A Goddess of old goes in search of sacrifices in order to stay on the mortal plane for another year.
The plot was interesting, the execution of it okay, though I think it would've flowed better had it been longer than novella length, because I did kinda get tired of reading pretty much the same thing over and over again.
The Berserker chapter was my favourite, but I'm biased. Either way, that one felt fresh compared to all the others. I would give another book by this author a try in the future, and I happen to know exactly which one.
This was my first read by Izzy Ravas, and I really enjoyed it. Blot was a short novella that's perfect for spooky season. I really liked Izzy Ravas writing. I did wish that the book was longer. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Izzy Ravas!
Izzy Ravas did not disappoint. She promised gore, and boy, did she deliver.
The story is dark, twisted, and wickedly intriguing as it follows Hel on her night. I love the Norse mythology details, and there is just the right amount of spice.
This was my first read by Izzy and I was definitely impressed!
If you're looking for a short Halloween/spooky read, this is a good one! But just know that it's not going to be all sunshine and roses haha. It's dark, gory and twisted and cray cray!
I absolutely LOVE Hel and I could honestly read about her and her adventures for so much more! Her tactics are....wild....lol but she was my absolute favorite!!!
If you like the Norse Gods, and a little bit of horror, this is the book for you!
This book was such a fun read for me. It’s got horror aspects, but it’s also has interesting information on the Norse Gods. I really enjoyed how this book explained some of the lore of the Gods.
I really liked the whole vibe of this book, and I honestly would love for this to have been a longer book!
The concept for this book is awesome, but it fell a bit flat… maybe if it were longer and more in depth it wouldn’t have felt like it was missing something?
Love that our Lady Hel is unapologetic in her wants/needs and sacrifice choices were fantastic!
🌶️/5 The smut was completely unnecessary, and exceedingly rushed considering she had 4 partners in 1 night (and in 70ish pages)
4.5 stars This dark horror novella hit the right spots! I enjoyed the author's take on Norse mythology Hel is everything you'd expect from the goddess of death. Her deal with Odin is bloody well written Give this one a try - it's NOT romance but has some great spice !
Quick. Bloody. GORY AS HELL. All the things I love in a Izzy Ravas book🙂↕️
I loved that Hel was so determined to complete her tasks for Odin, and she was unapologetically herself through it all. She’s so dark and haunting as a person, and I was in awe the entire time of the power she possessed. The world was hers to take and she didn’t hold back ONE BIT😮💨
A fun quick novella! Hel is coming for nine men to make the sacrifice to live on this world another year. There was lots of blood and a good amount of spice sprinkled in between 🌶️
this book was so different! and so good! i’ve never read a book based on norse mythology and o absolutely DEVOURED IT. ATE. IT. UP. WHOLE. it’s a short little novella, so it’s a nice little quick read but when i tell yall it’s so beautifully written.
it has these amazing touches when regarding norse mythology, it gives you a glossary in the beginning so you’re not going in blind when it talks about certain words regarding norse myths.
it provides you that perfect mix of dark romance, erotic romance, erotic horror and gruesome gory details. it gives you that perfect smut based romance but doesn’t drag it but has a beautiful plot that just eats you away. i physically could not get enough of it.
rating 6/5 ⭐️ spice 4/5 🌶️
when this book drops you’re going to want to get it. i promise. it’s THAT good.
In order to continue her life on earth, the Norse Goddess Hel must collect 9 masculine souls in one night. She chooses some willing, others not willing. In some cases, Hel acts as salvation and vigilante, giving justice where it belongs. And it’s beautiful.
Without an intrigue to continue to read, this wasn’t a bad novella. Written in first person as a Goddess of death, Izzy’s words are chosen carefully to demonstrate the patience, selfish and royal thoughts behind the character’s actions. And it ends up being a little repetitive but highly creative.
Izzy’s torture tactics are sinister and twisted. My favourite being the use of the Blood Eagle.
It’s intelligently written as if the character has come alive on the pages. I’ll be reading more of Izzy’s work!
Just finished Blót by Izzy Ravas which is a Norse Erotic Horror releasing on Halloween!
If you’re into Norse mythology, Paganism, Horror, spice and dominant goddesses, then definitely pick this one up on Halloween.
I loved that the FMC was the dominant one in this book and was also a goddess bad b*tch. Check the trigger warnings because this is pretty dark with lots of bloodshed. Thank you Izzy for also providing a glossary at the front of the book. I love when books have these and it’s super helpful.
This is a short and enjoyable read that was great for me between larger books and I highly recommend.
Oh…my…GOSH! This was my FIRST ever erotic horror read and I am hooked. I have read horror books but they didn’t satisfy me. This read had me sitting on the edge of my seat and wanting more. I love how we got a piece of story for each sacrifice and learned more about the Goddess of Death in each chapter. This was such a thrilling read and one I suggest IF you are comfortable with the Content Warnings (for real…..they are intense)
And thank you for the glossary! Seriously, I have read mythology books that didn’t have the glossary and it was a cluster.
Thank you Izzy for allowing me to read this book before it goes live. Keep up the amazing work 🖤
Mini-Review: This is a creative and bloody variation on the Old Norse viking tale of Álfablót where Hel works to complete her end of a bargain with Odin, so that she can have another year in the earthly realm as a beautiful woman instead of in he11 taking care of souls. Situated in modern times, this twisted horror story has an unhinged goddess, graphic sacrificial rituals and erotic horror. I liked the method Hel uses to choose her victims and learning more about this myth. If you’re looking for a horror read for the season, this novella might be the one for you. Please heed CW. You’re mental health is important.
Izzy Ravas continues to create incredibly unique, enjoyable stories with fabulous plot and intense characters. Blot is no exception. This dark horror novella hits all the marks and is a perfect anytime spooky read. This is not a romance, although there are some thoughtful sexy moments. This is definitely a gory, twisted, intense, wild ride. I really enjoy a dominant powerful FMC and boy oh boy do we get one here. Hel, the goddess of death, is magnificent and I would love to continue reading more. This is a story like I’ve never read before and I really enjoyed it. Blot is a quick easy, bloody, thought provoking horror read that I definitely recommend.
This short story is an erotic horror, so don’t expect romance or a HEA. This wasn’t my fave story by this author, but I do love her writing! If I understand correctly, this is a twisted take on a Norse holiday or tradition similar to Halloween.
Hel, the Goddess of Death, made a deal with Odin to sacrifice souls in his remembrance so that she could walk the human realm. 9 souls for one year on earth. She picks ones that are “worthy” of sacrifice for various reasons. Some lives end first, others end after a spicy romp. It’s bloody, creepy, sacrificial and gory. As I said it’s erotic horror, so be prepared if you dive in!
This short novella is unlike anything I ever read, and I loved that. It focuses on Norse Gods and Goddesses, in particular Hel, the Goddess and Ruler of The Underworld.
She needs 9 human sacrifices to Sacrifice to Odin the Norse God. She has only a few hours to complete this ritual within the forest.
What follows is a story about her journey to secure another Year in the human realm.
The story worked really well and I read it in one sitting.
Another masterpiece by Izzy Ravas! This Novella was everything you could possibly want in a Erotic Horror!
Hel, a Norse Goddess, needs to complete nine sacrifices to Odin to buy another year of freedom. I very much enjoy watching her selection process and how she responded to each and every one. How she reigned and blasted empowerment.
This was bloody, spicy, and a real pager turner. My only complaint....gimme more!
This book delves into Norse mythology, offering exactly what the title suggests: a horror story brimming with blood and a touch of spice. The plot revolves around nine sacrifices required to secure another year of freedom. Odin is the one who makes the deal for her to remain on Earth for the year, but she must complete the nine sacrifices. Hel, the goddess and main female character, is truly remarkable. For a short novella, Izzy has done an outstanding job; it was incredibly enjoyable.
Okay let’s be real. HEL is a freaking fierce goddess and the way I need to dive deep into Norse mythology purely for the fact of a female grim reaper??! SOLD SOLD SOLD. This novella was not romantic in the slightest way but there was something seriously beautiful about her methods, her mind, and her own wants. A little female rage, some splatter here and there, spicy yum yum (sorta🙃), and grim. High recommendation
"Faith and devotion to the Gods was the way of life. How it should be."
For such a short novella, this one really packs a lot into it. This modern take on Hel is not one you will want to miss especially if you have an interest or knowledge of Norse practices/mythology. Izzy's writing throughout this was absolutely beautiful. My only issue was that it was not longer. I didn't want it to end.
This was a short, and bloody read! I really enjoyed the Norse lore Izzy mixed in this plot. It was really interesting to see how an ancient religion and Goddess celebrated Halloween. I thought the horror aspect of it made it seem like a movie while I was reading. This is definitely a great spooky season read!
If Izzy writes it, I'm eating it up. Every single time! I love the fact that I can always count on Izzy to bring folklore and mythology to life and deliver it in such a delicious way. We love a badass fearless goddess. I learn things I never knew and get to scratch that dark itch in my brain. Blót was fantastic.
Short sweet dark and delicious and just some of the words to describe this novella. This is the perfect spooky season read. This book has gore, death, blood and spice.
Blòt is a take on Norse mythology with Hel goddess of death who has made a pack with Odin in order to stay in the human realm for another year.
