Heaven St. Claire
Heaven's life is starting (again) at twenty-five. Within a span of six months, she's lost the two people who mean the most to her, which means she's left to navigate the world on her own. Something she's never had to do. A chance encounter leads to a proposition she didn't see coming, but maybe it's exactly what she needs.

Nicolai Wyatt
Nicolai is thirty and has it all. Except the thing he's craved his entire life. Nothing has turned out the way he predicted. No one can see or begin to understand the loneliness that runs bone deep. He's never known what it was like to navigate the world with the right one by his side. Until a chance encounter leads to an impulsive proposition. He never expects her to agree, but maybe she's exactly what he needs.

absolutely heaven sent

Nothing could’ve prepared me for how I fell in love with Heaven and Nico. Literally nothing. Their story was included grief, growth, healing, getting rid of self sabotage, and creating boundaries all in the midst of watching them fall in love. Idk who is cutting onions in here at midnight, but they need to stop immediately

I enjoyed the plot a some of the pace. I really like Malakai. I would love to see a book with more of him and his dad and their relationship. How was he treated compared to Nicolai.

Nic and Heaven could have had a bit more growth before they deeply fell at least from her. Just kind felt all of a sudden she liked him.

I just kind of felt like parts were missing. Why not an ending scene with therapist to show growth? What was the point of the father’s influence? Was the mother going to leave him or she just said what she said to say it? Did the father not having a relationship with his youngest son? A scene with all three of them would have been nice. Also, an epilogue is not always needed but this felt like the schedule wedding would have been perfect epilogue. Just to show legit relationship growth.

I could be overthinking because I did this review at 2am.

I saw a TikTok about it and was reminded to not trust Booktok suggestions much !

This book had great potential but it lacked most of the time.

I just hate when there’s a marriage related trope mentioned and the MCs don’t even get married until 70-80% of the book. Like if it’s a marriage of convenience or arranged marriage or whatever type of non-love marriage… I expect the MCs to be married in the first 50 pages, 100 max. Beyond that, it changes the meaning of the trope if the book is only 200-300 pages long. Nico and Heaven don’t even marry until like 60-70% of the book. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Even though Heaven was a sweet girl, she was very naive. It’s because she was sheltered by her parents and I believe she should have lived on her own for a very long time before deciding to marry someone. Her relationship with Nico was sweet at times but it felt childish. Nico was more of her care taker than lover. Also I didn’t like how Malakai was almost always there. It pushed the book towards a love triangle more.

RATING: 3.25 stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Unlimited Edition 351 page e-book.
SETTING: New Hope, North Carolina, during contemporary times.
TROPE: Marriage of convenience. Grief. Family dysfunction. Emotionally challenges.
MAIN CHARACTERS:
1. Nicolai "Nico" Wyatt, male lead, is a 30-year-old wealthy businessman and youngest Senior Vice President of Acquisition known. Nico is a loner who decades the majority of his time in pursuit of improving his family's business, The Wyatt Group, and to some become its CEO.
2. Heaven St. Claire, female lead, is a 25-year-old unemployed seamstress. Heaven seems confounded by conversations with nuanced as well as those stating many facts; in addition, noises and crowds unsettle her.
3. Malachi is Nico's younger fraternal half brother whose mother is recently deceased. Malachi is also an artist.
4. Quentin Wyatt is Nico's fault finding father, unfaithful husband and current feckless CEO of The Wyatt Group.
5. Celeste Wyatt is Nico's socialite howbeit supportive mother.
6. Aunt Vallerie is the 30 years long friend of Heaven's mother. She is the closest person to a relative that Heaven has and she has become Heaven's most trusted and supportive confidant.
7. Alexus is Nico's housekeeper.

I liked and enjoyed this story because Nico, Heaven, Malachi and many of the supporting characters are amicable memorable characters. However, many events and behaviors of the characters are never addressed. Heaven's reaction to people and to her surroundings suggest that she's on the artisum spectrum. How has Heaven been financially supported during her adult years? The author does not say. Nico is patient with Heaven but has outburst and bouts with loneness and doesn't express his feelings. What's with him. These and other questions resulted in my not giving this likable story four or more stars. Nico and Heaven survived the third act break-up and are together; so, I will envision their getting professional help in managing their mental health issues.

Overall it was a cute novel - loved the interactions between Nico & Heaven, but sometimes it felt like the writing was just too much - giving me information that didn’t seem to matter much - like some parts could have been edited out and we would have still had a well rounded story. But I overall enjoyed reading about them & I’m glad Heaven made him grovel but also realized where she too went wrong.

Shoutout to Mal for being a good wing man

Loved it! Arranged marriage. 3rd act breakup. No cheating. Black main characters!!! Autistic FMC!

Summary:

The book start out on Nicolai’s 27th birthday. He sista at a cafe lonely like he always is. And he sees Heaven and her parents walk in. He vows to never forget her face because she’s so beautiful. Skip to 3 years later. Malakai hits Heaven with his car and calls his brother Nicolai to help him. Nicolai makes her see a doctor and gives her his number is case she needs anything. She forgets her wallet in his office. Nicolai’s mother wants him to marry before he takes over as CEO from his father. She’s about to set him up on a bunch of dates. He goes to Heaven’s house and takes her to lunch. He asks her to marry him for an agreement. She takes a week to decide and then agrees. He moves her in to his house and gives her a lavish life. His mother and half brother absolutely adore her. Slowly they fall in love for real and elope for real 2 months before the wedding date. During their wedding night tho, Nicolai gets a call for an emergency board meeting. His father apparently threatened a bunch of his mistresses and the board had enough and fired him leaving Nicolai to clean up his mess. Nicolai comes back home and realizes that he doesn’t want to trap Heaven into his mess so he tells her he doesn’t even like her 🙄 she gets upset (rightfully so) and leaves the house and her ring and goes to one of his beach properties. Now the groveling begins. Nicolai very quickly realizes his mistake and becomes miserable. His father comes to see him one day and the conversation they had makes Nicolai cut off his dad even when his dad begs him not to. Malakai and Nicolai get closer and when Malakai tells Nicolai he’s gonna move out soon Nicolai gets even more upset. Malakai was confused though because he always thought Nicolai didn’t want anything to do with him since he’s a bastard child. Nicolai tells him that he doesn’t want him to move. Malakai’s invites both Nicolai and Heaven to his art gallery showing and they both end up going. Nicolai apologizes and tells Heaven he misses her. All three of them go to dinner, drinks, and dessert for celebration and Malakai keeps dragging the night on. Now it’s too late for Heaven to drive allllll the way home on her own so she sleeps in her old room. Malakai goes to bed while Nicolai and Heaven talk. They forgive each other and live HEA!!!!!

2.7⭐️2🌶️

Meh, it has been maybe 12 hours since I finished this and honestly, I can’t remember much.

This wasn’t bad it was just mid.

The plot was simple and pretty straightforward and although I wasn’t expecting angst because of the author’s note, I would have liked a little more complexity in the book.

The plot was marriage of convenience but they weren’t even married at the 60% mark. This book felt incomplete, there were a lot of things unexplained or superficially done so, like:
-Nico’s relationship with his dad
-Heavens overstimulation
-the point of Malakai character (he only had one civil conversation with Nico)
-the company (which was so insignificant in the bigger picture)
Nico’s parents and therapist among other things

For me it all felt inconclusive and I was frustrated, a lot of things here just there for the sake of being there and that made things worse.

The characters were also meh, Nikolai’s personality was bland and I insist that what was the point of adding a therapist when there was no closure or actual growth or healing for his character?

Heaven was a little too naive for my liking and even though I understood her grief she also was an adult who didn’t have the luxury of not working for three months, for me she was immature and was really hoping everything resolved itself. I also repeat I would have liked a more clear explanation to her quirks.

In the end I think the representation of the characters was bad and I hated that their descriptions kept being changed.

Also the problem of the book was rushed, Nicolai was an ass and his apologies felt mandatory because of his emotional dependence to Heaven not because he was actually sorry.

Bottom line, now that I’m thinking about it I don’t even know why I finished this.

This is the kind of story you devour in a day, or go to after reading emotionally heavy books. This was chill, cute, fluffy, and just a feel-good read. Even the drama wasn’t too heavy; it was enough to have you sitting up and leaning in. I was enjoying the easygoing nature of it until we got to the climax.

The dreaded miscommunication trope. I honestly don’t even know if it’s even considered that, but it simply didn’t fit the story or the character. For the entire story, Nic was the more solid person in the relationship when it came to knowing exactly what he wanted out of the arrangement. He never said anything sus or constantly reminded himself that it wasn’t real. So when he started saying all that nasty stuff, it didn’t make sense plot-wise. Even if he was angry, that’s not enough to make it believable. I’m tired of having to sit through couples breaking up for no valid reason for there to be conflict or a threat to the relationship. If we’re gonna do this, please align it with the actions and thoughts of the characters over the course of the story.

Other than that, I liked the story and characters. I knew a couple of pages in that I could finish it in three days max if I didn't deliberately drag it out. I plan on reading the second book about Malakai and I already have other books by the author lined up. Looking forward to it.

Heaven having Haphephobia was interesting. I could relate because I'm the same way. And Nicolai was accurately named considering he was definitely always showing up and trying to help others even to the detriment of himself. I agreed with his therapist wholeheartedly on alot he said. I loved how Heaven pulled Nicolai out of his shell. She was perfect for him. And Quentin was a pos. I have no idea why the fuck he stayed with Celeste when he was happy sticking his dick in any and everything. Dedicated a whole wing in his house to Malakai mom memory although he was banging several other women and had coerced them into getting abortions. He was a sick son of a bitch. I wouldn't call what he had with Malakai mom love when he chose his image over being with her especially in her last moments. Talk about a cluster fuck.

Such a good read.

This is technically my fifth book from this author. However, it's my first full-length book and I want to say I am not disappointed..
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought the author did a phenomenal job at putting feeling into it and making me love the characters, while Also not overdoing the plot. The only reason and this is completely selfish, I didn't give the book. Five stars is because I wanted more. I wish there would have been an epilogue or something.. I feel like they finally got back together and it was like okay. We're good it's done.

Overall though, I am a new fan and cannot read to read more from this author!!

If you like this genre, you’ll like this one!

Heaven Sent was a sweet story about, Heaven, a heartbroken young women trying to find her way after the sudden deaths of both her parents who she was extremely close to. Alongside Heaven was Nicolai, a lonely business man dealing with some recent shocking family secrets exposed. Nicolai is instantly drawn to Heaven, classic savior complex, and so he of course tries to save her from loosing herself under a pile of bills. The two unlikely couple soon are inseparable until there’s a crack in their growing foundation.

This was a really good!

This was Heartwarming

This was such a cute and heartwarming read. Heaven and Nico seemed made for each other. I didn’t enjoy the 3rd Act Breakup because it kind of puts a shift to things but I love how they worked their way through things. Also the way in which they communicate shows a healthy loving environment. The representation of Heaven seemingly being on the spectrum without it being the main focal point of the story was also great to read. Enjoyed it and would recommend.

Another One 😍

Shon is one of my favorites…the stories never disappoint. This was a great story to read. Nicolai was a man with many layers and I was so happy reading him go through them. Heaven was sweet and at the start of the story I was like 🤔 but within the first thee chapters any questions I had were gone. Of course when they were dealing with what I called the major issue I was hurt but also cussing Nicolai out lol. The journey seemed fast paced even with all the bumps in the road but I loved this story. I can’t wait to see what Shon has for us next

This was such a cute fast paced read.
I’ve never experienced a book where the fmc was on the spectrum, and I am happy Shon was able to portray that in such an inclusive way. Her diagnosis is never really said out loud in the book, but if you are familiar with ASD you will see the signs clear as day. I loved how it wasn’t the main focus of the romance but rather used in a way to further the plot and love between both characters. Smut was pretty mild, and everything moved pretty fast but it was overall very enjoyable.

THIS BOOK.

Whew! I was in it from the start. So much was happening and I was trying to read as fast as possible to keep my head on straight.

The meet cute these two had was adorable. I loved how we tied in the brother and the accident. It almost tripped me up because I was like "who she gonna get with" before it was made clear. There is no love triangle. Just strong friendships!

Heaven was so damn relatable for me. Her mind felt like coming home - if that makes sense.

Some of my fave lines were:

If she kept looking at me like that, I would become whoever she wanted me to be. Do whatever she needed me to do.

“I don’t care if you’re going across the street, Heaven. My wife doesn’t walk anywhere.”

Would definitely read it again. Need more New Hope stories in my life.

Almost Great

At time there were a few mix ups such as the wrong name being used or the description of Heavens eyes being confused, one min they were amber colored and the next minute nick was staring into her “dark chocolaty orbs” other than the the story line progressed at a good speed. However I was so disappointed in the ending, it was sooooo rushed it almost seemed lazy. No epilogue, No cliffhanger, it just ended 😒

I enjoyed this book and this story.
Nicolai was so far gone for Heaven from the very start😭🥺
His exercise notes? 🥺 Ohh, how sweet! He truly adored her!
Heaven was an interesting character, she seemed to have such a calming aura.
I liked her relationship with Malakai as well.

We were told heaven had sensory issues but the book didn’t really get into details, this may have been done purposely but it would have been nice to know more!

Sweet

I liked Heaven and Nico. The marriage of convenience that takes a sharp turn to reality just does it for me. I hated the conflict because it could have been avoided, it seemed like self sabotage because of his father's issues. What didn't get me that umph was the resolution was the end of the story. I absolutely adored Heaven and Malikai's friendship and how they supported one another. A recommended read!💋

This novel tells a story of grief, love and trust. Heaven and Nico have a very unlikely meeting, that leaves Heaven with a bad taste in her mouth towards Nico. He has to find a wife to inherit the company and who better to pick than the woman who changed his life three years ago. This was a marriage of convince , but the miscommunication and third act conflict felt forced. However, the amount of love between these two left me swooning and wanting more.

Heaven Sent

There aren’t enough words to eloquently describe the beauty of your story. Hope organically the love between Nico and Heaven blossomed into something even themselves didn’t expect was beautiful to behold. And the fierceness of that love is one be to envied and desired. An unconventional beginning, but I Loved their journey.

Shon’s pen doesn’t miss

I download this book after being in a book slump, iykyk. I love Heaven and Nico. I love the representation of autism in the FMC. I don’t think was addressed directly but she had all the symptoms. I felt like I was ascended on a cloud reading this sweet book.

Perfection!!! I'm a sucker for a Marriage of Convenience Romance trope and for Shon so I was primed to love this book.

Heaven and Nicolai were made for each other. Nicolai so quickly understood and respected her boundaries. Heaven so seamlessly understood how to meet Nicolai's emotional needs. Ughhh I can't. I need an epilogue, an extra chapter. Something....I need more.

fast paced

Good read…, loved the friendship between Heaven and Mal. And I hope Mal gets his own story. I would have liked to see Heavens sensory issues actually addressed between the characters. I’m assuming she’s high functioning autistic but it’s not outright said. Also, would have loved to know more about her relationship with her parents before they passed.

This was such a beautiful read, i’ve never read a slow burn arranged marriage book and honestly i might never go back to the original. Kia made my heart happy for Heaven, and Nico meeting Heaven where she was each time and encouraging her itched a spot in my brain.
