odette in years but once the two meet again, his wolf wants to claim her as his mate.

Can the two change fate and have a happy life together?

This is my favorite of the series so far. The premise was different than anything I’ve read before and the romance between the two felt refreshing and different because of that.

I loved the main character’s name because it was unique and it made me think of the Swan Princess movie.

I hope there is another novel in this series soon.

I give A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen, 4 stars.

Odette has decided that the best way to live her life is to have complete control over is. So she turns her back on her voodoo religion and never lets her control slip. Until she meets James. This hot werewolf makes her think things she doesn't want. But she feels so good with him. However, she has bigger concerns. Things are happening in her town that she must help stop. Can she let go of the past and help stop this evil?

This is a great book and nice addition to the series. James and Odette are really good characters and while this fits in with the series, it is different enough to stand on its own. Besides the attraction of the two main characters, the suspense side of the story is quite interesting. I could not put this book down.

If you like paranormal romance with a suspense twist, this book is for you.

5-stars

A Deal With Death is book four in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series. I loved it just as much as I did all the other books in this series. Odette was an amazing character and I absolutely loved her ability even if it was some what dangerous. I also really loved James' character. There was so much more to these two than I realized at the start of the novel. As with this authors other novels, there is never a dull moment. She is very descriptive with each setting in the New Orleans area and it is easy to visualize and almost immerse yourself in its culture. I love this series and really enjoyed this novel. I highly recommend it!

This book was great, the only thing I didn't like was how It took him way too long to figure out and the entire back-and-forth and his conflicted feelings were driving me nuts. Aside from that though, this book was amazing. Great pacing, great plot, loved the whole spooky dark magic vibe we got from it, it's very different from the other books in the series. I normally am not super into witch/voodoo/black magic plot lines but this one was great, it kept up the tension the whole damn time and I couldn't stop reading it.

A Deal with Death- Carrie Pulkinen

5-stars

A Deal with Death is the fourth book in Carrie Pulkinen’s Crescent City Wolf Pack series. This book is honestly phenomenal, I’ve read every book of the series and have loved them all.

This story is intense, action-packed, suspenseful and thrilling, I was intrigued from the very beginning and like always with this author’s work I was able to read it in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I just had to get answers to all my questions and fortunately this author did not disappoint.

Though this book can be read as a standalone I would recommend the whole series, this is one that you won’t want to miss!!!

A Deal With Death is the fourth book in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series. You can read this as a standalone, but all of the books in this series have been stellar so you’ll probably want to read them anyway.

I have always loved a story with Voodoo components, and this one has a great foundation. I also loved the way the reincarnation aspect is woven in. This story caught my attention from the beginning and held it all the way through. The characters are vibrant and come alive on the page making you feel like you are in the story.

Murder. Romance. Spirits. Destiny. It’s a wonderfully written tale of the paranormal variety! 😊

While this is the fourth book in "Crescent City Wolf Pack" series A DEAL WITH DEATH is the first book I've read and it absolutely worked as a stand-alone. I.have added the other books in the series to my TBR list.

This story started and ended with the same strength that flows through the entire book. Told in multi POVs in past and present tense, voodoo and magic is essential to the story.

There are a few surprises along the way and it was an interesting read which I read in one sitting
My favorite quote from the story is: "A fate bound mate would never cheat, and he wouldn't settle for anything less.

I absolutely recommend this book.

Voodoo magic

Odette came from a line of Voodoo Mambos. James was a werewolf with the Crescent City Pack, but had never felt whole. He attributed it to his human mother.
Odette was rich, owned a rum distillery and had just bought the house of her dreams. It had always been James’ home of his dreams too.
The Pack’s construction company was hired to bring it back to its original glory and James became reacquainted with Odette while working on it.
In working through issues they both had they discovered that they had to work together and defeat a monster that had prevented their happiness before.
Very good story about how it can take a while to get your HEA.

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack #4) by Carrie Pulkinen

5 out of 5 stars
A deal with death is the fourth book in the Crescent City Wolf pack written by Carrie Pulkinen is a great book that goes with a great series. I have read all four books in this series and they just get better with each book. The characters are great with quirky personalities but they needed this for their quest to solve the puzzle.
Voodoo practitioner Odette Allemand, isn’t scared of death but dying sure as hell does. And every time she meets her soul mate, her life ends in a horrific murder. Then she's reincarnated to have it happen all over again. She is determined to survive this lifetime, so she has closed herself off to her powers and spirit
But when James Malveaux a sexy werewolf knocks on her door, he unearths emotions she thought she'd buried, now her fate is sealed with his enticing kiss. He hasn't seen her since junior high, but the moment they reunite, his wolf wants to claim her as his mate.
Now that they have reconnected they have awakened the monster and hope it doesn’t kill them before they get a chance to kill it first.
Will James make peace with his wolf and accept Odette? Can he help Odette make peace with her inner demons and the Spirit? Or will the couple be doomed to the same gruesome ending as their countless lives before?
I highly recommend this book/series…

I am not a huge reader of paranormal books but the blurb of this book sucked me in. A Deal with Death is my first book by this author and definitely will not be my last. This book is about Odette who is one strong woman who every time she falls in love her mate dies. Once she gets reaquainted with James who she knew from school things start to change. James being a werewolf knows that she is his mate but can their destiny be any different than the her past soulmates? This book was a very good read and kept my interest for the entire book.
