Wander through 2025 with the RHS Garden Almanac – a seasonal guide to growing, harvesting and grounding yourself in nature. From the renowned Royal Horticultural Society, this glorious almanac is filled with practical tips and advice on what to do in your garden in each month of the year and how best to enjoy nature and the changing seasons. Packed full of ideas and projects, it is illustrated throughout with photographs, botanical illustrations and beautiful artworks from much-loved artist Angie Lewin. Each month includes tables of information about sunrise, sunset, moonrise and rainfall, as well as information on what needs doing in the garden, what challenges to expect and what plants and wildlife to look out for. There are also recipes that make the most of seasonal produce and a variety of different projects that can be done each month. Also scattered throughout the book are introductions to folk tales, festivals and garden history. A rich and charming guide to the seasons, this book provides tools, advice, inspiration and things to do for every month of the year. The perfect gift for gardeners and an invaluable way to help plan the year ahead.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), founded in 1804 as the Horticultural Society of London, gained its present name in a Royal Charter granted in 1861. The Royal Horticultural Society is one of the world’s leading horticultural organizations and the UK's leading gardening charity dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting gardening.
Vital to the protection of plants, gardens and green spaces for future generations, the RHS helps over two million school children get into gardening and supports more than 1,700 communities to create their own gardens, encouraging people to grow their own food.
The charity also promotes horticulture through world-renowned flowers shows such as the Chelsea Flower Show, the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the Tatton Park Flower Show and the Cardiff Flower Show. These shows exhibit the best in horticulture by providing show gardens, floral marques and expert advice.
In 2004 the society celebrated its bicentenary reflecting all the achievements of the RHS to date.
This is a lovely book with a focus on plants, gardens, and gardening throughout the year with the 12 chapters broken up by month beginning with January, as it explores the winter flowers, such as witch hazel and sweet box, and snowdrops.
As in each month there are suggestions on what to do in your garden, depending on the month. There are also suggestions for each month to take on a garden related project.
Beyond that, this includes the projected times by location (although the location is set in London and Edinburgh), the projected Moonrise and moonset, as well as the Average Rainfall.
If nothing else, this is such a beautiful illustrated book, but it is literally filled with photographs of not only fruits, vegetables, etc., but also of the native wildlife, when to plant, as well as how to deal with how to protect your plants from insects, etc, ideas for seasonal planting, as well as horticultural heroes, which I can’t recall seeing in any of my gardening books.
Seasonally speaking, this is somewhat dependent on location, in terms of what plants to plant, when to plant them, and your location, but there is a month by month section sharing what to do in that month, as well as tips on pruning.
One of the things that caught my eye is a ‘project’ on capturing rainwater, which is something that sounds like a wonderful project, along with how to create a flower meadow. But there is an abundance of ideas to choose from, for those who enjoy gardening. This also includes a recommended list of plants, by the month, as well as a recommended project for those who enjoy spending time adding their own creative touch to a garden.
A lovely garden almanac to enjoy with beautiful photographs, and illustrations.

I don't think the annual gardener's almanac needs either an introduction or a review. This one then is crystal clear and I also like the added figures and chapters on the great horticulturists of the past.
Non credo che l'almanacco annuale del giardiniere abbia bisogno né di una presentazione né di una recensione. Questo poi é chiarissimo e mi piacciono anche le figure ed i capitoli aggiunti sui grandi orticultori del passato.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
