Goodbye Baby Blue

Rate this book
On a chill November day in Sheffield, Bobby Stephens, an eight-year-old boy is kidnapped. That same day, in Bolton, two men have a tense meeting in Heywood Park. In Liverpool, a woman breaks into a house to search its contents. All are strands in a tantalising mystery - and it seems to Chief Inspector Sandy Woodings that Margaret Stephens, Bobby's mother, knows more than she is willing to tell him.
As the hunt proceeds, the paucity of evidence becomes alarming. Woodings feels personally involved: his own son, Gerry, is of the same age as Bobby. And Woodings' marriage is on the rocks. Then a bizarre note arrives, addressed to Margaret Stephens ... and the murders begin.

With his perceptive eye for background and character, Frank Ryan has created a thriller masterpiece. In a violent cat-and-mouse game, Woodings finds himself no longer the hunter but the hunted, his own life in constant danger as he begins to unravel a monstrous and terrifying secret with roots that spread far from the North of England and reach back into the turbulent sixties.

Hi!

I write epic fantasy novels, which began with a series of four books, These were, The Three Powers, which began with The Snowmelt River, and continued with The Tower of Bones, The Sword of Feimhin and ended with The Return of the Arinn.

I was lucky enough for my books to have gathered excellent reviews from various sources including the British Fantasy Society and Starburst Magazine, which helped to push them into the top ten bestseller list of epic fantasy novels on amazon.

More recently I began a new epic fantasy trilogy, which began with epic advantures of Eefa and Magio, who are The Twins of Moon, which got great reviews. It was followed by The Sea of Stars, which will soon be competed with publication of the third and final book, the title of which will be released soon, and which figures dragons in a major and very exciting way. All of these are published in kindle and in paperback.

You can find out more at www.frankpryan.com.

It was wonderful for the Twins of Moon Trilogy to be reviewed on Amazon and available for sales through swiftpublishers. It was wonderful to have it reviewed on Amazon as Tolkein for a younger reader. Though the twins do mature to adult by the end of the series.

Great to have another fabulous wraparound cover by the renowned fantasy artist Mark Salwowski! More at my dedicated websites
www.frankpryan.com and www.swiftpublishers.com.

The final book in the trilogy is likely to be available by late 2023 or early 2024. I'll be sure to keep folks who are interested informed as to when it is coming out.

Do write to me if you want to know anything of what is happening.

Cheers!

Frank

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

A boy is kidnapped in England. The police are on it. The chief policeman has a son about the kidnap-ees age. It seems the mother knows more than she's telling. It all goes back to the old home town.

Not bad, but doesn't really come together at the end.

This story does get a bit confusing at times but towards the end I couldn't put it down. I wanted to know how it ended and I wasn't disappointed. The description of characters and places were incredibly in depth to the point I could very easily picture the images in my head. I could see the snow blanketing everything in sight. I could see the steam arising from the coffee cup held in a cold and numb hand. I would read this book again.

Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways for the opportunity to own my own copy of the book.

The first chapter had me hooked; a terrifying scenario, every mother’s nightmare their child abducted. Inspector Sandy Woodings instigates the search for the child and the man who took him. He becomes embroiled in the mysterious disappearance; his life revolves around the case. Nothing is as it seems the cryptic messages, the response of the child’s mother. This is a thriller of the first order a exciting and compelling read. I was very pleased to receive this as a Goodreads Giveaway.

Thank you to Frank P. Ryan and Goodreads.com I won this book in a Giveaway.

I really really really wanted to like this story. It has so much potential aside from the spelling errors in it. Unfortunately, some of the transitions did not make sense to me and I struggled with how the detectives figured things out. Also, I am still not positive of the "why did it happen" part.

I really liked this book in a lot of ways. It held my interest, and I wanted to finish it. But for some reason, it was also very confusing to me throughout. I think I caught everything as far as the storyline. I am not sure if it is actually confusing, or if it was just hard for me to connect with though. It was an interesting read.

Won this in a Goodreads Giveaway. A little difficult trying to follow the story line. Too much of internal musing as it was that detracted from the story, rather than making things clearer.

Interesting tale, but I found the prose overly verbose and sometimes too cryptic. Plus no character development left me indifferent to all involved (except Bobby, of course, who I was rooting for).
