Review
I enjoyed this book but I wouldn’t compare it to FSOG or any other controlling BDSM book.  It is much softer without the “dominant” side to it.  Yeah, Ethan wants Chloe and will stop at nothing to have her, but that is where it ends.  I enjoyed the sassiness of Chloe and laughed at the “Smoothie” episode plus I loved the whole banter between the two of them.  Ethan was “the man” and he stole my heart with how sensitive and caring he was for Chloe.

It did kinda irk me how weak Chloe seemed to be about sex even when she was falling in love with Ethan and knew that she could trust him.

The writing style was exceptional and I felt like I was watching each scene unfold as it happened.  I was able to connect with the characters and felt each emotion as they were living them.

Re-Cap
Chloe starts a new job as an intern at Frost Industries and on her first day at work, she gets into a “show of will” match with the “Smoothie guy”.  Little does she know that it is really Ethan Frost behind the counter waiting on her.  She returns home to find a present from Mr. Frost himself and Chloe won’t have any of it.  She tries to return the next morning and gets into another confrontation with Ethan, but he will not step down when he wants something ---- and Ethan WANTS Chloe.

Chloe is too emotionally damaged and only wants to concentrate on her job and becoming a lawyer.  She doesn’t have time for relationships nor does she have the mental capacity because of her troubled past.  Ethan is patient and continues to try to win her over by wooing and courting her gently.

When Chloe finally opens up to Ethan and explains her past --- then comes the fireworks and the reader believes that everything is going to end HEA!! But noooo….it’s not that way at all…instead we are left with an “Epilogue” that ends all cliffhangers!

Wrap Up
If you are looking for a FSOG twin…this is not the book for you but if you want a sweet and cute romance with angst at the end…..then pick this one up!

This was a softer version of FSOG with no BDSM elements. I am not a fan of that trilogy because it was ridiculous. I was extremely bored with this book. However near the end , I had guessed what would happen and I got kinda hooked on reading it, but was very disappointed to see another cliffhanger in the sea of other new books. I usually don't mind cliffhangers but after reading this book I was pissed to see one because I started to like the book basically near the end!!! The part that had me puzzled was a gifting belly chain. In a book with absolutely no BDSM elements, the character's lifestyle had no such thing with it, I was kinda lost when the main heroine is suddenly talking about belly chain not as a colar "sign of ownership*, but as a "manifestation of the promise that he will be next to her". From where did that come from if there is absolutely no talk about anything BDSM related in the whole book?!?!?!?!?! Both characters have traumatized pasts (as they all have), but in this book we only find out about hers and in cliffhanger we see what could ruin her, their reletionship. Because his secret ruins her again.

I guess the fans of FSOG will love it, I however found it meh.

He's a self made sexy man.

Who can resist the heady mix of a sexy rich CEO with enigmatic charm and a down to earth quality? Not me! And that's exactly what we're presented with in Ruined.... in the name of Ethan Frost.

Oh, yes! I itched too! ;)

Chloe's first encounter with Ethan is just adorable and unexpected. It really warmed me to the characters and the story, and made me begin to fall in book love.

As with all good love stories, both characters have a history that defines them, hurts them in some way, and through the course of the book, we discover their demons, their sadness and whether they can fulfill the needs of one another?

Her reasons maybe go deeper than simply not wanting to date the boss, Chloe perceives Ethan to be too rich and too powerful… Why? She feels damaged, ruined and more..... Things begin to change, she starts to see things differently…. I felt her anguish, her turmoil, her pain.

I felt the connection between Chloe and Ethan, the first time they made love I was right there with Chloe feeling all her emotions.... It gave me the deep beautiful book flutters.

Can they be together?
What other secrets are revealed?
Can they survive?

I loved the way the story came together at the end, even though it's a cliffy and has left me hanging!! If I'm completely honest, I have to say, the ending felt slightly rushed, I wanted a little more of some elements and I could have taken less clues as to what was going to happen.... I'm so picky! But, all in all, a really fabulous, yummy, HOT read. If you like a sexy CEO who has the capacity to love his lady hard, then you will really enjoy this book!

I'm look forward to the next book in the series, one that I believe will conclude their lovely story!

“I love you,” I whisper into his ear, relinquishing the final, broken piece of myself into his care. I can’t stop myself, don’t want to stop myself, even knowing he might very well throw it back in my face before this night is over. “I love you, Ethan Frost, and will until the day I die.”

Let me just get this off my chest right off the bat. No, this wasn't a new concept: Billionaire CEO falls hard for beautiful intern with a painful past. That being said, if you're sick of this plot then don't read this book and annihilate it. I read it because, frankly, this storyline has become like book crack to me. I've read it before, been disappointed too many times to count, but I can't stop consuming them. Because the ones I read that worked were so good....well they keep me coming back for more. This one right here, I had hopes, but went in with no expectations. And for me, it was an unequivocal success.

What this book had:

Heartbreaking secrets

Raw sexual tension that keeps you turning the pages wanting more

One sensitive, yet take-control CEO ready to battle the heroine's demons

Heroine overcoming a horrific childhood and a betrayal by her family

Ability to wring a gamut of emotions out of you

Our heroine Chloe Girard is a tough yet fragile girl just trying to keep all the pieces of herself put together after a tragic event in her past. She's been beat down and her trust has been broken by her parents who are supposed to love and protect her. So she cuts herself off from her wealthy family and is determined that she will succeed in life despite the hardships she's already had to overcome. She's putting herself through school and starting a coveted summer internship at Frost Industries that is just part of her ultimate plan for independence and freedom. On her first day, she runs into an obnoxious surfer looking guy behind the counter of the juice bar in the company cafeteria. Little does she know that the frustrating as hell man she has a battle of will with is none other than Ethan Frost, CEO and environmental philanthropist.

Of course, sparks and tension fly and Chloe is puzzled over her reaction to him. For the first time, someone makes her want more than merely surviving.

In that one, perfect moment, I want more. I want everything. Everything I’ve denied myself since I was fifteen years old. Everything I’ve told myself I don’t want and shouldn’t have.

Ethan begins a relentless pursuit and she puts up a good fight, but he's not one you can say no to for long. As determined as he is, he doesn't come off as an insensitive selfish jerk only concerned with his own needs. When he looks at her, he sees what she so valiantly tries to hide from the rest of the world. The fragile girl that's been ripped apart and is holding people away to protect herself.

Most days I can fool myself, pretend that everything’s fine. That everything’s normal. But today isn’t most days. From the moment Ethan kissed me, I’ve felt my brokenness keenly. Felt the cracks in the placid calm of my surface.

He doesn't know what she's been through, but he wants to be the one to help heal the hurt and catch her if she falls. He's sensitive enough to know how far to push her and strong enough to give her the strength and support she needs.

“I’m not broken.” The words come out sounding harsh and jagged. “Oh, baby.” He reaches for my hand, rubs his thumb gently over my knuckles. “I know that. I just wasn’t sure you did.”

I loved how sweet and tender he could be. At times he treated her like a precious treasure and he could be so loving.

His hands come up to cup my face, to tilt my head this way and that so he can delve deeper. So I can welcome him wholly inside me. And I do. For these few, stolen moments out of time, I welcome everything he can give me.

He was also insanely sexy and they two of them could definitely burn up the pages. Like seriously, I needed to take a cold shower break a couple times.

My hands come up, tangle in the cool silk of his dress shirt and tug. Ethan bites at my lower lip in response and I gasp at the darkly seductive edge of pain that tangles with the pleasure. He takes instant advantage, strokes his tongue across my own. Over the top, then underneath to the slick, sensitive bottom. I’ve never been kissed there before and it feels shockingly good, so good that I find myself opening even more, sucking him deeper and deeper inside me.

I grind my mouth against his, suck his lip between my teeth and bite a little harder than I normally do. Not hard enough to do more than sting a little, but definitely enough to let him know I want him. Want this. He tastes like chocolate this morning. Like champagne and berries and Ethan. Just Ethan.

It wasn't overdone to the point where the sex overshadowed the story which seems a very common problem in other books. There's nothing worse than a book that's all sex and no feeling or emotion to it. The blurb states that this book is for fans of FSOG and Bared to you leading you to believe that this will be another BDSM book. That is not the case. There is none to be found and I am definitely fine with that. Throughout this book, Chloe learns that it's ok to put your trust in someone and lean on them a little bit. But she is unable to completely share all her secrets and after he finds out everything will he still want to be there for her?

The end had me gasping and cursing because, yes, dammit, there is a cliffhanger. I really wasn't prepared for that-I thought this was a stand-alone. My only other complaint was that there was a lot of inner dialogue of Chloe thinking about her past and how hard her life has been. It was quite a build up until her secret was finally revealed to Ethan. I wouldn't have minded less of that while it was emotional and heartbreaking. So, while this plot has been done before, it packs an emotional punch, it had me glued to the pages until the end, and completely invested in the characters. That, in my opinion, means well done.

A solid 4 star read

When Chloe encounters a man that gets under her skin on the first day of her internship, she had no idea that man was the one and only Ethan Frost. The CEO and one of the most eligible bachelors, but she's not looking for a man so it really shouldn't matter, right?

Ethan is instantly drawn to her, there is a bit of fire to her personality and something just beneath the surface that craves to be protected. Chloe has not had it easy, her past can't seem to fade away and as she harbors the secrets it allows those fears to continue to haunt her. But there is something different about Ethan, she doesn't fear him although she believes for her heart's sake she should. She finds that the moments they share are not simply enough to rid herself of the sudden desire, a feeling she's never had before. But once she opens up to Ethan and takes their relationship to the next level, she finds she's not the only one with secrets.

==========================

The start of this gave me a serious case of the butterflies. When Chloe first encounters Ethan you just knew she was having a witty argument with someone that was far more than just a juice boy and the following encounters had that perfect build of chemistry and tension that you can just feel through the pages. This book had a lot of build up, but given that Chloe's particular past was one that did not allow for her to throw complete caution to the wind, it worked. But once she realizes that she can give this man trust, she is done with holding herself back. She was finally releasing the chains that tied her to her past.

The first few sexual encounters they share were sensual, even with the innocence of just a kiss; you were left in a lust filled fog. Plus we have a bit of an office romance thrown at us and I'm a sucker for the rich & powerful CEO and the innocent intern sneaking off to do naughty things. Ethan was a tad possessive but not in an alpha male kind of way. I sense there is one hiding beneath the surface, but he was wise enough to see the vulnerability in Chloe to give her the tenderness that she needed.

The story and the characters were both well written and developed. There is a cliffhanger type ending, not so much with the status of the characters but more so with the plot. And I have to admit that although I was expecting this particular twist, the author did change it up just a bit to make you doubt your own predictions.

I sat on this NetGalley arc for quite a long time because face it, I'm a huge major big fat cliffhanger chicken. I'm so glad I waited because holy heck what a freaking shock, what a wonderful sexy love story and what an amazing well written and intensely sensual, emotional and provocative read. I'm so totally invested and eagerly diving into book two. I'm so in love with Ethan Frost.

That's what this book made me... made me feel lost... lost and very sad, not because I don't liked it... no! Because I liked it... no! wrong! I'VE LOVED! EVERY SINGLE WORD! EVERY SINGLE TEAR THAT I'VE DROPPED WAS WORTH IT! EVERY SINGLE GIGGLE,IT MADE MY HEART BEAT FASTER! EVERY SINGLE SEX SCENE SENT ME TO MADNESS, AND I THINK I WAS MORE THAN PEACEFUL WITH MY CRAZY THOUGHTS!
I was sad because their pain become mine, because I wanted to fight with them and when I've read the last word... I find myself wondering when I will be able to move on...
Where's the second book? Where's my breath? *sigh*

In this book you will get to know Chloe, an amazing girl, a force of nature, but a broken heart and soul, with an almost unfathomable shield... until Ethan!
Ethan is the dream of every single woman and man!! Yes! MAN!He is what women wish, and what men want to become. He's a greek God, and an extraordinaire man. He's so human and so good, that's impossible not to love him!
Chloe and Ethan will fight.... fight against each other... fight together... they will fight the world... they will fight life! But sometimes, even that isn't enough... because when is destined, they only become the audience in their journey. And it hurts to be powerless.
But I think that's one of the amazing things in this book. That there isn't coincidences...

Before this book, I only had read one book from Mrs. Wolff, and at that book I knew I would be a inconditional fan from her. I knew that every emotion I felt there, was just the beginning of an amazing journey through her mind. She transforms stories to works of art... She allows me to dream...

After this book I am ruined... ruined forever...

From Scarlett's Bordello... http://ladyscarlettsbordello.blogspot...

Didn’t finish at 30%. No surprise really when I discover that here we have yet, another abused woman. This time though, I had NO idea that this theme would be in the book, and after reading to about 20% and wanting to put it down because of the sheer mind numbing nothingness going on, I forced myself to at least give it another ten percent. And yet, here we are…

Ruined is supposed to be for fans of Bared to You by Sylvia Day, which I consider myself to be, so when I started reading this book and it opens up with her whining and being surprised that her brand spankin’ new Louboutin heels are giving her blisters and hurting her feet, you can imagine my reaction – What the freakin’ hell???
She meets Ethan in a scene that almost reminds me of undercover boss in reverse. The woman admits that she’s googled him before, yet she doesn’t recognize him since he’s wearing…wait for it…boardshorts. I had no idea that they could make a person’s face look so drastically different. I do believe I might need to research this new found information!!!
Dude buys her a blender and strawberries, the ungrateful cow takes the blender back but keeps the strawberries that it seems her roommate has gorged herself on….Yep, this is really riveting stuff, especially when the author has managed to write in such a way that there is no chemistry between the characters at all.
You want an example???
So he’s just kissed her for the first time and here is the quote: “The tip of his tongue slides gently along my own, circling slowly, slowly, slowly.” I’m just going to pause it right there for a minute to point out two things. One – The word tongue is one of the most un-sexiest words in the world. If there hasn’t been a list put out with tongue on it, then there should be. It. Is. Not. Sexy. And Two – writing slowly, slowly, slowly is making reading this kiss even more awkwardly painful and, yes, you got it, SLOW!!! We get it, he’s savouring her, teasing her, tempting her…would you look at that, those three examples could have worked instead of slowly, slowly, slowly.
Now onto the rest of the quote: “Licking along the top of my tongue, then the bottom before moving on to the inside of my cheek, the roof of my mouth. He plays with the frenulum between my upper lip and my gum, and I shudder a little-no one’s ever done that before and it’s shocking how good it feels.”
NO, what’s shocking is that someone thinks THIS is sexy!!! And don’t worry love, I shuddered too, cause the whole thing was creepy. Honest to God, who catalogues everything that goes on while you’re kissing? If you’re able to think about where the guys tongue is and what he’s doing with it, then clearly, he’s doing it wrong!!!
Now we get on to the fun bit, the ungrateful cow. She’s not only ungrateful, she’s also convoluted. In her first scene with Ethan we discover she doesn’t like blueberries. Really, doesn’t like blueberries and yet in the scene where he’s still kissing her from above… “He tastes like spearmint and lemonade. And blueberries. Always blueberries. On him, they taste delicious. Sweet and tart and oh so addicting.” Ummmmm….double take, say what???
Then there’s this line: “I’m stubborn, more than strong-willed enough that I can usually outlast the best of them-“ Ahhhhh…No! You’re Not!!! This is the woman who so far has given in to her roommate over the shoes, who gave in and tired a blueberry smoothie even though she doesn’t like blueberries AND who allowed her boss to give her a project way over her head and then let everyone in the office give her a hard time over it.
If you’re going to have a line like that in your story, then please, please, please, (see what I did there) make sure that you have the goods to back it up. There is nothing more annoying than an author believing their character is strong and independent yet has written a weak willed co-dependent. It was at this point that I put the book down and decided I couldn’t take it anymore.
There is a lack of emotional connection between the reader and the character, which flows through to the other characters. The action that there is, is mind numbingly boring and the overtly obvious hints that she was abused we overdone. We get it, but subtlety works best for these kinds of things.
As someone great once said: Anyone can put words on a page, but it takes a true author to tell a story. In this case, it’s just words on a page.
1 star.

I was really into the book, the storyline seemed promising. And halfway through it sorta fell apart for me. Chloe was too whiny, Ethan needs to cut his losses and move on. Lol. I won’t be finishing the series. Not intrigued enough.

4 'the only thing 'ruined' by this book were my knickers' stars.

So I'm not going to lie, it was the blurb that intrigued me on this one, fickle as I may be but you only have to mention the mere words 'fifty' and 'shades' in the same sentence and Im reaching for my special rabbit friend whom I keep in my undies drawer.....this book had me salivating in minutes and I was quickly turning the pages being sucked in by the quick paced story line.

It's boy meets girl; millionaire, and totally sexy (i.e. he has an 8 pack and a happy trail...) CEO Ethan Frost, meets new intern and sassy woman of intrigue Chloe Girard. It's classic rich boy meets poor (ish) girl, boy wants girl, girls not too sure, boy totally ignores this and preservers anyway. What I must say, is if you are after the low level BDSM aspects of fifty shades and the whole 'dominating alpha' vibe, then you would be feeling a tad disappointed, however if you are after the whole fifty shades/Christian Grey sex appeal, the high sexual chemistry between the two main characters, the slow build; 'will they/won't they' feel, the butterflies, the anxious excitement, the squirming in your seat as you read types effect......then you will hopefully be as gripped as I was.

Yes I know there are some who may be sick of the whole millionaire CEO meets damaged new intern approach but when done well these stories just blow my mind (as well as other things) and this book in particular and this authors very appealing Ethan Frost, certainly brings a lot to the erotica table.

The book had intrigue, humour, it had erotic scenes, (no not the whip wielding, tie me to a cross and get the arse plugs out kind) but totally knicker changing all the same. Yes ok so come the end there was a slight element of WTF, and yes I did guess what was going to happen but that didn't take away my need to keep on reading, it didn't take away the fact that I immediately looked up book two in the series to see when the hell It was being realised and it didn't take away from the fact that I totally want to be ruined by Ethan Frost myself!

4 solid Stars!
Really liked it!
For the biggest part I had a good time reading it and everything was breezy..

Interesting storyline, but nothing extraordinary. Actually i found the first 15% awkard. And also the relationship developement was rushed, i needed more time to believe the growth of feelings they have for each other.

But it was engaging nonetheless.. I found rather refreshing that a romance author for a change doesn't stick to the physical characteristics of the hero so much.

Their story proceeds nicely and I loved the care packages so much, they were a special element. And the sandcastle scene also was a really good moment.. And then the trip..

You know something will happen when the hero goes to a trip and changes completely his behaviour out of the blue.. I didn't see that coming though.. No way..
The last part of the book is great!!

The tension, the passion, the sex.. WOW..
And then the revelation accompanied by a huge cliffhanger..

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- I hate her family. Even her brother, because he didn't protect her from their parents.
- Ethan is in an awful state right now.. He can't escape this ordeal unscathed..
- Tori is a nice person, i liked her so much..
- Good editing.
- Many questions..
- Girly little moments.
- The last scene O.M.G.
- Chloe was a good character.
- I can't wait for the next book!

Wowza. This story completely caught me off guard. I went into it expecting another rich, billionaire knockoff of 50 Shades or Bared to You. But what I got was something completely different. Yes there were some clumsy female moments and domineering hero clichés... but it was all done so right.

Chloe is a 20 year old woman who's had a rough life. Her family isn't her favorite subject, and she's hiding pain from an incident that happened in high school. She takes an intern job for a company to further her law studies. She just wants to succeed and make it through the day. This is where she meets Ethan Frost, the owner of the company she works for.

Ethan Frost is a self made millionaire who started the company from the ground up. He's gorgeous, smart, funny and super charming. When these two meet, its not in the most flattering of ways... but Ethan sees something in Chloe and the pursuing begins. I was astounded by the chemistry these two had. I felt it and loooved how Ethan treated Chloe from the beginning.

Then of course, things start falling apart. Chloe explains her past and Ethan is so understanding. But when Ethan starts acting distant Chloe doesn't know what to do. And the ending... I was shocked. This leaves you hanging. Not so much with the relationship between Ethan and Chloe, but with a blast from Chloe's unfortunate past. I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait for the next one to come out.

4 BROKEN, I-NEED-MORE STARS!!

After reading some crap books I decided to start this book in hopes that it would bring me out of the book funk.I see some good reviews and now I know why. When I see Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, Bared to You, and Release Me will be hooked.. I am like damn I need to read that book as I loved them books! It made me thing that this book would contain a broken alpha male who finds a women who accepts him in all his brokenness and so on..Yeah this book wasn't like that. There wasn't BDSM involved and Ethan wasn't really controlling a it was much more softer and sweeter.

Ruined is book 1 of the Ethan Frost series by Tracy Wolff, this is the first book I have read by this author and I want more.I loved the chemistry between Ethan and Chloe, the way they teased each other and the banter was awesome, made me laugh especially the smoothie scene.

His hands come up to cup my face, to tilt my head this way and that so he can delve deeper. So I can welcome him wholly inside me. And I do. For these few, stolen moments out of time, I welcome everything he can give me.

Chloe is broken and fragile even though she puts up a good front, after having a rough past she is still trying to get her life back on track.trying to be in control, trying to be normal again, but lets face it she was never normal, not after what she faced and she may never be normal.

First day of her summer internship at Frost Industries and this is what she has always wanted, to be here. Strong independent and trying to get herself through school. She has a plan and she is in control.Things don't seem to go as planned when Ethan Frost sets his eyes on her.He sees more then she wants him to and he is determined to have her.
Chloe has never felt like this before, she is confused and scared as much as she wants to push Ethan away and have him out of her life, she can't.He feels safe, he makes everything better.

In that one, perfect moment, I want more. I want everything. Everything I’ve denied myself since I was fifteen years old. Everything I’ve told myself I don’t want and shouldn’t have.

Ethan..Oh Ethan! He is awesome I loved how he was different, he didn't come across as a cold, serious or impatient.I loved how he treated her as someone precious, he was gentle and wanted to be there for her.He could tell that she had been through some tough times but didn't know much else, yet he wanted to help. His touch healed her, mended some of the cracks in her heart.

You see that he has demons of his own yet all the secrets haven't been revealed, there is much more to the story which I am dying to find out about. The ending..omg cliffhanger! I knew if would be a cliffhanger but I saw hot alpha male and was like cliffhanger what? I will read this book and I will complain when I finish because I have to wait until the next book *sniffs* I knew it I knew it! I was somewhat shocked and then at the back of my mind I knew something like this would happen!

You think its going to be all happy and lovely and then boom! everything changes..

Oh book 2 when can I have you?

!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the ending????

*I received a copy of this book from the Publisher Via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

You can see the following review also here: http://loveandlivetoread.wordpress.co...

OMG! OMG! What was that?? I love it when a book is better than what I was expecting to be! When I requested via NetGalley, I thought that I would read just another romance to pass my time. What I got? A great contemporary romance with one the most suspenseful cliffhangers ever!!!!

The plot seems typical bad it’s not. Chloe is good girl with a traumatized past is trying to find her place in the world and she’s working hard to be accepted as an intern at a very famous company. And there is Ethan, the big boss who is mysterious, sexy and larger than life. And it happens to want her bad since the first time he saw her. They managed to start a romantic relationship but Chloe’s past hides more secrets than Ethan can imagine.

I liked Chloe from the beginning. She’s a fighter and a survivor. She knows what she wants and she’s working hard to succeed. It wasn’t easy for her to continue her life after everything that happened to her so early in her life but she did her best in order to be far away from all her bad memories. I understand why she’s so afraid to feel and to trust someone and I was sad to see her trying so hard to accept her feelings.

Ethan was amazing from the very beginning. An alpha male all the way in order to win Chloe’s heart. He did all the right moves and he said all the right things. He is a man worthy of her love but after that ending I believe that he will have a difficult road to walk.

I absolutely loved this book but after that ending, I have a big problem: I want the second one right now!!!!!!!!

Of course, I recommend this book to all the fans of this genre! Definitely a great read!

3 Ethan Frost Stars

I wanted to like Ruined, I really did, but there was just something that was just a TAD bit off for me.

Simple Summary - > Intern gets sassy with a co-worker, only that she doesn’t know it’s Ethan, the owner of the very company she’s working for. He finds her attractive and thus pursues her.

The summary is pretty standard and cute. I liked how sassy Chloe was originally to Ethan. I love it when the Heroine pushes the Hero away, as the Hero actively pursues Ethan. Ethan is charming, sweet and very generous.

That’s about sums what I enjoyed. Here is what I had issues with.

I had issues with the writing style.

OH my god, could there be any more descriptive writing!

I was reading, pages and pages and PAGES of just descriptive writing. I was to the point where I wanted to scream and say… “CHLOE I DO NOT FUCKING CARE WHAT YOU THINK!!!!!”. Just give me dialogue please! I skimmed.

I had issues with Chloe.

She’s is the most wish-washy Heroine EVER. She pushes Ethan away because she can’t date the boss, which I get and kind of like, but then she gets kind of upsets when he doesn’t really respond to her. WHAT?! He gives you gifts and you return it, not just once but two times? I get the first time you did it, it’s pretty funny, but the second time? It didn’t make sense.

I had issues with the flow and execution.

The progression of the story is VERY SLOW. The steam is minimal and when you finally get to it, I was so frustrated with the relationship I just couldn’t enjoy it as much as I originally did in the beginning. There were many times I wanted to put a DNF, but I wanted to see it through.

You get to the climatic ending and I was just kind of questioning it all. It was really rushed and kind of came out of nowhere. I was scratching my head and then the climatic ending lead to the very obvious cliffy. There’s an OPEN CLIFFY and you are like. Oh man.

I will continue because of the cliffy, but if book 2, pulls the same issues, it may be a DNF for me.

Some things I look forward to in book 2, I HOPE Chloe doesn’t act stupid as she did in Ruined and actually tries to be sensible. I want it to be a Ethan and Chloe verse the issue kind of read, not Chloe running away like a chicken with her head cut off and Ethan chases her for no reason because honestly what does Chloe bring to the table?

Give me more steam, and some kinky steam too.

Edit and stop of the internal dialogue, I don’t care what you are thinking, just talk it out.

Overall, a very decent attempt on Wolff’s part.

4 - 'I Can't Believe She Did That' Stars!!

I have read quite a few of Tracy Wolff's books over the last couple of months, and while having the potential to be absolutely brilliant, they have all for some reason or another just fallen short of the mark. I am glad that I have stuck with her though as with Ruined she absolutely restored my faith in her exceptional talent for telling a story.

I have no issues this time, the writing, the characters, and the overall story grabbed me from the get-go and pretty much kept hold of me right the way through.

Ethan Frost, is perfectly epitomises the rich, hot, eligible bachelor that I and many others love to read about. He has a sweet side, definitely likes to dominate in most things, but knows when to back down. He is also a little messed up, and has more than a few secrets, he doesn't really want to share.

Chloe is your usual inexperienced, hurt in the past and treated badly by her family, struggling for her Independence twenty-something....But I didn't mind, it worked, the story worked and although all of the above have been written a million times over, some good, most bad. Ruined, for me is definitely one of the good ones.

I loved Blender-gate, and the little inconsequential gifts they gave each other. The story in itself is a little different, and I have said this before, but I am happy to repeat it again Ms. Wolff is one of the best sex scene writers I have come across in a while. My Kindle sizzled, and I think the way they were written were doubly good in view of the past issues that Chloe is battling.

The Prize for "Best First Chapter" also goes to Tracy, as I absolutely loved it, and although I figured out what was going on, the verbal sparring and the way the scene was set, just made it absolute perfection.

What stopped this being a 5 star read for me....The last 10% of the book, in particular the Epilogue. I still can't make my mind up as to whether it is a supreme act of genius, or just seriously f**ked up. Kudos to the author though as I am dying to read book two, to see which path Ethan and Chloe's story will take!!

This is to date without doubt the best book I have ever read by Tracy Wolff, I am so glad I stuck with her, and I am on pins waiting for whatever she releases next.

Actual rating: 1.5 stars.

Overall, I can't say I enjoyed this book, and the audiobook had a big role helping with that.
The whole mood that the narrator imbued through her voice, pace and tone was too depressing right from the beginning. I couldn't arise feelings of excitement towards the story or characters since everything felt too tragic, too sad, too heavy and big.
Added to that, the female MC sounded way too emo and the male MC (a multimillionaire CEO) sounded too childish for my taste. Basically, they sounded more like dramatic teenagers than actual adults to my ears, which also put me off.

That constant sense of forlornness coupled with that teen undertone was unnecessary to the plot, very detrimental to the overall enjoyment of the book and way too heavy to bear for such a poor story.
However, I can't not say if I would have given a better rating had I read the book instead of listening to the audiobook. The story just feels weak and even silly at times, while at others it seems pretty well done. The mood and atmosphere created by the audio narration gave the characters and story such a specific vibe and personality that I am having trouble separating that from the actual plot in order to objectively see it critically. Thus, I can't really say for sure.

Nevertheless, I am still a little bit interesting in seeing where it goes since there are such good reviews about this series, so I am going to move on to the next installment and see if it gets better for me.

My Rating: ★★★½
GOOD: The characteristics of a 3 star book include: interesting characters, a decent storyline, and unique story elements; there was something about the story that I didn’t completely connect with; the book is a solid read. I would recommend it to a friend.
A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

My Thoughts:
Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, the Crossfire series, and the Blackstone Affair will feel at home while reading Ruined because there are very familiar traces of those stories here. Ruined pairs a damaged billionaire with a naïve but ambitious college student in a somewhat sweet but very redundant redux of the aforementioned stories.

In Ruined we meet Chloe and Ethan and their whirlwind Affair begins in an inauspicious manner over smoothies. Yes...smoothies. It was a cute little of battle of wills between them and the battle over the Vitamix gave me quite a nice little chuckle. Ethan was sweet, charming, and every bit as demanding as the other alpha males in the like stories. Chloe is sweet in her own way and more than a little damaged. I was fairly neutral about her character because there were things about her that just didn't work for me. Take the booth scene in the cafeteria. She sent him an email telling him that she wasn't going out with him that evening and with firm instructions for him never to call her again. He turns up in the cafeteria with her a few hours later and she's sucking on his fingers and humping on him like a dog in heat. And then Ethan, he goes out of his way to get her to trust him only to do what he did to Chloe and the end of the book. Honestly, there were points in the story when I wanted to smack them both...HARD. They had great physical chemistry but they felt emotionally disconnected--to me. Chloe's declaration of love felt dispassionate and there was absolutely no corresponding reply from Ethan.

And let's get to the Epilogue. Well, let's actually start at chapter twenty-seven because that's where things started to unravel for me. At a couple of points in the story, there are glimmers of darkness within Ethan. We don't know why of where they come from because no hints are provided throughout a story that mostly focuses on Chloe. Then, chapter twenty-seven and WHAM! we see a whole different side to Ethan. His actions felt nonsensical as he took Chloe and the readers on a rollercoaster ride to figure out the "why" of it all. Even after things "settled" in chapter twenty-eight, I still had no clue why he did what he did but he and Chloe seemed to be managing after he offered her a sorta/kinda explanation for his actions. But the Epilogue. WHY?!? That "surprise" felt too contrived to connect Ethan and Chloe and to thicken the plot.

Ruined wasn't a bad story and there were a few sweet and enjoyable moments. But, if you have read the other stories mentioned earlier, this story felt too similar to truly stand head and shoulders above them...at least in this first book. I'm sure what Wolff has on tap for the rest of the series but I hope that there is a divergence of sorts and her series is able to shine in the uniqueness category.

I knew going into this book that this was going to be another New Adult/Contemporary read that was somewhat similar to most of what was published in 2013. And, I’m sad to say it was very similar, but even with that, I really enjoyed the characters and their story.

description

First, what I didn’t like…

Chloe was kind of hard for me to pin down. At times she seemed to be a very strong, independent woman (The smoothie scene, dealing with the other interns), but then other times she just seemed to fall apart (the stairwell scene, surfing scene). Granted, she did have a troubled past, but it seemed as if the writer struggled with how to show the deeper issues that Chloe had.

I’m also not a huge fan of insta-love. I’ve read few stories where insta-love worked, and this wasn’t one of them. The relationship seemed too rushed (2 weeks?), especially since Chloe had such an issue with intimacy prior to Ethan.

I also would have liked to get to know Ethan more. We only got a glimpse into his life, prior to his relationship with Chloe.

description

What I did like...
Ethan!
I’m always a sucker for a romantic, sweet alpha male…and Ethan did not disappoint.
His banter with Chloe was great, he small gifts he shared with her were thoughtful and sweet, and he generally seemed sincere with his affections towards Chloe right from the beginning.

The ending was spot-on too. I generally do not care for cliffhangers, but the way this one was done, when you knew there was more to the story about why Ethan suddenly , I didn’t see the twist coming. And it was a great twist!

description

So, I’m happy to say that for me, this was a 4 star read and I’m excited about the next book. I love drama, and I have a feeling the next book will not disappoint.

Here’s my casting for Ethan…

I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked right from the beginning.

The story is told from Chloe's POV. Chloe has just started her summer intern at Frost Industries. On her first day she gets into a heated debate with a guy over a smoothie. Its only once she get home that Chloe discovers the smoothie guy is Ethan Frost CEO at Frost Industries. Chloe as some secrets from her past that she believes she is ruined for having any future relationships. I loved Ethan Frost from the beginning. Ethan is seriously hot alpha male that is very thoughtful and knows all the right things to say to Chloe.

Chloe and Ethan have a very strong connection both emotionally and sexually. I have say the author certainly knows how to write some seriously hot kissing scenes. There was also some great banter between the two of them especially around a smoothie blender.

In the synopsis it compare the book to fifty shades but there are no elements of BDSM in the book. The only comparison is that Ethan like Christian is CEO of his own company.

The book really pick up towards the end and there are a few twists and turns. Towards the end of book you think Chloe and Ethan are getting their HEA and then you get the epilogue which has a big reveal at the end which is so frustrating because we now have to wait for book 2 to see how this big reveal plays out.

Overall I really great romance read and I hope its not too long before book 2 is released.

Chloe snagged a prestigious legal internship. Her first day, she unknowingly runs into the CEO, Ethan Frost. They are fighting the attraction and the ethical issues a relationship could raise. Also, they both are harboring a secret.

Unpopular opinion time. Womp womp.

The book had an interesting beginning. It wasn’t new, but I still liked it. What I didn’t like was the stagnation. The story didn’t go anywhere. There was no momentum. It became boring

Then Chloe constantly telling Ethan “stop talking to me,” “Don’t give me special treatment,” “leave me alone.” But she’s the one seeking him out to tell him those things. She kept going to his office-

There’s also the childish office stuff, and the secret at the end. I wanted to like it, but I need more movement in my stories.

Wow so why am I just finding this book? Chloe is an intern at her dream company. She accidentally snags the attention of The CEO Ethan Frost. When Ethan sets his sights on something he doesn’t quit until he has it. Chloe has avoided relationships after the disastrous and traumatic end to her last relationship 5 years ago. She’s still healing from the wounds inflicted on her by the kids she went to high school with but Ethan has a way of breaking down her walls.

This was so good, and I can hardly stand to take the time to write this review when all I want to do is start the next book.

Ethan was pretty perfect in this book and I can’t wait to see how he tries to fix things in the next book. He is a fixer... which incidentally is what has just caused a major problem between him and Chloe if I’m understanding this right.

Alright, sorry not much of a review. I’ve got to get to the next book. I can’t stand it.

The narration was a little weird. I had to speed it up because she spoke so slow. It sounded like she was new to narrating maybe. She paused at weird spots in the middle of sentences and sometimes she overacted when she was speaking as Chloe’s roommate sometimes. But I thought she had a nice soothing voice and I thought she did a great job for the male voices which obviously is not easy to do. Hopefully as the series goes on she gets better, it sounded like she just needed practice.

"Ruined" by Tracy Wolff was an incredible read and after days of pondering how to right this review I am still not sure if i will do it justice ,but here it goes!

The writing was great,I was drawn to the characters and they came to life for me, I was drawn into there stories and felt for each one of them Chloe and Ethan's story so far has left me ruined, wondering when the next book will be available.

Chloe Girard is young college student excited to start her first day at Frost Industries in their legal department as an intern , this is her dream position and her dream company. Frost industries is foremost in biomedical market place and one of the greenest companies and, employee friendly .Chloe dresses to impress nice suit and a pair of sky high Louis Vittons ( a gift from her roommate) and she s now paying for it , her feet are killing her after having the grand tour of the complex and now all she wants is a smoothie for lunch but the smoothie guy is arguing with her, after some pretty funny banter back and forth and posturing , with the cute surfer guy with the intense blue eyes. She finally gets her smoothie and gets back to work. Later when she gets back home package is waiting for her a smoothie machine and fresh organic strawberries along with a card, on it a hand written phone number and Ethan Frost name on the card. A stunned Chloe starts putting two and two together that the surfer guy behind the smoothie counter was none other than the CEO of Frost industries and she argued ith him on her first day.

Chloe as an intern can not accept a gift of a smoothie maker , never mind it is from the ceo is only worse so determined to return it she brings it to work and Ethan's offices the next day which leads to another confrantation , an injury, and a very sexually charged scene between Ethan and Chloe in the securty office,to add more stress to her second day she is the late to a meeting , and ushered in by Ethan which just sets her up as a target with the other interns. Chloe is determined to be a success on her own two feet , stay away from Ethan but each encounter with him breaks her resolve down ; it Chloe's past makes it hard for her to trust to feel safe but Ethan is strong charming and commanding enough to break down her walls and provide that feeling of security , till his trip to the east coast for business ,he talks and texts her all along, but suddenly stops, she chalks it up to meetings etc... But when he does not show for their pre-scheduled date she worries even more and goes to his house; she finds Ethan beaten and pushing her away.Chloe's world is falling down around her again.

Cliff hanger ending that rips your heart out, it's like a freight train, you see it coming , you know were it is going, you know it is not going to be good and it is a game changer but you can not get out of the way, you can not put this book down,it runs you over and leaves you Ruined and waiting!

4 "I wanted More" Stars

Initially billed as a book similar to FSOG I was intrigued. Ethan Frost is the sexy alpha male, self made millionaire or maybe almost billionaire. He becomes intrigued with Chloe, a new intern, after the way she handles herself when getting a smoothie for lunch. Ethan is quick to pursue Chloe and is relentless in his pursuit. That is about where the similarities to FSOG ends.

Chloe, has a past which has left her scarred and afraid of pursuing relationships or intimacy with males. She is conflicted as Frost attempts to pursue her but she cannot deny the attraction and she eventually succombs to his efforts.

I initially loved Chloe. She was feisty and she made me laugh.

This is the only thing I've wanted to do since I found out being the Pink Power Ranger was not actually a viable career choice.

It's like they're both completely entranced by the drink, and I can't help thinking that maybe Frost Industries doesn't take their no-illegal-substance policy all that seriously.

But along the way, as she tries to open herself up to something with Ethan, she just gets to be a little too annoying to me. I get her issues and that she has been traumatized in the past but it just keeps coming up over and over and over.

Ethan, well, he is just wonderful. Seriously, I love them high power CEO types that are confident and stop at nothing to get what they want. But he was so sweet and kind. I loved all the ways he tried to woo Chloe. From his handling of her to his little and not so little presents, he was the best!!! Not to mention he is hot and he surfs!!!

But then we find out Ethan has his secrets and they cause him to mess up. His behavior at the end made me so angry. Then finally I get it, and I have to admit I never saw that coming. That twist I did not expect. That it came in the Epilogue was beyond frustrating. Uggh, cliffhangers. They get me every time. I love them/ I hate them. Wolff got me again.

WARNING CLIFFHANGER

Chloe Girard has spent the last five years building the life she wants and desperately trying to forget the past. She couldn’t be more excited when she lands her dream internship. On her first day she gets into a debate with a guy, not knowing it is Ethan Frost the CEO of the company she is interning for. This little show of will captures his attention and starts to relentlessly pursue Chloe.

Chloe knows Ethan is everything she should stay away from. Not only is he her boss but she is also too emotionally damaged to enter any kind of relationship. Ethan refuses to take no for an answer and works his way past Chloe’s walls and into her heart.

Just when you think they have worked everything out and they will get a HEA, information is found out that blows both of their worlds apart and we are left wondering if their relationship will be able to survive.

I liked Ruined and the story line, but there were a lot of issues that kept me from loving it. My biggest issues would probably be the writing style. I felt like the majority of the book was Chloe’s inner dialogue with little conversation between the heroine and hero. This made it difficult for me to fall in love with them as a couple because I didn’t get to see enough interaction between the two. This also caused me to become extremely annoyed with Chloe. She was so back and forth with what she wanted and how she felt that I felt I was getting whiplash. I ended up skimming a lot of Chloe’s inner dialogue because I felt like she kept repeating the same thing over and over.

It wasn’t until the last 10% of the book that I was really hooked into the story. I did not see that twist coming and was frantic to find out why Ethan was acting the way he was. I want to find out what happens between Chloe and Ethan, but I don’t know if it’s enough to read Addicted (book 2). I would probably be more inclined to read it if it is told in both POV’s instead of just Chloe’s.
