Katie Shaw I’ve spent my life putting others first. Now I’m alone and floundering. There aren’t enough hours in the day. Then Grady O’Brien walks into my coffee shop. And he shows up the next day. Then again every day following. He takes care of me and it’s so easy to be his good girl. It won’t last forever, though. Nothing ever does.
Grady O’Brien The girls in my family think they need to set me up on dates. If I wanted to date, I’d find my own. Except I’m living a lonely existence, envious of my brother’s relationships. Then I meet her. The one I know is mine. She needs me. And now my entire existence revolves around convincing her of it.
Kate Oliver has aspired to be an author all her life. From the time she was known as "that girl who always has her nose stuck in a book", Kate Oliver has wanted to be a writer. Currently, fetish romance is her favorite for both reading and writing. Kate has been a part of the fetish community for many years, and strives to write stories that realistically reflect that lifestyle. Her favorite part of writing her own books is dreaming up the hot and steamy, yet loving and strict, Daddies that Littles dream about.

- a mafia romance! dark romance, age gap, daddy k!nk, hurt/comfort, instalove, found family! - i am sad this one is less than 200 pages!! they’ve all been around 300 - Katie i love you already, you’re the sweetest - also slay queen owning your own business!! - this is the slowest these men have courted someone i swear 😂 took him 5 whole days - i love how quickly he fell for her tho!! he was so sweet on her - okay their sex scenes are excellent - i love that he just fixes everything for her, she never puts herself first!! it was very nice to see - honestly Smoke was only mentioned like once and that was very surprising - this one was pretty calm compared to the others but their relationship was one of the strongest! - third act conflict felt a lil bit forced but i’m not that mad about it - nah she was a savage when it came to that lass it was AMAZING - and the ending was AMAZING - this one was short and sweet! super happy about Patrick too, does this mean he’ll get a book?
3.7 stars. Aw man. Grady is such a sweet, possessive, dangerously hot man. I really love him with Katie. I loved the little interactions he had with Tom. And Katie. I really liked how smart and kind she was, while also having a fiery temper when her man is involved.
I have loved Grady from the beginning and was so excited for his book! Grady and Katie were adorable and I couldn’t wait for them to get together! Kate Oliver didn’t make us wait long and I loved it! I have said it once and I will say it again, if you haven’t read this series you need to! Also… if you were ever wanting to dipping your toe in the DD/lg book world this series is PERFECTION 🖤
Brilliant, loved it. Just too short and very rushed.
Oh wow. That was so good, but I wish this had been longer. It’s 179 pages and with the spacing between chapters it’s more like 150 ish. It’s way too short, and it’s such a shame as I loved it.
Katie is a bit of a sad lonely character. After her parents have both died, who she spent most of her life looking after, she has no one. No friends, no family, no boyfriend. I have to say that I don’t normally like characters like that, but the author doesn’t dwell on it. Katie owns a coffee shop that Chloe used to work at. When Chloe pops in to see her, the girls all decide to set Katie up with Grady. The first time Grady sees Katie he knows she’s his, actually the first time he hears her voice. Bit bizarre. As they get closer Grady realises that Katie is drowning under debt from her mothers hospital bills and working extremely long hours at her coffee shop. He vows to help make her life better, and easier.
While I loved their romance, it felt way too rushed. Grady and Katie get together within a week of meeting and are madly in love, and Katie is calling him daddy and is living with him. Their sex scenes are hot. 🔥🔥🔥 K can’t believe I’m going to say this but I wish there was more sex scenes.
There are a few things that spoilt it slightly. As I said earlier too short, and a few things that didn’t really add up. 🔵 Chloe worked for Katie at the coffee shop but Grady never went in, so didn’t see Katie before. Everyone else did but him. 🤔 🔵 I would have liked more of a plot, some danger, as apart from a couple of minor problems, that’s it. 🔵 I missed Declan, Bash, Killian, Kieron and their women. They’re hardly mentioned at all. Some of the other books have been really funny at times with the littles playing tricks on the men. There was none of that, sadly. 😔 🔵 Some of the plots didn’t finish. We just have to guess what happened.
Having said all of that I still loved it, and was sad when it ended.
I know I say this every time Kate Oliver releases a new book but Grady is a favorite now. I loved this story so much and while it was shorter than the others in this series, it packed a lot of emotions into it. Katie has never had anyone take care of her and put her first so when her friends (who already have their Daddies) sort of set her and Grandy up, sparks fly. Yes, the relationship was fast, but these Daddies always fall hard and fast!! Katie is a bad a$$ woman who, while holding her own, needs a Daddy in her life and Grady is more than happy to fill that role. He takes care of her problems and lets her know that she will always come first. There is a bit of drama with a creepy real estate agent and then some "woman" trying to get her hands on Grady but I loved the way Katie took care of the woman. LOL Seeing all the others from previous stories is the icing on the cake and while I know Tom isn't going to get a full story, I hope we can get a few glimpses of him in future stories!! Now I need Patrick's story!!!!!
Keeping Katie is the fifth book in the Syndicate Kings series by Kate Oliver, and it was just as amazing as I hoped. I’m a big fan of everything Kate Oliver writes, and this book didn’t disappoint.
The story follows Grady, who is the perfect Daddy Dom. He’s protective, intense, but also a total softie when it comes to Katie. Katie is sweet, and it was fun to see her learn to let someone else take care of her. I liked that even though Katie is a little, she’s also a successful business owner. It’s great to see characters in the Daddy/little lifestyle who are different and have their own strengths.
It was also really nice to catch up with the other Daddies and littles from the series. I always enjoy seeing how their relationships are going.
Kate Oliver’s writing is really good, and her characters feel real. They keep me hooked from the beginning to the end of each book. As soon as I see she has a new book out, I grab it right away and it goes straight to the top of the TBR list.
“Does she have a man she has to go home to? I’ll kill him. She’d probably get over it in a few months before she’s ready to move on to me. I can wait it out.”
We meet Katie, a woman who has spent her life putting others first, only to find herself feeling lost and overwhelmed. Running a coffee shop and navigating her lonely days, Katie is floundering—until Grady O’Brien enters her life. Grady, living a similarly lonely existence, envies the relationships around him and hoping for his own special person to daddy, then he meets Katie.
What begins as daily visits to her coffee shop and some light stalking, quickly turns into something more meaningful, as Grady steps in to take care of Katie in ways she didn’t realize she needed. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and Katie finds comfort and ease in being Grady’s “good girl” and having him look after her like the over protective “daddy”
Grady, however, is determined to show Katie that she belongs with him, and his protective, unwavering devotion adds depth to the romance.

The insta love was strong on this one but at least he let her catch up. I was worried he wouldn’t let her catch up but he does a decent job of keeping a slight distance while definitely still st*lking as these men do. Katie was not ready for this man but in the end they fell in love and she finally had someone to help her out. I enjoyed both of the MCs in this book and I was glad to see a FMC in this world that didn’t quite know what was going on. It seemed more realistic. Still waiting for a FMC with real boundaries and limits
Tropes: insta love, he lightly st*lks her, protective MMC, touch her and d!e, poss*ssive MMC and FMC, easily je*lous MMC
Spice: 🌶️ Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Sweetness: 💗💗💗 St*lker but to keep her safe: 💀
Each book and couple in this series gets better and better....I love them all!
I am a sucker for a coffee shop romance, so that was a bonus for me!
Grady was the bad guy with the soft side for his woman that I was hoping for...all in and all kinds of territorial. Swoon.
Katie was too sweet for words and really did deserve to be put first and taken care of, Grady delivered! Plus, now she's in the family with her friends, winning!
Love that all the girls (and their guys) continue to be a part of each book in the series, really adds to the family vibe, and keeps the overall series connection strong.
I see so many book possibilities for the future, I hope Kate has plans to keep the series running for awhile!
This is the right back to the meek little girl type which is a trope that needs to stop. The author did this with the first two books and then finally had two with backbone. The story makes no sense with a sub for a mafia man who acts like a three-year-old. I gave Katie a bit of grace because she was inexperienced & tried to have a backbone but just gave in. Hopefully the author returns to more Chloe and Paisley.
The story arc itself was lackluster. It started off good but by the end it was a bit confusing. I'm unsure who the agent wanted to be the actual "bad guy" One made sense while the other made the reader unsure why they were there at the end. Read with Kindle Unlimited and voluntarily leaving a review.
Grady and Katie's story is a beautifully simple tale of love. From the moment Grady set eyes on Katie, he knew she was meant for him—even if she didn’t realize it yet. Little did he know, Katie felt the same way, though she struggled to believe she deserved him.
Both of them tried to hold back, with Grady thinking she’d be safer without him and Katie believing he’d be better off without her. But love has a way of breaking down barriers, and it wasn’t long before Grady decided that, despite the risks of his life, he was going to make her his. In the end, Katie followed her heart, and they found their way to each other.
This is a heartfelt and satisfying story that shows love truly conquers all.
I have loved Grady since the beginning of this series and I already knew he was going to be the biggest softie out of all these men. And Katie, she is perfect for him. Even though their love is super fast paced, I enjoyed and squealed at every cute moment these two had. Now why I didn’t give it five stars is because I want more from these two. I wish their book could have been longer. That and I would have loved more spicy scenes from them. Also, my biggest disappointment was that Katie is a huge bookworm and we never got a scene of her going into Grady’s home library. I felt like that would have been another cute or maybe spicy 😏 scene. I did overall enjoy this one and as always excited to dive into the next book!
I liked the story and the characters but it was too thin. If you have been reading the series like me you have been waiting for Grady to get his own story. And here it is except there is just not enough development to the story line. Grady falls in love with Kate by just hearing her voice and that’s ok for a start but we need more back story on him. We got the back story on Kate and she has had a hard row to hoe, taking care of her parents and working to keep their business afloat. But even that could use more fleshing out. It is sad, and we’re glad for to have someone kind and loving like Grady to come along and help make her life better but there needs to be more.
Obsessed with these two! I absolutely loved Grady. He’s unhinged, but so sweet and protective. I love the insta love vibes. He will burn the world down for Katie and I’m here for it. Katie is a great fmc. She’s a very strong and relatable character. My heart was hurting for her.
The plot was great. Fast paced, short, sweet and spicy! I was laughing and swooning most of the book! Kate is a favorite author of mine, this book did not disappoint.
Also, the scenes with Tom were so sweet and heartwarming. I cried. It was just beautiful.
Well ladies she has done it again absolute perfection you will be kicking your feet and giggling the amount of willpower this FMC has is amazing and then let's talk about Grady he is a teddy bear but when he has to be fierce he is. This was so sweet and almost like a Hallmark movie because of the setting of the coffee shop and everything so this is a must read and it's super cozy but then you get the mafia side of the world and it's like so perfect you get the best of both worlds.
cute, short and sweet. Really fast in the love department. not too much going on compared to the other books. I’d say this is the most wholesome book i’ve read from kate. Which is throwing me off since i’m so used to the rough background not that she doesn’t but yeah. Spice was decent. I’ve read so many daddy/dom books that this was a meh. I think i like the introduction of daddy doms and liked it if they met at a playground club before jumping into this relationship so quickly. overall decent book and enjoyable.
I’m a huge lover of this series and couldn’t wait for Grady’s story! I love Irish Mafia stories and when it mixes in with DD/lg makes it even better. Grady wasn’t looking for his forever girl, until he meets Katie. The attraction is like no other. She is perfect for him, and he is bound and determined to make her his. Katie is a breath of fresh air and I wanted to jump into the pages and hug her! I enjoyed reading their journey into a relationship that made my heart so full. Grady and Katie are the perfect couple!
i truly don’t understand how these books are so highly rated. the author is basically writing the same book in a different font. i liked both characters tho, especially grady. but we completely dropped the red dragon storyline. like wtf?? we never got any closure or anything from that, like huh? the first few books were more fun to read because they had all they stuff, but the last two felt underdeveloped with no plot this book should’ve been way longer. only 190 pages? there was so much room for more plot and it feels like wasted potential
Falling out of love for an author after reading the same book over and over again sucks. It also sucks the fun out of reading. I wish Kate had original ideas, stayed away from her very predictable story line, and actually tried as a writer. The Syndicate King series is like a wannabe Irish but not at all Irish, wannabe Mafia with no Mafia, retelling of the Daddies of the Shadows. There is a lot of wannabe in these books, but nothing to stand on.
I just love Grady even more now. Grady growing up the way he did and the way Katie grew up having to take care of het patents and not having a childhood really broke my heart. I felt for her and the struggles she was going through. Katie is definitely a go getter and doesn't give up no matter how tired she is. Meeting an overprotective daddy like Grady she doesn't know what hits her. This story is short but I loved it so mucj. Can't wait for more
I found Kate Oliver months ago. She brought me to Haven Texas with the "Malone men". Plus so much more. She is a gifted author with a story that just flows smoothly. She makes you laugh out loud in every single book. I'm not really into littles but I just can't put her books down. If you are into littles start with this series. If not head to Haven series. She is a must read especially with all the hot sex scenes yum.
But this one is special because it brings memories back to me because my dad died when I was very young. Grady is such a sweet person to the right women, but especially to the one. These guys are so protective and dominant. So bossy. But kind and loving too. I've loved all the stories in the Syndicate Kings. I would recommend all of Kate Oliver's Daddy books over any other. Layla Roberts is right up there with her.
This is hard to write because I absolutely loved Grady and Katie. I think they had the potential to be my favorite couple yet. But their story was way too rushed. They met and were saying I love you and moved in within a week and married very soon after. The plot was super bare bones and had the tiniest amount of drama possible. I loved the couple but felt the story was just so so missing.
Rating 4.5 CW : Mild Age Play, Domestic Discipline, Attempted SA, Arson, parental death, cancer
This is book five in Syndicate Kings series. It is a light Mafia Romance. This book has very little angst and is a quick read. It seems to be setting the reader up for what is looking like the last two books in the series and the spinoff.
There are two spicy scenes and plenty of spicy talk.
I loved this addition to the series!! It's so steamy and exciting, and the characters are some of my favorites.
My most favorite quote is from Grady: "You will continue being my rule following girl because that’s one of the reasons I like you. You’re pure, and sweet, and a good girl. I need some good in my life, princess.”
Kate Oliver is the Queen of ddlg IMHO. Is this my kink irl? Nope. But I eat her books up. This book was perfect except it ended. *insert pouting face* Grady sees Katie and instantly knows she's his Little girl. Katie is going through some tough times and Grady steps in to Daddy her. Loved everything about this book
I loved this story. I very much admire Kate Oliver's style of writing, imagination and smooth HEA's. Grady and Katie are made for each other and this shines throughout. Grady's strong , possessive love is a perfect match to Katie's self-sacrificing personality. Can't wait to read her next book.
