She’s spent her life in the raised in sheltered care of her grandmother who recently passed, and now has the chance at a new life as the result of being named in a billionaire’s will. Addie arrives at Serenity Ranch and is surprised to see Heath again and to find that as the first inheritor to show up, she receives the deed to the ranch. Heath’s family ranch has been sold by his father, who ran the business to the ground and died shortly after. Now he’s just an employee on his own land. Understandably he’s not happy about that. Even more so now that he’s been informed the new owners will be arriving soon.
The man who bought the ranch is also dead, but he left it in his will to a group of orphans. One of which is our sweet baby angel Adeline.
Adeline was raised by her gran when her parents died, and as a result she’s basically turned into a hermit granny herself, something she wants to break free of bc it’s lonely and she wants a husband and children. Her accepting this inheritance and moving to this town is her first step out of her comfort zone that will hopefully lead to the future she wants.
Unbeknownst to Adeline, the will stipulates that the first orphan to arrive will own the ranch. Which turns out to be her.
Adeline and Heath have the most adorable meet cute at the town’s fall dance. Grumpy Heath is an immediate goner for her, so he’s disappointed when the night ends and he didn’t get her number.
Imagine his surprise when the lawyer arrives with the new owner the next day and it is none other than Adeline. When Adeline understands what’s happened, she feels terrible about taking away their land.
Heath pounces on her guilt and proposes that they marry. In his mind this is genius bc not only will he get his family’s land back, but he’ll be able to lock his woman down. Adeline is immediately, adorably sold on the idea of a husband and children and can’t believe her luck at getting everything she wants in one swoop lol. Gosh she’s such a cutie.
This is a suuuuuper short novella, but it was satisfying and fluffy and cute in all the best ways. Well done Hallie. I knew you had it in you.

Looks like the start of a good series. Adeline lost her mother in a plane crash and lived with her grandmother until she died, then lived in her grandmother's house. She lived mostly alone, shy and not comfortable with making friends. She's always wanted a husband and family, but didn't know how to find someone. Then she found out that a billionaire, Mr. Foster, purchased a ranch and left it (and other things) to the five orphans from the plane crash. The details are a bit of a mystery, but she goes to Guardian Valley to the ranch where she has to live for a year before she can receive the rest of the inheritance.
Heath retired from the Marines only a month previously. When he got home he is stunned to find out that his father had mismanaged the family ranch to the point that he had to sell it to Mr. Foster. He's been very angry about losing his family's legacy. Then his father died in a car accident soon afterwards. Now, Adeline shows up as one of the inheritors of the ranch. In another surprise, because she is the first to arrive, Adeline is the one to inherit the entire ranch. No one knew that "requirement" for inheritance of the ranch. Heath had already met Adeline, though at the time they didn't know who each other was, and he had been attracted to her. So he offers to marry her. This will give her a family and protection, and make sure the ranch stays in Heath's family.
Steam level is HOT. Although, as someone who has basically lived alone or mostly with elderly people (her gran and friends) for 20 years, I would think that Heath's aggressive dirty talk might frighten her. Unless she has been reading books like this, haha!
There are a lot of loose threads and little details left out that I hope will be revealed in future books in the series. I quite look forward to reading more!.

This was a cute quick read that would have been great as a full length novel but felt a little rushed and incomplete. I feel like we barely scratched the surface of these characters and there was so much more we could have explored and learned before getting to the ILU and HEA.
After loosing her parents in her early teens and growing up with her grandmother, Adeline is a shy, introverted young woman. When she inherits a ranch, she’s at loose ends as to what she’ll do with it.
A 20 year military career was supposed to see Heath back home, running the family ranch. Instead he comes home to the news his father lost their legacy and sold the ranch right out from under him.
Heath and Adeline meet under very innocent circumstances but they instantly click. I feel like their meet cute was cut short and missed out on the possibility of giving the MCs a little one on one time without the ranch looming over them.
Once it becomes known that Adeline is inheriting the ranch, their relationship took a less romantic tone than I was expecting. When Heath proposed to Adeline, it was very unromantic. Logical, but unromantic. I also get why the marriage of convenience would appeal to Adeline but that doesn’t mean she didn’t deserve to be wooed, romanced, spoiled a little in the process.
It all works out in the end but it lacked the build up I needed between the MCs and that deeper emotional connection I love when reading a love story.

This was a short steamy novella that sounds like the beginning of a good series. Instant fireworks between Heath and Adeline at a run in at the local town Fall Harvest dance. Only to find out that fate has pushed them together in that Adeline is the one that inherited the ranch that Heath’s father sold out of financial desperation while Heath was in the Marines. Heath came home from the Marines looking forward to taking over the family ranch with his sister Samantha. Keith is not only angry about losing his family legacy but he father also ended up dying in a car accident not long after. Having been an orphan from a plane crash when she was younger, Addie lived with her grandmother and was very sheltered. Finding out that Addie is the one that is taking over the family ranch, Heath proposes to her as he wants this shy girl almost as much as he wants to keep the ranch in the family. Addie is very overwhelmed by the prospect of having to now be responsible for the ranch. However, Addie has always wanted a husband and kids but was always too shy to put herself out there but is very attracted to Heath so she says yes to his proposal.
I would have loved a little more build up between the proposal and the whole wedding - - a sort of time to get to know each other type situation as I would have been concerned that Heath only wanted Addie for her land and not actually for her. A little more “romancing” would have been a welcome addition. But, I look forward to the building of the rest of the series with the characters and hope we see more about Heath and Addie in future books.

Heath just retired from the Marines. He came home to help hs dad on the ranch, only to learn his dad lost the ranch. Then a llittle while after hat his dad passed away from an accident. Then to make matters worse, he finds out that some rich guy bought the ranch but then he passed to and he left it strangers. Heath was just miserable ut his sister dragged him to the town dance. He decided to leave only to see a beautiful girl injure herself. He stopped to help her.
Adeline was twenty nine and so extremely shy. She was raised by her grandmother and never ventured out of the house. Then after her grandmother passed she was notified about getting a ranch. She went into town to see what was going on saw there was a dance and decided to see what was going on but instead she tripped hurt herself only to be rescued by a big strong man. Next thing she knows he is helping her.
The next day her and the Lawyer go to the ranch tht she know owns, only to be greeted by Heath the man that helped her ;ast night. Upset Heath left and went to work around the ranch. Later she was walking around the ranch when Heath let the other ranch hands know that this was his girl. Adeline was scared ecause she never had someone want her or even paid attention to her as she was sheltered.
Heath knew from the moment he saw Adeline that she was going to his wife. Heath wanted to keep the ranch in the family and the only way he could do that would be Marry Adeline. So he proposed marriage to her because in that moment he knew she was going to make him the happiest man alive.

Omg I just loved this read. Adeline comes Montana having inherited a ranch. Little does she know the man she falls in front of is Heaths's legacy that had been sold without his knowledge having been serving his country when it happened. The sparks start crackling when their eyes meet.Heath wonders is it fate or just lust? Can Adeline get over her extreme shyness due to her being raised by her Grandma? Does Heath tell her what she's feeling and risk losing her and will he resent her just getting his family's ranch for free? I TOTALLY recommend this 5⭐++ winner to get the answers to these questions and more. This outstanding and exciting ebook is so fantastic that I couldn't put it dow. I'd give it 30⭐s if I could. It's too good for words. This story is filled with family drama, excitement, loss, sizzling steamy moments, and love. So what do you get when you add the loss of a legacy, loss of loved ones, and a shy city girl? Why you get even more spice than you can handle that you'll need a fire extinguisher to put out the spice. Whew!😁🔥 This amazingly talented author so deserves a standing ovation for her great writing. This tale of sweet Adeline and the Broody Grumpy Heath, tells the story of how a small town ranch in Guardian Valley became the setting for their happily ever after.
Grumpy Heath and his sister Samantha have been let down and impoverished by their father, working to manage the family ranch that they no longer own. Sweet Adeline is the first of 5 children left orphaned and destitute by a plane crash, but on the up and up when they are nominated as the inheritor’s of the ranch in question. And so begins a new series of short, comfy yet snazzy novellas that showcases the lives and unexpected love of an array of characters that I am keen to get to know!
In this story we see and hear of Heath’s military backstory, his father’s abandonment and his grim reaper scowls being provoked by his sister Samantha’s sunshiny attitude. We are also treated to Addie’s kind-hearted yet painfully shy life and the uncomfortable story of caring for her relatives till being orphaned and finding her forever home in the wilds of Montana.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the respite this hour of reading has gifted me - a story with few typos and grammatical issues that is well-written and packs a wallop for its concise nature.

Shy and uncertain, she’s mortified to find that, by being first to arrive, she has received a ranch that she doesn’t know how to run with a cowboy she’s more than a little attracted to as employee and ex-owner.
When Heath offers to marry her, because he’s very attracted, and run the ranch, she jumps gratefully at the offer. There is a mutual attraction - maybe they can build to something more?
This short story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, contemporary romance. I enjoyed Heath’s ruggedness and energy. I enjoyed Adeline’s personal growth and willingness to reach out for what she wanted. I enjoyed their attraction and intimate moments. I enjoyed the world building and am looking forward to the rest of the series.

As for this story there is a sweetie of an h that hasn't had any kind of a life, rather a lonely one. Then she meets the man of her dreams...
She had been left alone and kept to herself. Now that she was here for an inheritance of sorts maybe she could have a chance at a real life here?
And yes she did! Right from the start this man was smitten with her and that is just how I like 'em! They are in an interesting situation and I wished it were drawn out more because that would have been so amazing and considering the conflict that could have been more intense. The two are dreamy together and have a lot of chemistry. His sis seems to be next up and I cannot wait to find out what is going to happen to her. Montana Protector is book 1 in the Heirs of Guardian Valley series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, opposites-attract, curvy girl gets her cowboy romance. Heath is a 42 year old hunky, grumpy, retired marine who has returned home to find the family ranch has been sold. Adeline (Addie) is a 29 year old shy, quirky, curvy virgin. The two meet when Addie literally falls into Heath at a city event. The two are attracted to each other, but Heath never expects that Adeline is the new owner of the ranch. She admits to knowing nothing about running one. Heath proposes marriage, and she agrees. Then his family keeps land in family, and he can run the ranch. I loved this couple. Heath was a big old teddy bear for Addie, and Addie was so akward and deserving of love. They had amazing chemistry, and we got a great HEA. I'm looking forward to this new series. Hallie always delivers great short and steamy stories!.

This story was well written and entertaining. The characters were really likable with interesting backgrounds, so I found myself invested in their happiness. Heath and Addie have wild chemistry together. The only problem for me in this story was that the speed with which they got engaged did not ring true. It felt way too abrupt, and how was Addie to know whether Heath wanted her for who she was or just for her land, which was previously his family's. I guess she's lucky it was for the former reason. But I feel that it would have been more believable if there had been perhaps one more chapter about them dating. It was still a good story, and now I am looking forward to Samantha's story, because I really like her.

I loved Addie! She was a shy introvert who had little experience in life itself. She had been sheltered her whole life. When she inherited a ranch, she decided it was time for a fresh start. Heath is a grump. He just lost his family ranch and does not know what his next move is.
After their meet cute, the following day they meet again. Addie inherited Heath’s family ranch. Because Heath is so taken with Addie, he cannot even be mad about it. Trying to help each other, Heath proposes a marriage of convenience. But is it just that - a convenience or can they find love there?
I found this short book to be incredibly amazing. All of the characters were likable and well developed. This author does an excellent job of trying everything together! A must read for all!.

Heath is an ex Marine who finds out that his family’s ranch was sold and that his dad had passed away. Both Heath and his sister are still living on the ranch. The ranch was purchased by a gentleman and was provided to Adeline as a gift as she was the first to answer the summons to come to Guardian Valley, Montana. She has no idea how to run the ranch and is hoping that Heath and his sister will help her. Heath suggests a marriage of convenience to Adeline that way the ranch can stay with the family as well as Adeline can have her dream of a husband, family, and children.

They meet unbeknownst to each other as to who the other is. They have a connection. So, Heath wanting to keep his family ranch in the family. As well as feeling a connection with Adeline offers to marry her. Adeline wanting to be married agrees.
Other then feeling lacking in the whooing/romance department this was a good story.

Heath has retired from the Marines and returned home to the family’s ranch only to find that his father sold it. Now, not only has Heath lost his home and the ranch, he’s lost his father. Adeline is a shy curvy girl who was brought up by her grandmother after her parents died in an airplane crash. She unexpectedly finds herself as one of several heirs to an estate and decides it’s time to spread her wings and get what she’s always wanted. A husband and family. A home. This was a wonderful start to this new series. Adeline and Heath were great together with a chemistry that could be felt from their first meeting. Heath was an older, grumpy guy with a protective instinct and Adeline was the innocent sweet curvy girl to quiet his inner turmoil. I received an arc copy of this book.

Montana Protector is the first book of a new series and it is very intriguing. Heath Manning is in a tough situation, he retired from the Marines hoping to return to his family ranch. What he returns to is a ranch sold to a billionaire and the death of his father. He was hoping to run the ranch and is now working, on it trying to bring it back. Enter Adeline Croup, she is the lucky one who inherits the ranch. The first person she meets when she gets to town is none other than Heath. The chemistry between the two of them is sizzling so he offers marriage! Easy solution he gets to have his ranch and she has someone to run it.

I loved Montana Protector Heirs of Guardian Valley. Heath is angry, he has been since he came hime and found out his father dad sold the family home. Now some girl is here and she’s the new owner, when he realizes it’s his Adeline, he makes a decision to make her his. Adeline has no one since her gran died, she’s tired of being a shy homebody, inheriting this ranch changes everything along with meeting Heath. Can these two find HEA together when they are forced together? I loved this storyline and the characters. I can’t wait for the next book and I would definitely recommend this book.

I loved the concept of this book and I loved the characters of Adeline and Heath. They were both great and although their meeting was somewhat under unusual circumstances their attraction was mutual and instantaneous. I loved Heath as your typical, rought ex marine and he was not very happy to hear that his father had sold the family’s ranch and Adeline has inherited said Ranch with one huge stipulation. Although this was a novella it still had some very steamy and sweet moments between Heath and Adeline and you will fall in love with them both.

Heath's father sold the family farm to save himself from bankruptcy. Heath now only works as an employee at the desired farm. Adeline is one of the heirs who has to spend a year on the farm before the inheritance is hers. Adeline is an extremely shy young woman who dreams of having her own family. Heath agrees to marry her, and so they both get what they want, Heath the inheritance, and Adeline the family. But maybe that marriage is not pretend at all.
