Skye and Rami’s story was super swoony and full of emotions!

I adore this series, it’s so romantic and has the sweetest characters and found family! Skye and Rami’s story wasn’t any different - being full of sweet moments, first times and cute dates. These two made me smile a lot, and I liked how Skye kind of just crashed into Rami’s yard and life. They shared an instant connection, and things slowly developed from there.

There was just so much mutual respect and understanding in their story, and I loved their slow burn romance. Rami didn’t have much of a filter, which was both amusing and endearing, and E.M. Lindsey did an amazing job with his character. He and Skye fit so well together, and there was an intensity to their romance which made it easy to feel engrossed right away. They could fully be themselves with each other, and the support and acceptance between them was exceptionally written and portrayed.

Touch in Excess was a low angst, super sweet and swoony story with fantastic characters. Skye had me melting with every ‘sweetheart’, and I loved the possessiveness they felt for each other. There were many heartfelt moments, with a lot of open and honest communication and vulnerability, and the love these two had for each other was just breathtakingly beautiful.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Touch in Excess is the fifth book in E.M. Lindsey’s Carnal Tower series and gives us the story for Skye, the sin of Gluttony. I have really been enjoying this series, and this story takes an interesting approach in that both Skye and Rami are in the sex industry. For Skye, being a Sin is a job he loves and a long-term career, while Rami plans to only do cam work long enough to earn the money to pay for his house. But it gives the guys a shared understanding and connection that adds an interesting element to the story.

I really enjoy this series and liked getting back into this world. Skye and Rami’s story is warm and sweet and a nice way to reconnect with the series.

Well I binge read this in one day. I have been highly anticipating Skye’s book and this was not a let down!

I think it was interesting to have Skye’s story because Skye began losing his hearing later in his life and so he is still adjusting to his own new normal and to be paired with someone who is more fluent in ASL because his brother is Deaf I think was a good choice on the author because it added a little bit of further support for Skye.

I liked Rami a lot. He was so endearing and I think matched with Skye really well. I think he was under a lot of pressure and I liked how Skye was supportive of what he was doing and didn’t try to talk him out the way he wanted to earn his money.

Also, I just want to mention how much I love that none of the Carnal Towers men stop their jobs once they fall in love. I feel like a lot of books with sex workers always quit as soon as they find someone and I think it’s just nice to have this series be different in that it takes a chance on what that communication needs to look like for a couple when someone may be in that profession.

It feels like this book was too classy for me? Like it’s odd to say that a smutty book about a man with two d*cks is too classy, but it felt like this should be read by a middle aged woman drinking a glass of red wine after a long day at the office, you know? Maybe it was the use of the term “his lover” all the time. Anyway, good writing and I loved the instalove (fork found in kitchen) but the spice and vibes just didn’t 100% hit for me.

I went into Touch in Excess hoping for an engaging romance, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The book’s blurb promised more angst than it actually delivered, making the story feel uneventful and, frankly, boring. Everything was too perfect, too sweet, and too unbelievable.

One of my biggest issues was how Autism was portrayed through Rami’s character. Instead of feeling like a natural and well-developed part of his identity, it came across as a surface-level trait that didn’t add much to his character beyond making him seem awkward. It felt like the book was trying to include Autism for the sake of diversity rather than actually representing it in a meaningful way. There are far better stories that handle Autism with depth and respect—this one just wasn’t it.

The romance between Rami and Skye was also hard to buy into. The “insta-love” was completely unrealistic, and moments that were meant to be emotional just felt forced. I especially couldn’t wrap my head around the moment where Rami suddenly says, “I feel like a sugar baby,” after Skye starts paying him—it made no sense in the context of their relationship.

Another strange aspect was Rami’s “disability” (yes, in quotation marks) regarding his downstairs region. It didn’t add anything meaningful to the story and only left me feeling weirded out. It was unnecessary and out of place.

The only aspect I somewhat enjoyed was Skye’s interaction with the rest of the Sins. Those moments felt more natural and added some depth to his character.

Overall, Touch in Excess missed the mark for me. With an unrealistic romance, a poorly handled Autism storyline, and an odd subplot that felt more off-putting than engaging, I just couldn’t connect with it. It had potential, but in the end, it wasn’t a story I could enjoy.

Touch in Excess is the fifth book in E.M. Lindsey's The Carnal Tower series. Although it can be read as a standalone, I think this series is best enjoyed in order to get the full effect. Here's what you can expect from Skye and Rami:

💜 MM contemporary romance
💜 Third person dual point of view
💜 Guaranteed happily ever after
💜 Shy camboy with a "double" secret behind his zipper
💜 Sin of Excess who has never indulged in his own desires
💜 Sweet dates
💜 Lots of hand-holding
💜 Online auctions
💜 A possessive, touch-him-and-pay-for-it main character
💜 Autism representation
💜 Hearing loss representation
💜 Found family
💜 A Hell-themed legal brothel

As always, ensure you review the content and trigger warnings to decide if this book is right for you. Note that this list of warnings and triggers may be incomplete., Please take care of yourself while reading.

The Carnal Tower is one of my favourite series of all time (and so underrated, seriously, please consider checking it out) and I am always excited when Lindsey gifts us with a new installation! Skye has obviously been a secondary character in the first four books, but he always seemed a little closed-off from his fellow sins so I have been patiently waiting for his story. Well, it's here and I was absolutely not disappointed!

Skye and Rami were absolutely perfect. I definitely found that there was a lot less angst in Touch In Excess compared to the other four books in the series, and I was totally okay with it. Neither main character has had the easiest time in the world, and I absolutely adored the safety and happiness they found with one another. E.M. Lindsey is such a talented author, and I appreciate the research and sensitivity reading that went into portraying both Rami's Lebanese-American experience as well as his Autism. Lindsey does an incredible job with representation in their books, and Skye and Rami were both such diverse characters. They faced challenges in their relationship that many of us won't understand, but they always made it work for them and I really did appreciate that. Their meet-cute was actually perfect, and when the blurb said that Skye "literally" falls into the arms of the most gorgeous man he's ever seen, I didn't realize how literal that would actually be but it was definitely a moment of levity (it also reminded me of Stone and August meeting in Shades of Lust). The conflict in this book, and it wasn't so much a conflict - more of obstacles to happily ever after, was quite refreshing and I enjoyed watching them try to navigate it. There was never a doubt about their feelings, but their happily ever after just felt so good. They were absolutely adorable together and it was one of my favourite February reads by far. Seeing Rami with his family was really special, too, as he reconnected with them. I hope one day Rami will feel comfortable around the other Sins, too, as they are such a unique found family. Waiting On Forever is my favourite book in the series, so we got some lovely Jet and Taylor content as Jet and Skye are quite close. I appreciated them openly talking about what it's like dating while doing sex work, and that the topic was never shamed. Rami's "double" secret was also never dwelled upon, and it was something I'd never read before but treated with the utmost care and respect.

I love this unique series, and each book is refreshing and honest with E.M. Lindsey's trademark writing and representation. I'll be patiently waiting until they gift us with the next The Carnal Tower book! I like the time jumps in this series because we get to see how all the main characters in the previous books are doing. We don't know Avan, Mauro, or Onyx very well yet and I'm looking forward to meeting them in their own stories.

Skye & Rami
This was an incredibly beautiful story! Admittedly, I haven't read any of the other available Carnal Tower series, so you can bet I'll be back-tracking to catch myself up, but this story was so fantastic, it was a perfect introduction to the series for me. I loved everything about Skye & Rami. They were instantly and delightfully compatible with one another, and perfect with their own eccentricities.

I really love the balanced level of respect each of the MCs has for one another. Skye is very cautious not to push Rami into anything he might now want, and ensures everything they do is on Rami's timeline. And Rami is always ensuring he's getting his conversational points across to Skye, when Skye can't hear him well, without a hint of frustration or impatience. They're a very evenly-matched couple, and neither sits "higher" than the other in any manner. Their relationship clearly sits on a stable level of friendship that is boosted by their attraction and physical connection with one another. The support the couple receives from the other "Sins" and their partners in the Tower is also incredibly sweet. I love wonderful Found Family collections.

Skye & Rami's slow-burn love was a charming journey, and I was glad their relationship was also very low-angst. It was nice to read a story where I didn't feel I needed to be on the edge of my seat with each new revelation. That said, this story kept me highly entertained with engaged because of its sweetness and the caring displayed among all of the characters. There was never a moment where I thought the characters ever made any kind of detrimental (if temporary) mistake like so many stories tend to have these days. As soon as Skye & Rami meet, we're pulled into their love story, and get the wonderful experience and opportunity to watch its pure evolution.

I absolutely loved Touch in Excess! It was as fantastic as any and all E.M. Lindsey novels I've read to date! I will definitely go back and read through the previous books in the series, and I look forward to the stories for the last two Sins and their love.

I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

If anyone has followed my reviews, you know I'm a big fan of E.M.'s writing. I love their writing style and their ability to write very realistic characters with real disabilities that are written so respectfully. They always make sure to do their research and that level of dedication and commitment always shines through. This book was no exception, it's absolutely fantastic!

I've been eagerly waiting for the next addition to the Sins series and I'm so happy that this one is finally here. It was well worth the wait. Skye is an absolute sweetheart, he's confident as his Sin persona but outside of that he's unsteady. Especially with Rami, he feels safe with the man and that scares him... Throughout this story we see him grow and open up, and its such a beautiful journey to go on with him!

My brother has autism and while I haven't been diagnosed.. I have some similarities to both my brother's version of autism and Rami's.. I saw a lot of parallels between Rani and my brother and I really appreciate the place of understanding that E.M. wrote Rami's character from. What E.M. said about everyone's journey being different, and how multiple people can have autism but can have different experiences, triggers, hyper fixations, etc... That really rings true and it's so refreshing to see that depicted so well in a book.

Rami is so precious! His bluntness is refreshing and I absolutely understand why Skye fell for him. They have their struggles with figuring how they both fit with each other but they communicate openly and they find a way to make their relationship work for them. I adore both Rami and Skye, this story is absolutely beautiful and fantastic. If you're wondering if this can be read as a standalone it can be read that way. However, I wouldn't recommend it.. You'll get WAY more enjoyment of you read the whole series, you'll also get a better understanding of what the Carnal Tower is, how it started, and you'll get to know and better understand the side characters that make appearances in this story.

I absolutely love this series and couldn’t wait to read Skye’s story. What I truly love about this series is how what these characters do for a living is the least important thing about them. Even though Skye is the sin of Gluttony, in his personal life he is quite lonely. He craves having someone to just be with, without sex being an issue. When he quite literally falls at Rami’s feet, he is taken with his good looks and brutal honesty. Rami is definitely not on the hunt for a man but he can’t help but want to see Skye again. Both of these men have secrets that they are afraid to share but it doesn’t take long for their truths to come out. Rami was such a delightful character. His lack of filter was refreshing and the way he was able to communicate with Skye through sign language or by visual cues made it easier for them to get to know each other. When Skye learns of Rami’s secret, it is truly a non issue. Skye is more than happy to take things as slow as Rami needs. He finds it refreshing to just be with someone without the expectation of it ending up in bed. I loved how quickly these two found themselves having feelings for each other and how possessive they were, while at the same time not being concerned with their “work” responsibilities. The interactions between Rami and Skye were hot and very honest. I loved how supportive they were and how they knew when to back off and when to push forward.

Skye’s Story: The Carnal Tower’s Gluttony follows Skye, who is grappling with Meniere's Disease, leading to vertigo and hearing loss that disrupts his daily life. Despite his condition, Skye longs for the romance he sees others experiencing, even though he doubts it’s possible for him. His world shifts when he literally falls into Rami, a beautiful man with a hidden secret. Skye quickly disappears, swept away by the unexpected turn of events.

Rami, on the other hand, is struggling financially to keep his beloved house. His art isn’t enough to cover his bills, so he secretly takes on another way to make money. He also deals with being on the autism spectrum, living with a body and a mind that don’t conform to societal expectations. Though he’s comfortable with himself, he knows many people aren't. That is, until he meets Skye.

The story highlights the deep connection between Skye and Rami, both of whom find understanding and acceptance in each other. Rami is endearing for his honesty, openness, and the way he embraces his happiness without being harsh or fake. Their bond is built on mutual appreciation for one another, despite their differences. The two complement each other beautifully, creating a heartwarming relationship that celebrates both vulnerability and authenticity.

Skye is a luxury prostitute who has Ménière's disease. He is slowly losing his hearing, and suffers from severe attacks of vertigo. One day he falls and hurts himself in front of Rami's house, and everything changes. Rami is autistic, a talented sculptor, and also shows off his unique anatomy on camera to pay the taxes on the old house he inherited from his grandfather.

I really liked how these two looked so different on the surface, coming from very different cultures, but still had vital parts of themselves in common. Great communication most of the time - there's lots of insecurities, sure, but that's not the same thing.

However! Skye plays the part of Gluttony in the tower's collection of seven deadly sins, but I never really figured out what that entails. Why Gluttony? It's kinda vague, except that it's often physically taxing (there's a mention of an MMA fighter who wanted to be the one subdued,) and then there's this description:

“They come in with expectations. Being Gluttony, they tend to want a lot of indulgence. Or they want to be indulged. They want it slow and heavy. They want it to feel like our time together is an actual eternity and it’s going to go on forever and ever.”

I might have spent too much time trying to figure it out. Others may think his role is perfectly clear.

Gluttony's story is my favourite so far

Skye and Rami's story was so sweet and gentle and a pleasure to read. There have been things in the other books that made my rating four stars but this is definitely a five.
Skye works hard as Gluttony at the Carnal Tower but as Skye, he doesn't have much for himself except the love and friendship of his fellow Sins. Rami is struggling to make ends meet and finds it hard to make friends. Life isn't straightforward for either of them.
When they meet, it's instant attraction but there's so much more too. Skye likes Rami just as he is, Rami feels comfortable in Skye's presence, and neither wants the other to change, a precious gift to both of them. There's no angst between them, honest communication always, just acceptance and love.
I loved seeing Skye with the other Sins, always a pleasure to catch up with them and their partners.
I love E.M.'s disability rep. I always feel myself empathising with them rather than feeling sorry for them. They show how debilitating ill health can be but without pathos or labouring the point, just showing how their characters cope on a daily basis.

My new favourite Sin

I now have a new favourite Sin couple!

I just loved this. It has similar vibes to Stone & August's book (Shades of Lust, book 1 in the series), and it was marvellous to get the autistic rep of Rami's character.

I also appreciated that, whilst his diphallia is the focus of Rami's camming, it is not fetishised here and is just an aspect of who his is, that has less impact on him than being autistic or feeling like the disappointment of his (loving) family.

The hard of hearing and Deaf rep was, as expected from EM Lindsey, brilliant, showing nuance without ever labouring a point.

There was less of a focus on Skye's professional "Sin" persona than some of the earlier books, but I didn't feel that this was an issue at all, having read the series in order.

In this, you'll find:
💜MM Contemporary Romance
💜Deadly Sins themed legal brothel
💜Hard of hearing Sexworker going Deaf
💜Lebanese-American Autistic Cam-boy Virgin
💜Diphallia
💜Meniere's Disease
💜Lebanese food
💜Found family
💜Inherited debt
💜Mention of religious abuse in secondary character's family
💜A HEA

just what each other needed.

This was Gluttony’s story. Aka Skye, one of the men of the Carnal Tower. Apart from the found family he has with the other guys at the CT, Skye is starting to feel lonely as the others find their partners. But they say, love happens when you least expect it and so when he’s out running by his favourite beach his vertigo kicks in and he ends up unexpectedly meeting the owner of his favourite house!

Rami is autistic and has a few other secrets he holds close but I love how they both have an instant connection and start a beautiful slow burn story. They have more things in common than they realise and I love watching them grow into each other and face problems together. Skye was so good for Rami but then again Rami was good for Skye too.

Really enjoyed catching up with some of the characters from previous books also. even though it’s not necessary to have read them first, it just makes it more enjoyable.

I've been a huge fan of the Carnal Tower series for a long time, and I was delighted to see that this book would be featuring Skye! I loved every interaction between him and Rami -- they felt like such real people to me. Rami being so open and blunt in his communication style definitely brought me to laughter quite a few times along with Skye; he's such a charming character. Skye's insecurities about whether he was doing the right things for Rami also felt like such true experiences and feelings.

It's always lovely returning to the relationships of the Tower, and this was no exception. If you're new to the series, you can jump right in -- but if you've been following it, you get to check back in with old favorite MC's and see how they're doing. It's a delightful read, would recommend!

I received an ARC edition and this is my honest review.

Gah! Love them.

They are such a beautiful pair and it’s a gorgeous story of acceptance and love.

I adore Rami, he’s a great person, so strong and determined. And I love the world that opens up to him when Skye falls into his life.

And Skye is so warm and thoughtful. And together they are both tender and hot. And I love the path their story follows.

The found family of this series is so utterly fantastic, no matter how different they all are, but they treat each other with so much love and understanding. I swoon so hard for all of them.

Skye is Gluttony, one of the Sins working at the Tower. He's also a shy man battling a chronic disease that's only getting worse, wrestling with what he wants from his life. He loves being a Sin- but he's hoping there is more out there for him.

Rami is a struggling artist who uses his unique body to help keep himself afloat. He's certainly not looking for love - heck, he's not sure if he's even worth loving - but when Skye literally falls in his lap, he can't resist the man behind the Sin.

Ahhh- this book was great! Super sweet MCs that you just have to love, a great low-angst story line, with enough spice and cuddles to keep every romance reader happy. Truly hoping we see more of the Sins and their partners again soon!

This series has one of the best depictions of found family- the Sins show up for each other, which has been a highlight throughout the series. The two main characters are absolutely lovely, like it’s impossible not to want the best for Rami and Skye. This author is the best at delivering amazing and dimensional characters and I enjoyed the slower burn of their relationship. I also thought the chemistry between Rami and Skye was epic and authentic. Personally, I could have done without the auction business, but I always love spending time with these characters and this has plenty of cameos from the Carnal Tower crew.

I really enjoyed this story. I enjoyed that it was not all a bunch of spicy sex times. I enjoyed getting to know the main characters, Rami, and Skye and seeing how they worked things out together. Seeing the way autism, which was so well written really made Rami come to life for me as someone who lives with a family with varying degrees of autism. It was nice to see the reality of this and how it can make relationships hard. Seeing how Skye was learning to live with his increased hearing loss and his vertigo and how they worked things out so well for the two of them was a wonderfully satisfying story.

I always love to see how much sweetness is in this series. With topics that could easily be throw-away smut, we never go there (don't make that assume its not spicy - I simply mean it's not PWP) . The representation feels researched and authentic, the found family closeness is great, and nothing is fetish-ized.

I loved the way Rami always said what he meant and how they both respected each others decisions about work and life. Overall with the series seeing the Tower guys aging and thinking about futures is really sweet. For an interconnected series it's the perfect balance of checking in on other characters vs having the new MCs stories.

Skye & Rami: Skye is losing his hearing, Rami is trying to make ends meet. Meeting accidentally, an attraction is instant but both have secrets. I’m so glad the secrets came out sooner than later and that’s what made this book a joy to read. How they came together, open and honest, as if Rami could be anything else. Accepting one another, supporting and loving. Skye found his special person and Rami is a rare jewel who finds his home with Skye. Such a good book, in a series that keeps showing what acceptance and love is really all about.

A great addition to this series! Rami and Skye are so perfect for each other! They have such a strong chemistry right from the start. They each have their own insecurities but they communicate so well. I absolutely adore how they respect one another and are so considerate and supportive they are of one another and their work which didn’t cause any problems between them. These two were just the sweetest! This was such an enjoyable story and I highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book

Since Skye is Gluttony, one of the Sins in the Tower in this series, carnal abilities are his job. He is thrilled when he meets Rami who is celibate because Rami has a secret, several. They both want to be liked for themselves and are delighted by just being with each other. This book is very open, descriptive and honest in Rami's innocence and Skye's reality. It is a take your time relationship that is all the sweeter for the wait. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

I have loved all the “Sins” in the Carnal Tower series. Skye is our last single sin and falls into the lap of his true love. Remi is on the autistic scale and has other secrets to overcome. Skye has physical challenges he is working through and Remi has the skills to help him through. Once Skye discovers Remi’s secrets he embraces them with an open mind and total acceptance. I enjoy the way EM Lindsey writes her main characters with either physical or mental challenges. I love that true love always conquers any obstacle put in its way. I highly recommend this book. Enjoy!

Swoon worthy. This being the fifth story is a little different from the rest. Although there is plenty of heat it's eased into. Not necessarily hot and heavy. But you get to swoon over the characters as they build a relationship before the need to hop into bed together. And as always, EM Lindsey provides character development that makes you understand their whole selves. Whether it be a body dysphoria or the loss of hearing, Skye and Rami accept each other wholly. I love all the very different dynamics from all the sins and look forward to how this series will continue.

4.25 stars. A particularly touching low angst, slowly growing relationship. The way both MCs accepted and supported each other's struggles and experiences all the way through the entire book was amazing. As always, this author excels in writing disability and chronic illness representations, in this case, with the addition of one MC with a very different cultural background. I haven't had the chance to read the previous books, but that wasn't really a problem for me. The positivity about sex workers is also great.

This was my first Carnal Tower book, and it was so good! I loved both Skye and Rami, their individual struggles with wanting to be loved yet thinking they probably never would. Then how they fit so well together, both loving all aspects of each other’s lives. And Skye’s reaction to finding out about Rami’s physical difference, not making a big deal out of it. It was just very heartwarming to me. Low angst, high heat, HEA.

I think I say this in every EM Lindsey review, but it bears repeating. They have this incomparable talent for writing characters that are differently abled and I always learn something. It may be simple human compassion but isn’t that the point? Skye and Rami are both individuals that have something unique about them and together they find acceptance- this story is not only well done but entertaining and incredibly sexy. Love the Carnal Tower series!
