Royally Fated

Rate this book
I’m cursed to love my fated mate…

My fated mate, Ayla, is a beautiful and gifted healer. She’s also dangerously cursed and a deadly risk to those closest to her. Especially me.

With my power-hungry, cruel father, King DeLune, after us, I’m beginning to think I’m cursed too. My father will do anything to destroy me and win this war, including killing Ayla.

Our only chance of survival is to escape to Verdana Isle, where Ayla is more determined than ever to find a way to break her curse so that we can claim each other. Meanwhile, I must do everything in my power to rally those around us to fight on our side.

Except our enemies aren’t far behind, and it’s worse than I feared. The one who cursed Ayla is among them, and unless I can protect her, we may never get the chance to be together.

But first I intend to make him curse the day he dared to threaten my fated mate…

I started to lose interest in this and started skimming midway through and just gave up. I think the writing is just not for me. Too much inner monologue that slows the pacing down too much. After 300 pages, it felt like hardly anything had happened.

Grandma Sue

Long on words and repetitive and the ending was a total drop. I almost didn’t finish the book which is very rare for me….

Rating: 4/5 stars

Main Tropes/Features: Story continuation & conclusion, Fated mates, Shifter romance - Wolf, Alpha hero, Close-proximity, Cursed MCs, Magic

Secondary Tropes/Features: Royalty, Military MCs, Fantasy/Paranormal characters

Triggers: Whilst some of the triggers are prominent in the story due to the nature of the wider plot I don’t consider their presence to be overly graphic or have the potential to be highly triggering due to how they are written. Triggers include:

Royally Fated continues Ayla and Kai’s story picking up right where Royally Cursed ended and was an enjoyable continuation and conclusion to their story.

As with book one Ayla was a determined, strong, and compassionate individual and Kai was dominant, righteous, and self assured. Their romance didn’t develop as much as in book one as their fated mates destiny had been established and the overarching plot was in focus but there were moments that continued to explore emotion and a more in depth contentment. The relationship development in book one focused on excitement and flirting amidst danger and drama whilst in book two it was about connection and continued support. In parts of the plot we got to see them live a partly unencumbered life and this taste of normalcy for them both was nice to see and strengthened the author’s presentation of them developing a deeper connection.

The overarching plot was of greater focus in book two and revolved around Ayla’s curse and the political unrest as a result of Kai’s father’s rule. The mission to solve the mystery behind Ayla’s curse continued to be enjoyable and it brought a few twists to the story, some of which were unexpected, and gave it a satisfying conclusion. The plot focusing on Kai and his family only began to unfold at the end of book one and it was one which I couldn't wait to see how it continued. It ended up being a storyline as interesting as Ayla’s curse and I felt that it added a lot to both Ayla and Kai and the secondary characters who were as important to this story as our main couple. Whilst I enjoyed the plot and its conclusion I do think things wrapped up a little quickly after the main storylines were resolved. I’ll admit it was obvious how Ayla and Kai’s story was going to end before it happened on the page and it was one I warmly welcomed for them. And for that reason whilst I do think the pacing worked with how their story ended I would have preferred for it to be a little more drawn out just to see more of it.

Like Royally Cursed, Royally Fated had plenty of romance, secrets, drama, and adventure. It kept me engaged and I wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen next and how everything would end. This is a cast of characters and an established world that I wouldn’t mind coming back to in the future if other characters get their own books.

Favourite Quote:
“I know. I know, baby. But it’s for our future. We’ll have to make sacrifices now that neither of us want to, but it’ll be worth it for our tomorrows.” … “I would give up everything and more to get us even one more tomorrow.”

Royally Fated book two brings together a few threads while delivering some new twists in the story of healer Ayla and her fated mate Captain Kai.
With the revelation of who cursed her as an infant the intrigue and suspense grows as do the enemies determined to destroy them.
An excellent follow-up to book one this fantasy romance exudes all the necessary tropes for its genre which will make a believer out of every reader in a story that can deliver a well written, engaging, immersive, action-adventure that will have you going back to read again to catch what you may have missed the first time by turning those pages so fast!.

Kai is the prince and Ayla’s fated mate, she tried to deny it because of the curse she had since she was a baby it was dangerous. Ayla was a powerful witch and healer and trying to break the curse, the Shrouded Shiek was also helping his father. When his parents found out that they were fated mates it was decided they had to be killed. The woman he was to propose to found out she was one of his men Mad Dog’s fated mate. Kai and Ayla got help in getting away. Went to the fae isle for help had to fight to get things sorted out. Good book!.

The story of Kai and Ayla continues and is jam-packed with drama, action, intrigue and suspense and full of twists and turns which will leave you on the edge of your seat and breathless as you read it. I could not put this book down so be prepared for a late night. I wish I could give this more than five stars as it really does deserve it.

Decent story, moves slow

While I love details, the story moved very slowly because I felt like there was a lot of repetition about their love and how the main characters couldn't believe the situation they were in. Glad to have finished because it felt like it took forever to reach the end of these books. Nice HEA and definitely some great plot twists but moved too slowly for my liking.

With long and arduous fights, will this pair survive? Trauma, famial battles, romance, fated mates, curses, new lands, and well detailed character lives. This story continues to be an intriguing and active read.

This is another epic conclusion from Skye. It follows Ayla and Kai across different lands, through numerous battles whilst trying to save their home from evil.
I loved the relationships, not just between the main characters but between their friends. This story had snappy dialogue and a brilliant conclusion. 5 stars!

So good!

Loved the characters. Hated the curse that turned out to be a hitchhiker planted there by a big bad. Not cool when that happens. Lol - it was great that we got to live & grow with Kai & Ayla while their relationship grew throughout 3/4 of the series as opposed to only the tail end. As always - 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩 HEA!

God this was a long book far to many unnecessary words
Literally half the book is filler

Loads of build up for the battle with the big bad and then the book is over in something like 4 chapters

With far to many threads left hanging

I am enjoying this world and where the story is going. I like the characters and even the side characters are well created for the most part.

As much as I loved the first book, I struggled with this one. I hope to be able to come back to it later.

Too much pointless dialogue.

This book had great potential, but the pointless dialogue was a major kill joy. More boring parts than excitement, seemed to take forever to read.

Lots of lead up to the end to be disappointed. Long winded series and then the ending was rushed.

Ayala

Half witch, half wolf Ayala is the fated mate of Prince Nicolai ( Kai). But evil is causing war, and war is killing the people.

Was okay. Why bother bringing up she’s the heir of the other kingdom if we never hear what happens to the other kingdom after Kai becomes temporary king of his?

I love that this book brings together the two books. Ayla has tried hard to deny her fated mate and now she can finally begin relaxing into the bond. I love the mix of magic and war. Lots of drama and action.
