I have been writing historical fiction novels since I retired from the Insurance industry. I have a lifelong love of history and enjoy sharing my accumulated knowledge. I was born and raised in Colorado and Wyoming. I served in the US Navy. My wife and I have three grown daughters and two grandsons. I have published 6 novels. My most recent is a Western Mystery, Railway to Murder.
This riveting Revolutionary War for Independence full-length novel is presented in alternating chapters by the three main characters in a first-person narrative: Peter Smith, his wife Anne (Americans) and Nigel Crittenden (British), who has a personal vendetta against Peter for supposedly killing his father. This revolves around Peter who was a Naval hero and lost his arm, then leaves his pregnant wife and adopted family to continue the fight on land. His wife, once she had her daughter chooses to follow Peter from Boston, thru the mid-Atlantic states all the way to the Carolina(s) and Georgia with the help of his adopted father and other patriotic supports, unaware of the vindictiveness of the British officer out for revenge. Finding him, she tags along on the outskirts ultimately helping to save his life. A most engaging story with excellent character development that also delves into the descriptive landscapes and strategies amidst the battles that reel the reader into the time, place, and moment. For anyone who enjoys a historical intriguing novel about America's independence, this is highly recommended.
The follow-up novel to The Sins of Men is as interesting and exciting. Peter Smith is now on dry land and involved in the struggle for American independence, fighting for the continental army against the British. Three individuals are separated from each other and try to meet, each with a different agenda. This takes place against the backdrop of the local struggles occurring during the war. It is a well-told historical novel, informing me of what went on during that time, and telling a bit of that missing history that the big battles tend to push aside. Told from three different perspectives, it is an exciting and fast-moving tale. Very enjoyable, very informative, and very well researched.

However, their love for each other remains strong. This story has it all for female or male readers – a good read.
The author of The Sins of Men continues to display his gift for bringing American history to light with this gritty but very human story set during the Revolution. Told from three points of view—an American hero, a British officer bent on personal revenge, and a wife and mother struggling to keep her family together—it maintains an admirable balance between historical events and the details of daily life. Excellent research and sensitivity will keep the reader engrossed.
