I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Your Magical Life is a beautiful illustrated guidebook for children and YA about magic, self-love and positivity. The book is set out as a beginners guide and covers not just witchy things such as creating an alter, tarot reading, journaling, etc, but includes poetry and tools to boost happiness, confidence, raise self-esteem and daily rituals. This is a beautiful and gentle book that would make a lovely gift for any young witch/lover of magic.

”Small and simple magic that makes your day-to-day just a little bit brighter is valid”. Truly all that I’m looking for in my everyday life!

This is another fantastic beginner’s guide by Amanda Lovelace.

I had the privilege of reading Make Your Own Magic: A Beginner’s Guide to Self-Empowering Witchcraft earlier this year and it opened my eyes to a whole new world of daily rituals, self-love, and positivity. Throughout the course of what has ended up being a very tough year, I’ve fallen out of touch with the positive ideas and habits that the book put me onto. This new one was a nice reminder that came along precisely when I needed it most!

Like most of Lovelace’s books, this one contains inspiring poetry and lovely illustrations. Your Magical Life takes the ideas from Make Your Own Magic and further breaks them down into basics for beginners - creating a magical altar, tarot & oracle reading, and magical journaling. I think the two books make great companions to each other!

As always, Lovelace’s books are a joy to read and I’m grateful to have won a copy of this one in a giveaway ahead of its release. This is a fine resource for a young witch and one I’ll hold onto in the hopes that I someday meet one to share it with.

A disclaimer to start - I've been following the author since before her first poetry collection (tumblr was a time back then). While I haven't quite read everything they've written, I have read most of it (and I will read the rest at some point). I'm definitely biased, and I'll admit it.

Regardless, this gentle introduction to the basics of witchcraft is perfect for young witches (or soon-to-be witches). A witch's first steps into their craft can be intimidating and Lovelace is encouraging and reassuring throughout. The illustrations and poetry interspersed with instruction and spells add to the book's charm without taking away from the introductions to rituals, spells, tarot and oracle cards, and more.

All in all, a lovely and practical introduction to witchcraft for middle-graders.

Thank you to NetGalley and Running Press for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

A charming and practical guide for young witches

Amanda Lovelace’s book is a charming, practical, and enjoyable introduction and guide to the practice of witchcraft. Although written for a young audience, her refreshing prose and clear instructions are also enjoyable and informative for witches “of a certain age” like myself. I particularly liked her accessible introduction to tarot and interpretation guide for each card. I highly recommend this book for young witches and anyone interested in an accessible guide and introduction to spell casting, divination, and more.

I received a galley of this book from Running Press through a Shelf Awareness giveaway. While I thank both for the opportunity to read this delightful book, the opinions in this review are entirely my own.

A very cool and well done guide on becoming a young witch. This book will also be a great resource for any youth that find themselves curious about being a witch and what entails as this covers all the bases. While also being super pretty. Amanda Lovelace has nailed it again!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

It is a good overhaul of the basics for any beginner, I'm just simply past that stage so it wasn't as impactful or helpful for me personally. It is a good short read with some fun spells throughout though!
