As was the case with the first book in the series, this book had a good plot but some serious writing issues. First, there was some repetition, in fact, there was even a page where I read the exact same sentence twice within the space of a few paragraphs. Then, there's some problems with names: a side character who was named Roman in the first book in the series is named Roan in this book; Christian's adoptive parents were given two different sets of names; and when Gary is apologizing for having attacked Dominic, he mentions having attacked Levi as well, and I don't remember any character named Levi in the first book.
Anyhow, I did like how neither character came across as too formal or stilted at any point in the story and how the language felt normal rather than sounding pompous due to the author trying to make it seem elegant.
Consider this a massive failed 5 stars. The whole premise of the book was together the two protagonists would win together, yet throughout the book they entered every battle alone. Why was never explained. Enigmatic powerful figures alluding to much while saying nothing. It's a good tale with much potential, worthy of a rewrite. It feels like a diamond given to a inept polisher with potential but no patience. Worth the buy as it was a diamond that you would love to have edited.
Ken has done an amazing job with the contuing escapades of this dynamic group of characters. The stories are flowing like a mighty river. With vivid details the stories are alive for me and have me anxious for more
