My quest brought me to Cornwall Island where I discovered that Maggie had mysteriously vanished.
I was driven to unearth the truth that connected my past and present. My search seemed to create more questions than it answered. With each step, the mystery deepened.
While confronting the chilling truth about my sister's fate, I navigated the looming shadows and the island’s ominous secrets while evading the sinister forces that threatened my life as well.

An interesting story, twins separated at birth and an imminent reunion 24 years later that didn’t materialize The book described Cornish scenery and the mystery started out well. But the progress and steps in finding her twin seemed a little immature and unrealistic, which is why I only gave 3 stars.
This left more unanswered questions eg What happened to the woman in the wardrobe? How did the police detective not know the location of the flowers?

Vee has her whole world turned upside down when she accidentally overheard a conversation between her parents. She realises she was stolen at birth. Not only that but she discovers by researching she has a twin, Maggie. They get in touch and decide to meet but when Vee arrives at Cornwall island Maggie is nowhere to be found. Distraught Vee embarks on on a quest to find the truth of what has happend to Maggie and where she is. But the truth is more gruesome than she could ever have thought. This was a brilliant and very creepy story. For some reason though and I've read a few by this author I found the dialogue and descriptions overly repetitive, every paragraph it seemed it was repeating things from the one before. I really felt that it was to eke out the story to make it of a certain, required length. That's how it felt at times, it was painfully over descriptive, I've never read anything so heavy on description before and it totally bogged down a wonderful story and it was such a shame. I can't fault the story at all, it was really original the plot elements were great, but sadly the writing very much weighed down the movement and pace.
While I can appreciate that this is a well written story with a strong female lead, I have to admit that I just did not care for the style of writing. It is a different kind of mystery as the lead character, Vee, discovers that she has a twin sister and she then devotes her life to finding her. The search takes her to Cornwall Island, but her twin fails to show up for their scheduled meeting. Thus starts the search to find Maggie and what has happened to her. There are interesting twists and turns that lead to a surprising conclusion. I can recommend the story because it is an interesting tale of family, friends and fate.
This book was very suspenseful, and it presented an interesting storyline. A young woman discovers that she is a twin, stolen at birth. A DNA test leads her to contact information from her twin sister, who appears to respond enthusiastically and invites her for a visit. However, the found twin has disappeared, and the rest of the book is devoted to searching for her. It was well-written, although dark, and, in the end, the mystery was resolved. I think readers of suspense novels will really enjoy this book.
Although the premise sounded promising I just did not care for this book. I did not like the style of writing and found the story itself too wordy. I like a straight forward telling of a story and the descriptions of things just seemed to go on and on and on. I found it difficult to read for this and the over use of certain words within the story. I still say it had promise, I just wish it had been fulfilled. Veronica has discovered her life is a lie. when she goes to meet her only family member left her twin sister is missing. She knows something is wrong and works with police to find answers. Her search leads her down a winding path fraught with danger and frustration. While I figured it out faster than I hoped I was still left second guessing myself. Great story and conclusion.

Finding out you were kidnapped at birth is just the start of Vee's shake ups. Everything she has built her life on has been a lie. Vee wants answers and the search for those answers leads to Cornwall Island, and a sister she has found and lost again. Ms Avory is very skilled at crafting mysteries that drag you in and keep you guessing to the end. I loved her description of the island and the people. Fix a drink and dive in, you won't regret it!

A fascinating story of Veronica as she learns she has a twin sister and connects with her, only to find her missing when she goes to meet her. Intrigue and scary moments. I enjoyed reading this book.

This small town mystery kinda dragged for me, I didn't really get into the tone of voice in this story and felt like there was a lot of just garving over information. I didn't feel this book like some of this author's other stories, this one felt a lot different and I just didn't get into it like some of the other of their stories I've read.
Veronica finds herself involved in a mystery within a mystery when the truth of her birth is revealed. The journey toward finding the truth only resulted in more questions, which brought her closer to danger. It was an interesting read.

Veronica finds out she was stolen as a baby and has a twin sister so when she travels to meet her she is missing but she does not stop until the killer is caught a good suspense story
There's definitely some twists and some twisted stuff but it makes for a good story. I was pretty intrigued by the story. Everything involving Maggie. Good for some thrills for sure.
