For the last few years, Beth and Ned have gone to the same Caribbean island to the same luxury spa hotel. But this year, home problems have somehow tagged along for the ride. Ned has been playing away—a bit of a drunken fling, that's all, Beth thinks. But although they have put it all behind them, Beth doesn't know that Ned's fling was with the female half of one of the couples they are vacationing with.

About the author

Judy Astley

Judy Astley started writing in 1990 following several years of working as a dressmaker, illustrator, painter and parent. Her sixteen novels, the most recent of which are Laying The Ghost and Other People¹s Husbands, are all published by Transworld/Black Swan. Judy¹s specialist areas, based on many years of hectic personal experience, are domestic disharmony and family chaos with a good mix of love-and-passion and plenty of humour thrown in. Judy has been a regular columnist on magazines and enjoys writing journalism pieces on just about any subject, usually from a fun viewpoint. She lives in London and Cornwall, loves plants, books, hot sunshine and rock music (all at once, preferably) and would happily claim that listening in to other people¹s conversations is both a top hobby and an absolute career-necessity

What sounded like a delightful and devilishly good plot only turned out to be quite tame and almost disapointing it wasn't delivered with enough flare or excitment. It came to a point where I almost didn't care what happened to the main character and her husbands relationship and while I knew I was supposed to be enthralled by the fact the mistress is on holiday with our leading lady and she didn't even know it, I just never quite got into it and was willing the book to end. I feel guilty saying this as I couldn't write anything myself and it was obviously popular this summer but I thought the book was flat, boring and lifeless when it was intending to evoke the opposite from its readers. Try this for yourself, you may like it but i wouldn't recommend it.

it's ok - if you have nothing else to read, read it. it contained at least 3 editing typos which really bugs me!

My review, age 12:

"This book started off looking really good, but I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. It was still semi-good though. The bit at the end about Gina’s elderly mother is kind of stupid, so that made me like it less."

A quick, easy but ultimately unsatisfying read. I am unsympathetic to the cookie-cutter characters.

A bit of escapism to a Caribbean island with a group of friends. Nice easy read to feel the sunshine

A good and easy to read book. I’m not going to act like it’s a high piece of literature, but it’s fun and trashy. It’s a bit of escapism! I’d recommend it if you like that sort of thing.

A typical fluffy, chick lit book but really funny and very entertaining. I zipped through this book in about a week and will definitely read more of Judy Astley's books as they are light and frothy but with enough plot and humour to fill the gap between 'heavier' books - either in number of pages or subject matter!

really enjoy Judy Astley's books, I like her style of writing, she writes about family life and the problems along the way. I appreciate her humour and honesty.
This one about a couple and their children's return holiday to the Caribbean with the same crowd of people.
Judy tells a good story and sets the scene well, always plenty of characters to amuse.
Recommended.

This is a good easy read but its ending is the best part, it has a proper ending that makes the book feel finished and not hanging. The middle body of the book is perhaps a bit weak in story line but it's still enjoyable. The characters are likeable and the teens are accurate to teenagers strops.

Fun, relaxing holiday read. I read it while nursing a tension headache and it successfully distracted me from the pain!

Great easy holiday reading! Didn't take much concentration and was a bit predictable, but like I said easy reading!

Not my favourite book from Judy Astley, but a reasonable light read.
