Report cards regularly trumpeted Mary M. Cushnie-Mansour as a daydreamer. Teachers felt if she paid more attention in class, her marks would be better. Little did they know what was going on in her mind. From a young age, all Mary wanted to do was write, and write she did. Through elementary school, high school, and into her early 20's she wrote poetry, short stories, plays, and songs. For a time, though, Mary let life get in the way of her passion, and it wasn't until she was in her mid-thirties when she returned to university that the flame re-ignited. While studying Forms of Fantasy - J. R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings,: " Mary began writing again, pumping out poetry, children's stories, short stories, and the beginning seeds of what would become the "Night's Vampire Series." Mary also enjoys writing mysteries, and has penned the "Detective Toby Mysteries."
Mary loves John Grisham's books and has every one of them. She also reads authors like Ted Dekker, Sidney Sheldon, Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, Joy Fielding, John Saul, Nicholas Sparks, Sandra Brown,Jodi Picoult, and Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. These are just a few of the authors Mary reads on a regular basis, and usually, she writes a book review on each of the books she finishes.

In the 90s Mary wrote several children's stories and mysteries that were left sitting on the shelves for far too long. Mary is happy to announce that she dusted many of these stories off and has published nine bilingual children's books, several children's picture books, youth novels, and short story and poetry collections. Mary has also written a vampire series and a detective series.

In 1991, Mary registered a publishing company - Cavern of Dreams Publishing - through which she published not only her works but helped other writers realize their dreams. She collaborated closely with an editing and illustrating staff and in January 2017, Mary turned the company over to her Editor-in-Chief so she could spend more time with her personal writing.

Mary's motto in life is to pursue your dreams no matter what life throws at you - it is never too late to "become."

I just absolutely love the story line the author has made about Basarab and Dracula and their family!! If the entire book revolved around them and their history it would be very engrossing. Of course living in Brantford and being able to envision the settings is very cool. Virginia I can live without, it feels like she should be this strong, independent women and instead she comes across as weak and spiritless. Santan is a great character, so caring yet powerful and Samara I can see her as pure evil...but its very hard to imagine these babies advancements before they are even close to 1 year old. I'd like to see more of the children and Basarab. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens!!

Nights Children By Mary M.Curshnie Mansour
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have been loving this series so far for the local author here in brantford , I loved book two just as much as book one ! Night's Children continues Virginia's story, only now she is alone, with the exception of her son, Santan, whom she managed to escape with, thanks to a secret benefactor.

The storytelling is breathtaking, her characters--even the vampires--real and lovable.

I also just love how the setting of this book is located in areas and streets of brantford, I know , and it's just such a cool mix of fantasy based on the town I live in ! Gives brantford a cool twist when reading it ! I love how this series is also based on a real mansion here in town!

I love this local author, and I can't wait to continue this series , I will be taking a bit of break though from this series so I can start getting into my Christmas reads for a bit though ahaha

What does Virginia do now? She's escaped with her son and found a place to hide away - a secluded house. However, when she finds herself to be with child again, she writes to her benefactress begging for advise and help. Virginia knows Basarab will one day come for his son, but now there will be two children!
Should she feel safe? Even if Basarab is far away across the ocean dealing with family issues, Virginia knows he won't be there forever. She must make plans to get as far away from Brantford before it is too late. However, will far away be enough to keep him away from her door?

I reviewed Ms. Cushnie-Mansour’s first book in this series a little while ago and, while I was not blown away by this self-published author, I did enjoy the book enough to want to purchase the second instalment. The second book starts off exactly where the first one ended. Personally I like that since I do not have to spend too much time “catching up” through the ongoing text of the book. Virginia has escaped with her half human/half vampire son and goes into hiding from Count Basarab Musat and that is the point where the whole story falls apart for me. She goes into hiding within walking distance of his castle-like home in Brantford. Now, I may not be the sharpest pencil in the box but if I were hiding from a powerful all seeing, all knowing vampire, who I knew was intent on reclaiming the son I had stolen from him, I would scurry a little further than right under his nose. Let’s just say it was down hill from there.

This book could have done with a little tighter editing. The dream scenarios were extremely repetitive and seemed like page filler, and on a few occasions there were such glaring contradictions that they just jumped out at you from the pages.

Despite all this I have not given up on this series and will invest in the third instalment because it is just good enough to make me want to find out how it all turns out.

I'm so glad that when I finished Night's Gift, I had purchased Night's Children to continue on reading. As i mentioned in the Night's Gift, This should be made into a movie and produced right here in Brantford. The Castle is here and there is no need to make props.
From the moment I finished Night's Gift, I continued reading into Night's Children. Once again I was quickened with suspense as to what was going to happen to Virginia's life? As this new shift unfolded, I was drawn into more wonder as to what was going to happen to Virginia and her children. How is this going to unfold and end? What will happen to Virginia's life and where will she end up? New characters are introduced. What will Randy's final role be in virginia's life?
Now since i am finished this book, I thirst for the final trilogy.

Mary M. Cushine-Mansour has a way of writing with flow where the reader does not want to put the book down. The chapters in the book do not end, as they do in other books, they blend into the next scene / chapter and your are demanded to keep reading. Love these kind of books. Thank you Mary.

Virginia is finally free from "The house". During the day when the Vampires were sleeping she runs away with her son with the help of an unlikely friend. She knows deep down inside, her freedom is fleeting because one day the Count will return for his son and the second seed he planted within her on their last night together. First, however, the Count must return home to deal with his uncle who is trying to overthrow him. Can he stay focused long enough to take care of business or will thoughts of her ruin them all?
Once again, this book is well worth the read it continues the story seamlessly and brings you closer to the characters than you ever thought possible. This is a great sequel it does not disappoint and leaves you wanting more.
