I received a kindle copy of this book as a giveaway on Goodreads. I entered the giveaway because it covers a topic I have been doing some related reading on to better manage anxiety. The book is pretty surface level and includes a lot of fairly straight forward analogies such as there was a girl named Sarah, and she did this and this and it made her feel this way which if you are just getting into trying to practice more mindful thinking would probably be a good method of getting used to some of the concepts behind this type of thinking. For me I think it was a bit too surface level and just for personal preference included too many sports references. (I am not a sports person though and so that is just my personal opinion) I would definitely recommend it as a first look at mindful thinking for anyone interested in learning more about the topic though. The focus on journaling as a way to practice gratitude is very accurate as well from personal experience. Grateful to have had the opportunity to read it and to have received it as a giveaway.
Stop thinking about the cup being half empty or half full and understand that the cup is refillable!
I appreciate that there is another way of thinking about things, somehow helping to get us unstuck from a monotonous rut. I enjoyed the way the author presented this book, the exercises and the idea of journaling, to understand what habits you have, (without knowing it from taking things for granted,) and that you are able to change your habits. Its never easy and change is constant. It'll always be external factors fighting internal peace, but now, with an understanding, you can combat negativity, even the ones you create.
I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway. Thank you for this opportunity!
There were several good takeaways from the book. I appreciated the tips on how to stop worrying about things over which you have zero control; turning failures into opportunities to do things you didn't plan for; becoming aware that people aren't watching and judging you as much as you think they are; and being grateful in every moment for what you have, instead of focusing on what you don't have.
I would have loved to have seen the term 'batshit crazy' being used much less!
I was excited to win this book as part of the Goodreads Giveaways. This was a nice, quick read with a lot of "eat well and exercise" kind of advice but for the mind. I might feel like it wasn't impactful for me because I'm constantly filling my head with positive inputs but if you're just starting to explore the power of mindset and want to know the keys to get to a more positive mindset habit, this is a perfect book to start with.
I received a Kindle version of this book from Goodreads Giveaways.
I found it easy to read and relatable. The advice is good, though I didn't find it to be innovative. I enjoyed the stories that were included in each chapter.
The Kindle version also wasn't laid out correctly (the chapters don't necessarily start on a new page). I didn't factor this in my rating, as it doesn't relate to the content of the book. It also may have just been an issue for me and no one else.
We are all bat shit crazy. Get used to that line because it is over used in this book. This book focuses solely on thinking positive and not really how to get there. A bunch of repetition throughout the chapters. I expect this book to be as effective as telling an irate person to “calm down.”
