A modern day retelling of West Side Story and Romeo & Juliet, what happens when two members of rival syndicates have a chance meeting and sparks fly? Well, if you’re tattoo artist Cross and his new muse, Genevieve, you try to stay away from each other — and when that doesn’t work, you hope love will be enough to overcome tragedy… and betrayal.
Cross and Genevieve's story // full description coming soon!
I love this story so much! I've read every book in the series, and while Lincoln's book is my favorite, this is a close second. The story really pulls you in. These characters go through so much together, and the emotions jump off the page and grab you by the throat. Their love is so impossible, but so real. Cross would do anything to keep his butterfly safe. He loves her so fiercely, and I wanted to kill Damien for his role and keeping them apart. I did enjoy seeing Damien's relationship with his sister up close, and I love how Savannah went to bat for her time and time again!
I really need Haven's story!!!
* Grammatically, the text was clean, but there were so many mistakes where the wrong word was used in a sentence that it was truly distracting. I usually don't comment on errors, but a wrong word was used at least once on almost every other page. That may cause some readers to put the book down and walk away. I'm wondering if the author uses her phone to compose since these are the kind of mistakes AutoCorrect leads you to make.
THAT SAID, the book is worth pushing through those mistakes!!! However, if you're the kind of person who's going to leave a one or two star review because of those kinds of mistakes, just move right along.
Was looking forward to this book as I enjoyed the series but it feels rushed and has a lot of small but obvious errors that should have been caught in editing. I still read the whole thing though and plan to read the next one when it comes out too. Hoping they take a little more care with the next one.
No. Just no. Really wish tik tok never convinced me to read this series because it just keeps getting worse. I was mildly entertained but there were so many grammatical errors and plot holes that it’s not worth it
Far too wordy. There are pages and pages of monologues, far too many and often telling us the same thing! How many times do we need to hear that his family died in a fire? I know it’s important to his story but it’s regurgitated ad nauseam.
Multiple spelling mistakes litter this book further compounding this making it a difficult read. Not a good addition to the series.
Dance with the Devil by Carin Hart is a guilty pleasure wrapped in weak prose. The writing lacks polish and often feels clichéd, with dialogue that veers into cringe-worthy territory. Still, there’s something undeniably magnetic about the romances. The powerful, obsessive men and the intense devotion they show to their women will hook fans of over-the-top love stories. It’s cheesy at best, but if you’re in the mood for drama and devotion without worrying too much about literary quality, it might scratch that itch.
Dance with the Devil is the fourth book in the Deal with the Devil Series. This book follows Genevieve Libellula the sheltered mafia princess who's brother Damien has done everything in his power to shelter from the lifestyle. What does someone who is used to being caged often do? Sneak out. One night when Genevieve leave the house unnoticed she goes dancing at The Playground which was once her brother's rival's turf. Now that they have a truce, she attempts to go dancing unnoticed. As she's dancing she catches the eye of Cross da Silva, the official tattooist for the Sinners. He can't keep his eyes off her and she can't seem to stay away. Who doesn't love a little forbidden romance. However, Cross has told Genevieve he just wants to be "friends." No matter what kind of relationship she gets out of him Genevieve will work her hardest to get past his cool exterior. However, when they both get kidnapped by another gang leader, Genevieve learns just how far Cross will go to protect what is his.
I was really excited to see how Genevieve's story was going to play out. We get just a glimpse of her during Damien's story and I could not wait to see what she was going to do. This book touches on trauma so please check trigger warnings before reading. Cross was everything I wanted in a book boyfriend and more, giving off all the touch her and die vibes. I can't wait to see what is next in this series!!
Dance With The Devil by Carin Hart is fourth book in the Deal With The Devil. I clearly have devoured this entire series these past few days and Dance With The Devil is no exception. These two characters were introduced in previous books and I absolutely loved their story. Similar to the other books in this series, this is a DARK romance so please check the trigger warnings. This was spice, dark, and romantic. I loved everything about this story and characters. This storyline was well paced and kept my attention the entire time.
Genevieve was a sweet, intelligent, confident, and stubborn FMC. I loved her character since we met her in book 3 (Dragonfly). Reading her POV and her story made me admire her character even more. Genevieve is a ballerina and a mafia princess. Watching her capture the heart of the Sinner’s tattoo artist, Cross, was sooo enjoyable. Cross was such a sweetheart and his past broke my heart. The things this man does for his butterfly (Genevieve) made me absolutely love him. Genevieve and Cross had a West Side Story vibe due to them both being affiliated to different mafia/organized crime families. They complimented each other so well and I loved how they brought the best out in one another. They were both supportive of one another. This series is so amazing and I can’t wait for the final book to come out in February!!!!
Loved Cross and Gen they are the meaning for love at first sight. The muse to the artist is perfect description of them but of course they are from different side of town and not suppose to be together as if that will stop them. The friendship that make at first is what i loved more that connection between them. And after they get kidnapped they form a bond that they could only understand. Even under the circumstances he does everything in his power to make sure he isnt hurt in the process is the sweetest thing. I didn't like after they were rescued i felt like alot of the same stuff was begin repeated like setting the tone of the book again, maybe cuz i read the other books so i knew their story and the whole winter plot like what exactly happened to him i feel there should have been a end to his stoey but other then that i loved the book
so this is book 4 in the series and follows Genevieve The mafia Princess ( Damiens Sister) and Cross( Carlos Da Silva) and it's a forbidden romance!! it was everything I have really enjoyed this whole series and this book was so good its in my opinion the heaviest book so far it has a darker storyline then the other 3 book but it was SOO good! I loved seeing Genevieve really become who she wanted and her taking control of her life and seeing her strength and reslent after everything both her and Cross was put through!Cross(Carlos) story had me sobbing this poor man the things he was put through has a child were heartbreaking😭 Now he is extremely hot and I was absolutely OBSESSED with him! I absolutely recommend this book!!
This is an excellent addition to the Springfield series( I call it that.It is actually Deal with the Devil series) This book combined the Sinners and Dragonflies and continues the mystery of who is out to get both of the syndicates. It is higher in angst than the other books, delving into Cross's abuse by his stepfather and the general tragedy of his childhood. It gets intense and you get to see Cross the Mafia guy as well as Cross the sensitive tattoo artist.Very good book.
The mafia princess (she hates that title) finds someone who can love her from the Devils. Not who or what you would expect, but as both are artists, it makes sense. Genevieve is spoiled but restricted for security reasons, which turn out to be needed, but she can still take risks for selfish desires. Difficult to see really happening, but makes the story. Enjoyed
I’ll be honest, I didn’t really like this book. I thought I liked the other ones enough that I put a reminder when this one was released but I almost DNF’d this book more than once. There are a lot of spelling and grammatical errors. I didn’t like how there was SO much inner monologue. I don’t think I’ll read the next book.
Loved loved loved it! I love a strong independent fmc and Genevive was it! She fell for Cross, and did everything she could to stay close to him. And Cross! That man was fierce and protective, the things he did to protect her, even though it brought back his trauma 😢 I loved him, such a good story! Can't wait for the next!
uh damn that just jumps into it. a little dark and off but what random KU book isn’t. also i wanted to be one of only 23 reviews currently left on this lol. i do like this series but its more so that i picture it in my head better than it is written however i do appreciate the stories. also the estimated time to read was 8 hrs and i read it in 4. so that’s fun
I was so excited to read this one after absolutely loving the previous installment of this series. While it definitely was not what I expected, it was still fulfilling to see Cross grapple with his values and trauma to eventually accept his love for Genevieve and vice versa. Just wish it was a titch longer, but that's what reading the final installment is for!
So much Romeo and Juliet vibes with the tragedy ofcourse. I glad even though she was inexperienced she still had spunk. She fought for what she wanted, and protected with everything he had.
Title: Dance with the Devil Where I Read: Kindle Unlimited . The RayView: ✨✨✨✨.5 The HeatRay: 💥 How It Be Spicin’?: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ . “My muse and my secret weakness in one, I knew from that first dance that it would be far too easy to fell in love with her.” . CW: Please check full list of trigger warnings. Contains themes like schmurder, forced proximity, past child SA, and forced relations of MCs by villain. . Cross. Just. Cross. Oh man, that sensitive and dark artist waltzed into a novel all his own and stole the damn show. His story tugged at my heart and Gen’s and I don’t blame her one bit for reaching out to those strings to heal back into a new place all for her. My favorite of the series as of reading it! I am into book five already so we’ll see how that goes. 👀 I did have to dock half a star because of grammar. 😅 Unfortunately it pesters me when words are missing or spelled incorrectly too many times. Every once and awhile doesn’t bother me but this one felt a little rushed in the editing process for me.
i fear my frontal lobe is developing - did not enjoy this nearly as much as i thought i would, and the amount of trauma that cross endured did not feel necessary at all
Genevieve is the much younger sister of Damien, head of the Dragonflies, and is tired of being treated like she's ten and not twenty-five, so with the help of her best friend, she starts sneaking out to dance at the Playground on Sinner's territory. Here she meets Cross, the tattoo artist for the Sinners, and they start a friendship even though Gen wants more. For six weeks, these two continue to hang out, and Gen tries to have them go out every once in a while for 'dates.' That is, until the new rival gang in town takes them and holds them hostage in an attempt to make the Dragonflies and Sinner fight. So what happens when they get rescued, and Damien doesn't want Cross anywhere near his sister?
Genevieve and Cross get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.
Please check your triggers before diving into this book, as it gets pretty dark with what the two main characters go through or have gone through.
I loved how Genevieve just wanted to live her life, but I also don't think she knew how dangerous her brother's world was, and that was all on him. I wonder what Cross would have done differently if he had been able to get to his gun while they were fleeing, or if the outcome would have been the same. It will be interesting to see how the two groups work together to track down the Snowflakes and take them out, because I don't believe they are actually gone from this town.
Ok ok, so a Romeo and Juliet moment. I see you. But surely the whole kidnapping thing, which has now been done three previous times in the same series, is now dead. This felt a bit more sad and rough. MMC and his SA was raw, but the whole FMC losing her virginity on camera, that killed me a bit.
