Consistent fun that keeps delivering on lighthearted Batfamily content. More characters, more shenanigans, and more jokes, it continues to capture audiences with its fresh perspective and tone.

More of the same: if you've enjoyed previous volumes of the Bat-family having comedic adventures and emotional breakthroughs while hanging around Wayne Manor or helping each other in the field, you'll like this one.
Actually, this one may be just a half-step off from the previous volumes as there are a few more villain fights than usual, and maybe I'm getting a little too bored with the concept or the creator is starting to struggle to find new iterations of the feel-good formula. Still more good than blah though.

June 20, 2026i read 3 of these back to back in basically one sitting--they're very cute and sweet and i laughed out loud multiple times. the therapy speak in some of the comics did get to me though and now i need to read something w/ exclusively fucked up toxic relationships as a palate cleanser before i get around to the rest

Wayne Family Adventures, Vol. 3 is yet another charming and adorable book of short, silly stories about Batman and his chaotic superhero family. Experience Barbara uncovering Jason's slightly cringey dating profile, follow Damian and Stephanie as they learn to fight in heels, see Dick challenge Helena Bertinelli to exchange weapons for fun on a mission and witness what happens when the family realises Alfred is in danger of having to spend the holidays alone.
Another great volume full of cuteness and wholesome moments of humor, friendship, teamwork, familial love and silly shenanigans like paintball fights among the kids and dumb bets. This series continues to be a perfect mix of domestic sitcom-like fun and DC superhero antics. It was also really fun seeing so many new faces in this volume. Harper Row aka Bluebird appears, as does Zatanna, Helena Bertinelli aka Huntress (one of my faves – loved her design!), Poison Ivy (I loved her grumpy vibe and how she, against her will, finds Cassandra and Stephanie quite fun), Vixen and Grace Choi. The art continues to be fun, expressive and just the right amount of over-the-top.
There were plenty of great stories in this volume, but here are some of my personal faves. The story about Batman giving Tim Drake his rebreather to keep him safe from Scarecrow's fear toxin was really moving, cause you get to see just how much he loves his kids. He doesn't hesitate to risk his own life to protect Tim. The second half of that story, with Bruce stuck in his mind, taunted by Scarecrow and his other villains, was really well done and I found myself quite moved when Bruce Seeing Ivy and Harley interact was lovely – they are the cutest – and I liked how Ivy ended up spending the night, as they wait for Harley to recover from her injuries, by Damian trying to keep his hair perfect so he will look good on school picture day was so much fun, and I died at how cute the story's final pages between him and Bruce were, where Damian says he The story where Tim Drake finally confronts Damian about the issues they have had for a while now – Damian not obeying him on missions and so on – and finds out that Damian isn't acting up because he disrespects Tim, but because I loved this story because we haven't seen too many heart-to-heart moments between these two boys before and because it was a scene in which the always snarky, sarcastic, distant and fiery Damian was truly vulnerable. The story where Dick Grayson makes sure Alfred won't be spending the holidays alone was so sweet, and I loved the moment when Any story focused on just how incredible and important Alfred is is a 10/10 story for me.
All the characters had their time to shine in this volume. I loved how the final two-part story really showcased Barbara's love for her dad, her fierceness and her cleverness. She is underestimated so easily because of her disability and her gender, but in this story she, once again, proves she is a badass hero through and through. I liked this quote from her: “I hate the way they see me. Weak, helpless, a victim. – But I am sick of being seen as collateral damage. As if that’s all I’m worth. As if that’s all I am.” Damian had some really lovely scenes where he, in his own way, expressed his love for his family, allowed himself to be vulnerable. In the Scarecrow story you get to see that while Bruce is still haunted by what happened to his parents, he has found joy and strength in her new family and no longer lives for vengeance alone: he lives for his family. Also, him and Selina are so cute! I liked seeing Harper Row (a character previously unknown to me) struggle with what it means to be a hero and whether she can create a real difference outside her hero work. I liked that story ending with her Duke had some fun moments in this comic and I'm finally starting to feel like he is really part of the fam – it was fun seeing him escape gala duties with Damian, see Jason and Cass teach him how to enter a building like a superhero (never through a door) and so on.
I am enjoying all the relationships still. The dynamics I most loved in this volume were Tim Drake and Damian (I loved the exploration of what being a Robin is like and means and what complexities can arise from there having been a litany of Robins), Alfred and everyone, and Bruce and his kids. There are some relationships I wish we would see even more of. I would love to see Dick Grayson interact with the girls, and I'd love to see more of his fun friendship with Helena. Harley is part of the team every now and then and it'd be fun to see more of her dynamic with the family – they are already such a chaotic bunch and the addition of one chaos magnet Harley Quinn would make everything ten times more wild, I think. I need to see it. Superman mostly interacts with Batman – and I do love their banter – but it might be fun to see what Superman is like with his "nephews" and "nieces".
I am gonna pick up the final two volumes in the near future. I might take a wee break now because I don't want this series to end yet. This series has been such a delight to read and I am not yet ready to say goodbye.

The five stars is honestly mostly for nightwing-rabbit and the Zatanna of it all, but I continue to be utterly charmed by this series!!! The Tim and Damian bit was also a standout, BOYS!!!!

Totally worth it for that last story! I have so missed getting to see Stephanie and Damian laughing and bonding together! Her solo Batgirl series set up one of the most wonderful relationships Damian had and it just faded in the New 52 - Rebirth shuffle. It's nice CRC seemed to latch onto those relationships I really loved that got lost in the shuffle - Cass and Steph, Damian and Steph, Luke Fox and Azrael, Duke's existence, Harper's existence. There's some great stuff here!
This volume set out to remedy a relationship DC hasn't even tried to fix - Damian and Tim's. Tim Drake stans still hold a grudge against a 10 year old and a 10+ year old beef. Damian stans (like myself) genuinely just accepted that was a Batfam relationship that would probably never be fixed. While not DC canon, it's nice Payne made an attempt to sort of approach at truce between them. In between them bickering like actual siblings, there's no doubt I prefer their dynamic here 10x more than in DC's canon.
I really liked the story where Cass and Jason try to teach Duke about dramatic entrances. I liked the story where they all tried to make the holidays special for Alfred. Harper's story is sweet. I like how this series cares more about the characters of color in DC's universe than the canon comics do. Hello, we get Vixen and Grace Choi in this story!!! That was such a nice feature to get. Can this series influence canon more? I've been so happy with what this series is.

I had no idea this series existed until it came in at the library. It looked silly and cute so I figured I would give it a try. I was expecting more of a continuous story, but these 'issues' (or episodes, to use the term in the comic itself) are all essentially small one-shots. Everyone is a bit silly, some characters more than others, while still feeling at least a little connected to their canon personalities. Basically just a fluffy family dynamic, and holy heck the number of bat-people/new robins has proliferated since I stopped reading DC regularly. Keeping everyone straight outside the main 3 Robins was definitely hard for me. I don't know if I would recommend reading the whole thing straight through either; I enjoyed it but I almost didn't want to keep reading the series because it does get to be a bit repetitive after 25 'episodes' back to back. Definitely some gem stories/panels in each volume though.

This is such a wholesome read that shows the Bat family's dynamics in such a normal way. Individuals have their struggles, but the family helps each other get through them. It's so beautiful.

"Batman works alone" has got to be one of the biggest perpetual myths in all of casual pop culture.
Heck, even the campy Adam West show has him constantly work with the Watson-to-his-Holmes Robin, so it SHOULD not have kept on perpetuating.
So it's very refreshing to see some stories of the crime-fighting found family of Gotham show more & more sides of these various characters that have amassed themselves around the Dark Knight Detective.
What's very interesting is that despite being a shenanigan-based series, there are also some strips that focus a LOT on the respective members and how they relate to each other without a hint of Batman about. A particularly good one involve Tim Drake and Damian Wayne hashing out how they got over their beef with each other, unknowingly having had lived in each other's shadow. Also a pretty good one was Barbara Gordon doing a lot to entrap a criminal both as Oracle and the daughter of Jim Gordon.
Probably my favorite lil bits of Batman life involve more characters from the DC universe, with Zatanna stopping a villain on stage with Bruce Wayne as the "volunteer from the audience," Poison Ivy teaching Spoiler how to take care of houseplants while watching over a recovering Harley Quinn, and Batman, despite being the best at almost everything, forgetting he was cooking an omelet because Superman called him to talk about a case, and thus nearly burning down his kitchen.
Great stuff from creators that just GET the Bat-family characters.
