Having a modest wine experience myself, I enjoyed the trip back to the monastery where wines were a significant added function of the religious orders that we thought only prayed all day. Processes for wine making were honed over time including aging in barrels that are now replaced by high tech vats and new techniques. The read was easy and fun, but I was disappointed that among the 30 wineries reviewed only 2 were from the US and one from Italy. Of course, this was the authors' personal odyssey so I guess I was jealous that I could not have had the chance to go with him. Nevertheless, I will keep on tasting these great vintages on my own journey.
From sediment to tannins to where the best wine grows, I have a lot of new factoids to share with friends. I should have purchased a physical copy as part of my coffee table selection.
