What if every religion was…mostly right? What would the afterlife look like? Isaac Webb thinks everything is perfect. At first. Heaven is…exactly what it’s supposed to be. Paradise. Elysium. Free drinks, lodgings in the perfect style he’s always dreamed of, and even a view of the universe from his own window. But what lies behind this seeming perfection? Why are there guards, and places no one is allowed to enter? As Isaac investigates, he learns just how sinister Heaven can be…
Great world building. I enjoyed the concept of every religion being correct. Seeing how they might integrate together was fascinating.
I read mostly romance with guaranteed HEA’s so it is different for me to read about a character that isn’t 100% loveable. Isaac is more real than most of the MC’s in my usual books. He isn’t ultra-heroic. He is an ordinary guy handling a situation above his skill level.
CW: child abuse, child death I was glad that my sister read it before me so I could skip over a chapter.

A novel making novels novel again. Slater writes a digestible story that is in turn both serious and fun—it reads easy while being wildly original, no small feat. I want more of this sort of outside-the-box please!
