Becoming an E.K isn't a choice for Serena - it's a necessity to survive. To destroy the Elementals she has to leave her old life behind. She has to train and follow a strict regime. But with time against her, she has only a few weeks to master the skills Kai spent his whole life perfecting.
The knowledge passed down from her ancestors is crucial to the Elementals' demise and the success of their mission. However, the path they must follow is lined with riddles, each more confusing than the next. It doesn't matter how close to succeeding they get, it's never enough. The Elementals are one step ahead at every revelation and that can only mean one thing - the E.Ks have a traitor among them.

'Deadly to Promise' is the second book in Hoddell's Elemental Killer series. Rea needs training to be allowed to work alongside the E.K.'s, and mysterious new character Tyler's motives are uncertain. Tensions are high as the story that started in 'Deadly to Love' continues.
The supernatural side of things in this series is original and is done really well. I enjoyed the storyline as much as I did in the first book and I look forward to seeing how it all ends. I liked how the plot developed and that there was a bit more uncovered about the Elementals. There is plenty of romantic drama alongside the supernatural danger and I can honestly say this side of things was unpredictable and surprised me quite a bit.
Okay, I need to admit something; these characters drive me crazy (In a good way, mostly)! I really like Rea and feel she is a well developed main character. I am still unsure about Kai as I don't feel like I've really seen his good side yet - I can see that he's occasionally sweet etc. but it is just so hard to see past his moodiness. I truly cannot stand Alanah and wished Rea would slap her basically every time she walked into a room! The thing is they all feel so real and as such they provoke such strong reactions from me. This is not something I often find in YA novels so I will definitely read more from this author. The characters kept me turning the pages at a rapid-fire pace, their interactions fuelling my interest.
Overall this is a an excellent continuation and will be enjoyed by fans of YA and Paranormal Romance books. Highly recommended!
Serena's life has been turned upside down due to her ancestry and a supernatural world being revealed. The E.Ks and Rea are on the hunt for a way to destroy the creatures for good but nothing is going right. As a new E.K is transferred to their group he starts to cause a rift between them and his motives aren't clear. It becomes obvious someone is leaking information to the Elementals and the divide only grows bigger.
After loving the first book in the series, I was slightly worried the sequel wouldn't live up to Deadly to Love. However, I think I enjoyed this book more than the first. There was more action with the E.Ks and I liked how Serena had to adapt. She had to become one of the E.Ks and because of this she gets into the heart of a lot more situations. Rather than sitting on the sidelines, she's involved in killing them and therefore is able to describe it better as Deadly to Promise is still written from her POV. There was also a lot more going on and I liked how the paranormal element evolved. There is more interaction with the Elementals which was great and I liked how Serena had to connect with them.
Overall, I really enjoyed this sequel and I'm keeping my eye out for the third book!
Once again, I liked the Elemental aspect and the action that built in this book. I was glad there was more development in the paranormal aspect and more information was revealed about the Elementals. I also liked how Serena's ability developed.
There were some really sweet moments that made me smile and I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel. I was glad I didn't have to wait long for it but with the way it ended, I want the third book now.
This was a great continuation. I liked how the Elementals became a bigger part of the story and the paranormal aspect became more prominent. I also liked how I could engage with the characters more in this book as they drew more emotions from me. Can't wait for book three to be released!
