Even Lee Ann Gardinier's sisters can't keep pace with her as she careens through relationships, marriages, and places of employment while she desperately seeks that which has eluded her thus a sense of peace and the happiness and fulfillment that is derived from finding true love. Secrets and wounds from her past, fueled by hasty and unwise decisions, continue to thwart her in her search. The key to healing in all aspects of her life, if Lee Ann can accept it, will come through forgiveness and reconciliation. During the process, she discovers that she has acquired the love which she has long sought. The question for Lee Ann is whether she is capable of receiving it.
The writing style of 'A Suitcase Tale' was good and the book was easy to read. The story focuses around Lee Ann Gardinier who has made several poor marriage and boyfriend choices over the years. Throughout the book Lee Ann begins to realize that jumping into a relationship isn't necessarily the best thing to do and therefore begins to mature and ready herself for a lasting relationship.
'A Suitcase Tale' is an easy, and short read. There are a few places throughout the book where the author makes a large plot jump between chapters, making the storyline a bit disjointed in places. I enjoyed the beginning of the book more then the end since the focus seemed to shift from the character, Lee Ann, to how one could have a better relationship with God. I wasn't entirely expecting a religion-based book when I began reading 'A Suitcase Tale', so I was not in that mindset during reading.
A well written and entertaining page turner. Poignant, humorous, and relevant, I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a good novel in the more literary fiction genres. Seems to be the second part of a trilogy focusing on three sisters. I look forward to the third novel, and will indeed read the first.
I would definitely consider this a "feel good" kind of book. It is the 2nd in a series and isn't normally my type of book (faith plays a large role), however I really enjoyed the story and am hopeful that there will be a 3rd book to learn more about the other sister.
