When Beau Wade left his small hometown of Whitecap, Oregon, he swore to himself he’d never go back. But when his NFL career goes up in smoke, that’s exactly what he finds himself doing.
Not much has changed in the ten years he’s been gone. Gossip still spreads through town like wildfire, Dropped Anchor is still the local’s favorite bar, and the woman he’s been secretly in love with most of his life still hates his guts.
Presley Fields is even more beautiful than he remembered. Her smile has the power to light up a room and that bubbly personality of hers is still as strong as ever. For everyone but Beau, anyway, and that’s the least he deserves for making her high school years a nightmare.
He isn’t the same stupid kid he was back then, and after watching her slip through his fingers too many times, the tides have finally turned in his favor. It’ll take a miracle, and every ounce of charm he has, but he’s determined to win her heart. And this time, he intends to keep it.
Born and raised around Houston, Jessica is a self proclaimed caffeine addict, connoisseur of inexpensive wine, and the worst driver in the state of Texas. In addition to being all of these things, she’s first and foremost a wife and mom. Growing up, she shared her mom and grandmother’s love of reading. But where they leaned toward murder mysteries, Jessica was obsessed with all things romance. When she’s not nose deep in her next manuscript, you can usually find her with her kindle in hand.

This author has never been bullied before and it shows. This MMC made the FMC life a living hell in high school. He did it because his dad is powerful and threatened to get her dad fired from being a handyman. MMC could’ve chosen to just leave her alone, but he took it a step further and bullied her, along with his high school girlfriend. Then one night in college she let him take her virginity, only for his dad to call the next day and threaten him again to get rid of her. So he acted like a jackass and she got hurt AGAIN. And we’re expected to go along with this story that he’s just “sorry” cause he’s grown now? WHERE’S THE GROVELING??? I don’t care that his dad is an asshole. What was the purpose of making her life a living hell because of it??? Ignore her. It’s as simple as that. Just leave her alone for fucks sake.
If I knew this book included the god awful betraying body syndrome trope I would’ve skipped it. This woman cannot stand up to this man. And it’s only because he’s hot and it’s the best sex she’s ever had. She’s so angry at him but the moment she looks at him “he’s so good looking my pussy is clenching” (paraphrasing) GIRL STAND UP! She has no fucking spine. A doormat.
And what is it with best friends being on the guys side?? This man bullied her best friend and she saw how that fallout left her, and yet “the chemistry’s already exploded between you two.” I’m sorry but that man would forever be on my shit list as a best friend. How are you not on your friends side??? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
I'm going to start by saying this isn't my favourite troupe, that said this author is good at sarky comebacks so I was hopeful.
Some may have an issue because of other woman flashback scenes where the Hero as the star quarterback dates the catty cheerleader and there are several scenes of them kissing, all over each other, while humiliating the heroine.
He has a rich dad who threatens to ruin the heroine's dad so the Hero goes back to ignoring her again.
In the present day, the Hero only has eyes for the heroine, he gets a few offers from elsewhere that he ignores. The heroine goes on a date with other man but it doesn't go anywhere.
Dual POV. Today and past chapters.

When I saw Jessica was releasing a new book and that it was a former bully romance, I was super excited. Which is why it pains me to say I didn't love it.
I really feel like this was a me a issue. There was nothing wrong with this book, it was just missing that angsty factor that most of her books have that I love. I don't know if I would consider this a bully romance or even an enemies to lovers, either, but we all define things differently.
Anyways I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys low angst small town romances, 3.5 stars rounded up.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author and let me just say WOW. I have read every book Jessica Prince has published but this one was by far my favorite. I couldn't put it down, I read it in a single sitting. There was no crazy plot twists or anything, but the whole story kept me HOOKED. The chemistry she created between Presley and Beau was out of this world and felt so real. I can't wait for the next installment!
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ There weren't a ton of spicy scenes, but it was just enough for the story. Nicely placed to not muddle the actual storyline while still giving us what we love to read.
Overall Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm stingy with my 5th star, but I'm telling you this was a close one for me
ARC REVIEW- TURN OF THE TIDES Stars- ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice- 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 _________________ 💋Enemies to Lovers 💋Opposites Attract 💋Reformed High School Bully 💋He Falls First (and HARD!) 💋Small Town 💋Retired NFL Player _________________ Thanks to Jessica Prince for the ARC! I received an advanced copy of the book and am leaving an honest review 😊
This was my first Jessica Prince book and my first foray into the Whitecap series. It follows Presley, our sunshiny heroine who is trying to buy the bar she manages in her small town and Beau, the ex NFL Player who tormented her in high school who’s moved back home. This is the 3rd book in the Whitecap series but can be read as a standalone.
I loved this book! I haven’t read too many reformed bully stories but I was so down for this one! It helped to have the dual POV and see Beau’s side of the story and what happened in the past to get to where they are now. I loved everything about Presley, she was such a sunshiny person with a heart of gold! Beau was hot AF and I was obsessed with how obsessed he was with Presley. I honestly kind of got some Veronica/Logan of Veronica Mars vibes from them and it was amazing!
Such a great story and NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP! The spice was off the chain and I couldn’t put it down. Read it almost in one sitting, in one day. I loved the friendship between Presley and Colbie and I CANNOT WAIT for Colbie and Cade’s story.
This certainly won’t be the last I read from Jessica Prince!
I love this series and am so happy to be back!!! This book hooked me from page one and I didn't stop reading until I was finished. Presley and Beau were high school/college enemies, due to how Beau treated Presley. Now in their mid-thirties, Beau is back in town and wants to make things right. Even though Beau was a bully, Jessica did a great job showing us his reasons and he was honestly so easy to root for from the beginning. I understood Presley's hesitancy and loved watching Beau wear her down. The pacing of the story was great and I loved how it turned out. I also cannot wait for book four!! If you like small town romance, definitely check this series out!
I was only supposed to read during my lunch break, but I ended up finishing the book in one go, so to say I loved it is kind of an understatement…I freakin’ adored it! There were eye rolling moments but there were also some great, heart warming moments as Beau and Presley work through their pasts and find their way to their HEA.
I adored Presley. I did. She is a ray of sunshine, but she isn’t afraid to let you know when she isn’t amused and show that steely backbone she has. Beau took me a bit to warm up to…and the reasons are valid…actually there was a moment where I didn’t know if I’d end up even liking the man, but once he let go of his tunnel vision and opened up, I started to melt and ended up loving the charming guy.
Their journey to their HEA, while fun, was also frustrating with all the push/pull going on. I was very much Team Presley, even when she had me rolling my eyes, because there were moments where I wanted to Gibbs smack Beau based on his actions, but the connection and attraction they have is undeniable and once they start to actually communicate, well, there was no way they couldn’t end up together.
This was a fun read and can definitely be read as a standalone. Even though their journey is rocky, the angst is on the low end. I loved Presley’s parents and Freddy was awesome. But not to be patient and wait to see how everything goes with Colbie and Caid!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Back in Whitecaps for book 3 we follow Beau and Presley. This was so sweet. swoony and spicy. It was just perfect. Beau was everything you wanted him to be and was everything that he needed to be for Presley. It was so so sweet the way he cared for, protected her and longed for her for so many years. It was fantastic to see him finally break down his own walls, and give in to his feelings for her. It was heartwarming to see her get everything she deserved and wanted out of life. Together they were so good for each other, and pushed each other in the best of ways. I adored their banter, openness and the connection they had. The balance of emotions, sweet, spice and hurt and healing. It was just sublime. I thoroughly enjoyed being back in Whitecaps, and cannot wait to be back again for book 4.
I was blessed enough to receive this arc from but the thoughts and opinions of this review are my own.
10/10 recommend reading this book!!! Jessica Prince never misses. She could write a book about paint and i would devour it! This book was so so good. i was hooked from the very first page. I wanted to throat punch Beau in the beginning (with good reason) but once he finally explained why he treated Presley like he did in high school and college, i just wanted to give him a big hug. Presley is just a dang good friend, girlfriend, and daughter. no wonder Beau is so in love with her.
I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book. I just wish I had more!!! I cannot wait for Colbie & Cade’s story!!!

I was patiently awaiting the return to whitecap & it did not disappoint!! Couldn’t put this down.
This read is about your typical high school quarterback & his return home after his 15 year career ends in the NFL. The one who got away from him works in the local bar & he’s got his eyes set on her. No matter what she says!
Absolutely loved the love hate pull between Beau & Presley, they both felt the emotional connection they had & fought it every step of the way
The chemistry for these two is fire 🔥
Great start to the reading year from Jessica Prince! Loved it definitely recommend ❤️
This is one of the most swoon-worthy books I’ve ever read. An incredible enemies-to-lovers AND second-chance romance, where the couple have known each other since high school, and struggle to work through their difficult past.
Beau and Presley are such lovable characters, and I was rooting so hard for them throughout the entire read. The side characters were great additions to the book, and I’m so excited to read more about them!
This is a great enemies-to-lovers that will have you feeling every emotion. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t put it down (except when I had to because I read it at work). For the first few chapters we get little glimpses of how Beau and Presley feel about each other, making you wonder what happened with them. When all is revealed I didn’t know what I wanted to feel more, sadness for them or anger at what they were put through. Not to mention, the banter between these two is AMAZING!!
Such a fantastic book! I loved every little bit of this enemies to lovers book. I love everything Jessica Prince writes and this one was absolutely no different. Beau and Presley had such amazing chemistry you could tell even with the flash backs from highschool and college. I absolutely loved this book. 5+ stars!
We're back in Whitecap! Wohooo! Turn Of The Tides by Jessica Prince is the 3rd book of her awesome Whitecap Series and OH MY GOODNESS!! What a fantastic roller coaster ride! 🎢💕
Presley don't wanna go to the school reunion in Whitecap, but her best friend Colbie persuades her... and she never expected to see HIM again. Never in a million years! Yes, she heard he's back in town. But why? And how long will he really stay? Does it even really matter? Nope! Not for Presley anyway!
Beau Wade was a professional football player... but after a huge injury he has to make new plans. So, the job offer to train the university's team is the best opportunity. It's near the woman he never forgot. But will he be able to get another chance?
Oh, oh, oh. What an emotional roller coaster ride this book was! Phew! 🫨 Turn Of The Tides is the story of Presley and Beau. Both know each other from high school and... well, let's say... it wasn't the easiest relationship at all. I loved to get a look back into their pasts. It made me hate Beau - like Presley did! Ugh! I really couldn't understand him - AT FIRST! BUT TRUST ME! EVERYTHING MAKES PERFECTLY SENSE! Oh my goodness! So, my hate turned into love... so much love! For them. For her. For him. All they went through in the past and in present. 🙏😌❤️ I don't wanna spoil you too much, but let me tell you... I loved every moment of it! 🫂 Besides their special connection and chemistry, there were sexy sexy sexy moments. W-O-W! Who would have thought?! Talking about: GOOSEBUMPS ALERT!! Awwwww!
So, I loved to be back in Whitecap! Lots of drama and emotions and love and friendship and more drama! ❤️
Oh, you won’t like Beau much at first. But I promise, the first bit of “wow, you’re something else” will morph into the “wow, you’re something deserving” easily enough. I promise. He seems arrogant and selfish and callous, but he’s got a long history with wearing that facade to hide who he is at his core. And he’s the guy who’s been head over heels for the girl he can’t have for most of his life. The question is, what’ll he do about it now that they’re grown and he doesn’t need to play by another’s rules?
And as much as you’ll want to shake Beau for a second or three, you’ll want to yell for Presley. She’s smart and strong and trying so hard not to be burned again. She knows she doesn’t want to deal with the thorn in her side, but that thorn is refusing to be ignored. And trust me, when beau decides he’s all in, he means it. He’ll talk things through with his best friend. He’ll think about how to move forward. And then? Oh, then he’ll make all the moves to prove who he is, who he wants, and what he’s willing to do to win her heart.
I loved this “are they enemies or something else” tale and the comeuppance for the true bully. I know you will, too. But now? Now I wait for Colbie to maybe get her shot at happiness, too. I have a feeling she’s got quite the ride ahead!
All the stars and more!!! My heart is so full after reading this book!! This is the third book in the series, and it follows a retired NFL player and a bar manager in a small town. These two will capture your heart and make you feel all the emotions during your read!
Beau and Presley have known each other since then were young and have always had a bit of competition going. She never backed down and gave as good as she got. Beau found her intriguing and loved the fire in her eyes. Even ten years later, you can feel the connection these two have.
I loved Presley for the way she stood her ground. And she went after what she wanted and dreamed of. Beau broke my heart for all he did and didn't do. But the man still stole a piece of my heart through this book.
These two pulled on my heartstrings pretty hard with their love and their back and forth. I was totally consumed by their story and couldn't wait to see how it ended. This will be a favorite read of mine!
This book definitely had me hooked, Beau and Presley were great main characters. They worked so well together. The plot was amazing. The development of their relationship was done so well. It wasn't rushed as they needed to overcome the issues that arose from his actions years before. It was a joy to read whether Beau had the determination to stay the course and get Presley to see him as not a bad guy, but as the guy she is meant to be with, Presley was so determined to keep at arms reach, but as you read you can see her resistance slowly falter. They also had to deal with his father and his role in their earlier separation.
Thank you to Jessica for the opportunity to read an ARC and provide a honest review.
I loved this newest addition to the Whitecap series! The dynamic of their relationship throughout the years was so interesting and complicated. This whole time Presley thought Beau hated her and was playing games, when in reality he's had deep feelings for her. I despised his father so much! Presley is a bundle of sunshine while still being a strong woman and Beau is an alpha in the bedroom while being a teddy bear for Presley. I enjoyed this story so much, I read it all in a single day. Definitely recommend and can easily be read as a stand alone-but the other books are so good, why would you want to? Looking forward to the next!
I was completely hooked and could not put this book down, ok that happens with this author most of the time but this is my current favorite. The vibes and everything about this bully/enemies to lovers/small-town romance was perfect. This is a bully/enemies-to-lovers book with a twist.
Presley and Beau were high school enemies until Beau left to play football. A football injury has brought him back and he’s determined to make things right with Presley. Presley and Beau have the best chemistry and some of the best banter. The things Beau said and did to make things right and to finally get the girl of his dreams had me melting. My gosh, Beau completely captured my heart. He was protective and bossy when he needed to be but utterly swoony and sweet the rest of the time. Presley was sweet and witty and it’s no surprise that everyone in town adored her. The two have some ups and downs but their journey was so much fun.
This is the third book in the series but can be read as a complete standalone.
🏈 small town romance 🏈 sports romance (former NFL player, current coach) 🏈 high school bully 🏈 enemies to lovers 🏈 unrequited love 🏈 he falls first 🏈 no third-act breakup 🏈 open door spice 🏈 flashbacks (two timelines) 🏈 interconnected standalone 🏈 first-person, dual PoVs
Turn of the Tides is the third book in the Whitecap series and a great addition to the series. Presley and Beau's story is a swoonworthy enemies to lovers romance, and such an enjoyable read. I loved how they worked through their past. Presley and Beau were such great characters, and I loved getting to know them.
Beau and Presley have known each other since they were 12. They have had several run-ins during that time. Presley considered him a bully and Beau loved the banter they had going back and forth. Beau is coming back home after his retirement from the NFL and the only thing on his mind is getting his girl. His possessive soul won’t let him settle for anything less than Presley by his side. She’s not going down without a fight.
I’m not sure why this is considered a ‘bully’ romance…like do people realise she hits him back just as hard, if not harder??! Beau is typical stupid male ‘I’ll fix it without telling her’ and she’s typical stupid female ‘why he leave me with no explanation? Guess I won’t confront and ask’ which could ALL BE FIXED WITH ONE CONVERSATION YOU DUMB SHITS! Still loved the enemies to lovers part lol 🥰
I just love a good, arguing/passionate/frustrated with each other main character’s/enemies to lovers/he’s always been in love with her story. Presley and Beau were so explosive, sooo good, I could not put it down!!! I can’t wait for the next one!!! Just gimmeeeeee!!!!
It took me like 2 months to get thru this book which is unheard of for me with a Jessica Prince book. A bully romance with flashbacks may be my kryptonite because this didn't hit for me like her books normally do.
Turn of the Tides is so good! I honestly couldn’t put the book down! I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers! I felt all the emotion in this book from hating characters to fist pumping the air.
When I first learned that Beau was Presley’s high school bully, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about it, but having said that when we delve into more of Beau’s story and get his POV, he became one of the best book boyfriends!
To say they have a rocky history is definitely an understatement. Beau was not the kindest to Presley back then, he gave mixed signals that Presley never understood and it hurt her pretty badly. But with Beau back home after ten years, we learn what drove him away and also explained some of his actions towards Presley. He’s let her get away too many times and now he is ready and determined to win her back and keep her. Unfortunately, Presley does not make it easy for him, she is still big mad and would not let him hurt her again.
I loved their story so much! The banter and chemistry between these two was amazing. The secondary characters, as usual, added so much to their story. Another great read!
Beau & Presley - my heart broke for them lots. Their story is a second chance, that shouldn't have needed a second chance bc they could've been together all this time. Stupid interference by ... well, you'll just have to read, won't ya? 😉
I adored both Beau & Presley, and I liked the way we got to see what was going on with Beau in the past. I wished there was a little more of them being together after they got together! But that's bc they're written so well, and isn't really a complaint. Lol This story was also coming in hot with the 🔥🔥🔥. They have the chemistry down!
There were a couple scenes I loved lots that I can't say anything about bc spoilers! But I think everyone will be cheering when they see those scenes!
The ending is also done sooo well! And the tease for the next book - oooh!! Intrigued!
Beau and Presley were enemies/lovers in high school but it did not end well because of Beau’s abusive/toxic father. Beau returns home after an NFL career and wants to start over. Presley, not so much. At first, Presley is strong and fearless and just a tough woman. But a few uninvited kisses from Beau and commands to have his way, and Presley folds like a chair. Begging for sex and climaxes ensue and Presley loses all her fearless, tough woman vibes. Not very flattering to women.
I love this author but hate this troupe. The same behavior (stalking, not taking no for an answer) could easily be applied to a man a woman could be running from because of abuse. And then to make her beg. Ugh. I finished it because it was well written and like I said I like the author. But this was a hard no for me.
