Never Enough for Love: A Pen Pals to Lovers Romance

Rate this book
All her life, around the way girl Ruejae has received crumbs from the world that’s left a stain on her perception of what she deserves. On the verge of blurring lines with a long-time friend, she is ready to see what’s on the other side of incessant flirting, weighty promises, and ravishing fantasies shared over a recorded phone line. Cutting ties wasn’t a part of the deal but when calls go unanswered and promises are forgotten, she has no choice but to move forward with the shame, embarrassment, and insecurity of loving a man the world warned her she shouldn’t.

With roots in abandonment and being labeled a troublemaker at a young age, Kamari undergoes a total identity shift once he’s given a second chance to build a life he and his loved ones can all be proud of. When he’s called on by the mother who abandoned him to help save his younger brother from going down a path he knows all too well, his heart won’t let him tell her no. When he returns home with the love of his life, his only goal was to expand his business and mentor his brother. The last thing he expects is to collide with the pen pal from his past that has ties to his family. His heart was never supposed to be available, but after his lover crosses a line he has forbidden, he finds himself pursuing a girl the world says is off limits.

Neither of these genuine, big-hearted souls expected to find love in a messy place. While everyone says their love should be forbidden, Kamari and Ruejae can’t seem to untangle themselves from years of secrets, hopes, and dreams buried in the lines of letters long forgotten about. They’ve exposed their hearts in a way that connects you to someone for life. So when they meet for the first time, there’s a magnetic energy anyone in the vicinity can feel. Can Ruejae and Kamari heal from never being enough for love to discover the truth… that love was rooted in their DNA all along? In these pages find out if the fate… the dharma… the destiny of two souls is enough for a happily ever after.

Whew, Miss Mycah! You just snatched my po’ lil’ feelings, and flung me around the world, with this thang here!

Poor Ruejae! Trying to be everything for everybody and getting nothing in return. Between being the caregiver for her mother, and sisters, as well as the breadwinner; she was burning out quickly. Not to mention how she was holding it down for her best friend Jalen, while he was doing his bid. However, she did it all with joy in her heart, as she was truly an angel.

Now Jalen? Were you hiding the fboy, and asshole tendencies, or did you just get out and lose your damn mind? I mean what the hell bruh? I could not believe the audacity of your actions and words toward Ruejae after all she has done and been to you!! 😤🤬

Mr. Kamari Kross! Yes lawd! ❤ This man had every reason to be angry, bitter, spiteful, and all that but he took the high road, and just got his ish together. Although he turned his life around, and was doing well for himself, that trauma still lingered. I wondered how he would deal with his mother, and brothers when he returned home, after all that he had been through.

The connection between Kamari and Ruejae before they ever met in person was crazy! However, when they did meet, the chemistry was already there hovering below the surface waiting to appear. They both knew that their coupling would raise some eyebrows, but so what, it feels right. I know I was probably supposed to feel a way about these two being together, due to Jalen, but f Jalen! This was meant to be, and no one could stop it! The way Kamari spoke life into Ruejae, and cared for her was everything! He knew all she needed was a person to tell her she was enough, just as she was, and she would take flight. Ruejae gave Kamari a love he had never experienced and helped him heal his inner little boy with abandonment issues. Great read! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Nice season starter

I wasn't even turned off with the premise behind this couple's eventual relationship and connection. I did not think JD was a good match for Ruejae. He treated her like a bit so close friend, and definitely not like his best girl. I laughed every time the other woman's appearance was mentioned. Kamari, on the flip side was it for me. I enjoyed this journey.

My first complete read of 2024 was absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Loved the storyline and was able to see it flow and grow. Jalen was stiffled and stuck in the little knowledge he allowed In his head. Kamari was dreamy and a testament to all is not loss when one mistake is made. Rue had a beautiful spirit and such a positive outlook on life. She definitely need affirmation and a chance to break from her normal.
I thoroughly just enjoyed what started out as encouragement that turned into to much more.

Loved it!

I love the way the author paints a picture that makes you feel like you are in the story with them. Ruejae had been through a lot, and so had Kamari and they were just what each other needed. I loved how Kamari loved her, even if their relationship was frowned upon. It was destined for them to be together no matter what. There were a few moments when I got emotional.
There was love, secrets, and betrayal, and I think you should read it!

I took my time reading this book. I didn't want to let the characters go Imma just say this now, Rue & Kamari has became one of my favorite book couples: Rue gave so much of her self to everyone around her. Kamari refused to let his past define him as a man. He comes into Rue life and gives her exactly what she needs...reciprocal love. He loves on her out loud and unashamed. Together they both heal the broken parts of themselves. I could go on & on about Rue and Kamari lol. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

If Ms. Edwards don’t do nothing else, she’s gonna pull the heck out of those heartstrings. Initially, I was weary of Kamari and Rue getting together but quickly began seeing they were soulmates and made for each other.

If you’re looking for a beautiful love story between two souls that healed each other, this book is exactly that.

are you crying?!

Chilleeee! Mycah gon make sure you feel all those emotions!
I could relate to Ruejae. A woman who does everything she can for all those around her with a genuine heart that sometimes can get overlooked.
I was a tad weary about the relationship with Kamari cause not ya ex’s brother! But we can’t help who we love. Especially when that person does everything in their power to make sure you know you are more than enough.

My stinkabuttt Kamari! Him and Rue were one and the same. Doing for others even when they couldn’t do the same for him. He just needed someone to believe in him just as he did with others. I’m so glad they found each other. And that man stepped 10 toes down behind his woman!! I know that’s right Kamari!!

JD…I mean whatever 🙄😂😂

Should Eliza have done what she did in Atlanta without talking with Kamari first. No! But l think he crossed the line first with Rue. He claims he didn’t plan to act on their connection but he did. Just because it wasn’t physical doesn’t mean they were innocent. And maybe that subconsciously impacted Eliza’s decision. She still should have spoken up but I feel that Kamari being drawn to another woman played a role in things.

I don’t like that Rue thinks that Kamari is cheating on his girl and willing to continue beyond a one time impulsive thing. Did she not feel like shit when Jalen dogged her out??!! To be willing part of that happening to someone leaves a bad taste in my mouth regarding her and her character.

She started questioning the type of man Kamari was bc Jalen had her in her feelings, when she was the one thinking she was laying with a taken man. The nerve of her.

Jalen is so damn selfish. He deserves misery.

“I’m the girl who has never had enough from others or been enough for them either.” When Rue said this it broke my heart for her. I hate that it’s usually good kind souls that experiences this.

I know whatever this is, is big misunderstanding bc Kamari isn’t a fuckboy.

Oh gees I hope Rue didn’t go through it. She does not need Jalen of all people having that over her head. Birth control people!!

I knew fuckboy Jalen would run his mouth. Beat his ass Kamari.

Another curveball. I hate that they didn’t explain the clinic visit.

Eliza is demented OMG

I’m going to say it again- beat his ass Kamari!!

I didn’t say anything when Ms. Marie came for Rue the first time, but now i know for certain I can’t stand that B and if I were Rue I wouldn’t forgive her again. I’d be respectful if we were at a family function but would not have anything say beyond good morning, good afternoon or good even. F her and her bratty twins. Jaden didn’t do anything but he’s just collateral damage.

Aww something really is wrong with Eliza. Now I feel bad of thoughts I’ve had of her and her behavior.

I love Kamari’s relationship with his dad.

Ok, Jalen apologized but the business piece could have been added another day. I know he’s being redeemed. And Rue and Kamari will probably forgive him but I still don’t like him.

I really enjoy stories that have me feeling many different emotions. This was one. Kamari and Rue both deserved their HEA and I’m happy they have it.

When letters morph into love

Okay. First things first… I would NEVER consider someone my sister had dealings with no matter how bad she may have done him or what kind of conversations we had. Now that I got that off my chest, Ruejae and Kamari were cute. I enjoyed the letters and open communication between them. I was side-eyeing them both for a bit, but by the end I was swooning. Kamari moved with intention and had no issue reassuring Rue. He is a man. Rue spoke life into him at his lowest and it’s clear her worlds held weight. Kamari walked in his purpose and supported Rue in fully stepping into hers.

Aside from all the love, I would’ve liked Rue to get some counseling because that relationship with Jalen was toxic. Despite it not flowing over too much into her relationship with Kamari, it was still looming in the background. Kamari could have used some too. The issues with his mom, brothers, and Eliza was a lot. I’m a firm believer in healing a bit before hopping into something new, and I felt the instant relationship between to people fresh out of relationships was a lot. I had no doubt that it would work out though.

I’m glad Rue and Jalen finally had that conversation, and I would’ve liked to see a more in-depth one between the brothers. Oh well. It was a great read and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Ok hear me out…I was not for Kamari and Rue’s relationship…in the beginning. I was very much “that’s your brother!” even though Jalen was trash. But but BUT I liked Kamari and Rue together, so I got over that quickly.

This was the first book I read by Mycah Edwards, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and her writing style. I went into this story kinda blind so I didn’t really know what to expect. Like I started reading the synopsis but it was really long so I stopped after the part about Rue. Imagine my surprise when it turned out Jalen wasn’t the main love interest 😂

Kamari and Rue got together a lot quicker than I thought they would, which I appreciated. I also liked that Rue wasn’t looking to Kamari for a handout. She really wanted to work for what she wanted/needed but I also liked that Mycah wrote Rue to ask for/accept help when she really needed it.

Kamari was perfection and did no wrong in my eyes. Even when he got angry, I was like “he’s just passionate.” 😂

The only change I probably would’ve made in this book would be to include letters in the epilogue somehow. Letters are how Kamari and Rue met and got to know one another, so it would’ve been a nice full circle moment for such a paramount event in their lives.

Anyway this was a great book, and I’ll be checking out more books in this author’s catalog.

This was my introduction to this author and baby... What a way to be introduced! Rue was my girl, I was rooting for her from the beginning. When Jalen told her straight up, no chaser where he went when he disappeared on her, I don't know why she was still giving him the time of day!! Now enter Mr. Kross 😍 now at first I was side eyeing him hard 😂😂 so many times I was screaming " bruh what are you onnnnn 😂" I hope Eliza got the help she needed and her parents should be ashamed of themselves! I was not feeling Marie in the before, during or after! She didn't take enough accountability for me. Now onto Kamari and Rue and their beautiful love story ❤ I loveddddd it so much, the way they uplifted each other and communicated so beautifully was everything!! I wish I got to read all the letters they wrote each other!

My goodness what a beautifully written book

When I first opened this book and read the beginning, I thought that I knew what was going on. NOPE

The Story of Rue and Kamari (Mr.Kross if you nasty) had ups and downs, while I would personally never be with someone one of my siblings have dealt with, Rue definitely needed someone that was on her team and Jalen was just NOT it. Kamari came in and both he and Rue were in need of healing and an unconditional love, of course the attraction between the two was instant.

Don’t let your best friend stop you from finding your forever and that’s all I’ll say🥰

“This world is cold, and good people need soft places to land, too.”

I love Mycah Edwards’ books. Her writing style is so poetic and unique. This book touched on some heavy topics - incarceration, mental illness, and parental abandonment for example - but it never felt too heavy or depressing. I wanted to shake Ruejae a few times, but Kamari was amazing from beginning to end. I wish we had more backstory on Rue’s friendship with Jalen and the beginning of the pen pal relationship. But overall, I enjoyed this book.

Were introduced to Ruejae&Jalen. I’m so relieved that he wasn’t the hero in this story..Who knew her penpal would be his brother. My heart ached for Ruejae she was a little naive Jalen did her real dirty. There were a few scenes where I wanted to smack her in the head like girl, but I get it I think us females can say we’ve all been that dumb girl . Kamari valued her he was the light she needed. Such a sweet story and romantic story because really in this day in age does write love letters anymore ?

Words are Important

This was an amazing story with relatable characters
Rue and Kamari were meant to be together although it took them awhile to get there and it there was some drama and emotional moments for both they arrived were they were always supposed to be from the very first letter written
I love the way Mycah put this storyline together and this family she made you feel their pain and happiness
Her talent was felt throughout the pages and I am glad that she is one of my favorite authors
Please read this book you will not be disappointed

Never enough

This was such a good and well written story. Reading the synopsis and starting out the book had me curious how Ruejae and Kamari would cross paths, but the author made that connection so seamless that I was invested in seeing what would happen between those two. This book showed that you will always be enough for the right person and that person will pour as much into you as you did for them and others and that’s exactly what Ruejae and Kamari found with each other. This was well worth the read.

So good!!

This was one of the most relatable stories I've ever read. I saw myself in both main characters. Ruejae and Kamari's love was so pure. They both experienced feelings of never being good enough. Ruejae gave Kamari hope when they were pen pals and Kamari returned the favor when they met in person. They were what each other needed. This book also gave me real life hope. Definitely a five star read and I can't wait to see what's next from author Mycah Edwards.

absolutely beautiful

I have to admit when I read Pen Pals to Lovers I didn’t know what to expect but I was ready for the ride anyways! He way Mari loved him some Rue was so beautiful and refreshing. He saw her heart and knew she needed the right opportunity to reach her full potential. She had a heart of gold that was so big and often got taken advantage of but he was determined to prove to her that she was just looking in all the wrong places for the right love.

The Prototype

Listen, I wont go too deep but Kamari is that ninja… giving very much BDE since the first chapter he appeared. And Rue… I loved her. She was vulnerable but also strong as heck. She was loving and she deserved so much better than what she was getting… enter Kamari Kross to save the day. Very beautifully written, storyline was amazing and their love was so very believable. Great book!

King Kamari

This was my first read by Mycah Edward’s, but it won’t be the last . I really enjoyed Kamari and Ruejae’s story! I loved the connection we learn the two share ! Ruejae definitely needed someone who poured into her as much as she poured into other people. Kamari meant business when it came to his pursuit and Ruejae. I couldn’t get enough of this story !

Never enough for love

I loved Kamari and Rue's relationship. The letters were the most beautiful thing ever. I'm glad neither of them allowed the outside noise to deter them from finding the love they deserved. This book made me look forward to my love story in the future. Great way to start off 2024.

Beautiful story 😍

I really enjoyed this book. Kamari and Rue are each other's person. The author did a wonderful job. You feel yourself cheering these two deserving people on for a chance at love, and it included the lost art of letter writing. This is definitely worth the read. It was a pleasure reading your book 🥰.

Amazing

I just love the relationship between Ruejae and Kemari. I’m glad the synopsis didn’t include anythimg about Jalen or I might not have wanted to read about brothers in that way. Mycah, you spun this perfectly. It was one of the best romance novels I’ve ever read. Great book.

Happy Reading‼️

Mmm IDK it was ok

I felt like too much of the book was spent around how bad Jalen did her….I mean did she ever fully move on from “everything she invested” with Jalen! Even when she called him just to talk and he treated her only for her to turn and call the brother who picked right up! Even at the end she smiled “sadly”…like for what??! Nah it moved entirely too fast!

Mycah girl you been dropping hit after hit. Rue stayed loyal to a jail bird and got played but when he fumbled a bad bitch she moved in to his brother. He was mad but his brother didn’t care at all he was just waiting until the time came where he could claim his woman. He rolled up on her and upgraded her life and she was loving it there.

Who Knew

I love the display on pen pals to romance relationship. Everyone deserves love. The way kamari carried himself and change for himself was well written. However, wish it explain the setting and scenarios of how the twins and kamari can about with stealing. And where kamari was at when the guy told him. This book was good.

Really good calm and chill read

Really good calm and chill read. Just enough drama mixed in didn’t get to heavy. I could of took less details on some topics (constant reminder of not being enough) and more on others (the stepfather, or the concern with Li) but the read was not unfulfilling.
